66. LARA: HONEYMOON
"I'd feel much better if—"
"We'll be fine," Silas assured Devrim. "My senses are a lot better than they use to be. I don't think anyone would try anything. We'll be taking a business class plane. You told me that we need to stay off radar and that's what we'll be doing."
Devrim and Silas stared at each other silently. My eyes darted away from them towards Obsidian who was leaning casually against the car. He had a cigarette hanging from his lips and his eyes were obviously focused on Vanya. A small smile slid onto my face. So she was the one he had feelings for.
"Lara."
My eyes snapped towards Silas. "Yes?"
Amusement filled his eyes. Without saying a word, he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me against his side. I instantly relaxed against him. We were officially married! We were now husband and wife. I glanced down at the ring on my finger and smiled. Silas wore almost an exact replica.
"Do you have anything you want to do before we leave?" I glanced up at him. "We have about half an hour before our plane leaves."
My eyes darted over to Obsidian again. "I just have to talk to someone. I'll be right back."
Without waiting for a reply, I stepped away from Silas and made my way towards the brooding man. Obsidian glanced at me when I stopped next to him. He sighed and reached up to pull the cigarette from his mouth. To my amusement he actually threw it to the ground and stomped on it. No man had ever put out their cigarette in my presence like he had.
"Hey."
He grunted. Some of my confidence faded.
"How are you?"
He blinked at me. I sighed and then leaned against the car next to him. Mirroring his stance, I watched Vanya like he had been watching her. She was totally oblivious to his gaze on her.
"Just go for it."
"W-what?" he croaked.
I straightened and turned towards him. He was frowning down at me with his lips pursed. I swallowed and then gave him a small smile.
"You know what I've learned since I met Silas?" He didn't answer. "I learned that life is too short to worry about the 'what if's' and live with regrets. You might never get the chance to be with her. When we were at the cliff, what was the first thing you thought of?"
It looked like he wasn't going to answer me, but he surprised me when he answered my question without any hesitation. "Vanya. I thought of Vanya."
"Stop being a pussy," I smirked even though colour was flooding my cheeks from embarrassment. "Take a leap of faith, Obsidian."
I gave him one last smile before I spun around and headed back to Silas. He smiled but didn't ask what I said to him. With a few more goodbyes, Silas and I headed towards the airport building. It was a lot bigger than the one in Silas's home town which I couldn't understand since we were on an island.
Just the thought of his home made pain flash through me. I instantly shook the thoughts away. What happened had happened. Nobody could change that but we could make the best of what we had now. It was time to start our new life together.

I stretched lazily under the sheets and sighed.
My body instantly relaxed again. I opened my eyes and blinked up at the ceiling. A few rays of sun were slowly starting to fill the room. One glance at the clock on my beside table assured me that it was still too earlier to get up. I turned my head and smiled when my eyes fell on Silas. He was peacefully asleep on his stomach with both arms stretched over his head and buried underneath the pillow.
My eyes trailed lower over his bare skin. The sheets had slipped down but only covered his ass. I would never get tired of watching him. I smiled and turned onto my side to move the strands of hair from his forehead.
When Silas told me that we were going on a honeymoon, I never expected him to have rent a private island. We were totally alone on an island and I had to say that I loved it! There was no place I rather be than here on an island with my husband. He said that we could stay as long as I wanted to.
Silas stirred and then turned onto his back. I waited for him to wake up, but he didn't. He was fast asleep which wasn't that surprising. We went to bed at two o'clock this morning. Pushing myself up onto my elbow, I leaned over him and pressed a kiss against his lips. A gasp fell from my lips when his hand shot up and gripped the back of my neck.
His lips parted beneath mine and his tongue delved into my mouth. I moaned, and reached out to grip his shoulder. Silas suddenly ripped the sheet away and pulled me on top of him. His arousal was hard to miss and it matched my own. I broke the kiss and trailed my lips over his chin and down his neck. A shudder raced through him when I nipped at his neck where my mark was.
"Fuck," Silas groaned. "I want you, sweetness."
I smiled against his skin. Silas gripped my hips when I moved lower. I circled his nipple with my tongue and then sucked it into my mouth. A low growl fell from his lips, making his chest vibrate against my lips. His body jerked and his hold on my hips tightened when I bit down. Another curse fell from his lips.
My lips trailed lower and lower until I reached the sexy V that led down to his very aroused flesh. I wrapped my hand around his cock and my lips around the tip. The sweet salty taste of his pre-cum instantly assaulted my senses. A moan slipped past my lips as I took him deeper into my mouth.
"Lara," he growled.
