Helpful Fox

"Namjoon..."

Namjoon looked up at the mention of his name. He sat staring into the steady stream near the village of the dead. He looked up into the honey brown eyes of the god of Sunshine. He had a smile on his face and light blonde hair that looked much like the wheat that once grew in the field.

The farmers had died. Their ghosts no longer able to wield the tools to harvest or grow the golden plant.

"Yes, Hoseok?"

"What is the word of your little fox?" He asked. Namjoon looked back down at the stream.

"She has figured out how to remain close to Yoongi without the sadness consuming her. Although time is not on her side. Hoseok sighed, taking a seat next to Namjoon. Letting his tanned bare feet slide into the cool water.

"Why did I meddle in his life..." Hoseok sighed.

"Because you fell in love with him. Much like I did his brother."

They both took a deep breath, then released. Their shoulders slumped in unison as they stared into the rippling water. Tiny fish swam along with current.

"However, at least yours is a little fox. Mine is a monster."

Taehyung was most foul when it came to Jin and Namjoon. But somehow what he did to Yoongi was much worse and he was using Jinx to try to fix his mistake.

Once Taehyung places a punishment it cannot be undone by any god. A creature of that planet would have to fix it.

In turn fixing a fracture in the timeline. Allowing the Fates to secure another's destiny.

"I just want him to be happy again."

"Yea..."

"You know they want to make him a king?"

Hoseok nodded, splashing the water.

"Can you imagine?" Hoseok looked up at the sun shining down.

"King Min Yoongi."

Namjoon couldn't really picture it. He only saw him as a little black fox. A grumpy one at that.

"I just want my sidekick back."

"One day."

They sat in silence for a while. The sound of tree limb breaking disturbing the peaceful tranquility. Both gods looked to see the cause, coming face to face with a Pen.

"Jin?"

The pen roared, charging towards them. Pain spread across Namjoon's face as he disappeared in a cloud of brown dust.

Hoseok sighed before he too disappeared in a burst of white light.

The Pen howled, splashing through the stream.

Namjoon sat high in one of the ancient oaks, watching as the pen circled around the trees searching.

"Jin..."

Jinx—

I woke up to my head hurting. Everything around me seemed so very loud and yet it was quiet. All the tears I cried out of fear and anguish the night before had taken its toll on me.

"Little one, are you okay?" Lilith asked. I frowned up at her.

"I think I'm just going to go back to sleep."

Lilith nodded, wrapping her limbs around me. Only for me to jump out of them onto the forest floor.

Yoongi slept alone last night!

I ran so fast towards the tree. To find Yoongi sitting on the ground beside it. He looked up at me as I slowed to a walk.

"Are you okay?" He asked, his small face riddled with worry. My head hurt so bad. I wasn't going to tell him that.

"Did you sleep?"

He narrowed his eyes at me.

"How are you going to answer my question with a question?"

"My head hurts..."

"Oh... have you tried linden?"

"What?"

"It helps." He murmured, scurrying off into the underbrush. I watched him disappear then looked up at the dark hole where we sleep. It seemed so inviting, so I jumped up inside and curled up in a ball.

"Jinx?" Yoongi nudged me with his paw.

"Hmmm?"

"Here."

I opened my eyes to see a small pile of flowers and leaves in front of me.

"It helps... you can chew it."

"Thank you."

He watched me as I chewed on a few pieces. It reminded me of the honeysuckle I used to eat with Jae. She always knew where to find it.

"Yoongi..." I started.

"Yea?"

"Could you stay here with me."

"What do you mean?"

"The closeness is comforting."

Yoongi stared at me with a strange expression, before he curled up around me, resting his head on mine.

"Yes."

I smiled, the warmth was soothing and the plant seemed to be easing the pain. Drifting off to sleep, I dreamt of little Jae and Her new brother playing happily in the meadow. That wasn't right though... he died before he could live. Did something happen to Jae?

I prayed to the god of Sunshine that it was only a dream. I couldn't bear it if something did.

Slowly I opened my eyes. Yoongi was still curled up to me.

"Feeling better?"

"Yes.. much."

He gave a small smile. This one lasting longer than all the others. It disappeared into that of contemplation. He seemed unsure of his next words.

"What's wrong?"

Yoongi stares at me, his dark eyes searching mine.

"Nothing is wrong.. I just-" he trailed off.

I sighed deeply, moving to jump out of the tree. Pretty sure that's what he wanted anyway. He always kicked me out at first light.

"Thanks again..." I mumbled.

"No wait!" He moved to block me from jumping. His eyes filled with panic.

"I'm sorry!"

"You have no reason to be sorry..."

"I do..." Yoongi looked down, my eyes followed his stare to my black paws.

"This isn't your fault."

"I can help you though... and I haven't."

"You have your own worries. It's okay."

I went to move around him to get out of the tree, again he blocked me.

"Teach me!"
