4 - Bad Plan

Guys did you know that I'm terrible at following updating schedules? I know it's hard to believe, but it's true.

~ Lily ~

"Here you go!" Jess came into the living room with a plate. The contents on the platter consisted of a porkchop, an apple, and a water bottle. She set it down on my lap, refusing my help.

"Eat."

I obliged willingly. The food looked delicious, and tasted amazing. I devoured the meat and moved to the fruit, purposely avoiding the water bottle.

"You must've been starving after all that swimming." She laughed, sitting down. "I am curious how you got out there."

I swallowed. "I, uh, I just woke up on an island. I'm not sure what else to say."

"You just... woke up there." Jess repeated. "This may seem like a strange question, but do you have any memories of your past? Family, friends, a house?"

I shook my head. "Only my name."

"Yeah, Lily." She remembered. Her eyes narrowed slightly in thought, then they widened a little. "You must be a spawn!"

"Pardon?"

"It's nothing bad. Not an insult or anything. But a spawn is a person that doesn't come from a family. They just simply pop up with only a name to go by, and with Minecraft knowledge. The age range is usually 10 to 20. You seem like you're around 16, so that's normal. But spawns are very rare these days. You never see them popping up anymore, and only see older ones from a while ago."

"I'm... rare?"

"Your situation is, yes. It's even stranger for you to spawn in the sea. Usually people spawn in a forest or the plains. Somewhere where it's peaceful and easy."

"Oh..." I didn't know what to say.

"This must be difficult for you. All this new information." Jess said. She looked around for a minute. "Tell you what. You're here now for a reason. Maybe to get your mind off of things, we can go to the town to get some supplies? We can have a huge feast tonight for your arrival. Does that sound good?"

I nodded. I finally opened the water bottle and took a drink. Jess took the empty plate and went into the kitchen.

"We'll leave in a few minutes— I just need to tend to some chores." She called. "You can give yourself a tour of the house, inside and out!"

I got up slowly, leaving the half full water bottle on the table. There wasn't much to see of the house anymore— except those two doors upstairs, and the bathroom. But those doors were locked, and I didn't need to use the bathroom.

I walked toward the door, and opened it up. The sun shined bright, and the air was warm. It was a beautiful day with a light gust of wind.

There was a gravel path, so I followed it. It went around the house to the right, and led to a farm. There was wheat, potatoes, and carrots. At the end was some pistons blocking a line of water sources. I guessed that there was a lever or button to push for the water to wash all the crops away when they're ready.

I walked a little further around the house. There was a fenced off area that was about 40 by 40 behind the home. There was a small building with three wood walls and a wood roof that acted as a shelter. Hay stacks were next to it. Two horses were grazing in the grass. One was a black one with white specks on the flank and muzzle, and another was a beautiful light cream color with a black mane (Spirit, anyone?).

I walked closer to the fence. It was easy for them to jump it, but I guess that they liked the hay, so they stayed.

The two horses heard my footsteps, and lifted their heads up. They both started to walk slowly toward me, expecting food. When they reached the fence, I slowly pet both of their muzzles.

"Beauties, aren't they?"

I jerked around and saw Jess standing there smiling. She walked up and started scratching the black one's head. "This one is Capricorn, named after the constellation Capricornus. You see that his white flecks kinda make out the pattern, yeah?"

I leaned to the right to get a better view of his hip. It did indeed look like the triangular constellation.

I looked at the other horse. "What's her name?"

"His." Jess corrected. "And it's PB."

"PB?" I repeated.

"Stands for peanut butter. I'm not really good at names." She winced.

"I like it."

She smiled. "Thank you. So do you like animals?" Her smile fell when she finished that. "I mean, I know you don't really know, but you should know if you like being around animals... you know? Okay I'm sorry that doesn't make sense."

I laughed. "It's fine. I do like animals. These horses are very beautiful."

Beaming, Jess added, "I tamed them myself. Take turns riding them into town."

"Are we going to ride them?" I asked. My heart raced at the thought.

"Yes, we are. But don't worry, I'll let you take PB. He's a good horse. Easy to ride. And it's also not very hard to ride a horse, if you handle them right."

"Oh, okay." The concept seemed pretty hard.

"And don't worry. I'll help you."

~ Amber ~

Let's just say it was an interesting trip.

We spent the beginning walking in silence. Occasionally he would try to start up a conversation, but I quickly shut it down. And it was weird because usually I'd be the one to start a topic or say something funny randomly. But at that moment I wanted to get to Hidenburg as soon as possible.

After about two hours, we rested near a pond. I used the water to wash my bloodied hand (the one I pressed over the wound). I didn't know whether or not to wash the puncture. It could get infected if I didn't, but if it started bleeding again, then it would be a mess.

"Do you need something to wrap that with?" Sky noticed. He looked around, then started taking off his shirt.

