"Can you believe this?" I whispered over to Eden laughing slightly as the teacher carried on talking at the front of the student hall. "Who would've thought so many maths teachers could all 'go on strike' and quit at the same time,"
"Exactly. I actually liked my maths teacher he was cool and now cause half of the maths department has quit is leading to new and not to mention bigger maths classes," She replied.
"I hated my maths teacher anyway. You think we'll be in the same classes this time around?" I asked, looking over at her but keeping my face facing the front. So the teacher explaining why we were being put in new classes wouldn't catch me talking.
She snorted slightly before turning to look at me. "Yeah right,"
I looked back over at the teacher as he was handed a sheet of paper. The whole year was in seats in front of him waiting for him to let us know what class we were gonna be in so we could get to class. He really dragged on the explanation when it could've been so simple... but I guess nothing ever is with high school huh?
He pulled his glasses down from where they were, on his head. Scanning the sheet before beginning to read it out.
I zoned out staring over at another teacher who was having trouble with a laptop. She sat next to the doors of the hall on her laptop but began to get obviously frustrated tapping hard on the keyboard keys. She kept readjusting the screen taking deep breathes before smacking the keyboard with the palm of her hand. She must've done this for minutes because I ended up hiding my face in my hoodie trying not to burst out laughing. I had a tiny headache in the back of my head and it hurt like hell to laugh but- my God I could not help it.
I felt Eden elbow me as I pulled my face out my hoodie and looked over at her. Taking a deep breath before smiling. "Yes?" I asked her trying to seem innocent.
"What are you laughing at?" She whispered back confused, her eyebrows slanted downwards.
"L-look over-" I snorted slightly with laughter replaying the vision in my head of her face being so angry before being able to finish my sentence. "Look over there," I directed her pointing over at the same teacher who was still going at it. Only more heavy handedly and frustrated.
I heard Eden beside me begin to giggle too as the both of us tried so hard to hide our laughter in the nearly silent hall. The only one talking loudly was the teacher still reading the list. God, I hope he hasn't read out my name yet.
I carried on laughing watching the teacher as she progressed to slamming the screen down and turning it back on again but once again she resorted back to violence with a machine. I quietly giggled at this little show I was watching for minutes until I heard my name.
I looked away from the teacher who was abusing her laptop and over at the other one holding the sheet as he carried on with the names. I listened carefully to try and see if there would be anyone in my maths class I would actually like and be happy with but released as he kept out calling names probably not. He finished the list calling out Billie Joe Armstrong last as he explained the classroom we would be in and waited for us to leave so he could call out the next class.
I sighed loudly, picking up my backpack and swinging it around my shoulder. "Wish me luck,"
"What in a class with my annoying brother? You're gonna need it Blaze, Good luck,"
I walked out the hall following the crowd as we began to walk down the corridors and all crowded into our associated classroom. The teacher, an old looking hag who sure as hell knew me and probably the rest of this class since she had been working here her whole life, what a waste, stood at the front as many people began to take their seats.
I loosely threw my bag under a desk before sliding into the chair. Rubbing my eyes and the temple of my head trying to restrain the headache that was threatening to come. After a moment or two of me sitting in silence massaging my own head, there was a sound of someone sitting in the desk next to me.
I kept my eyes forward not wanting to move my head fast in case I worsened the headache until I heard someone say a particular nickname.
"Birdie?" I slowly looked beside me to see no one worse than Billie Joe. He looked over at me seeming confused as I put my hands back on the desk beginning to fidget with my fingers.
"What?" I asked him.
"What the fuck were you doing?"
"I have a headache," I told him. "And it hurts like damn,"
"This class sucks," He mumbled as he turned around and took in everyone that was sat around us at their own separate desks. I copied his actions also looking around until my stomach dropped. and my heart in my chest felt as if it had literally skipped a beat. Actually- fuck a singular beat, it felt like it skipped a whole ten.
My god, if I though having Billie Joe Armstrong in my maths class was bad I was sorely mistaken. I mustn't have realized his name being called because I was probably zoned out. I heard everyone's name that came after mine, so he must've been called off the list before I was mentioned down the line.
Sat around near the back... was Justin. I stared at him obviously, in disbelief for a little too long as he looked over at me and we made eye contact for a millisecond. A millisecond before I looked away and at the front of the class paranoid he might come over and try to talk to me.
"Oi, what's wrong with you?" I heard Billie ask me even more confused now since I turned around so fast and probably displayed the regret on my face from telling Justin my own best friends brother was my boyfriend. I must've just froze because, not meaning to, I didn't reply. Basically ignoring him. "Erm hello?" He asked me. I kept my eyes on the little diagram that had been drawn on the board from the previous class. Although I hate the hell out of maths right now I was studying that diagram like an absolute Einstein. "Fine then... you asked for it," I heard Billie mutter before I heard rustling of paper.
