Chapter seven

I woke up shakeing,blood running down my forehead.

"Why did I trust him?!" "Im soooo stupid!" I yelled in anger. "He did try to kill me, now my life is in danger." I said to myself.

"Calm child, all shall be fine."

"All shall be fine?" "Did you not see that!?" I asked.

"Child, stop." His voice loud and stren yet comforting.

"Sorry." I said. "Im just scared to death."

"Its alright, child, I know you are frighted but you shall be fine, people change."

"Wait wait wait, do you mean to say, Joey is gonna change? HE JUST TRIED TO KILL ME!"

" You must wait and see what I mean, it maybe Joey but bare in mind it could be yourself."

Later that day I went to the store I tried not to look at Joey, but when I did his eyes didn't look cruel, but almost sorry for me. I could tell he was trying to see if I was hurt very badly, but I had cleaned up all the blood earlier. When I left the store I just kept walking there was no way I was going to trust him ever again no matter how sorry he was!

When I got back I searched for Leah.

"Oh there you are!" I said when I saw her shadow. But to my surprise it wasn't Leah who came out from behind the tree, it was Joey again.

"Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. This time I had my bow ready and really wasn't afraid to use it. I started to point it at him.

"Calm down!" He said, "I came to say I'm sorry."

"Yeah, well that's sorta what you said last time." I said while backing up.

"I'm not gonna hurt you,I promise."

"That's exactly what you said last time!" "I can't trust you anymore."

"Jake please, give me one more chance!"

"I'm sorry I can't."

"Why!" He shouted.

"Oh I don't know maybe the fact that, YOU TRIED TO KILL ME!!!"

"I know I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking forgive me?"

"Nope." I said as I started to run away. I could tell he was following me.

"Jack!" He yelled from behind me.

"I have no chance," I thought. "He's 16! I can't out run a 16 year old boy!" But I made it to the gorge. I had had a head start so he was still coming around the corner, I looked back at him and with one thought I started climbing down the side of the gorge. Holding on to rocks and roots that were sticking out of the side. But when he saw me, he started down after me, so I had to go faster.

"Jack!" "What are you stupid!" "Climbing down the side of this thing!"

"Well if I am you are, cause your climbing down too!" I yelled back up. "So that's your call weather or not you feel the need to call me stupid!"

"Childish." He muttered, "Not forgiving someone."

"Not forgiving someone who tried to kill you." I said back in a rather sassy tone if I do say so myself.

"Oh give it a rest!" "It was one little mistake!"

"You're right it was a mistake, but not nearly a little one!"

"Oh when I get to you, I'm gonna..." He said but I cut him off.

"You're gonna kill me?" "Yeah thought so." I said.

"That's not what I was gonna say."

"Then what were you gonna say?"

"Uh....um....."

"Thought so."

"Oh stop that!"

When I reached the bottom I darted in to the water but it was up to my knees so I couldn't run in it, so I jumped up on the rocks and hopped across them. I didn't know what I would do when it ended. Joey was right up behind me.

"Ugh get away from me!" I yelled.

"Not until you forgive me!"

"You are just gonna try to hurt me again!"

"No I won't!"

"That's what you said before!"

I kept running till I met a dead end. Then I started to climb back up it again.

"You are the most stubborn person I have ever met." He said.

"You're the most untrustworthy Person I have ever met!" I threw back at him.

"Then why did you trust me?"

"Because you're a good actor I guess, I believed you but that was a mistake!"

"Give me one more chance!" "I won't hurt you." He said, I didn't reply.

By this time I was at the top and climbing up a tree. He came after me.

"Darn!" "Dead end!" I yelled at myself.

"There now your stuck with me." He said.

"That's what you think." I said with a smirk. I quickly jumped from the tree branch I was on to one quite close that was on another tree.

Joey looked at me in aww.

"How do you expect me to do that?" He asked.

"I don't thats why I did it." I said.

He quickly came after me. I continued this until I reached a tree that was a pretty long jump. There was a loose tree branch that I could grab onto and swing with. I quickly did so. When I got to the other side the branch snapped.

"Unfair!" Yelled Joey.

"Sorry." I said and I kept running. He jumped down and was now running on the ground.

"You won't catch me!" I yelled.

"Oh just watch me!"

I was so tired, so I kept climbing up the tree instead of jumping from tree to tree. I grabbed my bow off my back and took an arrow from my quiver.

"Don't make me shoot this." I said as I pointed it at him."

"Fine, I give." He said. "Just don't shoot me." "Bye Jack." And he started to walk away.

Once he started to walk away I laid back on the branch behind me, I was tired and dizzy from running so hard. I started to fall back but I grabbed the branch I was sitting on and dangled by it. Then I just let go and fell down.

"Ugh, I should just go home, the sun is starting to set anyway." I told myself.

When I got back I fell down on my bed and went to sleep.

A few days past, it was Monday. I had not seen Joey in forever. I went outside to see Leah. She said the day before to met her at 10:00 am at the pine trees. When I got there she was sitting by the trees.

"Hey." I said.

"Hi Jack." She said cheerfully.

"What do you want to do?"

"Let's go on a walk."

While we were walking I heard Joey call my name in the distance.

"Run, run I tell you run!" I yelled.

"Why?!" She asked in fright.

"Just do it!" "Follow me!"

We started running and climbing up trees jumping from tree to tree.

"Jack! Stop!" Shouted Joey.

"Keep running Leah!" "Don't listen to him!"

We climbed up a tree into the small branches that would not hold Joeys weight. Joey didn't see us.

"Jack!?" He yelled as he walked passed us.

Once he was along way away I gasped and said, "We are safe."

"Why were we running from him?" Asked Leah.

"Because he is mean."

"What'd he do?"

"Something." I said.

We went separate ways and I headed straight to town. I went to the store.

Joey was standing there beaming away.

"Oh no this can't be good." I said to myself.

"Hey Jack will you join me, outside."

"Yeah, sure." I said while shaking.

When we went outside he started yelling at me to forgive him.

"Forgive me!"

"No!"

"Forgive me!"

"No!"

"Jack!"

"No no no and nope." I started to walk away. He grabbed my arm and yanked me around like I kept doing to him.

"Jack, please forgive me."

"No sorry." I said.

He slapped me across the face. His eyes grew huge. He immediately realized what he did.

"Jack I'm so....."

"See there you go again trying to hurt me!" I interrupted. "I knew I couldn't trust you." I said while shaking my head and I walked away.

"Jack!" I could hear from behind.

"Nope!" I screamed as huge tear drops fell to the ground.
