It's Time To Rebel (SongFic)

Prompt: Three years later, class 1-A has officially graduated from UA. Izuku has been in the official hero due to his lack of a quirk, but it does not come without the extreme limitations he has been trying to break for a while. He is more of a detective than a hero. Then, the Hero Commission is threatened to hand Izuku over to the League of Villains or else there will be a devastating attack. Izuku is more than willing to give himself up. However, the HC decides to fight back instead due to Izuku being a valuable and dangerous opponent if he does switch sides. He would cause more trouble if he is anywhere near them.
Izuku decides he is done and goes on his own.

The actual description: The author has been inspired by two Tangled songs, so here we are!

As previously stated, this is 3 years in the future, so everyone has graduated, though Izuku graduated early. Due to his quirkless status, the HC doesn't let him do jack-shit. He is still missing an arm, but he does have a prosthetic that he wears throughout this. His armor is basically the same.
For the songs, 'Nothing Left to Lose' and 'Crossing the Line.'
KIND OF A SONG FIC
YES. ANGST IS A THING!
If you want a resolution, let me know

When we reach the lyrics, bold lines are Izuku. If two lines are next to each other, it is being said at the same time.

Warning: Angst, Villainous(?) Izuku, Trauma(?)

"Midoriya, you are needed to the president's office, " One of the president's lackeys informs Izuku.

Izuku, already overworked, sighs, "Got it, Petey."

"My name is-"

"I know. Let me have some amusement here." With that, Izuku stands up, checks his uniform, and heads to the office. After working in the HC building for over a year, he knows the president's office at the back of his hand. He is always going there, whether it be for a new assignment, case, or sometimes for something stupid like the prank he did on Hizashi's show (despite Hizashi being aware Izuku will hack it sometimes). The lady always has something for him. Izuku has minimum respect for her only because he would lose his job otherwise. A job that he gets below-minimum benefits for, but at least he favors saving people over money.

Izuku enters her office, and immediately realizes that this is going to be a shit-show if Shouta is there as well. Despite the two being well-known together, they rarely work together unless absolutely necessary. Izuku watches both of them, and he knows something is wrong based on the stiffening vibes from both of them, though Shouta's is more obvious due to the amount of bullshit they have been through together.

"Ah, Midoriya. Please sit. I have something vital to discuss with you, " The President says with a professional voice. Izuku decides to use some of his self-control to sit down and shut up, "Midoriya, due to the working laws, you are required to take a week break. You can not interfere with anything hero or case related until this day next week. Do I make myself clear?" Izuku could practically taste the bullshit. Shouta seems bored, probably knowing what is about to happen.

Izuku chuckles, "Uh, you treat me under the guidelines, and that's what you are talking about? You may have done some shit, but this is nothing. That guideline doesn't apply to me. You're hiding something. Besides, you wouldn't bring Eraserhead here to force me on vacation. I recommend you tell me what is going on or else I will not hesitate to hack this place up and figure oit out myself." The President looks towards Shouta for his help, but he shrugs with a face that says 'I told you so' on it.

The President considers her course of action before speaking, " Last night, we received a threat from the League of Villains, " It takes everything for Izuku not to attack because that is pretty vital, " they requested you or else they are going to cause a large-scale attack." Izuku hums, running through multiple possibilities. Oddly enough, it doesn't make sense. Usually, they would be more than wiling to throw him into the wolves.

"So why are you asking me to take a vacation? You don't plan on using this has a chance to confront them, do you? Because if so, then this place is dumber than I thought because they have too much firepower not to lose. I have shown you everything they are capable of, and you are ignoring it! We need more information before going in! What's the point?"

The knife sliced, "We are afraid that if we traded you over, we would either lose our best detective or, more likely, have to face against you." Silence. Then.

"So you expect me to become a villain? After the amount of bullshit I have went through to get this point, you think I would switch to becoming a villain?!"

"Understand that you have displayed villainous actions in the past."

Izuku snaps, "Because it was that or sacrificing lives! Hero life isn't luxury, lady! Most actual heroes can tell you that! If you were in the positions I have been in, you would have done hell of a lot worst than I did! Besides, you are risking more lives with this idea because you have no idea what you're going into! Is this a private attack?! Public?! I may have denied to go with them once, but I have the equipment to go in there now. I say let me go in there and let me destroy from the inside out. At the very least, if you don't want to sacrifice me, then let me lead the raid."

Shouta finally interferes, but not in the way Izuku expects, "I agree with his final verdict that he should be leading the raid. He has the most information. However, Virus, I don't think you should go with them. I get your idea, but it's too risky for how involved you are in the case-"

"That would be a benefit. If someone else were to go, they wouldn't have what I do. I understand the risk. It's not like they care for me anyway, so why should my abilities matter when they restrict me anyway."

