-MARVEL-
Athena gets a dream about Kingston, the boy she's never thought about romantically at all.
-
"You know," The tall, curly-haired boy started with his arms crossed over his chest. He was leaning again the school gym's wall and had his foot resting on it. "You should seriously try this Korean food place. The food they serve is perfect for your type of workout." He looks down at the girl wearing their school's gym uniform shirt and black workout shorts.
"Uh-huh," Athena says between push-ups. "And you should try actually doing the assignment." She stops her pushups to sit on her butt and looks at him. "You know, the pushups, jumping jacks, burpees, sit-ups-- which, mind you, are partner situps. Meaning, you sitting in front of me, holding my feet together as I get core strength."
With a sigh, Kingston sits in front of her. "If you just wanted to see me at eye-level, you could've just said so~" He coos. He pats the slick wooden flooring, looking at Athena knowingly. "Come on, get in position."
Athena's been surrounded by teenagers for too long. The simple line, 'get into position', made her want to snicker. It wasn't even an innuendo, she's just been spending too much time with boys.
She moved her legs from their criss-cross position and brought them out in front of her. She props them up and then lays on her back.
"Remember to breathe, yeah?" Kingston chimes. "Can't have you passing out from seeing my face every time you do a sit-up." Athena brought her chin to her chest momentarily to glare at the older boy.
"You're a pain in my ass."
"Oh, but you love the pain, don't you?"
Athena sat up, removing his hands from her black shoes. "No, I don't. I'm going to ask for a new partner. One who takes things seriously and doesn't make a joke of everything." She grumbles as she stands up.
She begins to make her way toward the gym teacher, but, she was stopped by Kingston pulling her wrist. She and his chest were suddenly best friends when her face crashed into him. He still had a grip on her wrist as he gently took him off of her. "Hey, look, I'm sorry. I'll be serious. Promise."
Athena's ears were burning. She was smothered in his chest. Her face and his chest practically made a BABY. That's how close she was to him. How is he fine? Well, he's fine~ of course, but how is he not freaking out?! Athena would if his face was in her chest-- wait- hold on- where are we going with this?
"O-Okay, whatever. Let's just," She takes his hand off of her wrist. "Complete the assignment. Thanks." The black-haired girl went back to their blue mat, Kingston following after.
"You're welcome, shortie."
-
"So, you see, x = 11 and y is 5 remainder 2. To graph this, you would convert-"
"Oh, StOP IT," Penny said closing her math book. "Big brother, no matter how many times you explain this to me, I'm not going to get it. I'm not Spider-man, I'm not a science genius. I'm just me. Plain Penelope Parker." She threw down her pencil and quickly made her way to her room.
Peter frowned. He was unable to get a word in while Pen went on her tangent. She was more than Plain Penelope Parker. She was creative, kind, and made the best cookies with Aunt May. And, most importantly, she was his little sister. No little sibling of Peter Parker is plain.
Before he could make his way towards her room, the doorbell rang. With a heavy sigh, Peter walked to the door and opened it. His small frown was gone when he saw who was at the other side of the door. "Athena!"
She smiles, holding her bag strap. "Peter! Good to see you."
He chuckles, stepping aside and allowing her to walk into the house that smelt like Italian seasoning and thyme. "Please, the pleasure's all mine. I'll go get Kingston for you. I have to go and console Penny anyways." He closes the door.
Setting her shoes aside, Athena frowns. "Oh, no... what happened?"
"Math... the tutor fell through a couple of weeks ago and she didn't tell anyone. So, she's failing and we have to do all these make-up assignments so she can barely pass with a C. She's stressed, to say the least."
Nodding, Athena took off her leather jacket with the letter 'K' on the left side in jewels. "Poor Penny. Tell her I'm only a call away if she needs me..." She looks at her socks before chuckling. "Or, if you need me too."
Peter gives her a grateful smile. "I'll be taking you up on that offer."
"I expect nothing less."
Peter laughs a little before jogging up to Penny's room. On the way, he runs into Kingston, patting him on the shoulder and informing him of the girlfriend in their living room. Kingston thanked his shorter, yet, older brother before heading down to the living room.
There sat the goddess herself, observing Peter's and Penny's math notes with a leather jacket in her lap. She had recently cut her hair, so, instead of it being long and down to her butt, it was now the length of her midback. Along with this, she got the cutest blunt bangs that makes Kingston's head go dizzy at the sight of her.
