"SIRIUS I SWEAR TO MY FATHER IF YOU USE MY SHAMPOO ONE MORE TIME I WILL CUT OFF YOUR PRECIOUS HAIR IN YOUR SLEEP!"
"They're bickering again," Pandora said, blowing on her tea, cooling it down.
"I SWEAR TO GOD MCFELLON YOU TRY TO PRANK ME IN MY SLEEP ONE MORE TIME AND I WILL HEX YOU!"
"Mhmm," Remus replied, blowing on his own tea.
"I SWEAR TO HOLY FUCKING GOD SEVERUS IF YOU TALK TO ME ABOUT BREAKING INTO THE OTHER DAMN ROOMS ONE MORE FUCKING TIME I WILL FORCE YOU TO USE THAT LOVELY SMELLING SHAMPOO!"
"How long have we gone without them bickering? Before today of course."
"REGULUS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT!"
Remus checked his watch, a cute little thing it was, Pandora had gotten him it for Christmas last year, along with a multitude of other things, "I believe it was five whole minutes of silence, ten minutes of peace."
"OH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY JUST TALK TO ME ROSIER! PLEASE!"
"Oh sweet sweet silence," Pandora sighed.
"STOP CALLING ME 'HALF-BLOOD'! I HAVE A NAME YOU KNOW!"
It had been six days since the day that they all had been sorted, and the other had been bickering and causing ruckus non-stop since they got their new dorms. It was honestly like Hell (not Helheim, Hel and Sirius have both described it to Pandora and Remus, that place was peaceful compared to the common room) everyone had been going down each other's throats and arguing. Seemingly the only people who were quiet were Declan, Maelyn, Remus, and Pandora, and that was only when Declan wasn't arguing with James or when Maelyn wasn't shouting out insults to the others from the chandelier.
"ALOOF-LACEY ALOOF-LACEY DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO SMIIIIIIIIIILE!"
"How do we get them to shut up?" Remus asked, sipping his tea, then scrunching at the taste.
"I've no idea, needs more sugar doesn't it?" Pandora asked Remus, knowing from the look in his face his tea did have enough sweetness. Remus smiled and let Pandora out another lump of sugar in.
"Much better, thanks Dora," Remus said after he took a sip, then he looked over his teacup and to the jumper Pandora was wearing, "Is that my jumper?"
Pandora grinned, leaning on Remus slightly, just enough to be leaning, but not enough that he'd spill his tea, "Why yes it is, do you like it? It's much easier to steal your jumpers now that we share a room"
Remus smiled and pressed a kiss to Pandora's forehead, "You look adorable."
"SEE SIRIUS! THAT'S HOW A NORMAL COUPLE IS SUPPOSED TO ACT!"
"IN CASE YOU HAVENT NOTICED HEL, WE MOST DEFINITELY ARE NOT NORMAL!"
Pandora groaned into Remus' shoulder, it was honestly getting quite annoying. Just one day of pure peace, that was all she asked for, everyone was just going down each other's throats, bickering to their heart's content. If Dumbledore and the Ministry's goal was to drive the happy couples mad, then woo-hoo they got to get a gold star because they reached their goal. Heck, they've exceeded their goal.
Pandora sighed, setting her teacup down, "Okay, let's play a game shall we?" She asked Remus.
Remus smiled and nodded, signalling for Pandora to go on. Pandora grinned, thinking up of something to pass the time.
"The game's called 'Name the couple'," Pandora said, "Here's an example, we're called Couple Goals because that's what everyone calls us."
Remus grinned, "Oh this will be fantastic," he said, then turned around in his seat, leaning his chin on the back of the sofa.
Pandora followed his lead, and she assumed they looked like two groundhogs just poking their head out of the ground, checking for spring. Except these two lovely groundhogs were just trying their best to stay sane.
"Hel and Sirius, I'm going to call them the Dark Duo," Remus said grinning.
Pandora laughed slightly at that, it made sense though. Hel at the moment herself was wearing all black clothes, Sirius as well. While Sirius was a bright being that radiated sunshine, his style was very emo and feminine, Hel was obvious, death goddess and all. Pandora honestly wished they got along better, they were adorable together if they'd stop bickering for a moment.
"Hmm, Snivellus and Harley, I'm going to call them ..... the Emo Powers!"
Pandora said, she didn't mean to be rude, oh no! (Okay, to Snivellus Hell yes she meant it, Harley, not so much) She was just having fun, and she'd never say it to them directly, and the two were too busy bickering to even notice Pandora just called them the Emo Powers. Remus laughed at Pandora's name then looked for some other couple to name.
"Miranda and Regulus, the Royal Couple," Remus said, pointing over to where Miranda was dragging Regulus up to their room.
Pandora looked at Remus confused for a movement before she got it, "Ooooh, because they act like the royalty of the school, both beautiful and rich, got it. I think I'm used to you all talking about actual royalty," Pandora said, discreetly talking about Hel.
"Well, Thalia and Rabastan, Book Lovers is what I'm calling them," Pandora said, pointing out to where Rabastan and Thalia were bickering by the Bookshelf Walls.
"Book Lovers?"
"Yeah, kind of like a play of words, they're lovers, and they both love books."
"How do you know that?"
"Well, Lily's always talking about how Thalia is showing her about new books that she thinks Lily should read, and I heard from Sirius about how Hel says Rabastan is secretly an immense book-lover."
Remus nodded in surprise, then looked over to Olivia and Rosier
"Catastrophic Straights," he decided as he watched both of them desperately try to open up to each other without being fools or trying to sound desperate, he also saw a lot of eye-rolling.
Pandora shrugged, honestly, it had taken her a minute to even figure out who Rosier was, along with Remus, but when they figured out they just shrugged it off. The two never had the best relationship with Olivia, well, Pandora used to be friends with Olivia, but they had fallen out, and if you didn't really know someone, it wasn't like you could name their relationship.
