Chapter 15
(Alex's POV)
I didn't know what to say to him. I was at a loss for words. All I could sputter out was an 'I'm sorry' before running out of the dorm. Luckily, I was already dressed and had my bag with me with everything I needed in it.
It wasn't time for school yet so I wasn't sure where I was going to go. I knew that none of my 'friends' would be up. I decided why not go to Starbucks since I didn't exactly get to finish my coffee. Maybe I can find something to work on.
I walked down to Starbucks. I opened the door and was met with nice cool air and the sound of a dinging bell, indicating that I had walked through the door. Walking over to the counter I ordered my usual strong black coffee with nothing in it.
I chose a seat in the corner of the room. I liked corners for some reason. I don't know why. I just do.
Once my name is called, I get up from my seat and grab my coffee. Then went back to my seat. Pulling out my old and damaged laptop. Signing in, I look over some of my work that I finished for most of my classes. Speaking of which, I got my schedule yesterday and I didn't even look at it!
I pull out my schedule and look over it. It had the name of the class, what time it would be at and beside it was the teachers names for that class. I nearly spat out my coffee when I saw what one of the teachers names is. I forced myself to swallow my coffee though which caused me to cough a bit. I didn't want to make a scene!
Mr. Hamilton
It's not him Alexander. You're fine. There's nothing to worry about. Hamilton is a... common last name. Besides, my dad could never be smart enough to be a teacher! And he has a criminal record! Surely the principal (I'm pretty sure colleges don't have principals but I don't care. Again. It's MY story, I never said it was going to be realistic! Though I do try. Sometimes) isn't that stupid to not check for a criminal record! Right..?
A little bit later I finished my coffee and looked at the time. Seeing that it was 6:30AM I decided now would be a good time to start heading to class.
Once I got there I headed to my first class which was Math with Mrs. Lewis. Math was pretty easy. Most of it was just a bunch of numbers. If you thought of it as money it makes it easier. Especially in BEDMAS.
The class ended quickly. Since it was the first day everything was easy. But this was the class that I was waiting for.
Science with Mr. Hamilton.
I was scared. What if he was my dad?! I have no idea if my dad is even alive or not but I almost didn't want to risk it. But, I made my way to class anyway.
My breathing kept trying to quicken but I tried to force it to stop.
I walked into the class and took a seat somewhere in the middle. So that I could still see the board but he wouldn't notice me much.
The teacher walked in.
And it wasn't my dad. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in. The man wasn't young enough to be my dad and even if he was, he didn't look remotely similar to my dad. At least, not from how I remember him.
Mr. Hamilton taught us science stuff, because, well, that's what he's supposed to do.
Later I went to social studies with Mrs. Lewis then made my way to business with Mr. Hamilton.
When I walked into the classroom, Mr. Hamilton wasn't in the classroom yet. I looked around at where everyone was seated and found that the only seat left was beside Thomas Jefferson. I grunted then sat in the desk beside him, reluctantly. Jefferson looked like he wanted to say something to me and was about to when the teacher walked in. I looked up at him and gasped. Everyone turned their attention toward me and I looked down, my face now red with embarrassment.
It was my dad.
"Hello class. I am Mr. Hamilton. Your business teacher. Unfortunately your science teacher and I both have the same last name so it may be a bit confusing. Now for the attendance." Mr. Hamilton said, his voice, as it had always been, very formal. Just how I remembered it from when I was young.
I couldn't believe it. I felt like crying.
I thought he was gone.........
Jefferson kept glancing at me worryingly as Mr. Hamilton read out the names and everyone replied to their name.
"Thomas Jefferson," Mr. Hamilton called. Jefferson stopped looking at me and got snapped back to reality.
"Oh, uh, here sir." Jefferson stuttered.
Mr. Hamilton nodded his head and continued on with the lost getting to my name.
"Alexander Hamilton," he called, looking around the room for me. But I knew he knew where I was. I had already felt his eyes burning into me earlier.
"H-here," I stuttered, raising my hand to show him where my voice came from. I couldn't look him in the eyes.
"Do not stutter, boy! And you say present! Not here! It's very unformal! I would have expected more from you Mr. Hamilton." He said to me. Using my last name, which I hated. I held myself back from snapping at him.
"Moving on..." Mr. Hamilton started talking and teaching and crap. But I couldn't focus. I just wanted to get out of the class. I raised my hand.
Mr. Hamilton sighed, "yes, Mr. Hamilton?"
"C-can I go to t-the washroom..?" I stuttered again which caused my to mentally face-palm myself.
"I don't know, CAN you?" He asked. I emediatly knew what he meant and took a deep breath to stop myself from getting mad at him with my short temper. And of course he was my father so he would know how to push my buttons, not that he was around much, but even so, he still knew.
"I'm sorry. MAY I go to the washroom?" I said without stuttering which made me feel proud of myself.
"You still didn't answer my question. You know it's really rude to-"
"Yes, I CAN go to the washroom but MAY I go to the washroom?!"
"...... you know it's really rude to cut someone off-"
At that point I was done and just walked out of the classroom. I went to the washroom and sat in there, waiting for Business class to be over. When it was finally over I came out of the washroom and back to the class to pick up homework. Heaven knows my father would assign homework on the first day.
"Mr. Hamilton, I never told you that you could be dismissed to the washroom, did I?"
"Cut the bullshit act I just came back for homework."
"You know me too well." He said with a smirk and handed me homework.
"Thank you," I then walk out of the classroom.
"Wait, Hamilton," he hesitated. He NEVER does that. "We need to talk."
"No shit Sherlock! How about we talk about how you left?! With all our money! Leaving us alone and abandoned! How about how you threatened me just before you left?! How about how I haven't seen you for 8 years?! What would like to talk about?! Because if you have any answers for those questions, please, I'd love to hear them! Be my fucking guest!" I yelled, then waited for a response.
"Um, maybe not put here, Mr. Hamilton-"
"Fuck you! Don't you Mr. Hamilton me! That's what I thought! Nothing to say! You don't have any answers for me so there's nothing to talk about! I HATE YOU AND THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT! MAYBE IF YOU WERE STILL ALIVE MOM WOULDNT BE DEAD RIGHT NOW!" I screamed.
Tears made my vision blurry but I ignored it and stared at him. He didn't say anything so I nodded and walked away. I went outside. I decided to call the professors and call in sick. Too many things were running around my mind right now and I couldn't focus. I felt dizzy like I was going to pass out. Luckily, I made it to my dorm in time and passed out in my room.
I'm sorry, it wasn't as long as you guys deserve. I told you I'd made a long one and I didn't... but I promise that things will start getting more interesting! You'll find out more about the secrets! Also sorry for ranting. It was stupid and it won't EVER happen again! I promise! It was stupid to look for attention and I'll take it down, you all can just ignore it for now and pay attention to the actual story! And I'll force myself to be more active on here as well! Anyway, that's it! Hope you enjoyed!
