Chapter 12: A Discovery

After a while Snape headed back to his quarters where he found Lucy sitting in one of the leather chairs playing her acoustic guitar, but as soon as he entered she stopped.

"What took you so long?"

"I, er had to clean up"

"Right..."

Lucy didn't sound convinced but ignored the subject. "Dad, i'm going to the Gryffindor common room, I need to speak to Fred and George, and it won't matter if there are dementors lurking around because now I know how defend myself" she said proudly standing up and shoving her guitar in her bag.

"Very well, don't be long though" Snape said, as Lucy led herself out of the door

Lucy made her way to the Gryffindor common room slowly, she was trying to see if, just if she could find a dememtor to practice the patronus charm on. But sadly that night all the dementors must of been fed up of Lucy hunting. Lucy sighed and lazily said the password to the fat lady who opened the portrait door, and she stepped in.

When she walked in she saw Fred sitting alone staring into the fire innocently, but when he saw Lucy his face seemed to brighten up a bit.

"Lucy! I wasn't expecting to see you! What brings you here?" Fred asked surprised and confused at the same time

"I don't know I was just a little fed up of spending every night in Snape's quarters so I thought i'd visit the Gryffindor common room and see how my friends were getting on"

"That's nice of you, but we haven't been up to much, everybody's just left for bed, including Shona she seemed a bit different, but I couldn't work out what it was..."

Lucy sat down next to Fred and stared into the fire, when she told her dad she wanted to see Fred and George about something, she really only meant Fred, but she was too embarrassed to say what she was thinking. She had the conversation all planned out in her head but she couldn't seem to speak her thoughts.

"Fred?" Lucy asked

"Yes?"

"Do you like me?"

"Of course I do! your a great friend!"

"I know but, remember when I was in first year and we lost a practice game to the Slyherin's and you found me by a nearby tree and I was playing the guitar?" Lucy was getting her words out really quickly, Fred only just caught up with what she was saying.

"Yes?"

"You were saying along the lines of you liked me, really liked me, and I told you I wasn't ready?'

"Yes" Fred was waiting very patiently even though he sort of knew what was coming

"Well, maybe I changed my mind since then...What if I felt the same way..."

But before Lucy could say anything else Fred hugged her.

"You don't have to say it, i know its embarrassing you" Fred whispered in her ear

Lucy's heart raced, and the butterfly's in her stomach seemed to multiply by the second, Lucy didn't speak she just wanted this moment to last forever...But Fred let go and smiled, Lucy leant on his shoulder, and silently fell asleep...

It had been an hour since Lucy left Snape's quarters and Snape was starting to get worried, so he headed down to the Gryffindor common room. But as he reached the portrait door, he remembered he needed the password...

"Password?" The fat lady asked

"No, i'm going to stay outside thank you very much!" He spat, but as if by magic Jessica walked out of the common room

"Oh hello Severus! What are you doing here?" She asked cheerfully

"I'm looking for my daughter, she left an hour ago for here, so I was wondering if she was still in here"

"She's in there but, you might want to see where she is..." Jessica pushed open the door and Snape followed, luckily no-one was about apart from two people sitting on the sofa by the fire.

"What the?!" He whispered shocked, he saw Lucy asleep, on Fred's shoulder, Fred was asleep as well...

"I think your little girl's found love..." Jessica whispered "just like I have found with you..." She spoke softly in Snape's ear softly

"But in love with a Weasley!" Snape normally would of replied to Jessica's comment but he was to shocked about Lucy being in love with a Weasley. But just then Fred woke up

Snape just stared at Fred in shock, Fred didn't answer, he didn't move

"YOU!" He whispered harshly walking over to Fred "why is my daughter asleep in your shoulder?!"

"I, er...Um..." Fred stammered

"Who do you think you are?!" He snapped, Fred ignored what Snape had said

"If you keep going on like this you'll wake Lucy!"

"I don't care! I want an answer and I want it now!"

"Well you aren't getting one!"

"Severus, stop! Lucy makes her own choices in life, but you guide her, give her some freedom" Jessica said

Snape just stopped and stepped back, as Lucy woke up...

"Huh, what was all the arguing about?" Lucy asked lazily, she looked at Fred then she saw Snape and let out a slight scream "oh dear i'm in trouble..."

"No your not Lucy because I will stand up for you" Fred said grabbing Lucy's arm

"Lucy will be coming with me thank you very much!" Snape said grabbing Lucy's other arm

"Woah! People i'm not the last sweet left in Honeydukes!" Lucy said

"Fine you take her but i'm coming with you" Fred stood up and let go of Lucy

"I will see you later Severus" Jessica said heading up to her room

Snape nodded, and then he headed off dragging Lucy by the arm and Fred was following behind, when they arrived in the potions classroom Snape slammed the door and faced them.

"I AM DISGUSTED WITH YOUR BEHAVIOUR!" Snape yelled, "do you realise how worried I was about you Lucy!"

Lucy looked at her feet and tried to block out Snape's yelling

"AND YOU WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO JUST GO OUT WITH MY DAUGHTER!" He faced Fred, and they were only a few centimetres away

"She's not even your real daughter! You only adopted her!"

"YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE OF THIS BUT EVEN THOUGH SHE MAY NOT BE MY REAL DAUGHTER BUT FOR YOUR INFORMATION I DO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HER!"

Lucy was a little shocked what Fred had said about her so she finally spoke up

"Fred if it wasn't for my dad, I wouldn't be at Hogwarts I would probably still be on the streets today fixing bloody broken guitars" Lucy said in a much calmer tone than Snape and Fred had both used "and dad i'm sorry, me and Fred are just good friends ok nothing else"

"Fine, but if Weasley gets near you again he is going to be in deep trouble"

"I will see you later Fred" Lucy turned around and gave Fred a hug, Fred put his middle finger up at Snape and stuck out his tounge like a five year old, Snape just rolled his eyes.

Fred left the classroom and Lucy headed up to her room, after a while Snape headed up to his own room muttering things like 'curse you Fred Weasley.'