"Okay, then Maelyn, I'm going to call her Single Pringle since she loves food so much, and she's happily single," Pandora said, pointing above them where Maelyn was hanging off the chandelier, probably eavesdropping on their conversation, or thinking about food. Pandora assumed it was a mixture of both.
"That's cute," Remus said smiling, then pointed to Peter, who was in the middle of Lily and Elorie's argument, "Forever Bachelor," he said good-naturedly.
"God Remus, you have gone mad," Pandora said laughing, then looked over to where her twin was acting like a doofus, trying to get Declan to open up, but failing miserably, she looked to Remus and they both grinned.
"Disaster Gays," They both said at the same time, breaking out into giggles.
The Remus looked over to where Elorie and Lily were arguing, "Loopy Lesbians," he said, and Pandora giggled at how serious he sounded.
"I think that's all of them," Pandora said sighing, leaning her head lightly on Remus' shoulder, she chuckled lightly when Remus pressed a kiss to her temple and leaned on her, and the happy couple watched as chaos raged around them, and above them seeing as Miranda and Regulus were probably arguing in their room and Maelyn was swinging on her chandelier. (Everyone had silently agreed that it was hers and hers forever, no one would dare touch it.)
Remus brought his head up and tilted his head down a little to see Pandora, who's eyes were a tiny bit glazed over, but not enough to be considered really glazed, "You're bored aren't you?" He asked.
"Very," Pandora sighed, she'd already organized her and Remus' room twice and she'd gotten James and Declan's permission to organize their room, and she's been down to the kitchens to talk to the house-elves and bake with Remus, and she's played around with how the common room was set up, and it was only a couple minutes after lunch. She was insanely bored and she'd probably be doing schoolwork at the moment if it were a normal day, heck, she'd be in class.
Remus sighed heavily as he watched a pillow being thrown across the room, his eyes following it to its target, "We were supposed to be using this time to get to know each other, right?"
"Yep," Pandora said, watching as Declan muttered profanities while covering his ears, a grinning James asking him ten questions a second from across the room, even worse he used a spell to magnify his voice.
Remus thought for a moment, and Pandora could practically see the ideas float through his mind, "How about truth or dare?" He suggested.
Pandora looked confused for a moment, below her mouth formed an o, "Ooooh! That game! Sure! Icebreaker sounds fun," then Pandora turned to the crackhead couples, "How do we get them to listen though?"
Remus smiled, then looked up, Pandora followed his lead and she saw he was looking at Maelyn, who was happily swinging on her chandelier, seemingly reading a book about dragons, one of the only books Pandora's seen her read so far.
"Maelyn? How much fun would it be to make everyone freeze? You know, Silencio, Petrificus Totalus, Stupefy, those kinds of things," Remus asked politely.
Pandora saw as Maelyn lowered her book, or did she make it go higher? Either way, she pulled it to her chest, "Sounds like great fun," she said, letting the book fall out of her hands and land on a chair (this has been one of Maelyn's favourite moves that Pandora has seen, she just lets random things fall from her hands and drop to the floor, sometimes on top of another person. By the time that person's stopped freaking out or after they've recovered from their heart attack, Maelyn's already found a new perch to hang off).
Maelyn grinned and pulled out her wand, Pandora and Remus doing the same.
"Three, two, one," Remus said as they all said different spells to either render their screaming friends silent or immobile.
Pandora smiled at their handiwork as Elorie soundlessly opened and closed her mouth like a goldfish before pouting and crossing her arms, "Sorry, but we had to get your guys' attention, but let's play a game?" Pandora said, but it sounded more like asking for permission.
Everyone stayed silent... well ... it wasn't like they could do anything, they were all rendered voiceless.
"Well," Remus said awkwardly, awkwardly smiling as a voiceless Hel glared at him with a glare colder than the Great Lake during winter, "We were kind of bored, and kind of going mad from all of your bickering, so how about we play a game?"
๐ณ๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Hel glared at Remus with an icy cold stare that rivalled the temperature of Jotunheim, if it were anyone else, she'd probably have hexed them into the next realm, but it was Remus, and that boy was about as innocent as a newborn. Well ... mostly.
Hel shadow-travelled behind Remus and tapped his shoulder, she was delighted when he nearly jumped three feet in the air and turned around, interrupted from what he was saying. Hel pointed to her lips with an expression that said, "Either give me my voice back right now, or I will find you a perfect spot in my realm," and Remus awkwardly chuckled before releasing Hel from his spell. Well, Hel believed it was his spell anyway, she was a little too busy yelling at Sirius for putting black dye in her favourite moisturizer to hear who cast the spell.
"Thank you," Hel said with a hint of sarcasm, "So what game were you talking about?" she asked, going over to Lily to revive her from her body-lock spell, purposely sending a sarcastic smile over to a stupefy-ed Sirius as she did so.
Remus was about to say something before he was interrupted by someone, well, two people coming down the stairs.
"Why did it get quiet all of a sudden?" Miranda asked, twirling her hair around her finger.
"Becuase we're about to play a game," Remus said, talking fast so he could get all the words in before someone interrupted him again, "It's called Truth or Dare and I know all of you have heard of it because I've seen all the dumb things you've done on dares. Really sorry for you all, by the way, no offence or anything to anyone who took offence to that, but yeah."
Everyone still stayed silent, seeing as most everyone was still rendered voiceless or immobile.
"And we'll lift the spells," Pandora finished.
Hel shrugged, she was completely fine with it, there was only so much bickering that could go around, she quickly revived everyone with the help of Lily, Remus, and Pandora (Maelyn hadn't bothered to help) and they all star around the fire, in a sort-of circle.
Remus awkwardly looked up at Maelyn, who was crossing her arms and staring at everyone below, "Could you?" he asked, awkwardly once more (honestly, the boy couldn't get a break from being awkward, Hel felt a little bad, then remembered her brother Fenris' awkward stage that apparently lasted fifty years, and remembered how he looked now, so she was sure Remus would grow out of it).
