Chapter Four

A/N: Just something I want to say. Don't insult Taehyung's character in "The Arrangement'' by comparing him to Lee Chung Jae's character in this book.

First, this Seokjin went to a job interview, got a job, and showed up to work on the first day. Second, Jungkook's character has already had a few conversations with Jin's character and even touched him. None of those things could ever happen in The Arrangement. There are other differences, but I won't create spoilers; just leave The Arrangement Tae out of this! ❤️

With that, let's get on to Chapter 4.

*******

Jin's eyes widened in astonishment as he suddenly broke free from Jungkook's grasp, his body recoiling in disbelief. He was momentarily stunned by the suddenness of being yanked out of the room, his mind struggling to comprehend what had just happened. "What's wrong with you? Why would you do that?"

Jungkook looked perplexed as he arched an eyebrow since he couldn't believe the audacity of Jin to ask him those questions. "What's wrong with me? What's wrong with you? You are on a path to going down the wrong aisle with an asshole, and you have the nerve to question what's wrong with me? If something is wrong with anyone, it's with you, not me!"

Jin crossed his arms and averted his gaze from Jungkook. "Mr. Jeon, I kindly request that you refrain from meddling in my personal life. While I may serve as your assistant and stylist, it does not grant you the right to engage in inappropriate behavior or insult my fiancé. You do not know about him-"

"What's there to know? He ain't nothing special."

"Once again, Mr. Jeon, I respectfully emphasize that my relationship with my fiance is a personal matter that does not concern you. Therefore, your comments are unnecessary. As I look forward to working here so much, I ask that you refrain from taking any actions that would make it impossible for me to do so." As Jin established eye contact with Jungkook, his eyes took on an almost begging expression as he said this.

"You-"

Jungkook's words were abruptly interrupted when Chung Jae suddenly appeared and forcefully took Jin's arm, swiftly dragging him away down the hallway.

*****

"Jae, you are hurting my arm." The words came out of Jin's mouth as he was being escorted into a room by his fiancé.

With a forceful motion, Chung Jae closed the door, creating a loud thud through the room. He firmly grasped Jin's arms with both hands, exerting pressure as he pushed him against the door. His intense gaze fixated on Jin, piercing through the air with a wave of unmistakable anger. "what the fuck happened in there, Seokjin?"

Jin stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief, watching his fiance's unexpected action unfold. Time seemed to slow down as he struggled to comprehend the reality of everything that had taken place in the last thirty minutes, his mind racing to make sense of it all.

"Jae, you are overreacting-"

"Am I overreacting? I was disrespected in that room, and I am overreacting?" Chung Jae's fist collided with the door, narrowly avoiding Jin's head by a mere inch.

Jin gasped, and then he pushed Chung Jae away as he grappled with the realization that his hand had come near hitting him. "Jae, have you gone completely insane? Why are you behaving like this? I had no influence over Jungkook's actions, nor did I encourage his behavior. But rather than concentrating on Jungkook's actions or any of that, is it possible for us to speak about how you made me feel in front of my boss?

You came here despite my requests because you know how important it is to me to have this job. I never in a million years would have attended one of your events and done anything like this. It was so embarrassing having you here talking to my boss like that!" Jin came to a halt as tears started running down his face. He could feel his emotions beginning to get the best of him.

Chung Jae approached Jin and embraced him, saying, "Babe, I'm sorry. Don't cry. I wasn't trying to embarrass you or make things difficult for you. It's just hard for me to accept you wanting to work. It's so unnecessary and then for me to come here and be disrespected and for that fucking man to put his hands on you!

I want you to know that I am being completely serious when I say that I do not feel safe with you working here, Seokjin. At this point, I get the impression that I need to have a discussion with-"

"Jae, I beg you just to hear me out. You are well aware of how much I care for you. I am dedicated to us and anything that pertains to you. Since the beginning of our relationship, I have never once requested anything from you.

As my fiancé and future husband, could you allow me to do this? If it becomes too much and I see it's not possible for me to continue here, I will quit, I promise you." Jin pleaded while he clung to Chung Jae and looked intently into his eyes.

Chung Jae heaved a sigh, leaned forward, and kissed Jin. After that, he held Jin even more tightly and squeezed his behind. "You should be happy that I love you and that you look like you do," he said to Jin. "Honestly, Seokjin, I wouldn't put up with all this defiance if you were someone else. It is a waste of my time to give in to these pointless demands that you are making, particularly for an occasional hobby."

Jin didn't say anything as he looked away from Chung Jae.

"I will let you continue working here, but I don't want you to be close to that man, and I expect you will not engage in any conversation or activities with him outside of work. Also, I want you to take a pregnancy test at the end of the month. If the results indicate you are pregnant, you must resign immediately. Do you understand?" Chung Jae asked, gripping Jin's jaw and turning his head towards him.

Jin nodded and said, "Yes, Jae and you don't have to worry about me talking to Jungkook or going anywhere with him outside of work. I'm sure I've never done anything to make you not trust me. I have always been committed to you and our relationship."

Chung Jae smiled and said, "I know, that's what I love about you. Sometimes, you know how to appreciate and be grateful for what you have."

*****

Jin made a concerted effort to compose himself before entering Jungkook's room, fully aware that he was already running behind schedule.

As he stepped into the room, his eyes were immediately drawn to a sight that compelled him to avert his gaze. His attention swiftly shifted to the intricate network of cameras meticulously positioned throughout the room.

As he glanced around, he couldn't help but be taken aback by the number of photographers present. As he continued to observe the scene, a question lingered in his mind, wanting to know if this setup was common for every photoshoot.