The boy was careful to not make a sound as he crept behind her. He was feeling extra mischievous today. The bothers were upstairs, Aunt May had to run out to get groceries for dinner... it was a perfect time to mess with her.
With a careful finger, Kingston moves Athena's hair aside before placing a couple of kisses on her neck. He was mumbling something into her skin, but, because he was speaking with his lips on her neck, Athena couldn't decipher it.
Speaking of Athena, her face was as red as her hands when she gripped the wrong part of a weight bar. His speaking on her caused the sound waves to turn into vibrations which made everything else worse. She was squirming, getting a nervous sweat, and there was a slight ringing in her ears.
"Kingston-" Was all she could say before he pulled away. With a proud, accomplished smile, Kingston rested his forearm on the back couch rest and a bit of the cushion pillows. He wiggled his eyebrows at her, making her look away.
"Hey, shortcakes. How'd you like my greeting?"
"I-It was fine." She clears her throat and puts the paper she previously had in her hand away. The corner she gripped was all wrinkled and soft from her clammy hands. She was trying to look at their notes and put them back without a trace of snooping, but Kingston had to ruin that.
"Oh, come on," Kingston starts as he hops over to sit beside her. With his arm slung around her shoulders, he uses his other hand to grab her chin and make her look at him. "You know you enjoyed it. Your cute red face gives you away." He winks.
She sucked her teeth, glaring into his eyes as if he didn't make her heart skip a couple of beats. "Whatever. Here's your jacket." She takes it from her lap and puts it on his. "I'm finished with it."
Kingston raises a brow, looking at the jacket. He picks it up to admire it and gains a little smirk when he sees the sparkly 'K'. "Oo~ Careful with that 'K', Stark. People might think you have a crush on a certain person with a 'K' name."
"We're dating, for Pete's sake. So, what if I wanna wear your jacket and put your initial on it. I'm a proud girlfriend." She protests with a huff, crossing her legs. Kingston traces his finger along her jawline and cheek.
"Proud you are." He places a soft kiss on her cheek before standing up. He holds his hand out for her to grab and grins. "Come on. Let's go."
Athena gives him a hesitant hand, slowly rising from her seat on the couch. "Where are we going?"
"Someplace we can have fun." He grabs her waist with his free hand, pulling her close to him. He inches close to her face until he can feel her quickened breath on him. He looks between her eyes and lips, smiling to himself at the sight of her chest heaving up and down. Another tell beside her blushing face. "You alright with that?"
With each word, his lips grazed hers. So close to a kiss, yet, so far. Athena could feel the anticipation of a kiss practically in her bones. Hell, she wanted the kiss so bad, she could feel herself longing for it after every word. She wished they would have an hour-long conversation just to feel his lips on hers constantly if he wasn't going to give her what she wants.
"That's perfect with me."
"Good."
And finally, what she's been longing for, arrives. He closes his eyes, grabbing her arm and wrapping his around his neck as their lips connect like perfect puzzle pieces. An audible noise Athena doesn't want to admit to escaped her mouth as she kissed him back.
Call him what you want, but, you have to admit, Kingston is good at getting what he wants. What did he want, you might ask? He wanted Athena to beg for such a simple kiss, even if it wasn't an audible beg.
Since their pining days, Kingston was always the best at figuring out the pale girl's body language. It's how he knew she had a crush on him.
Pulling away from the kiss, he winks. "I'll make you produce more of those sounds later on. Now, come on. We got somewhere to be." He drapes the jacket over her shoulders and grabs her hand. "We'll be back before dinner, Parkers! Don't burn down the place while I'm gone!~"
-
With pants and gasps, Athena strikes awake. She clutches her comforter to her chest as she sits up and her long hair sticks to the back of her neck. She looks around the room to find it as dark as it was when she first went to bed. She had no clue what time it was. 3 am if she could guess.
She used her palm to feel her forehead. There was no sign of a fever or bluntly cut bangs. What the hell was that? Why did she just have that? Kingston? Kingston Parker? All the fine people in her school, male and female alike, her brain chose Kingston to have that dream about?
"Oh, God." She falls back on the bed with her hand still on her forehead. School was going to be shit tomorrow.
-
"Heyyy, shortie!" Kingston calls from opposite the hall. Athena was resting against the lockers with books to her chest. She wasn't able to sleep after last night's dream. She kept thinking of his lips on hers, his perfect hair, her cute bangs, and his perfect lips-- we already talked about lips! Oh, gosh. Oh my gosh.
