Chapter 7
"Aw, that's no way to treat your elders, mutt," Austin smirked, looking up and down at Camila's body.
"Elders shmelders. I'm only talking to you cause I was ordered to,"
"But aren't you the Alpha? Didn't know you were somebody's bitch, mutt,"
"Quit calling me mutt! I'm a purebred," Camila said, slamming her locker.
"You're not, actually. You're a half-breed since your mom was a," Austin shuddered "human,"
"Don't you dare talk about my mother," Camila glared, "She would be here if it wasn't for you,"
Austin's glare hardened, looking down at Camila. "I told you I had nothing to do with that,"
"It was your species,"
"Don't be racist, Cabello,"
"How the fuck was that racist you moron?"
They glared at each other for what seemed like an eternity. Camila, for a scare factor, flashed her eyes gold and bared her fangs. Austin's eyes widened as he squealed like a little girl. Camila grinned.
"McVey isn't in my coven. I couldn't have stopped him if I tried. You know that," he glared at the floor, avoiding Camila's eyes.
"You could of tried," Camila grumbled.
"What did you need, anyways?" Austin asked, crossing his arms and leaning against the lockers.
"I need a way to contact Justin," Camila said, slinging her bag across her shoulder.
"Great. So do I,"
"Wait, what?" Camila furrowed her eyebrows. "He's the leader of your coven,"
"Actually, no he's not," Austin said, dusting off his blazer. "He left like, last year,"
"Left?"
"Actually we kicked him out,"
"What the fuck,"
"A new guy replaced him. Some ol' Irish guy,"
"Bieber's gone?"
"Yeah, is your animal brain too dumb to function or something?" Austin asked, annoyed. "It's like you're not even listening to me,"
"If Justin is gone, why didn't any of you bloodsuckers tell us?"
"We didn't want to associate him with dogs, he's pure,"
Camila rolled her eyes. "Well tell this new guy Liam and I need to talk to him,"
"Why?"
"Because we need to talk to him about the murders,"
"Why?"
"Cause they happened in our woods,"
"Why?"
"I don't know, that's why I need to talk to him,"
"Why?"
"JUST PASS THE MESSAGE ALONG YOU FUCKING DORITIO!" Camila screamed, not knowing why she called Austin a Dorito.
Austin glared at her. "You have some nerve-"
Camila grabbed Austin's head before slamming it into the lockers, making a dent into the wall. She then grabbed his arm and twisted it until he screamed. Her eyes were golden.
Austin screamed in fear; Camila was only like this when she was extremely annoyed or when she was about to attack something. This happens to all werewolves when they got angry.
"You are going to do exactly what I say Mahone," Camila growled, her voice getting deeper. "You are going to march back to your territory and tell the leprechaun to meet me and Liam to talk about the deaths. I will hunt you down if you don't,"
Austin nodded, fear all over his face. Camila's eyes softened, turning back to brown.
"Oh my god," Camila gasped in horror. "The wolf came out,"
"You should get that checked out," Austin suggested, pulling out his phone to check his reflection.
"Did you have to get me all bloody?" Austin whined, watching the gash on his forehead close but the blood remaining.
"I-I didn't mean to lose my temper," Camila said, embarrassed.
"It happens to all mutts, doesn't it?" Austin said, pulling a comb out of nowhere to brush his greasy hair.
"It hasn't come out in a while," Camila looked down at her shoes, not knowing what to say.
"I mean it was going to develop sooner or later. You can't help your rage. No mutt can. Don't beat yourself up, kid,"
Camila looked up quickly and gave Austin a weird look. "Why are you being nice?"
Austin's eyes lit up with fear. "I'm not being nice! I hate you! Ew, dogs!"
Camila scoffed. "Yeah, okay. Just make sure you tell the leprechaun to meet me,"
"Fine, whatever mutt," Austin said. Camila felt a breeze whoosh by her, and Austin was gone.
~~
"Maybe you should talk to her," Normani suggested as her and Lauren stretched at practice the next day. "Dinah explained a lot to me yesterday,"
"I already told you, I'm not going to talk to her. It's a joke, Mani," Lauren said, rolling her eyes.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, what?" Lauren said, giving Normani a weird look. "You honestly believe werewolves exists?"
"Also vampires and witches,"
"You're delusional," Lauren snapped.
"Am I though?"
"Yes," Lauren crossed her arms. "And tomorrow I'm confronting Camila to tell her her 'Lunar claim' on me is something so messed up that I'm actually concerned for her health,"
"So you'll talk to her?"
"No!"
"But you just said-"
"I know what I said!"
"So you are going to talk to her?"