When he saw Jimin walking towards him, a warm smile spread across his face, instantly melting away the tension gripping him moments before.

"Seokjin, you are here. How are you?"

"Hi Jimin, I am sorry I am late. I-"

"It's okay. I had a conversation with Hoseok. I helped Jungkook choose his outfit for today, or rather, the absence of one." Jimin rolled his eyes when he glanced at Jungkook, who was shirtless.

Jin dared not turn his head to look as if he had already seen more than he wanted to see.

"Thank you. I promise to be on time tomorrow and any other time." Jin responded, not wanting Jimin to think he didn't take his job seriously.

"Oh, it's fine. Don't stress about it. Anyway, I have to go because a client is waiting for me. Soon, Jungkook will get a break. Find out what he wants to eat for lunch because that's important. Send me a message if you have any questions." Before leaving, Jimin said.

Jin had briefly forgotten that it was a part of his duties to take care of such things for Jungkook; hence, he was thankful to Jimin for reminding him of this responsibility.

"You are still here."

As the sound of Jungkook's voice reached Jin's ears, he instinctively turned, his eyes locking with Jungkook's. At that moment, Jin couldn't help but notice the faint hint of amusement etched across Jungkook's face. He brought his arms together with a confident stance, folding them across his chest. His voice resonated warmly as he addressed Jungkook, asking, "Hi Jungkook, yes, I am still here. Can you please tell me what you would like for lunch today?"

"What's on the menu?" Jungkook's gaze fixated on Jin, his eyes carefully scanning his entire figure from top to bottom.

"I will compile a list and share it with you, allowing you to make your selection." Jin promptly responded and distanced himself from Jungkook.

Jungkook chuckled at Jin's reaction; he became thrilled about having Jin work for him.

*****

Jin quickly swallowed the morning-after pill in one gulp and then drank the remaining water from the glass he had been holding. Despite spending most of his lunch break searching for a nearby pharmacy, he finally found one. He had also scheduled an appointment with his doctor as he wanted to change his method of birth control.

"Does he know you are taking that?"

Jungkook's sudden question caught Jin off guard, as he hadn't heard him enter the room. Quickly, he retrieved the Plan B box from off the table and placed it back into the pharmacy bag that was next to it.

Jungkook approached Jin and leaned against the table, his gaze fixed on him. "Aren't you supposed to be pregnant?" he asked. "Doesn't taking that decrease your chances of becoming pregnant?" An amused expression adorned his face as he posed these questions.

"Do you have a condition that hinders your ability to respect others' privacy?" Jin expressed his annoyance with Jungkook by asking.

"What privacy should I respect? You are the one in my resting space taking your morning-after pill. If I recall, you were the one with your so-called fiance who abruptly entered my morning meeting with Hoseok, bringing your drama to the company on only your second day. If anything, you are the one who keeps including me in your business."

Jin's eyes widened in surprise as he took in his surroundings and replied, "T-this is your room?"

"Yes, Seokjin, it is. Access to this room is strictly prohibited." Jungkook closed the distance between himself and Jin as he added, "But if you want to stay here with me, I can make an exception, given we will be working closely together."

Jin's throat tightened as he swallowed hard, his anxiety evident in how he took a cautious step backward. "I apologize for intruding," he murmured. "Being new here, I am still in the process of familiarizing myself with the surroundings and learning the ropes."

"Seokjin, I can't help but notice that you seem to avoid me every time I come close to you. I find it quite enjoyable to have the undivided attention of someone while engaged in conversation, particularly when they maintain consistent eye contact with me. Can you give me that?" Jungkook's voice was filled with curiosity as he leaned closer to Jin, closing the distance between them again.

"I-"

"You can respond to that whenever you want to. Before I forget, the most important detail is that there is a dinner event that will take place tomorrow night. As my assistant, I need you to be present at this dinner. Also, given that it will take place in the evening, I will most likely get ready for it at home. I will send you my address; do not be late. This is your opportunity to show me how talented a stylist you are, so make the most of it!"

As Jungkook started to leave, Jin was again left speechless and bewildered. As his brain attempted to make sense of everything, he overheard Jungkook remark, "If you don't want to lose another ring, I advise you not to show up wearing one tomorrow."

*****

"Chung Jae tells me you have a job?"

Jin, while opening a food container, looked at his dad and responded, "Umm, yes, it's an opportunity that I got at this really good company-"

"He is not happy about you taking that job, Seokjin."

"I know, Dad." Jin took a deep breath before placing the food container on a tray. He carefully carried the tray to his mother's bedside. "Mom, it is time to have our meal." He smiled affectionately at his mother as he used the remote control to raise the bed she was lying on.

"She had a difficult day today; let her rest. I will make sure she eats later."

Jin sighed as he stared at his mother without responding to his father. As he watched her sleep, he closed his eyes momentarily before opening them and taking a deep breath. "She is looking a lot better. It seems this surgery made a difference."

"Yes, Chung Jae made sure of that. That's why I don't want you doing anything to upset him or his family, Seokjin."

Jin turned to look at his father, "Dad, I know."

"You know, and yet still you took a job that he doesn't approve of?"

"Dad, it's a job I've always dreamed of with a company I've always wanted to work for. Also, he is always traveling, so I spend half of my time alone at home, which is boring when I don't have anything to do."

"I thought you would be planning for the wedding?"

Jin sighed and said, "Dad, all the arrangements for the wedding have already been made. I don't understand why it's such a major problem if I want to work."

"Son, it's not a big deal. I would prefer you to work if that is something you want to do, but I don't want any conflict between you and him or his family if at all possible. They have done a lot to help with your mom's health."

"I know, Dad," Jin said as he looked at his mom.