I gasped when he suddenly sat up and gripped my arms. Silas had me on my back and was hovering over me within seconds. I stared up at him in surprise. He spread my legs with his before settling between them. My lips parted but the words died down when he entered me in one thrust.
His lips smashed down on mine again as he stated to fuck me. I wrapped my legs higher on his hips and dug my nails into his skin. My actions seemed to spur him on. The sound of the bed slamming against the wall and skin slapping on skin was drowned out by Silas's low growls and sounds of pleasure.
Silas threw his head back and roared when he reached his peak. The feel of his cock twitching inside me and then the sudden pressure of his cum, made me follow him over the edge. His body slumped against mine, pressing my weight deeper into the mattress. My body started responding again when his lips trailed up my neck. He nipped at my earlobe before raising his head to stare down at me.
"Hi."
He chuckled. "Good morning, sweetness."
"A very good morning," I muttered.
His smile widened. Silas shifted until he leaned onto his elbows. One of his hands got buried in my hair and his other reached up to trail his knuckles over my cheek and down to the crook of my neck. I could see the pride shining in his eyes as he stared at his mark. Was he feeling the same as me?
"I marked you."
"I marked you too."
His eyes shot up to mine. Silas seemed to hesitate but he spoke anyway. "Remember that day I picked you up at your apartment for Andrea's weddings?"
The mention of Andrea's name made some of the happiness fade. It's been so long since we talked and I really missed her. I swallowed and then nodded at him.
"Remember in the car when I was fingering you?" Colour flooded my cheeks. "You bit me then. You have no idea how badly I wanted to mark you right then. I wanted you to bare my mark."
"You knew then?" I asked softly. "You knew that I was yours?"
He licked his lips. "I knew the moment I met you that you were made for me, Lara."
Tears filled my eyes. How could I not have known like he had? Why was I so damn confused and he was so damn sure that I belonged to him when I still doubt him? I cupped his cheeks and leaned up to kiss him. I poured every ounce of love I felt for him into the kiss. It was slow and sweet and so unlike any other kiss we've shared before which made the tears spill over.
"Lara—"
"I love you so much, Silas," I quickly interrupted. "I won't be able to live without you."
"And I wouldn't survive without you," he whispered. "Luckily we get to life a very, very, very long life together."
I smiled at him. "Is that so?"
Silas shifted his hips. "Shifters live for a very long time, sweetness. We age slowly and we never get tired of fucking."
"Well that's good then," I said huskily. "Show me what you got, baby."

"What about a hike?"
"A hike in this weather. Are you mad?"
"You'll love it, I promise." Silas slipped his arm around my waist and pulled me against him. "There's a great view at the top and a place where we can cool down." His head lowered. "We can have a picnic and make love under—"
"There are no stars out yet, Casanova."
He chuckled and buried his face against my neck. "If that's what you want, sweetness, I'm sure it could be arranged."
I sighed when he started placing open mouth kisses against my skin. "I'd like that very much."
Silas packed a picnic basket while I went in search of some towels and a blanket we could use. When I returned, Silas had about everything ready. All that was left to do was for us to change our footwear before we hit the trail.
The walk was hell but the view was spectacular. We spend a few minutes enjoying the view before Silas led me down another trail and to a waterfall. We swam in the small pool before we stretched out on a blanket under one of the trees and enjoyed our lunch. I had fallen asleep soon afterwards, only to be woken by Silas who made slow wondrous love to me until we both fell asleep again.

"How long are we staying her?" I asked Silas softly as I glanced at him from across the table.
His eyes darted up to mine for a second before dropping again. "How long do you want to stay?"
I studied him as I pondered over his question. It's been a few days since we went on that hike and I couldn't help but feel like something had happened. He had received a phone call shortly after we had returned from the hike, and whatever it was about, it made him withdraw from me slightly.
"Why do I have the feeling that you really don't want an answer to that question?"
Silas sighed and pushed the cutting board aside. Without saying a word, he got up, grabbed the board and carried it over to the counter. I jumped when he just dropped it. Instead of turning back to me, he gripped the edge of the counter and hung his head.
I frowned and after only a moment's hesitation, I got up and walked over to him. His body tensed when I pressed my hand against his back.
"Silas?"
"I need to go for a run," he said. "Stay inside the house, Lara."
He didn't look at me when he stormed out of the kitchen. Silas stopped, glanced up at the sky and then started stripping. I watched him as he shifted and then took off running. My shoulder sagged the moment he disappeared from sight.
