9. Finding Sam and Running Away
// Dean's POV
They rounded the side of the mountain and walked up to a set of stairs by a cliff that connected it to another mountain. Crossing the stairs was a tall, beautiful ice palace.
Olaf giggled and slowly made his way up the stairs.
"Holy shit. . .now that's ice." Castiel sighed, looking up at everything. "I might cry."
"Go ahead... I wont judge." Dean patted his shoulder and followed Olaf.
Sven tried making his way up the stairs but you know they aren't the most graceful creatures so he slipped and slid back down.
"Whoa whoa. Slow down buddy." Castiel chuckled and ran up to his friend, helping him up. "You stay right here, okay?"
Sven huffed before sitting down and looking in a different direction.
Castiel pet his head before following Dean.
Dean stood at the door with Olaf.
He looked nervous. Scared.
"Knock." Olaf said, a wide smile on his face.
Dean didn't hear and kept his hand lifted.
"Just knock."
Nothing.
"Why isn't he knocking?" Olaf asked Castiel in a shushed whisper. "Do you think he knows how to knock?"
Castiel chuckled and Dean finally knocked.
The knock echoed before the door opened, leaving Dean surprised.
"Oh, shiz. It opened." He stated, clearly shocked.
"No shit Sherlock. That's what doors do." Castiel rolled his eyes.
Dean shot him a glare and huffed.
"Shut your face. I've only known doors that don't open."
Dean began to walk inside, everyone but Sven following.
"Oh wait. You should probably wait out here." Dean explained.
"Wait-- what?" Castiel asked.
"Last time I introduced him to someone, he froze everything." He sighed.
"B-but but-- come on! It's a fucking palace made of ice! If you haven't noticed, ice is my fucking life!"
"Bye Sven!" Olaf giggled and walked inside.
"You two Olaf." Dean sighed and grabbed the stick hand.
"Me?"
"Don't worry. It's just be for a minute." Dean smiled and walked inside, leaving Olaf and Castiel to count a minute, the doors closing once he was inside.
Dean walked inside, observing everything.
It was so blue and clear-- like Cas' eyes-- WHAT NO YOU DIDN'T READ THAT.
There was a frozen fountain in the middle and two sets of stairs on either side of the room.
"Sam? Sammy? It's me, Dean!" He called, almost slipping on the ice.
"Dean. . ." Someone whispered from upstairs.
Dean looked up to see Sam at the top of the stairs, in a stunning blue suit and cape. ((I was so tempted to write Sam wearing the curve hugging dress and sashaying everything))
"Whoa Sam. . . you look different. It's a good different obviously." Dean smiled. "And this palace-- it's freaking awesome."
Sam chuckled and looked at everything.
"Thanks. I never knew what I was capable of."
"Listen, Sam. I'm sorry about what happened the other day-- if you just told me what-- "
"No. It's fine. You shouldn't apologize and you should probably go." Sam interrupted ((rude))
"But. . .I literally just got here." Dean bitch faced.
"You belong in Arendelle."
"So do you." Dean tried again.
"No Dean! Listen. . .I belong here. . .alone. No one can reach me and nothing can be altered and I can't hurt anyone. . ." Sam sighed.
"Actually. . ." Dean began but was interrupted by a certain snowman.
"SIXTY!" He yelled before running inside.
"What the heck?" Sam asked.
"HI I'M OLAF AND I FREAKING LOVE WARM HUGS!" He yelled. He was spending too much time with Cas.
"Olaf?" Sam asked.
Olaf ran next to Dean and looked up at Sam.
"You. . .you built me. Remember that?" He asked. Sam narrowed his eyes at the small snowman
"He's just like the one we built as kids." Dean smiled.
Sam smiled softly at the thought.
"We were so close...we can be like that again." Dean's smiled widened as he straightened out.
"Dean slow down..."
"If you would just come home and-- "
"No Dean. I can't. Good bye." Sam began walking away into one of the corridors of the ice palace.
"Sam wait." Dean yelled and began to run up the stairs.
"Dean go home."
Sam ran into one of the rooms and wrapped his arms around himself for protection.
