Clover's POV

I was playing games when Forest texted me. He asked if I wanted to go to the park with him and I said yes. I got off of my bed and got dressed. I told my parents where I was going and my mom said "Ok sweetie! Be safe but you better be home by 8! Ok?" "I will! Bye Mom!" I said and walked out the door. I walked to the park to see Forest sitting on a bench, looking at his phone. I walked up to him and said "Hey Forest!" he looked up and said "Huh? Oh! Hey Clover!" he stood up and gave me a hug which made me blush. He noticed and said "You look cute when you blush." I blushed even redder and I swear that I looked like a tomato! "Heh. T-thanks." I mumbled. Forest laughed and said "Come on! Let's go play on the swings!" I giggled and said "Let's race to them!" "Ok!" he replied. "Ready...GO!" I yelled while running to the swings. "Wait what?! CLOVER!!!!!!" I heard Forest yell in frustration. I laughed as he caught up to me with a angry look on his face. "Grrr! You cheater!" he pounded. "Hehe! Better be ready next time!" I giggled while getting on a swing. Forest got behind me and started to push me back and forth. I giggled as I got higher and higher but then he stopped. I gave him a confused look before asking "Hey Goofball? Why'd you stop?" he didn't answer except just motioned me to look at what he was looking at. I turned my head to see Jake and his friends. "Jake." I growled. "Hello Clovey and Stupid Ears." Jake said while his friends glared at us. Forest growled very loudly and his eyes had fire in them. "If you lay one finger on her, you'll wish that your hand wasn't clawed off!" he yelled with anger and defence in his voice. He's...he's protecting me? He really cares about me? Does that mean that he likes me? I thought. "Aww! Stupid Ears is trying to sound brave and caring. So cute!" the girl said sarcastically. Jake said "Deal with him. Clover's mine." his two friends ran at Forest and dragged him away from me. "FOREST!!!" I yelled trying to reach him but Jake punched me. I saw Forest being punched and kicked and that just made me cry. "Stop it Jake! Please stop hurting him!" I yelled at Jake. Jake just kicked my side and I fell to the ground. "CLOVER!!!" I heard Forest yell to me. I kicked out and caught Jake in the stomach. He stumbled backwards and I got up, punched him in the face and he had a bloody nose. Jake punched me several times in the face which gave me a bloody nose, mouth, and a black eye. He stopped and yelled to his friends "Stop! They had enough. Let's go." they left and I ran to Forest to see what damage has been made. He was a little worse than I was. He said "Let's go back." I nodded and we left the park. It was a awkwardly silent walk back. When we stopped at his house, he said "Hey Clover?" "Yeh?" I replied. "I um...really l-like you a lot..." he said nervously. I was shocked at first but then I said "I really like you too Forest." "R-Really?" he said. "Y-Yeh." I mumbled. "I was wondering if we could be a...you know...a thing?" Forest asked. "I-I...can't." I said, looking down. "Why not?" he asked. "Because I don't want you to get hurt like this again!" I yelled. "I can protect myself you know!" he yelled, hurt and anger in his voice. "I know you can! B-but...I don't want to see my best friend get hurt! I'M SORRY!" I yelled before turning around to run back to my house. "Wait! Let me do this then!" he yelled and grabbed me. He suddenly kissed me. F-Forest's kissing me?!!! I thought in shock. I melted into the kiss but after a few seconds, I let go and ran to my house with tears running down my face.