"No, I mean, yes, I mean, um,"
Normani smirked, crossing her arms. "Dinah told me it would be impossible for you to stay away from her,"
"Dinah is also in on this joke,"
"I believe her though,"
"And I worry about that,"
~~
"New coven leader?" Liam asked, eyes looking wild. "How come we didn't know about this 'new coven leader?'"
"Austin said they kicked Justin out of the coven last year, and they replaced him with some Irish guy," Camila said. Liam asked her to come over to his house after her meeting with Austin. The rest of his pack was lurking in the living room pretending not to listen while Liam and Camila talked in the kitchen.
"An Irish vampire?" Liam asked, confused. "We live in Georgia, where would an Irish vampire fit in?"
"I mean Justin was Canadian," Camila shrugged, licking the icing off of the cinnamon bun Liam gave her.
"Is this why we haven't heard from the vampires in what, a year?"
"Probably,"
"I don't believe this," Liam ran a hand through his hair. "We had a deal!"
"Well maybe the new Irish guy doesn't wanna be a part of this deal," Camila said calmly. "Austin said something about not wanting to tarnish this guy's purity or something,"
"Purity? Like, virginity?" Liam took a sip of his coffee, leaning on the counter.
"Not sure,"
"I don't understand. I mean obviously this guy knew about us since we divided our woods into three sections and the other vampires know about us, so why hasn't this guy-"
Suddenly there were three sharp raps at the door. Camila and Liam shared a glance.
"Were you expecting company?" Camila asked.
"No, just you, did any of the members of your pack say they were coming over?" Liam said, crossing his arms.
"No..."
"Um, Liam, Camila, you might want to see this," Harry, a member of Liam's pack, called out.
Liam and Camila walked towards the door. They saw Harry along with the members of Liam's pack standing around a blonde man in the doorway.
"Hello ladies and lads! What's the craic?" the man asked, giving all of them a cheery smile.
"The what?" Jade asked.
"What's the craic?" the man said again. He had a thick Irish accent.
"Who the hell are you?" Ashton asked, crossing his arms.
"Oh, where are my manners?" the man laughed. "My name is Niall Horan. One of my coven mates told me you wanted to speak to me?"
Liam and Camila looked at each other, surprised.
"You're the new Wolf's Point coven leader?" Camila asked, shocked. "But you seem so happy-"
"Camila, shush," Liam ordered, covering Camila's mouth with his hand. She bit him before he took his hand away.
"What the girl means is," Harry said, pausing. "You seem so cheery for someone who is... um, dead,"
"I prefer undead," Niall gave them a toothy grin.
It's a trap Perrie sent in the link between Liam's pack.
Are we sure? Calum asked.
He seems so nice... Harry said.
Because of the awkward silence, Camila knew the older pack was having a telepathy conversation. She nudged Liam, silently asking him to tell her what they were saying.
"Um," Liam coughed. "It's nice to meet you, Niall,"
"Pleasures all mine, sir!" Niall smiled. The awkward silence lingered.
"So..." Ashton said, twiddling his thumbs. No one knew what to say.
Jesy cleared her throat. "Do you want to co-"
Leigh-Anne slapped her hand over Jesy's mouth, then looked at Liam. Her eyes silently asked him Should we?
"Why don't we all sit outside in the front yard? We have a table, and um, chairs. I'll get us all some beers," Liam suggested, avoiding inviting Niall in, being cautious in case he would regret it later.
Camila's eyes lit up as she looked at Liam excitedly.
"Not you," Liam said. "You get a Sprite,"
Camila grumbled, walking outside with the rest of Liam's pack.
"So, are you the little missy Austin was telling me about?" Niall asked Camila, walking up beside her.
"Excuse me?" she said, forcing a smile.
What did that brat say about me? Camila thought.
Who? Dinah asked in Camila's head.
Austin
Ew
"Austin told me about some teenage werewolf Alpha that goes to his school, the one who told him that the wolves wanted to meet with me, I'm guessing that's you?" Niall flashed Camila a toothy smile.
"Yeah. I'm Camila,"
How's the meeting with Liam? Bea asked.
Great. I'm talking with the new vampire leader right now, Camila answered.
WHAT? Dinah yelled, making Camila wince.
New vampire leader?! Ally exclaimed.
Long story, tell you later Camila said.
Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, you tell me right now! Ally demanded.
"Where's your pack, love?" Niall asked.
"Oh... back home..." Camila tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
Liam walked out with cases of beer and a can of Sprite. He passed them out to everyone then sat down next to Camila.
"So, Niall, thanks for meeting with us," Liam said, giving the vampire a smile.
"No problem, mate," Niall grinned. Camila wondered if he would ever stop grinning or smiling.
