JAMES

I watched as Annabeth walked in with a smile on her face at lunch. I loved her smile, it was so beautiful. She was beautiful.

It was rare to see Annabeth have a smile on her face because she had a pretty hard life. I've only known her for two days and I have already figured out that she grew up without a mom and had to run away from California to New York. I would have hated to be in that situation, but I can make her life better. I would treat her like the goddess she is. She says she has a boyfriend but I'm pretty sure it's just to keep away the creeps like Alex. I could be a great guy for her.

Behind Annabeth was Percy Jackson. He was on my swim team, the captain actually. We didn't talk much but on occasions we would be partners for projects in Greek. That dude knew EVERYTHING that had anything to do with Ancient Greek.

Annabeth turned and pushed his shoulder as he walked up next to her and he started to chuckle. Annabeth laughed along with him. They sat down with Audie, Wesley and I.

"Hey Percy what are you doing over here?" Wesley asked him.

"Oh you know just showing the new kid around. Turns out we have the same exact schedules." He responded. Since when does he just get to waltz around with the prettiest girl this school has ever seen?

"Well, all except for 7th hour" Annabeth corrected him

"Where is Matt?" I asked about his friend to see if I could get him to leave.

"He had to go home. Apparently his great aunt died. He won't be back for awhile."

"Oh." Was all I said

"Hey seaweed brain," Annabeth said to Percy. They just met and they already have nicknames? Odd.

"Oh, I forgot to say." Annabeth changed what she was about to say and directed her attention to me. "You know when I said I had a boyfriend? Yeah, this is him!"

"Oh well that's cool!" I said trying to make myself look optimistic after losing her. I was so close, but I lost my chance."when did you guys meet?"

"We were 12" Percy answered, throwing his arm around her shoulder. Annabeth nodded in agreement starting to eat her lunch.

Then Annabeth got a call she said was important. she went to the bathroom so that she wouldn't get caught, and Percy said he forgot to get a fork and left.

"I'm sorry, James. I know that you like her, but just hold on, not every relationship lasts forever. I highly doubt they will grow old together, it's probably just puppy love." Audie reassured me after Percy had left hearing distance.

"I know, but it looks like she really likes this guy."

"Oh come on! quit being so hard on yourself, it's not like they've been to hell and back for each other." Wesley finished the statement as Percy came back along with a worried Annabeth and a fork. without putting down the fork, he stabbed his food and ate it mumbling something only Annabeth could hear, and she laughed quietly.

"What?" Audie asked wondering what was so funny

"It's an inside joke, I just said, 'if only they served blue food." Percy explained. I wandered how blue food is funny, if you want blue food, go get a blueberry muffin or something but everything blue is just weird.

"So what's wrong with you Annabeth? You look pretty worried. "ummm" she started "I got a call from Percy's cousin and she said she needs to talk to me about something important, but she sounded worried."

"Who do you mean when you say my cousin?" Percy asked her

"Thalia" she answered "she said she would be at my place by the time I get there."