Maelyn either didn't get the hint or just liked to hang on her perch and Remus sighed, "So, there are rules to this game," he said, turning to Pandora.
Pandora smiled and went on, "Now, I know most of you here love to break the rules," she cast an obvious glance to her twin, who was trying to goad Declan into telling him something, "But these we're going to have to follow. Rule one, no nudity whatsoever, so keep your clothes on please. Rule two, you can't refuse a truth or a dare. Rule three, no leaving the castle, which means no going to the Forbidden Forest, though I'm sure we can just call it the Forest by now, and no going to the Great Lake. I'm sure we'll make up more rules along the way depending on how bad the truths or dares are, agreed?"
Everyone agreed with Pandora, and Hel assumed it was partially because it was like not agreeing with your mother, it would never end well no matter what you do, and because over the past week everyone had had a taste of Pandora's baking skills in some shape, way or form, and no one wanted to be deprived of those.
"Alright, Dora, choose your first victim- I mean person," Remus said, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend.
Sirius made a movement to do the same with Hel but she shook her head when he moved closer.
"I choose Sirius!" Pandora said grinning, "Truth or dare Siri?"
Sirius pretended to think for a moment, but Hel rolled her eyes, he was a completely Gryffindor, it was plainly obvious what the reckless boy was going to choose.
"I choose dare!" Sirius said proudly, raising a finger to the side of his face like he made some epic proclamation back in 1705.
Pandora grinned then thought for a moment, thinking of what she should do to Sirius, she pretended to size him up, looking at him up or down before her lips spread into a mischievous grin that Hel didn't think the sweet girl was capable of.
"I dare you to let the person to your right cut your hair," Pandora said smiling.
Hel looked at Sirius and used her hands to find out which was his right or left (yes she still does it, and she's positive everyone else in the room does as well), and she was delighted to find that she was on his right. She was even more delighted at the look of horror on his face.
"What?!" he sputtered out, gathering all of his hair in his hands, tugging slightly, "Dora! You can't!"
Pandora smiled sweetly, "Oh but I can," she said, then turned to Hel, "I'm pretty sure you have hair scissors," she said, then turned back to Sirius and smiled sympathetically as Hel rushed to her room. As Hel sped up the stairs, she could faintly hear what Pandora said to hopefully clam Sirius down a bit, "There's a double chocolate cookie in it for you if you don't complain."
Hel returned smiling mischievously and snapping a pair of scissors open and closed threateningly, she had a few elastic bands on her wrists because she would rather not mess up Sirius' hair, and she sat down on the right side of Sirius.
"Stop squirming, will you? And sit on the floor in front of me, it'll make this easier," she said as Sirius moved to sit down in front of her, "Great, now while I do this it's your turn."
Hel got to work putting Sirius' hair in elastics as Sirius looked to choose his vict- volunteer.
๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Declan watched as Sirius rubbed his hands together in glee as he studied everyone closely, but he ended up just grinning and choosing the obvious.
"James, love, my best mate, forever friend, truth or dare?"
James looked up from questioning (though it felt more like interrogating) Delcan to answer his best mate while Declan sighed in relief and walked (more like scuttled) over to a different corner.
"Dare!" James said brightly, and Declan rolled his eyes at how obvious Jame' was, it was simple, a reckless Gryffindor would choose to dare over truth any day, daresay it common knowledge. Plus James was a special breed of reckless-stupid, sure he was probably really smart, or at least half as smart as Declan (which would mean he's at least half as smart as a mad genius) but he was lacking in the common-sense department.
Sirius smirked, "I dare you to let your Soulmate do your makeup..."
James sent a horrified look over to Declan, who was smiling like the mad genius he was, this was going to be perfect payback for waking him up at six in the bloody morning to ask if he preferred his toast cooked for thirty seconds or forty just to piss him off. What's the difference? There is a difference, but does it bloody matter? It's toast! If it's not burnt to a crisp, stick some topping on and you've got yourself breakfast!
"...blindfolded..."
Declan practically had to physically stop himself from cackling as he kept a cool smile on his face while he looked at James' horrified expression, which was really the funniest thing since Ravenclaw couldn't answer the knocker and ended up stabbing the door with a knife.
...and you've got to keep it on for the rest of the game."
Delcan nearly broke his spleen as he watched James practically faun in horror, Declan also saw Pandora secretly smile, Lily and Elorie burst out laughing, and Remus trying so very hard not to laugh but failing miserably.
"So," Declan said, trying his very hardest not to burst his spleen from not laughing, only allowing himself a chuckle, "Does anyone have makeup and a blindfold?"
Miranda and Sirius provided Declan with a ton of makeup and Sirius tied a black silk scarf around his eyes that he couldn't see. Declan assumed that Sirius actually stole it from Hel because he saw her glare at Sirius while snapping her scissors open and closed threateningly.
"Alright," Declan muttered, mostly himself, feeling around the soft carpet for the makeup bag, he could only see pitch black, "Andie taught me to do the foundation and stuff first, but I'm going to skip that, let's go straight to eyeshadow," he mumbled to himself, feeling around the brush bag and finding a decent-sized brush, or so he hoped.
Declan didn't hear any sharp gasps or, "no honey, wrong one," so he assumed it was the right one, he then dug around in the bag for an eyeshadow palette, and he hoped he found one. Declan was a little familiar with makeup since his mother wore it all the time (literally, without fail, every day, caked on to make her look "flawless" and it had to be the most expensive ones too, hundred-thousand-galleon red lipstick, two-hundred-thousand- galleon eyeshadow, it had to be the most expensive or she wouldn't buy it) plus his sister loved makeup at even age eight, and the most precious thing it Declan was his sister, so he always helped her with whatever she needed.
