Mike POV:

She started swinging her bat at all those infected. Blood and sweat flew through the air. Not only from the infected but from Tohru as well. She stood firm for about a minute. But there were too many of the infected attacking her. She then suddenly screamed in pain. AAARHG... She was bitten in the leg. Blood streamed everywhere on her leg.

1.. I felt awful that she had to go through this

2.. She swung her bat at the head that was biting her.

3.. She continues with fighting..

4.. Oh I hope she will survive..

5.. She falls down..

6.. She tries to stand..

7.. Another infected bit her.

8.. This time in the arm.

9.. She is still fighting

10..Blood and screaming everywhere..

19..Hina looked furious, she smiled at me..

I ran at full speed down the stairs, I need to be by her side quick. I don't know how much longer she can take this. When I was outside I heard my friends run downstairs as well. I ran towards her, she turned around and saw me. She smiled, she was relieved. She was struggling to stay on those legs. Her legs were shaking heavy and the blood on her left leg didn't stop. I saw she was in a lot of pain. I didn't think of what to do next, I just reacted. I killed nearby infected and when I was close enough to the girl. I grabbed her by the hips and throw her over my shoulder. She was shocked, I felt her body tensed up. Her legs were like paralyzed in my arms and the rest of her body was above my shoulder. She reacted fast, she took my gun that I was wearing under my arm and shot at infected that were behind me. I was first shocked, afraid that she might kill me instead. But how could she I mean, she is just a child trying to survive. We were both shooting as much and as fast as we could. My friends came into the fight at the moment when the girl took my gun. The look on Hina's face when she saw the girl grabbing my gun was furious and afraid. I think she thought the same, she was afraid the girl might kill us. But luckily she didn't. I was amazed about the child, I mean she knew how to handle a gun and she shot with precision. Even with one arm that was bleeding heavy. I mean she was bitten there. I was truly amazed about this child.

The infected there was no end to it. They kept coming, then I decided we can't take it like this for any longer. I then screamed: "YOU GUYS!!! WE HAVE TO GO TO THE VAN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!!" I saw my two teammates looking at me and nodding. I started running not holding back with the shooting, neither did the girl. Joe was the closest one to the van, so he screamed to me: "Mike, I go ahead, I start the van. When you are close make sure that you and the girl cover Hina!" I responded "YEA SURE!! Keep the engine going!!" He nodded and ran with speed, I never saw him running that fast. The girl then said to me, "You keep running I will cover for Hina. That's her name right?" I said Yeah, and thank you. She smiled, but kept on firing. I ran at full speed, it still amazed me that the girl didn't had trouble with shooting even when I was running full speed. I am like tree hundred feet away from the van. I heard Joe screaming "MIKE RUN FASTER!! QUICK COME IN THE VAN!!" Then I felt Tohru stiff in my arm and she started to hit me on the shoulder. M-MIKE!! Please sa-save her!! I turned around. The girl turned her head to look in terror. Hina was running for her life, but the infected were closing in. I was shocked, I run as fast as I could to her to help her. She screamed at me: "GO IN THE VAN MIKE!! I'M NOT GONNA MAKE IT!!" The girl's eyes went big and she took the gun and started shooting at the infected. But that didn't last for long as she run out of ammo. I was confused and didn't know what to do. Then I started running backwards and shooting at the infected as well. When suddenly. It was all too late.

One infected grabbed Hina and bit her, Hina was screaming and she looked afraid. I felt horrible. I couldn't save my teammate. The girl in my arms was shaking again, I could see some tears in the corner of her eyes. She was trying to be strong and trying not to show it. I then decided to run as fast as I could to the van. Where I saw a shocked Joe. I got Tohru on the chair at the back and turned around. Joe jelled "COME IN THE VAN MIKE!! QUICK!!" Hina was running towards us, but not the Hina I know. She was an infected. She looked awful and was screeching horribly "... M-Mike...ki-kiill meee." I understood directly and didn't hesitate to kill her. I shot her in the head and then jumped in the van. The moment I jumped in the van Joe floored the gas pedal. The tires were screeching and we were off. I saw the girl behind me still shocked looking at the place, where I killed Hina. She was sobbing and then I heard her ask. "Why did she have to die? Why did you guys save me? If you didn't save me... this." I interrupted her. "STOP IT" I said mad. Because I know where this was going. She looked at me with red teary eyes and a little shocked. "Don't think that way!!" I said to comfort her. Then Joe said: "Kid don't worry, we all wanted to save you. We were all prepared when we went on this trip that we might not come back at all." She looked amazed and sad at the same time. "B-But..." Then I reassured her "It's okay, we're going to Metropolis and you will be save." She nodded. Then she started to bind her wounds. I went to her side, it did take me some efforts to go at the back of the seats. Then I took some of her pieces of clothes out her hand. And bandaged her wounds. So looked at me with worry and sadness. I think she remember things she didn't want to.

Everything is going to be alright. But first things first, we didn't properly introduced us to you. She looked up and said. "My name is Tohru I'm eleven years old and apparently I'm immune. I have no family left anymore." Then she was silent and didn't know what to say. Then I broke the silence and said to her "It's okay you don't have to tell us your story of you and your family. But when you're ready to share it Joe and I will be glad to listen." She looked happy after those words and whispered a thank you. Then I introduced myself. "My name is Mike, but some call me Big mike or Big Mikey. I think you understand why. I'm like the leader at metropolis. I have no family left either. The people inside metropolis are now my family. The guy who is driving is called Joe. He may look scary but is very nice. He has a sister somewhere, but he can't find her. Joe is an expert with guns and computers. You can trust him." Then Joe responded: "Jo kid!" Then I continued. "The woman who was with us." Tohru looked from Joe to me in shock. "Her name was Hina. She was one of the most beautiful woman at Metropolis. She wasn't liked by everyone though. She had an attitude, that you might have noticed. Only to people she truly trust she shows her girly and vulnerable side. I think Joe and I both had a crush on her." Joe stuttered in respond "H-Hell n-no!" Then at my surprise the girl laughed.

Then she asked after I had introduced us and bandaged her up. "Is metropolis real? Like what they say about it?" "What do they say?" I asked. She looked confused, because I didn't know. "You never heard?" she asked in disbelief. "No I haven't" I said. Then she started "Metropolis or how people call it the legend or the safe haven. It is a place where everyone can live in peace without worry of the infected. A place that is like heaven. A home base to all survivors and where all kind of people are together." I then laughed. She still looked at me with confused eyes. Joe started laughing too. I saw her eyes turn from Joe to me to him in confusion. "Why are you laughing?" She asked. "Because I guess maybe it's right what they say. Metropolis is a safe haven. It is a place many call home, but completely save it isn't we get attacked by them as well. But because of the big walls we can defend us."

The girl was amazed and then she yawned. I told her it was still an hour drive. Not long after that she fell asleep, at her face it looked like all the problems she had just vanished.
