Part 17: If You Look Closely.
I sighed and looked back at the two. "Declan!" I shouted. "What was that?!" It was night by now and all you can hear was cricket noises. "Naomi, I don't like you being with Bennett.. Alone." "Aren't you even happy that he's alive?! Not even a bit?!" He looked down. "You knew didn't you?? You knew he was alive and you didn't even tell me?!" He sighed. "Naomi I didn't want it to get between us." I pushed him back. "You jerk! I would wake up, hoping that everything was a dream.." I began my eyes watering. "When it wasn't! I missed Bennett, and you just knew and didn't tell me?! Us? What are we Declan huh? It's not even official." I turned around. "And I don't think it will ever be." I began walking until Jordan swooped me back around. "Where are you going?" "Home." I said and shoved him away from me.
I stayed silent and walked away, trying to hold back my tears. I'm leaving two guys for one. I'm so stupid, because Jordan.. He didn't do anything, or did he?... But, It was Declan, all Declan's fault. Now I'll probably not see Bennett for a while. He's gone, I don't have his number, nothing. "Naomi!" I heard shouting from behind me, and I walked faster trying to ignore it. "Wait!" I was immediately pulled back by a hand. I fell and my glasses broke. "Dang it!" I shouted and turned around. "What's your problem?!" "I'm sorry.." Jordan said. "You better be! I can barely see without those things!" "It was just- We aren't ready to let go of you Naomi. You're the most nicest friend I've ever had." Jordan said. "Well then.. You're going to have to learn." "Wasn't it all for one and one for all Naomi?" "Yeah.. It was. I'll see you later Jordan.. Maybe when I learn to be the nicest friend you've ever met again." "Naomi please?" "I'm sorry Jordan. I- You guys let me down.. That's when I knew all for one and all for one wasn't working for us. Because you didn't even stand up for Bennett, did you?" "Na-" I stood up, leaving my glasses in the floor. "Goodbye Jordan." I said as I hugged him.
He began tearing up. "Never change. Make sure you keep making everybody laugh." He looked at me. "Yeah, ok.." I let go of the hug and walked away. I was completely clueless of where I was going but I couldn't face them right now. I began crying. "Can't believe you guys." I whispered. "All for one? Really? Is that what you guys did?" I asked myself, my eyes watering. "Naomi." A voice said behind me. "I said leave me alone- Bennett?" "Yeah.. Are you okay?" He said wiping my tears away with his thumbs. I hugged him. "All for one." Was all that came out. "Yeah, thank you for going by that." "How could I not? Wasn't it our motto?" He nodded. I sighed. "Where were you?" I was going home but I heard shouting." "Mm? You have a house?" "Naomi, I'm rich remember?" "Oh yeah.. So where do we go now?" I asked. "Well you did want to interrogate me, didn't you?" "Maybe tomorrow, I'm kinda tired." I said finishing my sentence with a yawn. "Yeah, let's take you home." "No." I began.
"I'm already home." I said, tightening my hug. "Fine then, I'll take you to my house." He said. "That's okay with me." I said letting go of the hug. He grabbed my hand and led me to his car. "Bennett?" I asked. "What happened to your other cars and your house?" He sighed. "Naomi, my father was too busy to even think about me. He thought I was alive all this time, and just ignoring his calls." "You're kidding? He didn't even see if you were okay when you didn't arrive at the war thing?" "Nope. I should've known. All my stuff is at my new place." "He doesn't even care about you?!" "No-" "That's horrible! He doesn't deserve you! He didn't deserve your mother either! He doesn't deserve anything!" "Naomi, it's just something that.. A lot of people have to deal with. Even though they're famous and everybody thinks they're okay, they're not. Nobody takes the time to really see if you're okay deep down." "That- Is that really how you grew up?" "Well ever since my mother died, yeah pretty much."
"You know what sucks too?" He said as he led me to the passenger seat of his car. He slammed the door shut and went to the other side. Slam. "You guys didn't change a thing. You made me feel cared for, but that didn't help much with my father." He put on his seatbelt and turned on the dark red Mustang. "Bennett.. I never knew." "Didn't expect you to." I had no words. Is that really how people live by? They suffer underneath but they have to smile for the camera anyways? They have to force out a smile, while wanting to cry themselves to sleep? That- That's horrible. Then knowing that I'm one of those people that never checked to see if Bennett was really okay, made me feel like a jerk. All this time.. I never knew. I looked at Bennett who had his eyes focused on the road. But if you looked closely, very closely.. You could see the tears.
I'm not crying. Why would you think I'm crying?
You're crazy I'm not crying.
See there's no tears!
At all!
Not at all!
Is what I would say if I wanted to lie.