Declan felt in front of him and found what he hoped was James' chest, but he felt abs and he hoped he wasn't blushing by how chiselled James felt under his fingers. He trailed his fingers up slightly to James' neck, and it would've been very intimate if Declan didn't have the intention of screwing up James' face as bad as possible.
Delcan used his nail to flip open the compact, using his brush to dab in it, he gently set the compact down and felt for James' cheek, going up his neck and feeling for his eyelids, and he very well hoped he poked his eye as well as he dabbed the makeup on there as horribly as possible.
Then he went through the process again with a different colour, and then the same with the blush (if the blush was pink, he really hoped his face wasn't the same colour as the pigment, feeling up James' abs, pecs, and face was making the room feel rather hot...), he found what he hoped was a highlighter, it certainly felt glittery, and put that on too, some eyeliner he was sure he fucked up bad, then he put some mascara on for good measure. (He avoided the eyelash curler and false eyelashes for the sole purpose of not wanting to embarrass himself further.)
"Alright, last thing, lipstick," Delcan said, half to himself, half to everyone else so that they actually knew what the hell he was trying to do. Declรกn felt around in the bed before feeling the lipstick bottle, he popped it open and tested it on his own hand to make sure it was the right product, he did that with the eyeliner and mascara as well. Delcan was happy to find that it felt like lipstick and proceeds to re-do the procedure of feeling up James body (not on purpose whatsoever) until he got to his collarbone, then he traced up his jawline (fuck it feels chiselled, god damn it, bad thoughts) and felt for his lips.
Declan mentally cussed, James' lips were alarmingly soft, sure a little in the thin side, but so fucking soft. They were so soft you could kiss them, wait, no you couldn't, Hell no, uh uh. Delcan mentally chided himself for thinking such a thing then traced James' lips one too many times. He pressed the lipstick tube right next to his finger as he followed his own finger. If there's something that would go right, it was the lipstick on those totally not-kissable lips.
"Done!" Delcan said, closing the bottle and pulling off his blindfold, letting it sit in his curly locks, he nearly cackled at his colour scheme and how ridiculous James looked.
Delcan has chosen literally all Ravenclaw colours, blue and bronze eyeshadow, bronze blush, blue highlighter, dark blue almost black eyeliner (that one Declan thought was probably Andie's, he's seen her wear it a ton at those stuffy pure-blood balls), blue, almost-black mascara, and dark blue, totally not-kissable lipstick.
"James!" Elorie said, crying laughing as she brushed a tear away from her eyes, "I think this is the best you've ever looked!" she howled, falling back on the couch by Remus and cackling.
"Really?" James asked dryly as everyone, including the Slytherins, laughed at how ridiculous James looked.
"Oh brother mine, you look ravishing," Pandora said, having giggling fits.
"Yeah yeah thanks Pan-Pan," James muttered, crossing his arms like a child, Pandora tried to glare at him, but couldn't through her giggles.
Declan assumed "Pan-Pan" was an old, childhood, and very ridiculous nickname for Pandora, but just laughed at how stupid James looked.
James, probably just a little bit desperate to have the embarrassment taken off of him, pointed to Sirius, "Look! Sirius finished his haircut!"
Everyone turned to look at Sirius, who was sporting a look with his hair just brushing his shoulder, Hel even managed to give him some layering. Sure it looked extremely bad and was obviously done by someone who wasn't experienced with hair whatsoever, but once it grew it out it would look okay.
"Who me?" Sirius asked as if James hadn't literally said his name and everyone wasn't staring at him, he did a hair flip and shook his head side to side, "I'm a beautiful bitch thank you very much," he said, dramatically, draping his entire body over Hel's legs and pressing the back of his hand to his forehead.
Delcan saw Hel's hands clench and unclench, a sure sign that she wanted to strangle Sirius, but he could also see a hint of a smile.
"Sirius, get up," Hel said, patting Sirius' chest lightly.
"What do we say Hel?" Sirius asked obviously asking for a "please".
"Now," Hel said threateningly, and Sirius spring right back up like a Jack in the Box doll.
Declan just chuckled lightly and turned to James, who was eyeing the room, ready to choose his next victim. Delcan saw out of the corner of his eye Hel whispered something into Sirius' ear and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek when she thought no one was looking.
๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Harley would admit to cackling like a damn mad scientist when they saw James with a fucking full face of badly applied makeup on, but hey, when you loathe someone's guts, seeing the embarrassed just fills your shitty, cold, dead heart with glee.
Harley watched, laughing on the plush chair, as James pouted while he chose a victim, they highly doubted he would choose them, so they just tuned him out slightly, focusing on the fact that one side of eyeliner was way more fucked than the other.
"I choose Snivellus!" James said, pouting to where Sirius sat at the foot of Harley's chair. They really didn't know why Sev fucking did that, it was like he was some damn dog or working, which he wasn't, he was his own entitled human fucking being making googly eyes at shitting Evans who was sitting by Thalia and Pandora. "Truth or dare Snivi?" James asked.
"Dare," Severus said, probably just saying the first that came to mind.
"Ooooooh, three dares in a row sweet!" James said grinning, rubbing his hands together in front of his face like he was about to make some damn potion. Harley saw Olivia Roll her eyes at this and their respect for her went up, "Hmmmmm, I dare you to take a shower with that lovely smelling shampoo Harley was talking about earlier, and we'll know if you used it or not," James said delightfully.
Sev looked horrified and Harley sighed, "Fuck it Sev, it isn't the end of this damned world just yet, "It's in the bottom left-hand corner of the bath, it's black and smells like green apples, have fun, don't shit yourself at the fact you're using shampoo," they said, waving Severus off. Sev pouted and trudged up the stairs slowly, it reminded Harley a lot like a dog that's been punished.
James then turned to Harley, "You might want to check if he's actually doing it," he said.
It took Harley a moment to figure out what James meant, but when it sunk in they were a little disgusted, "Okay, first of all, that's fucking gross," they said, "and he's like a fucking brother to me, wanna tell me if you want to see your shitting sister naked while taking a shower?"
