Chapter thirty: Happy Christmas? 

So Christmas at the burrow began and all went smoothly. Presents were handed out, and many thank you's were exchanged. 

"Cor blimey! How much wrapping paper do we get through?" George chukled looking at the floor which was now swarming in wrapping paper 

"Not enough!" Fred laughed "I need a few more pieces to cover our room!" 

"Well looks like your in luck because Lucy seems to be still holding her presents!"

Lucy sure enough still had a pile of presents on her lap, she didn't really want to open them. She hadn't expected this much and thought it was rather nice but at the same time wrong. She didn't desrve these! 

"Right..." Lucy whispered as she picked up a package which was a small box covered in wrapping paper, the little tag said 'to Lucy, Merry Christmas! From Fred and George' 

Lucy opened it with care making sure she didn't rip any of the paper (even though it would go straight in the bin anyway.) Next she reached the box, she undid the piece of tape that sealed it and opened the two flaps in which covered the present. 

Just then something gold whizzed out and flew around the room quickly before returning to it's owner. Lucy reached out a hand and the snitch sat in her hand, landing gracefully then hiding it's wings so it couldn't fly. 

"How did you guys get hold of this?" Lucy questioned as she examined the snitch, she tucked a piece of long brown hair behind her ear and waited for the twins to tell her the answer 

"Well me and George are clever you see! We went through a lot of trouble to get it!" Fred shrugged 

"You shouldn't have!" Lucy sighed placing the snitch back in it's cardboard box then placing it inside her enchanted bag. She then reached for the next package which was larger, she again opened the package with care then pulled out a bright pink Weasley jumper with the letter 'L' in turquiose 

"Congratulations!" George declared "you just got a Weasley jumper!"

"A what?" Lucy questioned 

"A Weasley jumper, mum makes us one every Christmas! Now put it on! We're all wearing one so you have to as well!" Fred laughed grabbing Lucy's jumper and forcing her to put it on

"Thank you Mrs Weasley!" Lucy smiled as she smoothed down her hair 

"Your welcome dear" Mrs Weasley replied 

Lucy opened a few more presents (sweets e.t.c) and then she had finished. She helped Mrs Weasley place the wrapping paper in the bin. Afterwards she sat down next to Fred and George and the whole Weasley family spoke amongst themselves. 

Just then a beating of wings could be heard from outside the window. Everyone turned to see two owls gripping a long and thin package which they could just about carry! They flew over to Lucy and dropped the package on her lap suddenly.  

Lucy turned the package over nervously as the Weasley's looked at her as though she was holding a bomb. A little label with some writing on caught Lucy's attention, she turned looked at it and read it aloud:

" 'Dear Lucy, I know your old broom broke not so long ago and I thought I'd better get you a new one because you can't play quidditch without it, love dad. And P.S, this is one of the finest brooms around' "  

Lucy looked up at the Weasley's they looked as baffled as she did, so Lucy thought the only option was to open the package. She carefully tore the brown paper off avoiding all the Weasley's eyes out of embaressment. Finally she tore it all off and was left with a - 

"Sweet Merlin! That's a firebolt!" Ron gasped, he looked as though he was going to snatch the broom from Lucy

"The firebolt has just come out!" George gaped at the broom as though it was pure gold 

"What's so special about it?" Lucy asked holding it up and examining it 

"It's the fastest broom yet! We'll be sure to thrash the Slytherin's with this thing!" Fred smiled 

Lucy smiled nervously but wanted to get the broom out of sight from the Weasley's because she knew very well that the Weasley's couldn't afford much and she felt bad for them. 

"Well! I think it's time for lunch now! Come on!" Mrs Weasley said slightly frustrated, breaking the silence quickly. 

The Weasley's departed from the front room and headed to the kitchen to eat thier lunch. After that the family split up around the house to talk to each other. Lucy sat with Fred and George in their room and they discussed Lucy's new broom.

"That thing is amazing Lucy! I can't believe your dad got it for you!" Fred whispered grabbing the broom and holding it as though it was the most precious object in the world

"You two can borrow it when we get back to school in quidditch practices if you think it's that great!" Lucy laughed  

"ME FIRST!" They both said together 

"Calm yourselves! You'll both get a turn!" Lucy laughed 

"Yeah but i'm - " Fred began but Lucy glared at him because he was going to say 'i'm your boyfriend!' 

"Your what Fred?" George asked 

"Um..." Fred began 

"He's better than guitar at me! Is what he was going to say!" Lucy squeaked (it pained her to say it) 

"That's impossible Fred!" George sneered, before George could say anything Mrs Weasley told them all to go to bed 

Lucy shook her head when she left because the twins fought about who was the better twin because they wanted to use Lucy's firebolt first. She departed to her room but still heard the twins fight as she fell into a deep sleep...