"Virus-"

"You have trusted me multiple times before this with the stupid shit we have done. I get this is the biggest thing that I have done, but I promise I can bring them down. I just need the signal."

The President interrupts Izuku's speech, "No, and that's final. Go home, and we don't want to see you for a week. Otherwise, we will lock you in jail during the time."

"Then don't expect me at all! I'm done with this shit! I'M DONE BEING HELD BACK FROM SAVING PEOPLE!" Izuku snarls as he stomps off.

"VIRUS! THINK ABOUT THIS!"

Izuku stops and laughs. Laughs like a goddamn maniac, and it takes him a moment to settle down.

"There is nothing to think about. I'm doing what is right. I don't care if this fucks up my life. Isn't this what everyone planned anyway? For me to fuck up?"

Silently and quickly, Izuku leaves before Shouta has the chance to catch him.

As soon as Inko got the message from Shouta, she prepared for her son's arrival. Her job is to convince him that this isn't worth his life over. She's aware of the problem, and she is the only one here that can convince him to wait.

SLAM!

She knew from that moment Izuku is home, and he's pissed. She hears another slam his room along with shuffling. Inko gives her son a couple minutes to settle down, but based on the multiple crashes, it ain't happening.

Inko needs to face him now. Taking a deep breathe, she approaches Izuku's door and knocks. No response.

Inko opened her door to see Izuku in his underground costume, packing multiple supplies in a bag.

Now is her chance,

"Izuku, you're angry, I get it. Believe me. I know what it's like, but you are making a mistake."

That catches Izuku's attention for a moment, letting Inko know that he is listening. But he continues packing soon after. She sighs,

"The path of hate is a dangerous track. You take one step and it's hard to turn back. It pulls you along, and though it seems wrong, it feels right."

It hurts Inko that she is having to tell her son this from experience to keep him from making the same mistake as her. She's afraid he is going to make it anyway. She continues,

"Don't you see that this path you're on leaves a permanent mark? It feels good at first, and it slowly turns dark. With each passing day, you're further astray from the light!"

Izuku stops as he looks at her. Inko takes this chance to start approaching him.

"Suddenly, you lose your way and lose the thread! Lose your cool, then lose your head! Every loss is harder to excuse!"

When Inko is next to Izuku, she takes his gloved hands tightly and looks him in the eye.

"Then you'll see you'll lose your faith and lose your soul! Until you lose complete control, and realize there's nothing left to lose! Nothing left to lose."

Inko reaches for her son's face.

"Izu, trust me! Becoming the villain isn't the answer-"

Izuku erupts as he violently pulls from her,

"IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK I AM?"

He looks away from Inko and throws the rest of his shit in the bag, not giving a damn if it gets destroyed or not. He leaves behind anything that could be used to get in contact with him except the visor, doing a quick fix to make sure nobody can.

His voice is like venom. So much hatred at the world that treated him wrong.

"The path I'm on is a path paved in black. I'm taking that road and I'm not turning back. Each twist and each turn leads straight where I'm yearning to go."

Izuku faces his mom as he throws the bag over his shoulder.

"Yes, it's true. My path is dark but I see where it ends. My rivals will fall as my power ascends. Despise me, that's fine. I'm taking what's mine even so."

Izuku's face contorts to anger as he approaches her, causing her to step back.

"Not like you, you lost your nerve, you lost the game! But you and I, we're not the same. I'm not lost, this fate was mine to choose!"

Inko struggles to keep the tears at bay. He stops, straightening up. Inko doesn't recognize him.

"So I chose to lose my doubts and lose my chains! Lose each weakness that remains! Now that I have nothing left to lose! Nothing left to lose."

Inko couldn't hold back as the tears roll down her cheeks as she evens up with her son, sobbing aloud.

"You have so much to hold onto!"

"I only want my rightful dues!"

"Listen, please! You've lost your grip! And you've lost your mind!" "I'm not gonna lose!"

"All's not lost, don't be so blind!" "I refuse!"

"Cut your losses, drop the IOUs!" "I REFUSE!"

Izuku approaches the door as he trembles with anger once more. He just wants someone to believe in him. He's tired of being pushed around. He's willing to do anything to save somebody, but not the rest of the world.

Inko just wants him safe.

"Choose!"

"I lose no tears and lose no sleep! What I want I'll take and keep!" "It's time for you to choose!"

"You can't stop

The turning on the screws!" "The turning on the screws!"

Izuku takes a moment to consider something until he faces CAT, "CAT, stay here. Don't listen to anybody else's command. Just protect Mom and anybody else necessary." CAT meows as it rolls next to Inko.