James shrugged, "It's nothing I haven't seen," he said, then got a massive embroidered pillow pelted at him, much to Harley's delight.
"We were babies!" Pandora shouted, and Harley's respect for her went up just a bit with the pelting with the pillow, they also noted that no one had made a movement to stop her.
Harley settled their case by sinking deeper into the chair, enjoying the silence while it lasted, no matter how awkward it was. Sure, she and Severus were part of the whole bickering couple thing, but they weren't even a couple. It really just felt like siblings sharing a room, except everyone expected those siblings to get together and shag. It wasn't like they thought Severus was horrible looking, he just looked a lot like a puppy you find in the back of a dumpster with really oily hair, a big nose, and hiding claws meant to murder so in short something that needed to be protected, but that was Harley's opinion if their brother-figure.
Severus came down, he didn't even change out of his old outfit, or, it didn't look like it, but his hair was still pretty damp, so you couldn't tell if it was going to be oily or not.
"Hey Harley, check if his hair smells like green apples will you?" James asked.
Harley just stared at James with an expression that meant, 'Why don't you just fucking do it yourself, Potter?'
"I'm being serious," James said.
"It's really fucking hard to take you seriously with that shitty makeup job," Harley said, just as Sirius practically leapt to the centre of the vague circle to screech, "THAT'S A HORRIBLE IMPERSONATION OF ME!"
Harley just glared at Sirius for shouting over them, while Olivia rolled her eyes and Hel marched up to the centre to drag Sirius back to his spot. Harley sighed and sniffed the air around Severus and found that it, indeed, smelled like green apples.
"He actually took a damn shower with fucking shampoo," Harley said, sounding a bit impressed, then they sat back in their chair, "Your turn Sev."
๐ฐ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
When the game started, Elorie had taken a spot by Remus, two people away from Evans. She would admit to practically cackling when James got his makeup done, and to laughing when James told Snivellus to take a shower but was a little disappointed when Snivellus came back with wet hair. Elorie just half-laid half-sat on the couch, watching for the next person to be picked on.
"McFellon, truth or dare," Snivellus asked, turning to Elorie.
Elorie pretended to look extremely surprised though she was a little surprised, why the bloody hell would Snivellus choose her? "Who me?" She asked sarcastically.
"Yes you," Snivellus grumbled.
"Dare," Elorie said grinning brightly, hoping to get something really good, and preferably extremely dangerous because, well, the more dangerous the more fun, right?
"I dare you to tell me how you and the Marauders met," Snivellus said.
Elorie scrunched up her nose in disappointment. Seriously? That was the truth! Give her something more fun! More YOLO! Make her do a backflip off her broom and land perfectly on the ground. Make her do a backhand spring into the Transfiguration classroom and land on one of the desks. Make her go jump out of her balcony and land with her feet on her broom. (Okay, she's actually done all of these, and Evans nearly killed her when she did the last one, but hey! At least they were more exciting than telling everyone how she met her best mates.)
Elorie sighed in disappointment and started re-telling the story:
Elorie was going home for the winter holiday, she had her things already on the train and was just holding her pet lizard's cage in her hand as she walked down the hallways of the train. Her Hogwarts uniform had three buttons unbuttoned and she had her skirt on since they weren't technically allowed to change out of their robes until halfway to King's Cross, so Elorie just settled on making her outfit look how she wanted to look.
Elorie was going to go sit down with her friends, Mary and Alice, in their compartment, when she bumped into someone.
"Well ouch," she muttered, "Oi! My poor lizard, old chap you alright?" she asked, making sure Jayden, her lizard, was okay, "Who the hell did I bump into?" she said, peering up at the person, who was much taller than her.
Said person had beautiful long black locks of hair, dark eyes, a pale, yet beautiful face, and was wearing Slytherin robes, the girl's face had what seemed like a permanent sneer on it as she looked down at Elorie. Elorie could tell that this was one of those kinds of people, the ones that thought they were better than everyone else because of blood status and because they had the dough. Elorie herself was a muggle-born, but that didn't stop her from having a spark and speaking her thoughts.
The girl's sneer widened and Elorie hated the fact that she was still beautiful even though her face was pulled into such an ugly expression, the girl looked to Elorie's robes, which had the Gryffindor crest on them, "Well well well," the girl said, and her voice was musical but sharp, Elorie thought that voice was probably used to torment people, "A puny little Gryffindor first year are we now?" the girl sing-songed as if Elorie was five.
Elorie gripped her want tightly as she held on tighter to Jayden's cage, "I'm not puny," she said, "I've got a lot of spark for someone my age thank you very much, but who do you think you are? Terrorising first years?"
The girl smiled, which was a much better look on her, "Well, I'm Bellatrix Black, you may have heard of my family, one the sacred twenty-eight," Bellatrix said, pride leaking from her voice, then Elorie noticed two girls behind her that looked eerily similar to Bellatrix, "And these are my sisters, Narcissa Black, and Andromeda Black."
"Blacks," Elorie said, "If heard about you guys, and none of it's good."
Bellatrix cackled, "Well, you're obviously a halfie or mudblood," Bellatrix spat out the word mudblood like a horrible slur.
"You take that back!" Elorie said, her grip tightening even further on her wand as a series of spells flit through her brain.
"No, I don't think I will," Bellatrix said as the train started to move, making Elorie a bit wobbly on her feet. Her platform boots probably weren't the best idea if she wanted to fight, but oh well, it is what it is. Bellatrix eyed the wand in Elorie's grasp, "Oh, you want to duel, don't you? Well be my guest," Bellatrix whipped out her wand, which was unusually pointy, and strangely curvy. Elorie saw that her sisters sighed as if this happened every day and walked back to their compartment.
"'Course I want to duel! You aren't going to call me a mudblood and get away with it!" Elorie said, fire building up in her words.
