Chapter 5
Fiona held her breath. "I don't know what are you talking about?" Fiona gulped while that soldier only got in. "How are you feeling now?" He asked and Fiona could tell he didn't know.
Fiona only stared at him shaking her hand before she whispered, "Better,"
"We have to leave for Dark feral right away," Fiona too didn't know why she was trusting this man. But anything that could get her away from the capital was enough.
She remained silent when they got her discharged from the hospital. David had a Jeep that didn't have a roof. She couldn't help but wonder what news he was talking about. There was no way he could be helping her after finding out that she was the daughter of Addison Walter. Then, what this news was about?
David pulled in front of a little shop on the highway to buy her some juice and a little bag that had some food. Fiona didn't thank him but accepted the packet. The guard smiled and was quick to start the conversation. "There will be no place coming to buy any food. It's better that we stock..."
"Where are we going?" Fiona asked,
"I met your mistress. She has no problem if I take you to your dad's place."
"You talked to Paula?" Fiona almost gasped and wonder how she could be alive.
"Yea, it seems your mistress is having quite a hard time. Her mate is killed for..." Fiona got her hands tightened around the bag and had her eyes teary. She abandoned Troy. How he must have been feeling learning that? She could tell Troy was devastated realizing Paula left him.
"Your father is dead, Fiona." The guard said and Fiona couldn't help the gasp.
"What?" Fiona looked at him wondering if he knew about her identity.
"Your father died two days ago. It seems he was here to look for you after your mother died." Only now did Fiona realise he was talking about Sienna's father.
"How...did you figure out who my father is?"
"Well, I already told you that there aren't many people and guess what? There are even fewer with blonde hair. And, then it seems Mr Phipps came to know about your mother's death. And, it only shortlisted you.
Sienna didn't have blonde hair. Fiona only wonders if she was being given to the right family or not. But there was no way she could have any say.
It was after sixteen hours when David let her sleep at the backside of the jeep. Fiona only woke up to witness the sun rising and give in to sleep again.
"Hey..." Fiona woke up with a hit on her head and found a tall guy who looked in his teen years standing only a foot away from the jeep. He had a few stones in his hands and was about to hit her with the next one that Fiona tried to dodge with an arm over her face. "...wake up you sleepy ass." Fiona looked around to find the jeep parked and wonder where David was.
"Who is she?" A girl who seemed to be the same age as Fiona appeared from the side of that guy and asked. The teen guy was quick to guess. "I am sure she is a new maid. Isn't she too pretty to be a maid?" The little girl crossed her arms over her chest before she shook her head. "I don't think she is pretty. She does look like a maid."
The guy was about to throw another pebble in Fiona's way when all of them were startled. "Hey don't!" Fiona noticed a man in his jeans and shirt. This indeed made that boy stop. But only noticing David following that man relaxed her.
"Why would you do that to anyone?" Alpha Tate was quick to ask.
"What happened, Dad? I thought she is sleeping in the jeep without asking. I was only helping our guest Mr. David..."
"Are you ok?" David came to ask Fiona and was quick to pick her up to help her come down. David looked at Alpha Tate. He didn't say a thing but was disappointed about who was going to be the future Alpha of their pack.
"I thought she is safe here. Mrs Phipps isn't taking her in and I guess we should leave..."
"You can leave her here." That teen boy was quick to say but David looked at the Alpha of his pack, Tate. "Not after how these kids behaved," David said.
"Don't call my heirs, kids. You know Tony only recovered from his fractured leg. He is not himself today. Why don't we keep her in the orphan house? There are only thirteen other kids and you trust Bella. Don't you?" The mention had David relaxed before he nodded. "Yea, I think I can."
Though David asked Fiona if she wanted to go back to her mistress Paula, Fiona didn't answer. She knew living in the capital meant coming across Thomas. And, after seeing his evil face she didn't want to see Thomas ever.
Fiona knew Thomas was never going to even think about Dark Feral. Fiona knew about the place because she was always into reading about the different packs. But whatever she read was never enough to prepare her for this new life.
The whole pack had houses made of wood. There were some bigger manors in the pack but she didn't pay much attention to any. One could imagine they had moved fifty years back. Even the models of the cars were outdated. David left her in the orphan house that had six rooms. She was to share her room with four other girls and the other kids were excited about the addition. She was the only one with golden hair and blue eyes. Even at dinner time, she had all the attention. How she didn't reply to any of the questions, kids had started whispering behind her back.
It was in the next day when she was told how she was supposed to do the dishes and other chores. Bella asked her what she was good at and she only shook her head. She didn't know any of this stuff. Bella who seemed to be in her early thirties paired her with two other girls to pick things from the clearing they had at the back of the orphan house.
There were only three swings and Fiona only stared at the other girls who were having fun playing tag. Fiona couldn't help but move to the clearing and out of the orphan house. This Dark feral pack was famous for how black their wood was. And, had most of the people doing wood trading.
There wasn't a single thing Fiona could get accustomed to. Her bed was hard, the room was small and even the walls were chipped. There was no view when she walks to the window and every other day when she woke up she was reminded of what she used to be.