After a minute I felt something light hit the side of my head as I snapped out of my daze and looked around confused. Spotting Billie who was trying not to laugh as he looked away from me. Instantly looking blameable.
I looked down on the floor to see a crumpled up piece of paper as I picked it up in my hand and laid it out on the desk. Uncrumpling it.
Inside was a poorly written and scrawly note that read: 'You suck'
I looked over at Billie with a flat expression. "Real mature of you Beej, reaaaal mature," I said to him as he still acted oblivious looking away from me, despite the mischievous smile creeping on to his face as he leaned his chin on his hand.
I sighed smiling as I wrote underneath the two words. 'You wish' before crumpling it up again and shooting it at his face.
He quickly flinched taking his chin off his hand and looking around before realizing what I had done. I mimicked his actions putting my chin on my hand looking away trying not to grin at my own comedic genius.
"What! I do not!" He shouted reading my note as I bursted out with laughter. Holding my stomach at his facial expression until a shout interrupted me.
"Both of you! Billie! Blaze!" The teacher shouted.
"Yes?" We replied together.
"Is there something you'd like to share with the class?"
I snorted slightly at the classic basic teacher reply before shaking my head as Billie answered her.
"Nah,"
"Then I suggest you both be quiet." And with that, she carried on with her explanation on the maths topic we were doing, not sure what since I clearly wasn't listening.
After a moment or two, Billie spoke up again. "You got me in trouble," He mumbled.
"You started that, I clearly finished it,"
"Oh no... it is not finished,"
I decided to laugh falsely looking down at the book which had been placed on all the desks prior before the students came in. I wrote my full name on the cover page before flipping straight to the end and beginning to doodle.
I felt an object hit me in my head as I dropped my pen and looked at Billie, then at the floor. "Did you just fling a pen at my head?"
"Maybe,"
"You dick,"
The whole class was talking at this point, the old hag had gone to doing her paper work. I picked up my pen and held it between my finger and thumb, pulling it back with my other finger creating a force before letting go as it hit Billie straight in the nose.
"My nose!"
"Face shot!"
"Those aren't allowed!"
"Why not, sounds to me like you may just be a big baby,"
"Because they hurt!"
"Sorry does anyone else hear a Baby crying?"
"You're not having your pen back now." He grumbled snatching it off the floor and keeping it in his hand held tight.
"Billie that's my only pen!"
"Should've thought about that before flinging it at my nose,"
"Give it back!" I whined standing up ready to grab it, he stood up too holding it in the air as I attempted to snatch it off him.
Billie was short, it was obvious. But I was on my tippy toes and still nowhere near reaching the damn thing.
"Hey Blaze," I heard a voice greet from behind me. I put my feet flat on the floor turning around to see Justin.
"Oh- hi Justin," I awkwardly said back, avoiding meeting his eyes rubbing the back of my neck. A habit I had a tendency of doing when I was embarrassed or uncomfortable.
"Well hello there," Billie said to Justin, noticing how uncomfortable I was.
"And you are?" Justin asked looking over at Billie.
Fuck.
Billie gave him a wonky smile. "Billie Joe Sir,"
Justin looked over at me surprised. As I felt my stomach drop. "This is your boyfriend?" He asked me.
Shit.
I stayed silent for a moment scared to look up. "Right?" He asked me again.
Oh no. Lord no. God no. Hell no. Damn no. No!
There was a moment of silence shared between all three of us. Me, Billie and Justin. I was about to speak up and confess that I lied... until Billie was able to speak up first.
To my surprise he replied. "Yep, that's me,"
I looked up and over at him confused but he just smiled to Justin. Who nodded.
"Well it was cool meeting you," Justin mumbled in a voice that didnt sound very sincere. Maybe he did actually know I was lying about someone called Billie being my boyfriend. Because when he 'found out' Billie 'was', he didn't necessarily wanna have any more of a conversation with neither of us.
"You too," Billie laughed slightly before Justin walked away. As he did and I was about to say something about why an earth he agreed. The bell went as all the students began to grab their bags. The bell going earlier since half our lesson was waste in the hall being told what maths group we're in.
"The bell doesn't dismiss you I do!" The teacher shouted, but everyone basically ignoring her. I felt a tap on my nose as I turned around to see Billie Joe bouncing out of the classroom along with a load more other students leaving me confused.
He always has to do that. But I mean, at least I know the day he doesn't somethings up.
I guess I'll have to ask him about it later anyway, on why the hell he did agree to being my boyfriend to a guy neither of us actually know- Oh shit... what the hell is Eden gonna say when she hears this?