Bellatrix sneered, "Filthy little mudblood," she cussed as she fired her first spell at Eloire.
Since Elorie was still on her first year, she didn't recognize the spell, and she sure as hell didn't know how to deflect it, so she just decided to dodge it, but she wasn't going to run, oh no she wasn't going to run. She was a Gryffindor for a reason, and she was going to stay and fight no matter what, call her stupid but she prefered the word headstrong.
Bellatrix kept on firing spells at Elorie, who just tried her best to deflect and dodge them. Considering Elorie didn't know that many spells yet, she decided to try and physically fight Bellatrix. You know punches and kicks, which worked decently well... if she could get close enough to land a punch on that arrogant witch's nose.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen and Elorie was forced against the door of a compartment, causing it to make a loud thump and for Elorie to allow herself to mumble an "oof," before staring straight at Bellatrix and yelling, "Is that the best you've got?"
Bellatrix's expression turned into one of pure hate as she raised her wand and aimed a spell at Elorie, but before she could the compartment door slid open and she was pulled inside by what felt like four hands. Just then, another voice with a thick Norwegian accent yelled out, "Bella! Stop!"
"Let me go whoever you are!" Elorie said struggling, poor Jayden was waddling around in her cage, afraid, so one of the four people in the cart, the fat one, picked her up and set her down on the floor beside him.
"No, we're not," one of the people holding her back said, "That's my cousin Bellatrix, she'll send you to St Mungo's faster than you can say Expelliarmus."
"Yeah I know good and well who she is, now let me go!" Elorie said as she fought and punched, determined to not back out of her fight. Elorie saw Bellatrix smirk at her predicament, and she just fought all the harder, she was sure she landed a few good punches to someone's nose.
"Bella!" the Norweigan person yelled out again, "Bella stop!" Elorie only saw the right side of the person's face as they came up. The person was a girl with long dark hair and green eyes with a hint of hazel in them, her skin was extremely pale and Elorie briefly wondered if she was sick. "Bella stop! That girl is in my year! A first-year! She will obviously lose, do not waste your time on her!"
Bellatrix looked down at the girl and Elorie saw that her gaze softened a bit, "Oh for goodness sake just go back Hel, the mudblood is asking for it."
Hel grit her teeth and Eloire thought she saw the thoughts tinkering in her head, Elorie had stopped briefly when she was watching the exchange, but when she realized the hands were still on her she fought back again, "Let me go! The witch is asking for it! No one calls me a mudblood and gets away with it!"
"Oh for god's sake just calm down," one of the boys said, "Just sit down will you?"
"Yeah, of course, I'll sit down," Elorie said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"You will?" the boy asked hopefully.
"Nope!" Elorie said as she tried twisting her arms out of the boys' grasp, watching as Hell and Bellatrix talked.
"But Bella! She has no idea how to defend herself! She's a Gryffindor for gods' sakes! Please stop! Come back to the compartment!" Hel said.
"Hel, no, I'm not going to do it."
"You know that being stubborn and wanting to fight makes you no better than a Gryffindor? Especially if it's a duel!"
Bellatrix seemed to consider this, Elorie practically saw the thoughts going in her head, on one hand, was this filthy little mudblood that needed to be taught a lesson, and on the other, if she did do that, she'd be no better than a Gryffindor.
"Manipulative are we Hel? I guess I won't be teaching the mudblood a lesson" Bellatrix finally said, and Elorie nearly went limp from shock, "But you will."
Now it was Hel's turned to be shocked, but she didn't show it much, her eyes only went a bit wide then back to normal, "Alright fine, I'll see you in our compartment Bellatrix, thank you for not pulverising the Gryffindor."
"Nuh-uh Hel, that's not how you talk."
Hel sighed, "I will take care of this Bellatrix, I'll see you in our compartment, goodbye."
"Better, you're learning Hel," Bellatrix said, caressing Hel's cheek before walking off.
The second Bellatrix was out of sight. He inhaled deeply and let it out slowly, her posture softened and she looked to Elorie, "You're quite lucky I was able to get her away."
Elorie would've scoffed, but she was a little preoccupied with the fact that the left side of Hel's face was a corpse and so was her left arm. Elorie didn't even feel the arms holding her back from beating Bellatrix into a pulp pull away, she just stood there, her red lips parted slightly as she stared at Hel.
He rolled her eyes discreetly and looked at the boys, "Lupin? Do you have chocolate?"
"Chocolate?" Elorie asked, snapping out of her trance, turning around to face the boys.
The boy with curly hair reached into his pockets and pulled out a bar of chocolate, "Why, it seems that I do, come sit down-" Lupin looked to Elorie, his eyes and nervous smile asking for a name to call Elorie.
"I'm Elorie," Elorie said, plopping down beside Lupin, "And you're Lupin?" she asked as she accepted the chocolate offering. Elorie immediately took a liking to Lupin because anyone willing to share sweets with her was automatically considered a friend.
"Well, my first name is Remus, my last name's Lupin, Hel just calls everyone by their last name," Remus said, putting his chocolate away. Elorie noticed he had a thick Welsh accent, which made him sound singsongy.
Hel nodded along and leaned against the door of the compartment, "Yes, and I'm Hel Lokidottir, Princess of Asgard, Rightful Queen of Helheim, Goddess of Death, Ruler of the dead, and you should thank me, I saved you from Bella's wrath."
Elorie saw that all the boys seemed to mutter what Hel introduced herself as under their breaths, apparently, she threw around those words a lot. Elorie shoved the rest of her chocolate in her mouth and chewed, "I could've handled it you know," she said, refraining from wiping her mouth or else her red lipstick would wipe away, "And you said you were a princess? And a queen? And a goddess?"
Hel rolled her eyes and sighed deeply, "All of you Gryffindors, never backing down from a fight," she said shaking her head, sitting down in the compartment by one of the boys. The boy she sat down next to had shaggy black hair that he was obviously trying to grow out. "And yes, I'm a princess and a queen and a goddess, you may have heard of me from your myths."
