Josh stepped out of his car, taking a sip from his cup of coffee. He slammed his car door shut, letting out a quiet sigh and watching his breath curl in the cold air. The freezing temperatures bit through his coat, making his whole body cold.

Josh shivered, running a hand through his blue hair as he began to make his way across the sidewalk. He looked up to the top of the apartment complex, humming softly.

Just then, a man with russet hair exited the building, carrying bags in his hands. Josh recognized him as Gabriel, and smiled at him.

"Josh!" Gabriel grinned in acknowledgement, freeing one of his hands to shake Josh's.

Josh smiled bashfully. "Hey, Gabriel."

"Swung by to say hello?" Gabriel joked, and Josh's smile faltered. "I'm kidding," Gabriel chuckled.

"Oh," Josh laughed too, blush setting on his cheeks. "Um, Tyler wanted me to come by."

Gabriel frowned. "Come here? Are you sure? He just left."

"Left?" Josh echoed, uncertain. "Left where?"

"To his house, I think. Well, mansion would be a better word for it." Gabriel set the bags down on the ground and blew air on his cold hands.

"Oh." Josh sighed, taking another sip from his coffee. "Maybe I read the text wrong."

Then, Josh's phone pinged happily and Josh reached into his coat pocket to get it. He had received a text message, from Tyler.

Tyler

canceling our plans today. something came up. sorry.

Josh tried to hide his annoyance; he had gotten out of bed, out into the cold, for nothing.

"He cancelled?" Gabriel guessed.

"Yeah." Josh let out a deep breath, the gust looking white due to the cold. "I got out here for nothing." He grumbled.

"Well, I was about to make some dinner. You're welcome to join." Gabriel offered, motioning to the bags that were full of groceries.

Josh considered Gabriel's offer, before shrugging. "Sure. At least I get food."

The two men laughed at a humorous comment one of them had made, both buzzing from the effect of the wine they had been drinking. They were laughing so hard, that they made no sound at all; the only sign showing was the shaking of their shoulders.

Josh gasped for air, coughing between laughs as a sip of wine stuck in his throat. "Oh, God, your jokes are the worst," he said when he finally recovered from the laughter.

"I hear you laughing, Josh." Gabriel pointed out, grinning.

Josh rolled his eyes, tip of his finger running along the rim of the wine glass. "They're so bad, it's funny." (a/n: aka liza koshy's jokes [except her puns are actually the best])

Gabriel shrugged. "It's still funny."

Josh chuckled, taking another sip from his drink. He glanced at the clock on the wall of the kitchen, eyes widening a little. He double-checked the time on his phone. "It's nine already?!"

Gabriel looked up, surprised. "Oh, it is. Times flies when you're having fun."

Josh stood up, downing the rest of the wine in his glass. He began to gather his coat, pocketing his phone. "I should get going. It's really bad out on the roads."

"Oh," Gabriel nodded in understanding, standing up as well out of courtesy. He hesitated, before saying, "Could we do this again sometime in the near future? I had a lot of fun."

The blue-haired man paused, staring at Gabriel. He reached up and tugged at his blue strands a little, and smiled. "Yeah, sure. I had a lot of fun too."

Gabriel grinned. "Could I have your number then?"

"Oh, yeah, here, just give me your phone." Josh suggested, and Gabriel reached into his back pocket. He pulled out his shiny iPhone (Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus, to be exact) and handed it to Josh, who typed his number in. "Just, uh, text me when you have the time."

"Okay," Gabriel nodded.

"Okay," Josh repeated, and the two began to giggle. Wine had a strange effect on the two of them. Josh began to pull his coat on. "I have to go, so I'll, um, see you soon?"

"Definitely." Gabriel nodded again.

Josh headed to the door, Gabriel following. He slipped his shoes on and opened the door. He turned to bid Gabriel good-bye one last time, and that's when things went haywire. Out of nowhere, Gabriel grabbed Josh by his coat and yanked him closer, pressing their lips together.

Both were kind of drunk, on a contented buzz from the wine, so Josh really didn't think to push the other away. He stood there in shock, unsure of what to do. If he weren't drunk, he'd probably shove Gabriel away and give him a good bitch slap; but he was drunk, and so he did nothing.

Gabriel eventually pulled away, panting from the lack of oxygen. "Sorry," he apologized, letting go of Josh. "I just . . . was really tempted to do that. I can see why Tyler's so interested in you."

Josh blinked. He shrugged, as if he had just been merely hugged and not kissed. "It's cool," he said. He turned around, opening the door. "I have to go now."

"Bye," Gabriel ran a hand, his russet-brown hair glinting in the dim light.

"Text me," Josh finished. He was most definitely leading Gabriel on, although he didn't realize it then. He just wanted to meet up again, to have a fun dinner sometime soon - as friends.

"I will," Gabriel waved, and then shut the door.

Josh climbed into his car, sat there for a second, and then pulled out his phone and opened the Uber app. He was never one for taking a chance and driving while drunk, no matter how drunk he was.
