Chapter 52: Living A Semi-Couple Life
The half-light at dawn seeped into the room. The slow chorus of melodic the early morning breeze drifted in through the white curtains. Sapphire rubbed her bleary eyes as she stretched out like a lazy cat. She sat upright in the soft bed, scratching the back of her neck in confusion of what had happened last night.
"I think... That I truly. Wholeheartedly, love you. Jade Alejandro."
Sapphire remembered her awkward confessions to him. She clamoured while she thought about how she held him closer, staring at his full lips, and say;
"I know I never said this to you too but... I like it when you kiss me. And I like kissing you too."
"Oh no! I didn't kiss him last night, did I?" Sapphire grabbed her hair as a chill shot through her from inside, out. "OMG! How could I? How did I drink so much knowing so well that it would affect me! You must be crazy, Fire! Knowing well that alcohol is your enemy! You must be out of your mind!" She cried in regret and suddenly buried her face on the pillow.
The ghosty-silence hit her hard in the face. She felt scared knowing how mighty his house looks. Sapphire decided to check if Jade was still at home or not. Well, she wanted to leave already.
"I don't want him to see me first. I can probably escape that way." She said, sticking her back to the wall like a lizard. She peeped through every corner of the house, like a crazy spy but she couldn't find him anywhere. Even in his room.
"Did he go to work without even telling me?" She thought. Her eyes caught his pressed clothes on his bed. "He must be around, then. But where did that coconut head go this early morning?" She hissed and went back to her room. Sapphire brushed her teeth and stretched once more. She had a beautiful night especially on the soft bed.
Sapphire walked around, observing the wide room and walked to the window. There was pearly glow in the sky. 'Another day has begun bringing with it new hopes and aspirations.' she thought. It was a Saturday morning so, Sapphire didn't worry about going to school.
Just then, she heard the melodious chirping from the birds handing in the trees. Jade's house was wide enough and also very quiet. She held the white curtains to peep outside.
Looking through the balcony, she held on to the handle as she stretched her eyes to the side of the building. Her eyes caught a tiny, stray cat that had managed to climb in from the neighborhood.
"Huh?" She took a better look.
The cat meowed in fear, thinking of how to safely jump down from the height.
"Kitty! Hey! Hey you!" She called at it but it didn't even turn to her. Out of concern, Sapphire cloned the iron, separating her from the cat. The waking space was very tiny but she climbed over.
Jade whom had gone for an early morning hugging just walked in. Narrowing his eyes at her in Surprise, Jade couldn't help but to wonder what she was doing up there.
"Huh? Is that girl insane?" He asked himself, taking his ear piece off from his ears.
"Come here, come her baby cat." She shuttered, bent lower and stretched her arm towards it but she still couldn't reach.
"What is she doing?" Jade frowned as he ran closer.
"Kitty- kitty. Come and meet mama!" She called again and stretched a little further. Finally, her hands caught to as she held it like a piece of file in her right arm. About to turn, in order to stand up properly but her leg felt slippery.
"Oh no!" She cried out loud in fear of falling.
Jade ran towards her right away as she fell on him.
She was planning to pretend that she'd passed out so he would carry her in in a bridal style. She wanted to know how it felt without sleeping, so she closed her eyes tight.
But there was silence. She opened her eyes to check on Jade. His eyes were closed and it looked as if he'd passed out.
"Oh no! Jade... Are you alright? She leaned on his chest, on the marbled floor. Jade, can you hear me?!" She cried harder. Confusion stricken through her like thunder.
"Oh my, I've killed someone!" She clamored. "Jade, Are you really dead?" She asked him.
"No... I'm not dead." He replied in pain and he tried to sit up. Then, he opened his eyes. "What in the word were you doing, hanging around like a bat?"
"Well, thank you." She smiled.
"Just take care of yourself first, instead of looking out for that stupid cat! Acting as if you have superpowers!" He's hissed.
"So you saw me?" a shy blush escaped her lips.
"How else would I have known to run over and cushion your fall? Why did you throw yourself down like that? Are you an idiot?!" He sounded so pissed. "You should be more careful if you're so clumsy!"
"And who are you calling clumsy, huh?!" Sapphire raised an eyebrow. "I'm super graceful!"
"Yeah, you sure were!" He hissed at her and gave a hand. "Here, get up."
Holding his hand and leaning towards it gave Jade a severe pain as he moaned out loud.
"Oh no! Are you okay?" Sapphire asked as Jade held his arm in pain.
"Auchhh! Let's get inside."

Sapphire took a glare at her knee. It was bruise and swollen. She walked towards the mirror to check her elbow. It looked like a tomato was crushed on it.
"Oh man! This hurts!" She grinned softly.
And walked out of the bathroom. Meanwhile, Jade was waiting for her my the doorstep. They shared an eye contact immediately she walked out but he grabbed her arm. Turning it properly to see her swollen, bruised arm.
Immediately, he pulled her to the chair to seat. He walked to a side table and pushed of a chest of drawers to bring out a first aid kit.
"I'm going, okay? Seriously. It's nothing!" Sapphire stood up immediately, not ready to go through any pains.
"I think we should go to the hospital to get your sprained arm treated."
Jade placed his Index finger on her forehead had pushed her back, to sit.
"Just sit still, okay?" He wore a stern look at her and scoffed. I'm moody as it is because I didn't get any sleep last night.
"Wait, you have many rooms in your house, why didn't you sleep..." he drew her leg forward before she could utter any more word.
"You're always a moody person, anyway." She admitted. Jade applied an amount of methylated spirit on a piece of cotton wool at dragged her leg forward before applying it.
"Ow! Ow! That hurts!" Sapphire cried.
Jade stopped in between, giving her a cruel look.
"Of course it would! Do you expect it to be flavoured? You took quite a fall, after all." He dipped on and around her injury, making sure everything is well cleaned before applying penicillin.
Noticing how he was doing everything with so much love and affection, Sapphire stared at him. Jade felt her gaze on him and looked up but she quickly turned away.
"Why the stares?" He asked.
"Nothing." She replied and then bent closer. "You know what, Jade. Don't go and change all of a sudden. They say people die if they do."
Jade covered her injury with a bandage and then walked out of the room without any reply.
"But why didn't he say anything back!" Sapphire wondered.
She placed the penicillin back into the first aid kit and returned it back into the drawer. While she opened it, she met a framed picture of 9 years old Jade and his grandma. They looked lovely together.
Later, she went to Jade's room to check on him. He was getting dressed for work. Getting there, she knocked on the door before peeping.
"Umm... Does it hurt a lot?" She asked as she watched Jade struggling with his buttons.
"It's just a bit sprained. It'll heal soon." He replied her.
"Oh no, it's all my fault." She cried and rushed to him. Here, let me help you with that." She muttered, as she helped him fix the buttons.
"I don't think it's just a small sprain. You're in a lot of pain, right? Just tell me already. You can't even raise your arm." She murmured. "Let's hurry and get you to the hospital."
Jade managed to stretch his right hand to the bed, handing her his hair.
"I'm not good at this sort of thing. I mean... I've never done it before." She explained to him.
"You'd still probably do it better than I could in this state."
Sapphire wore an awkward look and placed it over his neck.
"You'll probably regret this." Sapphire muttered, trying to adjust the tie.
She moved closer, with a little courage but she suddenly felt incredibly uncomfortable as though, she wished she could climb inside her pants and hide.
Jade loved her presence. He looked her as she concentrated with tying a knot. Just then, Sapphire raised her gaze at him as they shared an eye contact. Jade focused hard enough on her pupils, he could have seen his own reflection while his face smirked at her.