"Mhmm," Elorie said, she really didn't buy it, but then she got a good look at Hel's dead side and reconsidered, "So you're the goddess of death? Prove it!"
The second Elorie said that the two boys on Hel's side immediately started shaking their heads violently and waving their hands in front of their faces frantically, they were about to shout something but Hel stopped them by holding up her hand. Miraculously, the two boys shut up quick enough, and Elorie wondered if Hel had cast some sort of spell, "Nuh-uh Potter, Sirius, she wants proof and she's brave enough to ask for it, so might as well," Hel pulled out a knife from the inside of her robes and eyed it with hunger.
Elorie was pretty confused as to why this girl pulled a knife out of all things, and she also wondered how she even got that on the train, that'd be handy if she ever got ain't another fight with Bellatrix, and of course when she got back to Hogwarts she was going to seek out Bellatrix and try to duel her because you only live once right? At least fill it with excitement! Elorie saw as hel held out the knife to her, "Here, use this, stab me."
Elorie looked horrified, "Stab you?" she asked in disbelief.
"Obviously, the arm would be fine, less blood," Hel said, pulling up the sleeve of her robe and holding out her flesh arm, which was practically pure white compared to Elorie's brown skin. Elorie looked to the knife, then to Hel's arm, then back to Hel, horror in her eyes, this was not the right thing to do.
"No, I won't this isn't good and it's a Slytherin thing to do," Elorie finally said, because, YOLO, but you have to fill it with good things, not stabbing girls you just met.
Hel rolled her eyes, "And here I thought you Gryffindors were brave," she muttered.
Elorie balled her fists, "Hey! I am brave! I just think going around and stabbing girls isn't the right thing to do!"
Hel sighed and rubbed a spot on her arm softly, like a nurse wiping a spot on the skin to prepare for injection, Elorie scooted as far back in her seat as she could as Hel brought the knife up high and stabbed it down into her arm.
Elorie nearly let out a shriek as the knife went through Hel's arm and out on the other side, the wound was oozing blackish-green, thick blood. All the colour drained out of Elorie's face as she saw the blood ooze slowly, and she was even more horrified that Hel hadn't even flinched.
"What the hell! How are you not crying out in pain?" Elorie said, scooting forward in her seat, the scratchy, yet velvety fabric of the seat scratching at her thighs, she hadn't bothered to wear anything under her skirt.
Hel sighed and pulled the knife out from her wound with a sickening noise which made everyone grimace, immediately, the wound started to close up and heal, seconds later, the wound was gone. "Now do you believe me?" Hel asked with a smirk in her face as she sat back in her seat.
"Oh no, I totally don't believe you," Elorie said sarcastically, and after Hel raised her eyebrow and Elorie relented, "Yeah I believe you now, no one that isn't godly would be able to heal from a stab wound that fast."
Hel smiled in victory while the two boys on Hels side looked defeated, "Wait, so your last name is Potter and yours is Sirius?" Elorie asked.
The boys' chests puffed out, "I'm James Potter," the boy closest to the window said, Elorie noticed he had comically round glasses on his face.
"And I'm Sirius," the shaggy-haired bit closest to Hel said, pointing a thumb to himself, "Black," he added as an afterthought.
Elorie nodded in understanding and quickly realized these were the boys that did really well in their classes, but were quite arrogant and liked to act as if they knew everything in the world, so like boy versions of Elorie, "So You're James, but I thought Remus said that Hel calls everyone by their last name? And she just called Sirius, well, Sirius, and not Black."
Sirius was about to answer but Hel did it for him, "Sirius isn't that fond of his last name to put it simply, therefore I ignore that bit of his name and call him Sirius."
Elorie nodded, so Sirius wasn't a bad black, one of the rare good ones, "Alright, Fine then, who's the boy by Remus? Oh, and Sirius your family is foul, your cousin is a downright crazy sorry excuse for a woman," she added.
Hel visibly flinched at Elorie's description of Bellatrix, but Sirius nodded vigorously in agreement, then James opened his big mouth.
"Oh that's Peter Pettigrew," James said, "Say hi Peter."
Peter waved awkwardly with a smile on his face.
"He's shy," James supplied for Elorie.
Elorie nodded again, seriously, her head was going to fall off if she nodded another time today.
"Oh, and Elorie, do you mind coming here for a second?" Hel said leaning in, which prompted Elorie to lean in too then suddenly Hel pulled her fist back a bit and swung at Elorie's face.
"Oi!" Elorie cried out, holding her eye and looking angrily at Hel, "What the hell was that for?" She asked. Her hand inched closer to her wand to cast a spell, now that was proking her and poking tongs at a fire.
"I'm terribly sorry for that," Hel said sincerely, pulling a vial of who-knows-what out of her pocket, "But I stole this potion from Madam Pomfrey, it'll heal your wounds in no time when you drink it," Hel handed the bottle to Elorie, "Drink it the second you get out of King's Cross Station, away from Bella."
Elorie eyed the potion sceptically, still nursing her bruised eye, she guessed she had a black eye. She got a lot of those when she went to primary school before she knew she was a witch, Elorie was the kind of girl to never back down from a fight and to always fight bullies (like a certain Brooklyn Bitch back in the forties, you know who you are) which resulted in bumps and bruises everywhere. She rubbed a thumb over the smooth bottle, cold to the touch.
"And how do I know this isn't going to kill me or something?" Elorie asked, "I mean, you just punched me in the face and gave me a black eye, so who's to say you won't poison me?"
Hel rolled her eyes then turned to Sirius, "Hey Sirius, do you mind being my example for a moment?"
