Steven's POV

I was playing cards with my fire crew when the siren went off. We all jumped to our feet and slid down the pole to our uniforms. I hopped onto the fire truck and we went off to the scene. I saw the burning house and it was bad. The fire truck stopped and we got out and tried to stop the fire. I looked around and saw that the owners of the house were Garroth and Cadenza?! I ran to them and said "Guys! Are you okay?" "Yeah but our daughter is still in there!" Garroth said, panicking. A girl with them yelled "Please save Skyler! Please sir!" I'm guessing this is their other child. I thought. I nodded to them and ran up to the house but a fellow firefighter yelled "You can't Steven! The house is gonna come down any minute!" "Someone has to help." I said and ran into the burning structure. I looked around in the burning place and heard crying coming from the second floor. "I'm coming Skyler!" I yelled as I ran up the stairs while avoiding the fire that surrounded me. I stopped at the top and listened to the crying. I heard it from one of the rooms and ran to it. I looked around and then I heard a whisper coming from the closet and opened it to see little Skyler covered in a blanket. I picked her up and said "Let's get you back to your family." I smiled at her but it quickly faded as she started to cough violently. Without hesitation, I took off my oxygen mask and put it over her face so she can breathe. I carried her out of the house just in time, the house crumbled to the ground. I gave Skyler to her parents as they ran over. Garroth said "Thank you! Thank you so much Steven!" I gave him a weak smile and said "It's my job." Cadenza walked over and hugged him, saying thank you over and over again. I coughed out smoke from the fire and looked up at the sky. A firefighter quickly gave him a oxygen mask and I thanked him. After that, the fire chief said that I should a few days off so I can breathe normally again. 

Two Months Later...

Clover's POV

I woke up, got dressed, and went downstairs to see Mom and Dad about to walk out the door. Mom looked panicked and Dad was just sad and shocked. "What's wrong Mom and Dad?" I asked them. "Oh-oh nothing Clover! Me and your father just need to go somewhere for a bit!" Mom said, a little too fast. They left and Kevin was at the table, confused just as I am. After we ate breakfast, we went to school. When Kevin and I got there, I saw a sophomore talking with Forest. I growled as they started laughing. Forest is mine...wait...I'm not jealous, am I?! I thought. But no matter how many times I denied it, I just became more and more jealous. I followed the girl to her locker and slammed it close so she could face me. "You! Stay away from Forest! He's mine." I snapped at her. She was surprised and said "You can't stop me." I growled and pushed her to the floor and yelled "Stay away from him, sophomore!" the girl stared at me in fear and stuttered "O-Ok! I-I will!" she got up and ran away with her things. I turned around and went to class.

*Timeskip to when Clover and Kevin are home*

Mom and Dad walked through the front door and Dad went to the kitchen and sat down at the table. Mom went to the living room and sat on the sofa. I walked over to Dad and saw that he had his hands in his face and he sighed. I asked "Hey Dad! Are you alright?" I saw Kevin walk in and Dad replied "No Clover...everything is certainly not alright..." before I could ask him what he meant, Dad slid a folder towards us. Kevin and I looked at it and I opened it. I stared at the paper that was in front of me with horror and shock. The paper had two big words at the top of it and it read "Lung Cancer."
