Confession Booth
Wrap a tape around your fractured soul,
Your wine is spilling on the floor.
You're painting the white marble red,
It'll be quick, I say, you'll see no gore.
Leave your cloak and daggers at the door,
A dead man doesn't need protection.
No, you're just an innocent,
I'd like to add to my collection.
Your linen doesn't hide your crimes,
I'll speak in church, and I will lie.
Father may be deaf, not blind.
Cross my heart and hope you die.
These silver bells are tolling felony,
Tears running through your lungs.
Step on the ladder, twist your neck,
Hanging from these treacherous rungs.
These walls are closing in on me,
The cross is turning upside down.
Serrated black in my peripherals.
In a sea of sins, you drown.
Your holy water can't cleanse my soul,
Nor heaven badger me for truth.
Veracity a timely crime,
Save the courage for the confession booth.
