After the feast Draco helped me find my way to the common room but Severus stopped us in our tracks.

"Congratulations Melissa for getting into Slytherin, i'm sure you will do well in my house, and I see you have made friends with Mr Malfoy here" 

"Yes, I have, he's helped me learn a lot about Hogwarts already...Professor"

"Right, I think you have potions tomorrow both of you with the Gryffindors, so I shall see you then"

"Bye!" Draco said then turned back to me

"It's nice that Professor Snape cares for you, I would want someone to care for me if the dark Lord was my father"

I gave a weak smile and we finally reached the Slytherin common room, we entered and I gasped, it was a very neat and comfortable looking room, with lots of cushions and chairs placed around a fire.

"Wow this is amazing!" I squeaked

"It is, and we have our own dormitories, boys and girls are separate, so you will probably be with Pansy" Draco gestured to the sour faced girl who was in the corner of the room reading a book.

"Good to know..." I muttered "right I think I should head off to bed, see you tomorrow Draco!"

"Goodnight Melissa"

I smiled and ran up to the girls dormitory, I got changed into my night clothes, got into bed and fell asleep silently...

When I awoke I glanced at the clock and saw it was six o'clock in the morning, I decided I better head down to the common room and check it out. I got changed into my school wear and headed down to the common room, I smiled as I saw Draco, sitting down on one of the chairs. A few moments later I realised he wasn't smiling at me he was smiling at someone behind me.

Pansy barged past me and went to sit next to Draco. I felt anger rush through me as Draco put an arm around Pansy.

"How was your holiday Pansy?" Draco asked

"Very well, Thank you Draco" she replied

Draco faced the stairs again, and saw me

"Good morning Melissa"

"Morning" I muttered, my eyes suddenly welled up with tears and I ran back to my dormitory

"Melissa wait!" Draco called, but I didn't wait

"Leave her Draco, leave her to strop" Pansy whispered Slyly

Those words of Pansy's hurt me and I was surprised that I didn't knock something over in the dormitory.

After a while, I snuck into the common room and saw Pansy and Draco had departed. I went down to the great hall, (well just about) I followed the wall of paintings that I remembered from yesterday. I walked into the great hall and saw Draco and Pansy, jealously stirred up inside me. I couldn't help but think of ways to get revenge on Pansy. I really was my fathers daughter...

I sat down next to Crabbe and Goyle who would hide me from Draco, I was well hidden until the post arrived and Thea dropped a letter on my head, blushing as I saw Draco watch this, I slowly grabbed the letter off of my head. I opened it carefully and recognised my fathers writing, it wasn't often that he would write letters:

Dear Melissa 

I have been informed you made it to Hogwarts, good, now I have a simple task for you, spy on Harry Potter for me, that's the real reason why I sent you to Hogwarts. You know I have to kill him, he defeated me and I am to be avenged, you have a whole year to do this, and then you will return back home.

Voldermort.

Of course my father would never put, dad or father I was his daughter for crying out loud! But oh well, I have to deal with it...I had to tell Draco about this, he would know what to do, I had to get through to him somehow even if he was going out with sour faced Pansy.

I looked up from the letter and Draco was staring at me with a confused/ concerned look, I must of been pale or something, because he got up grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of the great hall.

"What's wrong Melissa?" Draco asked

"Father has sent me a letter saying I have to spy on Harry Potter, and he said that was the real reason he sent me to Hogwarts. I'm really disappointed because this place seems really great and stuff"

"So your saying you have been told to spy on Potter? Well I can help you with that, we have potions next and he is in the same class, but hold on what sort of spying are we doing?"

"i don't know he just said spying..."

"Oh well, we will have to do without..." Draco paused then faced me again "Melissa, why did you run away from me this morning?"

I paused, I noticed that my fists were clenched crushing the parchment in my grip

"B-because...It's nothing...."

"Yes it is!" He said a bit annoyed but then he but a finger under my chin and spoke softly "tell me Melissa"

"Fine, maybe I was a little bit jealous of Pansy..."

"Don't be, my parents are just making me go out with Pansy, I don't even like her, I just have to."

"Ok..." I said feeling slightly stupid, and after that we made our way back into the great hall.