Inko screams, "IZUKU, PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!"

"Stay here and stay safe. I love you, but I'm tired of these damn limitations."

Izuku can hear his mom fall to the floor as he leaves his apartment building.

"Now, I have nothing left to lose."

As soon as the door clicks, Inko scrambles to her phone and texts.

Inko: im sorry

Shouta: its alright. i know where to go now to stop him.

By hacking the Hero Commission system, he was able to figure out where he was needed, and he is already nearby. Turns out, they are meeting in an alleyway. He is so close-

SNAP!

Izuku tries to jump around from the sound, but he feels the familiar fabric around his left wrist. He doesn't need to look to know that it's Shouta.

Shouta is desperate to stop Izuku from doing this. He needs to be logical. That's how they rolled before. It should work now, right?

He has some distance from Izuku, but he can feel the cold aura from Izuku. He starts his argument,

"This has to stop now! Whatever it is that you're going through! We'll fix it together, me and you, just like we've always done!"

Izuku snaps as he spins around to face Shouta,

"NO! This has to stop now! This thing where you think that you've been my friend, and don't even here how you condescend! The way you've always done!"

Shouta doesn't need to be Izuku's best friend to know that the kid is speaking with raw emotion, and it hurts. He knew Izuku had pent up anger from his treatment, but he didn't realize it was this bad. But, it's valid.

Shouta starts approaching Izuku slowly, not wanting to piss him off more.

"Izuku, listen." "I'm listening."

"I know it isn't true." "Isn't it?"

Shouta is close, bending down to Izuku's height to match him.

"Just look me in the eyes now." "Well?"

"I know you feel it too." "Perhaps I do."

Shouta has a chance. Izuku's listening. He can't fuck this up.

"Izuku, listen." "I'm listening."

"I swear it's not too late. So before another line gets crossed and everything we've had is lost. Just....wait."

There is silence for a moment. Shouta holds his breathe, but he knows he lost Izuku when he sees the anger return. He doesn't know what to do-

A loud rip echoes in the alleyway, and Izuku takes the chance to jump back a few feet and glare Shouta down. In his right hand, he holds in of his emergency knives.

Shouta knows that he was ordered to restrain Izuku if he doesn't come willing, and he has done this before.

But he can't. He doesn't want to lose his friendship with Izuku. The pain and hardships the two went through. He has to be careful still.

When Izuku speaks, Shouta doesn't recognize him anymore. He's just so angry, and Shouta is  aware he should have stepped in and taken care of Izuku more-

Now is not the time to play the blame game. It's time to get Izuku back.

Izuku speaks with poison dripping from his tone.

"Wait? No, I won't wait!"

Izuku is pissed. He's tired of people blocking him. Everyone knows he is morally grey, so why are they bothering?!

He glares at Shouta trembling. His bestfriend is in on it too.

He is alone in protecting everyone.

"There's a line between the winners and the losers. There's a line between the chosen and the rest. And I've done the best I could, but I've always known just where we stood! Me here with the luckless! You there with the blessed!"

Izuku almost growls as he starts shifting his body slowing into a running position.

"And that line between the beggars and the choosers. Is a line you've never let me quite ignore! How I've tried to jump that great divide! But I've never got the chances you were given!"

Izuku's anger explodes. What has been building up over the years is finally being let out.

"YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I'VE BEEN DENIED! WELL, I'M NOT BEING PATIENT ANYMORE!"

When Izuku sees Shouta's distraught face, he takes the chance to start running towards the location. He can hear Shouta chasing him.

"I'M CROSSING THE LINE! AND I'M DONE HOLDING BACK! SO LOOK OUT, CLEAR THE TRACK, IT'S MY TURN!"

Izuku starts to slow down when he sees the League of Villains ahead, but he keeps an ear to Shouta.

"I'm taking what's mine! Every drop, every smidge! If I'm burning a bridge, let it burn! But I'm crossing the line!"

The League of Villains enter Kurogiri's portal, expecting Izuku to follow. Izuku gets closer.

"AND FOR US, IF WE'RE OVER, THAT'S FINE!"

"IZUKU, STOP!" Shouta screams as he flicks his scarf in Izuku's direction.

"I'm crossing the line."

Izuku enters the portal a second before the scarf reaches him. He has people to protect including Shouta. His life could give a damn. He's saving them no matter what.

Shouta watches Kurogiri disappear.

It takes him a moment to process what happened.

He just lost Izuku.

His just lost his bestfriend and his brother.

Somebody he would sacrifice everything for.

Shouta crumbles to the ground and screams.
