Chapter six

I finally finished reading The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis.

"That was a good book." I thought, I remembered the end of the story being read to me before. I liked Aslan, I remembered hearing something about Aslan was supposed to represent Jesus. I liked that, because it made me remember Jesus is forgiving yet strong like a lion but gentle like a lamb.

Later that day I thought to myself "Where is Joey?" "He is supposed to be my friend!" I got up and went to the store. Joey was there, but all he did was give me a cold hard glare.

"Hey Joey,"

"Yeah, Jack." He said coldly through his teeth.

"Can I talk to you, in private?"

"Sure."

We walked out side. He turned his back to me.

"Joey!" I yelled grabbing his arm and yanking him around, so he would look at me.

"What!"

"Look, I didn't mean I didn't trust you, I just... It is my biggest secret who ever knows can change my life forever."

"Fine." He said as he turned around to walk back in.

"That's it Joey!" I shouted as I grabbed his arm again and yanked him back around. "Joey! I need you!" "I........I need a friend."

"Well go look for someone else because I'm done, I can't spend time with a 12 year old, there just to, um... Childish."

"Childish!?" I screamed. "I live out there alone and you have the nerve to call me childish?" "I bet you couldn't even last a week out there alone!" "And guess what, I lasted seven years out there and more to come!" "So if you call me childish, well you are certainly just insalting yourself!" "That's it I'm done with this!" "Ugh!" I screamed as I turned around and ran towards the woods leaving Joey behind, as tears streamed down my face.

When I got back I fell on my knees by my tree and said, "Why?" "You said everything would be fine!"

"I meant what I said." He said.

"Then why.......why did I just loose the only person I was ever close to! Or at least that I remember?"

"No one ever said it's the end."

"Someone once said, everything will be fine in the end, if its not fine, then it's not the end."

"But I don't care about quotes!" "I care about the truth!"

"But this quote, is true."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes child, calm yourself." "It's not the end."

"Thanks."

"No need to thank me, thank

yourself."

I went on a walk by a near by gorge, something whizzed past me and I lost my balance. I fell back, I quickly grabbed a sick that was on the side of the gorge. I was hanging by one hand, I started trying to climb back up by scraping my feet against the side.

"HELP!" "HELP!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. All the sudden a hand grabbed my wrist.

"I got you." Said an unfamiliar voice. "Now let go, I won't let you fall."

I squeezed my eyes shut and let go, expecting to fall, but instead I was pulled up. I slowly opened my eyes. I saw a young girl probably about 12, with light brown hair.

"Th...thanks." I choked out.

"No problem." "I'm sorry about that. I shot an arrow towards that tree over there." She said as she pointed to a tree. "I didn't see you." "You probably jumped back to get out of the way and slipped."

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Leah" she said. "What about you?"

"Oh uh me." "Well speaking of my thanks for saving me but I better get home." I got up and started speed walking to town so she would not suspect anything.

I went around town and then walked back to my tree house. I climbed up in it and sat down on my "bed."

"Why did you leave her, child?" He asked.

"Because I was scared." I replied.

"You must let me do my work child."

"I know, I'm sorry."

"It's fine, but be careful, for I have great plans for you."

"Thanks." "I love you." I said quietly.

"I love you too."

Later I ate some apples.

"What to do today?" I asked myself.

I wanted to go on a walk by the gorge, but that was a very bad idea.

"Maybe I will go do some archery."

I went to grab my bow. Then I went outside and I try to hit pine cones out of one of the pine trees a little while a way from my tree house. "DARN!!" "I MISSED!" I tried again. That time I hit the pine cone straight out of the tree. It fell to the the ground with my arrow stuck through it. I shot again and again. I pulled the string back to my ear and twang the arrow flew towards the tree. It sunk into the tree trunk.

"Oops." I said as I ran to the tree to pull it out. All the sudden from behind the tree Leah came out.

"Ahh!!" I screamed in fright.

"Ahh!" she screamed also. "I..I am sorry I didn't see you there." she said apologetically.

"Oh no reason to apologize all you did was walk out from behind a tree." I said.

"Are you the girl from earlier?" she asked shyly.

"Yeah, you seemed less shy then."

"Oh I guess I did, I was just scared and wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Okay." I said.

"Keep talking to her child, make a friend." He said quietly.

"Um.. you wanna hang out?" I asked.

"Yeah sure." She said as a smile spread across her face.

"What do you want to do?"

"Should we keep doing some archery, we could have contests?" she said.

"Sure!" "That would be fun!"

So we had contest after contest. I won most of them but she was quite talented.

"Whoa you're good!" I said cheerfully.

"Not nearly as good as you." She said, "How long have you been doing archery?"

This question made my feel weird inside.

"Um....I don't remember." I said.

"What do you mean, you don't remember?" She asked.

"Uh....I mean....I have known how to do it for as long as i remember." I said nervously.

"Oh, okay, now that's why you're so good at it."

"Aw, thanks!" " how long have you been doing it?"

" A few years."

We spent a little more time on archery and then she had to go.

"Thank you Lord." I said.

"You helped." He said.

"But you made it happen." I said as I walked back to my tree house.

"I know child, but you did what I told you."

Finally it was night and I went to sleep. The next day was Wednesday. I climbed up another tree and stared at the beautiful sky, blue and bright, the clouds fluffy and white, an the sun golden and shinning. The wind blew my hair back (as seen in movies and TV if you know what I mean) and I was ready to start a new day. I wondered if Leah would come around if she ever found my tree house I would flip out. I went to the store and again I saw the cold hard glare of Joey staring me down like I'm some sort of scum. Joey was the only one working.

"Hey Joey." i said cheerfully.

"What" He said as he rolled his eyes.

"You don't have to worry about me being annoying any more cause I found a new friend, who cares about me, and would never leave me or give up on me cause I'm too childish. So there you happy now? No more Miss childish! Enjoy!" I yelled as I walked out of the door, I intended to keep walking until i got home but something stopped me when i was half way out the door.

"Good, cause that there what you just told me was childish, you know I should have never helped you, I should have just let you stay out there with an almost broken back and let you die." This is what made me stop.

"Okay, I knew you didn't care about me any more," I said looking him in the eye and leaning up towards his face, "But I never ever would have imagined that you wish you would have left me there to die!" " I bet you wish I died. Well guess what even if you didn't help me I wouldn't have died, and if you don't want me to live bad enough then..............." I didn't want to say it, "THEN KILL ME!" I stormed out of there and ran home half expecting for him to really kill my but I made it back alive.

The next morning I woke up to a fright.

"AHHH!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

Standng at the bottom of my tree house was Joey.

"Jack, come down here." He said.

I quickly picked up my bow, took an arrow out of my quiver and pulled it back pointing it at him.

"Take one step closer and I let the arrow fly." I said through my teeth.

"Jack, I promise I won't hurt you."

"Yeah, well you promised a lot of things." I said.

After along time of trying to convince me I finally climbed down, just to see him shove me against a tree as hard as he could and every thing grow fuzzy................