"Sammy..." Dean whispered once he had finally caught up with him. "I finally understand."
"Now that I know about the whole, jazz hand ice thing, I understand. I can protect you." Dean said, walking closer to him at a slow pace.
"Dean...please go home. You can live your life in Arandelle. Go open up the gates. You can even marry Bela if you'd like." Sam smiled softly.
"But Sam-- "
"I know you mean well-- coming here to help me but...I'll be fine. You all are fine in Arandelle, away from me."
Sam began to walk away and Dean finally thought of something.
"Actually...we're not."
"What?" Sam asked, turning around and facing him? "What do you mean you're not?"
"You don't know?!"
"What happened?!"
"Arandelle is in some deep shit." Dean said, pursing his lips.
"What?" Sam asked, shocked.
"You set off some eternal winter shit and now Arandelle is covered in snow."
"No..." Sam breathed. He was panicking. This was too overwhelming.
"But it's okay. You can totally unfreeze it." Dean smiled.
"No. I can't...I don't know how."
"Of course you do! I know you can do this!"
Sam shook his head.
"I'm such a fool...why did I even think I could be free?" Sam whispered to himself.
"You don't have to be afraid." Dean reassured, trying to walk closer to him. "We can work it put together."
"I can't control it..."
"We'll just reverse it!" Dean yelled.
There was ice and snow flew everywhere. Dean tried his best to make it to Sam but his vision was clouded by the snow.
"Stop it! You'll only make it worse!" Sam yelled.
"Sammy. Don't panic."
"There's so much fear." Sam cried. "You're not safe here!"
"We can work it out we c-- "
"I CAN'T!" Sam yelled and spun around to face him, causing ice to be thrown everywhere, one of them piercing Dean's heart.
"Sammy..."
Dean fell to the floor, clutching his chest.
Sam faced him fully and gasped. He hurt him. He had hurt his own brother. This wasn't supposed to happen. Dean was supposed to live happily ever after with Cas.
"Dean!" A voice called and ran into the room. "Dean are you okay?"
It was him.
It was Castiel.
"I'm okay...I- I'm fine." Dean stated, letting Cas pull him up.
"Cas...?" Sam whispered.
"What?" Castiel asked, facing him.
"Never mind. You have to go." Sam corrected, straightening himself out.
"No. Dammit Sam, listen to me. I know we can figure this out together."
"No Dean. You listen to me. What power do you have to stop this winter? To stop me?" There were tears in his eyes.
"Dean...we should go." Castiel whispered.
"No. I'm not leaving here without my brother." Dean glared.
"Yes. You. Are." Sam scoffed and began to move his hands around and formed something.
The snow piled up and from the ground rose a large snowman. One with spikes of ice sticking up from it's arms and legs.
Dean tried to run after Sam but Castiel had dragged him away. The ran but the snowman grabbed them and carried them out of the palace.
"Put us down!" Dean yelled.
The snowman threw them one by one out into the snow.
"Go away." It groaned and proceeded to throw Olaf at them, head first, then butt.
"Son of a bitch." Dean rolled his eyes and began making a snow ball.
"It not fucking nice to throw snow people, asshat!" Dean yelled, trying to throw it but Cas stopped him.
"Dean. Calm down. Since when did you get all fussy? And that language. You've been around me for too long." Castiel chuckled and began to walk away.
Dean nodded in agreement before turning back around and throwing the snowball at the giant snowman.
"Dean!" Cas yelled.
The snowman turned around, growling at them, more spikes of ice popping out of it.
"Run!" Cas yelled and pushed Dean with him.
"Y-you guys go ahead! I'll catch up!" Olaf called behind them while he tried to stop his butt from running away from him.
"Why'd you have to go and throw a fucking snowball at it?!" Castiel yelled at Dean as they ran through the woods.
"Well I mean what he did isn't the nicest thing!" Dean yelled in reply.
"He's gaining on us!" Cas yelled.
Dean ran behind a folded tree and yanked it, causing it to whack the snowman and giving them a faster pace.
They kept running until they reached a cliff.
Castiel stopped but Dean kept running so Cas had to grab his collar and pull him back.