"Woah woah woah!" I closed my eyes and pushed my hand toward him, telling him to stop. After a few seconds I opened my eyes to see him with his top on, and an embarrassed look.

"Sorry." He muttered.

Part of me wanted to laugh at his misery. I managed to keep most of it in, only with a few snickers let out. "That's okay."

"Wait!" He took his blue bandana off. "Will this do?"

I stared at it. "Ye, that'll do." I tried to grab it, but he pulled away.

"No no. I'll do it. You can't with one hand."

I started to protest. However, he lightly took my wrist and made me hold my arm straight out. He covered the wound.

"Let me know if it starts to hurt." Sky said.

I nodded, and he started to wrap it tightly. I winced, but the pain subsided.

He tied a knot, and leaned back. "You're good."

"Thanks." I said, rubbing the bandana. "It may get stained."

"No problem." He chuckled.

We just looked around for a few minutes. It was kind of awkward, but finally I cleared my throat. "We should get going."

He looked at me for a second, but realized what I said. "Yeah! Yeah. Yeah totally. We should, uh, go."

We both got up, and continued on our way.

~<>~

It took longer than I thought.

A few hours later, I realized it was getting darker. We couldn't stop to have dinner because we didn't have any food. So we went nonstop, resting every house or so. However, mobs were going to spawn soon, and we weren't very well equipped.

"Wait." Sky held a hand out in front of me to stop me. When I froze, he pointed ahead. There was a creeper roaming about about 20 blocks away. Crap.

"Stay here." He drew out his wood sword, and crept closer. When the creeper noticed him, he charged forward so the mob didn't blow up near me. When the creeper was about to blow, he backed up. It stopped and walked closer. Sky jumped and plunged his sword into the creeper's stomach. It disintegrated after a few seconds, almost blowing up. He stood up and smiled at me.

I raised an eyebrow, but smiled back. However, it faded when I saw what was behind him. "Sky look out!"

He turned around to see the horde of 4 zombies coming toward him. He backed up.

I heard a groan behind me. It belonged to a zombie, along with his friend. I gave a groan myself and ran to Sky.

"Plan?" I asked.

"Uhhhh kill them all?" He responded.

Sigh.

At that moment, I remembered my loot from the spawner. "Sky, do you have a crafting table and stick?"

"Yeah...?" He frowned, still eyeing the zombies. "Why?"

"Give them to me."

"Okay...?" He tossed them down.

I quickly picked up the items and placed the crafting table down as Sky charged at a zombie. I ignored what he was doing after that, and made an iron sword. I thought about how I had no armor, and also made a chestplate.

"Woah." Sky said from behind me. "Where'd you get the gear?"

"Dungeon." I put the chestplate on. "Brb."

I charged at one of the two zombies on my side. I rolled to the right to avoid the lazy swing, and stabbed it through the side. The zombie groaned, and I pulled my sword out and kicked the mob into it's friend, which made it disintegrate. The unhurt zombie still went for me, so I threw my sword. I impaled the zombie right between the eyes, killing it. I went over and picked up the sword from the ground.

Sky was having a little trouble. He was facing 3 zombies now, only with a wood sword and no armor. I ran over and sliced at a zombie. The weird thing was, my arm didn't hurt. It should've, because I was straining the muscle, but maybe it was getting better.

A minute later, all the mobs were dead, and we had a few rotten flesh in our inventories.

"Wow." Sky breathed. "That was... fun."

"More fun if we had more armor." I put my sword away and walked over to the crafting table.

"Yeah... Good thinking by the way. You're a good fighter too."

"Thanks." I grinned while breaking the table. I tossed it to Sky, who put it away.

"Should we keep walking?" He asked. "It's more dangerous now, but unless you want to get there asap, we can keep going."

"We should." I decided. "We're almost there anyways."

And so we continued.

After a little bit more of walking and killing mobs, Sky shook me out of my mindless thinking.

"Amber? Is that it?"

I looked up, and gazed at the mountainsides. It was a giant network of bridges and caves alongside three giant mountains. Houses jutted out of the dirt and stone, continuing inside the giant mounds. The valley in between the three also had buildings, with a short stone wall to protect them from the mobs. Despite it being late, lights lit up the whole place and made out people walking around and working. It was a really wicked sight.

"Yep." I confirmed. "That's Hidenburg."

~<>~

Lmao when I first came up with the town's name, it just kinda came to me. Now I remember that Hindenburg was a name of a farting camel from a book I read. GG.

Also as much as I'd like to create Hidenburg (like I really do), it's too much work at the moment, so I've just googled a few pictures of the general idea:

Basic idea.

Also I made myself a makeshift time schedule, so this is what I got so far:

Lily and Cole: about 2:30 pm
Amber and Sky: about 7 pm. Sigh I need to figure this out in an easier way.

So yeah. Uh, again I'm terrible at schedules. So like idk.

Rock on, my little rebels.
