My green eyes reflected their happy color and brightness through the mirror as I watched myself. I raked my small hand through my chocolate brown curls that I tried to style back, but not too obviously so the curls still hung a bit in front of my face.

And then I smiled proudly at my dark green, almost black, suit that complemented my eyes and made them come out much lighter.

For the very first time in years I'd almost say that I looked nice.

The doorbell made me jump up; the sweat clammed itself onto my hands and my heart skipped a full beat. I could feel the anxiety, excitement and adrenaline rushing through my veins.

Okay Semmy, you can do this so don't be nervous. Go have some fun with the man of your dreams.

I slowly inhaled before opening the door and that's when I saw him.

OKAY ABORT MISSION, ABORT, I CAN'T DO THIS. WHY DID I EVEN OPEN THE FREAKING DOOR?! I SHOULD HAVE CRAWLED BACK IN MY BED TO EAT AND WATCH NETFLIX ORIGINAL'S.

"D-damn.. Sem.. You look so.. stunning.." River watched me in awe, making me snap back into reality.

I should really stop thinking and talking so much to myself.

In that moment my eyes found his; two gray orbs shining like diamonds and his soothing smile made the picture complete. He made the effort to style his dark brown hair back.

His black suit fitted him in all the right places and made him look like a man which had the ability to take my breath away in just a blink.

I'd lie if I say that I didn't feel my heart dance everywhere in my chest for him.

And how blessed I was to have such a wonderful best friend. He was more than beautiful; he was sweet, thoughtful and compassionate. There were no imperfections to be seen in River Allen.

"You look good yourself.." I smiled shy and looked away when I felt my cheeks heat up.

"Ready to go, my FIFA loser?" He broke the ice with the horrible nickname as he opened his arm for me.

"My pleasure, stupid sports jock!" I giggled and took his arm to walk with him towards his car.

The gentleman helped me get in, ran to the other side and drove away.

For some reason my nerves kicked in and my breath picked up in anxiousness. Maybe because it was so unlike me that I went to a dance. Usually only the popular ones or people who had a date went.

Nobody would expect a bullied nobody like me.

"Don't worry yourself Semmy.. I'm here with you tonight and you look really beautiful in my eyes, all those people would be crazy if they didn't stop to look at you in amazement for a small second" River said from besides me as if he could read my mind.

He fulfilled my heart with joy.

"That's so sweet.." I whispered when I looked at him, feeling breathless. "Thank you.." I genuinely smiled, having the confidence to kiss his cheek.

Did I really do that?! Wow.

"Hmm I will say stuff like that much more times if I get kisses for it.." He laughed soft, winked at me and drove further.

Did you hear that? That was the sound of me mentally screaming and fangirling over River.

My cheeks turned into a pink color as I looked outside through the window, admiring the shining stars that were along with the fluffy white clouds hanging in the gorgeous blue skies. The moon made its appearance and gave off their strong light.

"We are here Semmy" River announced once he parked the car in the lot.

The both of us got out of the car and walked towards the entrance of the school. A smile played on my lips when I felt River's fingers casually intertwine into mine, giving me butterflies.

We walked like that towards the cafeteria where everything was turned into a fancy room. There was a huge red carpet on the ground that leaded you to the middle where everyone could dance on the loud music. At the side there stood a long table where you could grab food or drinks. And the walls were decorated with colored garlands, balloons and other funny stuff.

I could obviously see people look in our way and whisper about us, probably about what River was doing with someone like me.

But that was fine, because in the end I was the one who was with the boy at this dance even though it wasn't in a romantic way.

"Come on let's dance!" I happily dragged River towards the dance floor.

He laughed at that and started to dance like crazy on the happy song. I wasn't exactly good at dancing, but so was River and that's what made this even more fun. We danced like that on a couple more songs until we decided to get some punch.

"One for my little boy.." He said as he gave me my punch. "and one for me" He smiled and took a sip, looking pretty hot.

This boy will let me faint some day, I swear.

"Rivvieeeeee!" I suddenly heard a high pitched voice.

Oh no..

"Lucy.." I clearly heard River force her name out of his mouth as she basically jumped in his arms.

"You are so hot tonight! What are you doing with this creep? Let's dance together! You belong to me" She smirked at me as she said that to River.

That sneaky potato..

"Are you stupid or what?!" River said annoyed. "There is a reason that I broke up with you, now leave us alone and search someone else that you can use as your boy toy. And that creep is my best friend" He glared at her and grabbed my arm as he pulled me away.

"Are you okay?" I asked him.

I've never seen River getting so annoyed with someone. Mostly he was a calm and collected person so it made me wonder why he snapped like that out of nowhere.

Not that I would blame him, have you seen Lucy?!

"I'm okay Sem.. Sorry, she just frustrated me. How she had the nerve to claim me and call you out like that!" He huffed and tried to calm down.

"It's okay, I don't mind her. I'm used to it" I hugged him.

"But you shouldn't be used to hearing stuff like that.. You don't deserve that" He hugged me.

"Thank you.. I appreciate it" I smiled as I pulled back.

"So.. Tell me about how you styled your hair like that, because you normally don't do that" He smiled warm and softly played with my curl.

After we talked about literally anything and drank our drinks, we went back towards the dance floor.

But then I heard the good side playing.

My eyes widened in shyness when the music turned into a slow song.

"Would you like to take this dance with me?" River smiled and his gray eyes found their way with my green ones.

"Yes.." I blushed.

He took my hand, taking me to the floor and placing his hands on my hips. I wrapped my arms around his neck, closing the distance between us.

"All you have to do, is to follow me okay?" He smiled in such a comforting way as he slow danced with me.

I tried to follow him and I noticed that it wasn't hard at all. This felt natural, as if we've danced before.

"You know Semmy.." River spoke up in a serious way. "You may not believe me, but I do think that you are amazing. You are way more pretty than you think you are and besides your adorable looks, you are funny and nice to everyone no matter what they've done to you. And I admire you for that Sem. Because I knew that if I were in your shoes, I wouldn't have lasted it this long. We don't deserve you Semmy" He breathed out as if he was nervous for what's next.

Awe..

My heart skipped a beat when his face came closer to mine, sucking the air away from my lungs.

He was so damn beautiful and nice, I didn't deserve someone like him.

His minty breath tickled my skin, giving me different kinds of tingles and goosebumps just from the good feeling.

"Sem?" He spoke up again, making me look up in his light gray eyes.

"Yes River?"

My eyes widened when he suddenly pushed his red lips on mine right after that.