He quickly began shaping a U shape into the snow and pulling out the rope he had.
"What are you doing?" Dean asked, panicking.
"I'm making a snow anchor." Cas explained.
"Okay. What if we fall?"
"There's twenty feet of fresh snow powder down there. It'll be like landing on a cloud with the angels."
Dean nodded as Cas wrapped the rope around his waist and then his own.
"Okay, Dean. On three."
"One."
"You tell me when to go. I'm ready."
"Two."
"I WAS BORN READY!"
"Dean calm dow-- "
"TREE!"
And then Dean jumped, pulling Castiel with him as a tree landed where they were standing.
They slowly began to lower themselves before Olaf came tumbling off the cliff and they were being pulled back up.
The giant snowman was staring right at them, the rope in his hands.
"DON'T COME BACK!" It yelled. Cas had hit his head and was currently passed out
"We wont." Dean smiled and cut the rope with one of Cas' knifes, sending them off the cliff again.
They screamed the whole way but landed quicker than they expected.
"Hey you were right. Just like a cloud." Dean smiled and patted the snow around him.
He ended up being buried in the snow so only waist up was showing.
"I can't feel my legs. I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS!" Olaf shrieked as he clutched a pair of boots and shook them around.
Castiel emerged from the snow and sighed.
"Those are my legs." He rolled his eyes.
"Oh. . .HEY GRAB MY BUTT!" Olaf yelled as his own bottom body ran around.
Castiel helped put the small snowman back together and stood up. Dean put his hands out to the side so Cas could help lift him up.
Dean turned around and smiled at him before his expression changed into one of worry.
"How's your head?" Dean asked, lightly touching it.
"Ow-- I uh, I'm fine. I've got a think skull." He smiled. ((I bet that's not what else is thick))
"I don't have a skull." Olaf stated. "Or bones."
Sven ran up to them, jumping around happliy.
"Hey Sven!" Cas smiled.
"Aw you found us! Who's my cute little reindeer?" Olaf cooed.
"Don't talk to him like that." Cas instructed while Sven proceeded to try and eat Olaf's nose.
"So. . .now what?" Cas asked.
"Now what? NOW WHAT? SHIT! HE THREW ME OUT! I CAN'T GO BACK TO ARANDELLE WITH THIS KIND OF WEATHER! And then there's your ice business and-- "
"Hey. Don't worry about my ice business. . .Worry about your hair." Cas said, narrowing his eyes at Dean's hair.
"What? We just fell off a cliff, you should see your hair." Dean scoffed.
"No. Yours is turning white." Cas stated, his eyes widening.
Dean looked up at the tip of his bangs. They were white. Whiter than usual.
"It's because she struck you. . .isn't it?" Cas asked, looking away.
"Does it look bad?" Dean asked, placing a hand on his head.
". . .no." Castiel said a bit cautiously.
"You hesitated." Olaf informed, using his arms to hold his head.
"No! I didn't." Cas groaned.
Dean quickly turned a breath and toppled over onto Castiel.
"Dean! You need help. . ." Cas wrapped one of Dean's arms around his shoulders and used his arm to carry him from his waist.
"Where are we going?" Dean asked, leaning against him. Olaf jumped onto Sven's back and followed them.
"To see my friends. They can help."
"The love experts?" Dean scoffed.
"Ha, yea. Them."
"I consider myself a love expert." Olaf informed.
It was nice that Cas was being so nice. He could've just left him after the wolf incident. But he didn't...
Dean liked Castiel. He was too nice for his own good-- most of the time anyway.
*So hey guys. It's been so long since I've published anything for this fic. If you follow me, you should know I write a lot of stuff and I always have more ideas. Like this one fic I will publish in the far future:
Reminding Tales
Castiel finds a book at his front door. When he opens it. He finds there are rules. Well-- one rule.
One chapter a day
Castiel is willing to follow it and reads the first chapter-- which describes someone setting the book on his door step and the rest of their day.
Castiel reads a chapter a day and it's like a diary.
He finds himself falling in love with such a wonderful fictional character but...
What happens if the character, is not so fictional?
So yea. That was some self promo! See ya next time!
