33. Lost Once More

Carry on my wayward son. . .

There'll be peace when you are done. . .

Lay your weary head to rest. . .

Don't you cry no more. . .

"Cas wait!"

Those were the last words he heard before everything went black, the song still playing. It was one of Dean's favorite songs. But it wasn't the classic rock one he would swing his hips and tap his foot to. It was a soft. Like a lullaby.

Those were the last words he heard before it all went black.

\\ 3 HOURS BEFORE //

// Castiel's POV

Castiel and Dean walked into the house, hand in hand.

They had just been engaged. Each at the same time.

Gabriel and Sam kept running around the house talking about the color theme for the wedding.

"What time is it?" Castiel asked walking into his room.

"Around nine. Why?"

Castiel's smile grew and he ran towards the closet to pick a new outfit.

"Sam, Gabriel! Time for bed!" Castiel yelled.

"What?! Why?!" Gabriel whined. "It's not even a school night!"

"Fine. Then you two can go stay at Jessica's house for the night."

"WHY?!" Gabriel yelled again.

"Because Dean and I, are going out."

"YOU ARE?!"

"We are?"

"Yes Dean. We are. Boys, pack some clothes or something and go over to Jessica's house."

"Eww I don't wanna!" Gabriel groaned and crossed his arms.

"Come on Gabe. They might be gone all night and no one will be here to make us food. Now if we go to Jessica's house, there'll be food just waiting for us!" Sam convinced.

Gabriel groaned again but walked into his room to grab a bag full of candy before stepping out, grabbing Sam and his toothbrush and waiting at the door, Sam following after him.

"Dean could you take them next door?" Castiel asked, a worried tone in his voice.

Dean groaned but walked out of the house with the younger boys, taking them next door.

Castiel grabbed a pair of jeans, a shirt that hugged his body tightly and a leather jacket.

He looked down at his hand and at the engagement ring.

He was engaged to Dean frigging Winchester. The man he met in high school as a nerd and had flirted with him countless times.

They were getting married. It was going to be wonderful.

\\ 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES BEFORE //

"So where are we going?" Dean asked as he pulled on a leather jacket.

"I'm not sure actaully. A bar. I just want to celebrate." Cas shrugged and kissed Dean's cheek.

Dean smiled, grabbed the car keys and Cas' hand and walked out the door, towards the Impala.

"So what are we celebrating?" Dean asked as he drove out the driveway and towards their destination.

"We might be celebrating me kicking you out of the house for not knowing what we're celebrating."

Dean laughed and shook his head. Looking at the ring on his finger.

"How did you even afford this?" He asked, looking back at the road.

"Well I've been saving up money for some reason and I figured I could use it." Cas smiled and looked out the window.

The rest of the ride was silent. Dean would occasionally look at Cas and think about how lucky he was to have him, and vise versa.

Dean pulled up to a cabin-like bar by a lake and parked in the driveway. They both got out and walked inside.

There was music blaring from everywhere and people bumping and grinding on each other. People were knocking other people over because they were so drunk and some were just in corners, making out.

"How lovely." Castiel sighed and walked around to get them drinks.

// Gabriel's POV

"So Sam, how have you been?" Jessica asked, twirling her hair with her index finger.

Could this girl not take a hint?! Gabriel had literally kissed Sam in front of her and she knws he can talk, why the heck was she still flirting with Sam?!

"I've been okay..." Sam looked around the living room. "Can I use your bathroom?" He asked, nervously.

Jessica smiled and told him where to go, and Sam was gone.

"So Gabriel. How long could you talk?" She asked.

"My entire life, duh."

"How come you never told Sam?" She asked, smirking.

Gabriel knew what she was doing. And if any of you were there, you could see the lightning bolts flickering from their eyes.

"I didn't feel comfortable with it..." he hesitated.

"What if Sam had taken it the wrong way?"

Gabriel clenched his hands into fist and gritted his teeth.

"But he didn't."

"I know he didn't. But what if he had? What if he was angry with you? What if he hated you? What if it all went wrong and you never had a chance with him?" She asked, sitting up straight and smirking.

"Shut up..." Gabriel whispered, looking down, tears forming in his eyes.

"What if you told him you loved him but he didn't love you? You would've done it for nothing an-- "

"SHUT UP!"

Gabriel and Jessica both turned to see who just said that. Sam stood at the door, his hands balled up into fist and he was glaring at Jessica. He glance once at Gabriel who already had tears streaming down his cheeks.