I cleaned the kitchen and then wondered around the house. I wanted to go for a walk along the beach, but he had told me to stay in the house. My frown deepened with every passing minute. Who had called him? Had I done something to upset him? As I turned from the window, my eyes fell on the closed office door.
Curiosity ate at me and usually I wouldn't be snooping, but if it meant finding out what happened to Silas then I would jump at the opportunity. My legs felt like jelly as I made my way towards the door. I gripped the door handle tightly and blew out a breath before I pushed the door open.
The room was clean like I knew it would be. Silas hated a mess. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. My fingers trailed over the spines of the books as I walked around the room. I smiled as I remembered the last time I was in this room. We christened about every surface we possibly could.
I sunk down in the chair behind the desk and leaned back. My eyes darted over to the books. There was a wide variety of genres to choose from. The owner of this house sure liked to read. I sat up with my mind made up, but as I moved to stand my eyes fell on Silas's phone.
Grabbing it, I swiped my thumb across the screen to unlock it. Instead of it being the home screen, it opened up on Silas's messages. Ethan's name was at the top of the messages. I hesitated but opened the message when I realized that it had already been read.
Hey brother, how are things going? How's Lara? I hope both of you are doing okay and enjoying your honeymoon. I've got some good news. . .I'm a father! My baby boy was born early this morning. He's so fucking small but the most beautiful thing I've even seen. God, I can't wait for you to see him. Mom says he looks just like we did but I don't believe her. Anyway, I have to go. Just wanted to let you know and find out how things are going.
I reached up and wiped the tears away. So he had a baby boy. I scrolled down and froze. The air was knocked from my lungs when I realized that Ethan had sent a picture—two actually. One was of a baby wrapped in a tiny blue blanket. It was clearly taken as soon as he was born. Another photo was of Ethan holding the baby in his arms and staring down at him. There as another message after the photo.
Got any names? Avery wants to name him after her brother. I don't think that it's a good idea. Maybe you got something that she might like.
I quickly locked the phone and placed it back down with a shaky hand. He had a baby boy. Surely the baby was born too early? I couldn't help myself; I reached for the phone again and looked at the pictures. Tears filled my eyes and slowly trailed own my cheeks as I stared at the photo of the baby.
What would it feel like to hold him? Would he smell like baby powder? Would he open his eyes and stare up at me or maybe smile? Would he clutch at my finger if I placed mine in his hand? A sob fell from my lips as the pain in my chest intensified. It could've been our baby—Silas's and mine.
"Lara?"
The phone slipped from my as my head jerked up. Silas stood in the doorway with his fists clenched at his side and his chest heaving. His eyes dropped to the phone and then darted back up to my face.
"I—" He swallowed loudly. "I was going to tell you."
Silas entered the room and walked around the desk. He hesitated and then knelt on the floor in front of me. Shaky hands grabbed mine and raised them to his lips. They lingered on my knuckles for a few seconds before he lowered them.
"I'm sorry, Lara. If I could then I would change things. I would make it hurt less for you. I would go back and change what I had done."
"Y-you can't d-do that."
"Lara—"
"If you go back t-then thing w-would be different," I hiccupped. "W-we would never have met b-because you would n-never have l-left home."
He blinked at me and then smiled. "That's true. Tell me what you're thinking, sweetness."
I swallowed and licked my lips. Pulling my hand from his, I wiped the tears away. It was hard to put my feelings into words. It was hard to explain exactly what I was feeling. Silas got to his feet and pulled me along with him. He led me out of the house and down to the beach where we sat down on the sand. He kept hold of my hand but he didn't push me into talking.
"I feel envious," I finally said. "I feel like that's suppose to be our baby, the one that we lost because of me."
"It wasn't because of you. I explained things to you, sweetness. It would have happened no matter what."
"Silas, why did you marry me?" I turned towards him. "Why did you marry me knowing that I would never be able to give you a family?"
Silas gripped the back of my neck and pressed his forehead against mine. "I married you because I love you and I can't imagine spending the rest of my life without you. So what if you can't give me a baby. There are hundreds of thousands of children out there who needs parents."
"W-what about what we are? How are we going to introduce a human child into our life if we have to go back to live with the pack?"
"Maybe the child won't be human. Maybe he or she will be like us." He gave me a small smile. "There are a lot of packs out there, Lara. A lot of children who had lost their families by war, sickness or other unpredictable deaths. They might not be our blood but we could give them the family they deserve. What do you say, sweetness?"
"I'd like that very much," I whispered. "With you. I'd like that with you."
He pulled back and cupped my cheek. "And Ethan?"
His eyes darted between mine as he waited for my answer. I licked my lips and then gave him a small wobbly smile. "He has his own family now."