"How come you haven't come sooner? Austin told Camila you've been coven leader since Justin left a year ago," Perrie asked.
"Didn't know you wanted to meet. I thought you'd be the one to contact us vamps," Niall said casually, popping the cap off his beer.
Liam cleared his throat, "Well, since the deaths in the forest-"
"You know what lad," Niall said, leaning forward. "This is my first meeting with y'all, let's not make it a downer,"
The werewolves all looked at each other uneasily.
"Um, we asked you to come here to talk about-"
"Yeah, I know," Niall stated. "But let's get to know each other first. How about a barbecue?"
"What?" Liam asked "You want barbecue?"
"Why not?" Niall gave them a silly smile. "How about it, all of you guys, plus Camila's pack, come over to vampire county for a good ol' fashioned BBQ,"
Camila raised her eyebrows. Liam nudged her shoulder, silently asking what the other Alpha thought.
"Sure, okay," Camila sighed. "When?"
"Tonight,"
"How about instead of vampire county, why not just have it here?" Liam suggested. "We already know the coven, they hate us, but why not the two packs and Mr. Smiles over here have some quality bonding for ourselves,"
"Okay!" Niall grinned. "I could use a night off from the coven, thanks,"
"Camila, message your pack," Liam murmured, "Tell them to bring meat and stuff,"
Guys, come to Liam's, and bring steaks Camila said.
What? Why? Shawn asked.
Liam and Niall want barbecue, I guess
Who's Niall? Luke asked.
Long story, just come, and bring groceries
~~
"I don't understand why we're doing this," Dinah muttered to Camila. They were currently sitting in front of a bonfire with Liam's pack and Niall. Niall was telling everyone stories about growing up in a small village in Ireland.
"What year were you born?" Bea asked, while laughing at one of Niall's stories.
"1432," Niall giggled. "I was turned when I was 21,"
"Jeez, you're old, grandpa," Harry joked.
Liam sat down next to Dinah and Camila and offered them plates of food.
"Where's Zayn?" he asked quietly.
Camila gave him a sympathetic look. "He didn't come, I think you know why,"
Liam looked down, sad. "I just- I just thought..."
"I know," Camila put an arm around Liam's shoulder. "I'm sorry,"
"Just... have him call me. Please?" Liam asked before getting up and walking away.
"I feel so bad," Camila said, digging into the food Liam gave them.
"It's not your fault," Dinah comforted as she shoved steak into her mouth. "Zayn chose to leave, we didn't force him to do anything,"
"I know," Camila sighed. "But I feel like they kinda blame us for what happened,"
"That was not our fault either," Dinah said. "You know that,"
~~
"Okay, come on, Lauren, you can do this," Lauren said to herself as she sat in her car.
She'd been sitting there for twenty minutes, preparing herself for what she was going to say to Camila.
"Camila, you're nice and all, but I think you need psychiatric help," she tried. "No, that's mean,"
"Camila, I do not want to be your 'mate' or whatever, so I hope we can still be friends?" was another thing thing Lauren tried.
"You are not a werewolf because they do not exist so leave me alone," was the last one. Lauren decided the second one was the nicest.
Lauren walked into school with her head held high. She looked through the crowded hallway to try to find Camila, which wasn't hard since her minions surrounded her.
As Lauren walked up to Camila, her friends scattered, leaving Camila looking confused.
"Hey," Lauren said, tapping Camila on the shoulder. She turned around, wide-eyed; surprised Lauren was willingly talking to her.
"Uh, hello," Camila said nervously.
Lauren decided to go right into it. "Okay, you seem nice and all, but I have no interest in being your mate and-"
"Believe me, you were not my first choice either," Camila huffed, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"I- what?" Lauren was taken aback.
"I mean, if it was up to me, I would have chosen Ryan Gosling or Chris Pratt or someone, but it's not up to me, it's up to the moon goddess, and she chose you," Camila said calmly.
"There is no moon goddess!" Lauren said, slightly offended that Camila said she wouldn't have picked her for a mate.
Wait a minute Lauren, there is no such thing as mates! Lauren scolded herself.
"Denial is common," Camila shrugged.
"I'm not in denial," Lauren scoffed, crossing her arms. "You're not a werewolf,"
"Yes I am,"
"No you're not,"
"Yeah I am, and I can prove it,"
"I'd like to see you try,"
"I will!"
"Yeah right,"
"I'm serious, Lauren!"
"Oh, bite me, Cabello," Lauren said, rolling her eyes.
Camila paused. "Okay,"
Before Lauren could react, Camila grabbed Lauren's arm and sank her teeth into her wrist.