"Sam. . .?" Jessica asked, hesitantly. She slowly stood up and walked over to him. Gabriel watched as she placed her hands on his shoulders and smiled. Gabriel felt more tears stream down his face and he looked away.

"I think it's time we should go. Gabriel grab your things." Sam instructed. Gabriel looked back up at him in confusion.

"Why? You two just got here." Jessica asked.

"I think you know exactly why." Sam spat and pushed her hands off him.

"I actually don't. You just barged in here telling me to shut up when I hadn't even said anything." Jessica smiled innocently and batted her eyes.

"Oh. you weren't saying anything? Then the whole speech that made Gabriel cry was just in my head? I don't think so. Gabriel just doesn't cry without a reason."

"Sam, it's okay. . ." Gabriel whispered, his hands shaking.

Sam's face softened and he sat next to him, pulling him into a tight hug.

"Shh, it's okay Gabe. . .don't ever think I would be upset with you for not telling me you could talk. Don't ever think I wouldn't love you because of it. I love you, okay?" Sam soothed.

Gabriel nodded and buried his face in Sam's chest.

They heard other sniffles behind them and it turns out, Jessica was standing there crying.

"Fine. . .I accept you love Gabriel. I hope you two are happy. Gabriel, I'm sorry." She cried before running up to her room.

"What happened?" Her mom asked, running around frantically.

"Sorry Mrs. Moore. We had a few emotional problems but I think it's best we leave." Sam smiled and stood up, Gabriel still in his arms.

Mrs Moore nodded and wished them a good night before going into Jessica's room.

// Castiel's POV

"A toast! To the newly weds-- er, engaged!" A man yelled and a group of people lifted their glasses towards Cas and Dean.

Somehow they had all figured out they were engaged and everyone kept congratulating them.

Dean was laughing and so was Cas. They had both drank a ton and were both extremely uncoordinated.

Dean had been fumbling around the bar, dancing and talking to a bunch of people. Cas just fumbled over to a pool table and played with another group of people.

Every five minutes, another drink.

Castiel could feel his head pounding and the room was spinning.

\\ 15 MINUTES BEFORE //

Castiel had calmed down a bit. The bartender kept giving him water now and he was still a bit tipsy but he could manage.

It was late and they should've been going home, but Dean was extremely drunk so he couldn't drive.

Castiel walked around the bar, looking for Dean.

"Dean! We have to go!" He yelled, fumbling around the bar.

He walked around for a while before finding the keys on the floor. What was Dean thinking losing them? Anyone could've taken them.

"Dean?" He asked, reaching down for the keys and almost falling.

When he stood back up, he wished he could disappear. He wished he wasn't actually looking at one of his nightmares.

Dean was sitting in one if the booths of the bar with none other than Lisa. She was leaning next to him and Dean didn't look quite comfortable.

Castiel stood there.

Lisa looked around before spotting Cas. She glared at him before smirking and leaning into Dean so she was kissing him.

Dean looked shocked but he didn't move and ended up closing his eyes.

Castiel felt his eyes swell with tears. Everything was frozen.

He didn't even know he had started running until he was outside.

He had no idea where to go. Everything was spinning, as if drinking all that water hadn't helped at all.

Then he remembered. He had the car keys.

Castiel fumbled around the parking lot, looking for the Impala.

He got inside and started the engine, as soon as he did, the radio turned on and the lullaby version of Carry On My Wayward Son began playing.

"Cas!" He heard Dean yell from the door but he didn't care. He pulled the Impala out of the parking space and drove away fast, tears streaming down his face.

Carry on my wayward son. . .

There'll be peace when you are done. . .

Lay your weary head to rest. . .

Don't you cry no more. . .

"Cas wait!"

There was the screeching sound of tires and a loud crash then, darkness.

Castiel wanted it to be over. He wished he hadn't seen that. He wished he had picked another day to take Dean to celebrate. Why was she always there?

It was dark. Castiel could hear distant screaming and sirens. It was dark.

He didn't even see Dean push Lisa away. . .

He ran too fast, he didn't get to see Lisa being rejected and Dean telling her he loved Cas and didn't want to cause trouble.

He didn't get to see it. . .

*Hello. I feel like you guys hate me. Well THAT'S WHAT I HAD TO DO MY PIES! Do not worry! It will be happy again! I hope. Don't kill me guys. See you next time.