She hated her father and more than anything hated herself. Every other breath was a reminder of how she was supposed to be dead. Every other bite of food she takes she knew she had no right over it.
The school here wasn't a very famous one too. The whole pack only had one school. In fact, if it wasn't compulsory Fiona didn't want to go to any school. There were hardly three hundred kids and her classroom had forty of them. Most of the students were of her age.
A boy named Jared who too used to be quiet and was picked by other kids becomes her silent partner. It seems they both didn't want to be questioned about anything. If it wasn't about going to school or chores they were found in the library. Jared wanted to join royal forces in the future. Even for this statement, he was picked by other kids for how he seemed weak and thin.
Though no one could see it Fiona could tell Jared had the courage. He only didn't like bullshit. His parents died in the riots too and were in the special forces of the castle. Fiona knew she was responsible for this one too. Jared too only knew how life used to be in the capital and with his parents having done great financially Fiona could tell he was finding it hard living here too.
Tony, the future alpha of the Dark Feral would come with his sister, Sami on the weekends and the duo only meant trouble. Fiona and Jared couldn't help but wonder why other kids wanted to be friends with them when they didn't have the least amount of decency in them. What Tony and Sami called high-end life, Fiona and Jared knew was nothing. But everyone except them would fancy the sibling duo. And, it gave Tony even more of a reason to bully them. And, given how old he was such behaviour didn't suit him at all. He was fifteen but had nothing of how a fifteen-year-old future Alpha should act.
It was six months past the riot when it spreads that the capital had made some agreements with Dark Feral. They were given a lot of budgets to improve things. Fiona would go to the library to read any news but even newspapers here only had articles without pictures. It seems no one in here wanted to work.
But with the budget came many people. Some wanted to invest here and some were looking for work.
With budget came better plans too. The moment it was announced that adopting kids will get people extra income. Their orphan house was empty. Fiona wasn't the only one who was mad over this fact. No one wanted to leave this place they had come to know as their home. There were many applications coming and pups were preferably given to the ones who had any kind of distant relationship with them. Fiona knew she won't match any application but the moment Jared left with his aunt Fiona knew she was alone again.
Fiona was the last person and Tony had already sent a request for her. He wanted to adopt her for himself. Bella didn't approve this request though saying no to the future alpha came with a lot of pressure. She was already aware of how Tony bullies Fiona. Bella had to call David so he could see if anyone in the capital wanted to adopt her. And, though Fiona had her sleep gone after learning that Tony wanted to adopt her she knew she couldn't afford to go back to the capital or any place that was close. Fiona requested Bella that she didn't want to go to the capital but Bella didn't seem to care. It wasn't difficult for David to find a willing family after the new law.
That very evening another application was submitted for Fiona. And, this time it came from her supposed stepmother, Mrs Phipps. Bella called Fiona for her office and Fiona realized that it was either Mrs Phipps or the capital. Though the fear of the unknown was there she knew there was no way she could step into the capital again. She didn't want to admit but her hair and eyes had always gained her attention. And, she was positive that Thomas was still looking for her even after six months.
She agreed to go with Mrs Phipps and it was only when she got there she realized Mrs Phipps had a manor right beside Tony's place. Mr Phipps was beta and had a nice home and status in the pack. With the investments coming Mrs Phipps was gaining benefits too. And, if realizing that Tony will be close wasn't enough of a nightmare for Fiona, she was taken aback to find she has seven stepsisters.
Three of them were triplets and were younger than Fiona, Beth, Kathy and Mia. The rest of them were the same age as Tony and Sami.
Mrs Phipps wasn't the one who came to adopt her. It was the eldest daughter, Kate. Kate was quick to tell her how she is supposed to follow whatever she was to tell her. And, Fiona didn't have any option but to nod.
It was only on the first evening that Fiona heard growling like nothing before. She too came out to witness two she-wolves fighting.
Fiona stood beside a girl who had a beautiful smile on. One could tell she was enjoying the fight. And, finding Fiona's attention that girl looked at Fiona.
"It seems you are Fiona...I am Chelsea." Fiona gulped and looked at the she-wolves fighting. "It's Kate and Ivory. They are strong, aren't they?" Chelsea asked but Fiona remained quiet. This made Chelsea look at her. "If you are to stay here. You better respond to my questions. You get it."
Fiona nodded and knew she has gotten the wrong attention. She looked into Chelsea's eyes and realized she can't read her vibe. It was either too strong or Chelsea had other special powers. She was the first person Fiona couldn't read anything about. Chelsea didn't have any vibe to her. And, when she didn't stop looking at her Fiona gulped in terror.
A Chevy pulled up and Mrs Phipps came out. The moment Fiona noticed Mrs Phipps she knew she never wanted to look at her. Everything about her vibe gives hate and resentment. Mrs Phipps was quick to cease the fire. But the moment one of those wolves got her eyes on Fiona it came at her and attacked her.
Mrs Phipps ran to save Fiona and was quick to kick the she-wolf before looking at Fiona. "Call a doctor she needs stitches."