Athena looked around for places to run and hide. The hallway was empty on this particular Wednesday, for some... weird reason. This hallway is never empty. Why is it empty suddenly? Athena looked to the right of her to see Kingston still making his way towards her. She had to abort, even if he saw her looking directly at him.
She looked at one of the open classroom doors and thought about making a break for it, but, a classroom would be a dead end. So, going back toward the entrance came to mind... No, that's closest to Kingston. Girls' bathroom. It was to the left of Athena, Kingston would have to leave and/or wait for her to come out, it was foolproof.
With her head parallel to the ground, Athena made a break for it and went to the bathroom. She went inside, hid behind the door, and waited until the tallboy was gone.
She sat in that bathroom for twenty minutes.
People came in and out, talking about the latest gossip, who Jonathan took out last night, and if their snot should be a certain shade of pink after inhaling eyeshadow powder.
Athena lost a few IQ points, to say the least.
When the bell rang, Athena booked it to her first class. She didn't have her books or any supplies with her, she didn't have the time to pick them up at her locker, so, once she got there, she asked everyone for a pencil and a wad of paper.
She received glares and scoffs, but got her supplies nonetheless.
-
Kingston tried to approach her many times after the morning encounter. All he wanted to do was give her the Korean food he picked up that night to give her for lunch. However, she wouldn't know that since she's been actively avoiding him. He could tell.
She would look in his direction, widen her eyes and bring her shoulders to her ears, before turning and running away from him. Well, that stops now, Stark. I'm going to be talking to you today whether you like it or not.
Determined he was that boy.
During lunch, he found Athena sitting in the cafeteria by herself. She was reading something on the table with her navy blue hydro flask to the right of her. She was too invested in that book to notice him standing beside her.
"Athena," Kingston said to her. She gasps a little, gathering her things to get up and leave. Kingston put a hand on her shoulder and sat her back down. "Sit. You are going to sit and listen," He says sitting beside her. Athena whimpered a little as she was sat down. She put her book and water back on the table as he spoke to her.
"You've been avoiding me all day. Do you think I didn't notice that? What did I do to you, Athena? All I did was say hello to you, call you the name I always call you, and nothing else! So, what? What is it? What did I do?" His voice was stern and clear. Not a single quiver or shake could be heard from him. Athena, however, did quiver and shake.
Kingston had never spoken to her like that before. Athena has never reacted to him like that before. First time for everything, I guess.
"Y-You didn't do anything." She mutters to him, looking at her lap.
"Yeah, I know I didn't. My last class with you was gym yesterday and we resolved our problems pretty quickly." He sighs, resting his arms on the table. "So," Athena turns to face him as he speaks. "What is it then? Why haven't you talked to me all day?"
He deserves to know. Treating him like this isn't fair... but it's so embarrassing.
"It's embarrassing to say, Kingston. You might look at me funny or think I'm weird..."
He chuckles a little. "I already think you're weird, but, that's part of your charm." He playfully bumps her side. "Just tell me what's going on. As much as you want to say."
She sighs, running her hands through her hair. "Fine... I had a dream about you."
"A-A dream?" "A dream."
"Did I die?"
"No."
"Was I hurt?"
"No."
"Did I look good?"
"Maybe."
Kingston grins a little, sitting up a little straighter. He fluffs out his hair a little and looks at Athena, squaring his body towards her. "Maybe? So, I did because your maybe means yes, but you don't wanna say yes, so, you say maybe." She shrugs, turning away from him.
"Maybe."
"Oh-ho-ho." He moves his left shoulder up and down teasingly. "There's that magic word again~ Maybe." He snickers, taking off his backpack. "You're cute, you know that?"
A small smile spreads across Athena's lips. 'Cute'. She's never heard him call her that before. He thinks the girl with pale skin and long black hair who's on the school's wrestling team is cute. Cute! Her!
"Mhm... I know." Her leg under the table bounces a little from excitement.
"So," He pulls out a white plastic bag and two forks. "Is there anything else you wanna share about this wonderful dream of yours?" He puts the bag on the table and pulls out the bowl of food. Athena shakes her head, turning to see what was the cause of the noise she kept hearing.
"Nope."
"But I looked good in it, right?"
"Yep."