Sirius shrugged, "Sure," he said as he rolled up his sleeve up to his shoulder, Hel took out her wand and her knife, first casting a spell that would hopefully numb the spot if she was lucky, then taking her knife and cutting a thin cut on Sirius' upper arm. Sirius didn't flinch, so Elorie knew the spell worked for the numbing thing. Of course, she didn't know that this came as a complete surprise to Hel and Sirius, who both knew that Hel was absolutely horrible at Pink Magic.
"Hand me the potion will you?" Hel asked, holding a hand out to Elorie, who gave her the bottle.
Elorie watched as Hel pulled out a hankie for her robe and poured a bit of the potion onto it, she gently closed the bottle and dapped the hankie onto Sirius' wound, which healed slowly after the potion was dabbed on it. Elorie didn't know this, but Hel was seriously considering pressing a kiss to the now-disappeared wound and saying, "all better," but what Elorie did know and see was Hel's satisfied look as she showed her the now-healed wound.
"Fine, it's not poison," Elorie said, taking the bottle from Hel again.
Hel smiled triumphantly as she gently rolled Sirius' sleeve down, "Yes, I suggest taking about three large sips of it to heal the wound, or you can pour a bit of it in a folded handkerchief and dab it there," Hel said as she turned to Elorie. Remus, James, and Peter had sparked up a new conversation ages ago, and Elorie only caught snippets of it since her attention was on Hel.
Then, Elorie had a bright idea, bright, but stupid, very, very, stupid, "Hey, what would happen if I chug this down in one go?" Elorie asked a bright twinkle in her eyes and she held the bottle up at eye-level sloshing around the contents of the bottle.
"Oh lords no!" Hel cried out, "I haven't studied these things for that long, and who knows what would happen! I doubt you'd get healthier, if anything, you'd get very sick!"
Elorie grinned, "But I mean, YOLO right?"
"Faen YOLO! I don't need to be responsible for a sick student thank you very much," Hel said, then she stood up and brushed her robes off, "Well, I must get going, Bella, Andy, and Cissy will be wondering what I'm doing."
"Sweet, bye Hel!" Sirius said, waving, which everyone joined him in.
Hel smiled and waved back, halfway out the door before she turned around and leaned on the doorframe saying, "Bye ... what do you boys call yourselves again?"
James wrinkled his eyebrows, "Like a friend group name?"
"Yes! Exactly!"
"Oh... we need to think of one don't we?" Remus asked.
"Well, yes you do, but until then, bye boys and girl!" Hel said before leaving. Elorie noticed that the second Hel stepped out of the compartment she stood with a posture that was so perfect that it looked painful with a regal look on her face that wasn't a sneer, nor smile, but it wanted a frown either, it was something like a mix of the three.
Elorie watched as Hel asked off, then fidgeted in her seat a bit to unstick her legs for the fabric, "Sooooooooooo...." she said, "I feel like I should get back to my friends, but I'm sure they'll be fine without me, so wanna talk?"
"Sure!" All four boys replied in unison, which made everyone laugh heartily.
James and Sirius grinned widely while Remus and Peter just shrugged as they emerged from that fateful encounter. Hel, on the other hand, looked extremely, very, horribly embarrassed, she was obviously trying to hide it, and she was pretty good at it, but Elorie saw the embarrassment mostly because she always tries to hide her embarrassment after failing some epic prank.
"Wow, that's how you five, I guess six, fatefully met?" Olivia asked, sitting cross-legged on the floor near the fire.
"Yep," Elorie said, popping the p on the end, "then Prongs here introduced me to his twin sister, and let me tell you, at the time I thought she was quieter and shyer than a mouse! She was literally the meekest thing I had ever seen, then I got to know her and the bomb went off."
Pandora chuckled, turning to Elorie, "Okay, maybe I was shy when I was first meeting you, I'll agree to that, plus you were with Remus and I was probably a little more than distracted by that. But did you just compare me to a bomb?"
"Yeah," Elorie said grinning, then turned to everyone else to find her next victim, "My turn!"
๐ณ๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
He was indeed quite a little embarrassed when Elorie talked about how they met. Hel had a horribly thick Icelandic-Norwegian accent at the time, and it was quite embarrassing, plus she actually had thought about kissing Sirius' injury, but she had refrained from doing so thank the gods. At the time, Hel was sort of an apprentice to Bellatrix, she was like a sister to Hel, one of the first people (other than Sirius and Lily) to befriend her, and she had always been thankful for the Black sisters for always being there when she needed them. If Hel could have one place to be the queen she was, it was with the Blacks, who took care of her like she was one of their own sisters, something Hel never had the experience of doing since her older brothers weren't exactly present a lot of the time. (You know, Fenris being a gigantic-ass wolf that's chained somewhere in the nine realms, Jormungandr a giant serpent wrapped around Midgard, and Sleipnir being the steed of Odin.)
Hel had abstinently started scooting closer and closer to Sirius with the passing minutes until she was practically thigh to thigh with him, something she didn't really think about until Elorie said her name, which caused her to quickly realize how close she was to Sirius and to spring away.
"Hel, Hogwarts resident Queen and Goddess, truth or dare?" Elorie asked, grinning widely.
"Truth," Hel said, choosing to play it cool and safe, but oh by her own name was that option the very most not safe.
"Where'd you get your necklace, and not the one linked to your father," Elorie asked, then looked at Sirius, "I feel like it's connected to Paddy's ring somehow, but Hel do I know."
Hel flinched slightly at the improper use of her name and suddenly realized that Elorie was more observant than she took her for. She mentally cussed Elorie out and glared at her, "What have I said about using my name the improper way?" she asked.
Elorie rolled her eyes, "Oh I don't know, I forgot," she said sarcastically while Hel just glared at her a tiny bit more, "Okay fine, never use it the wrong way because it feels like someone poked a needle to your brain, right, and that's why God himself didn't want people using his name in vain because it hurts."
Hel smiled sarcastically, "Yes, and I, er, let me just tell you the story, and I swear on River Styx I'll tell the truth," she said, then thunder rumbled outside because of her promise.
Some people jumped at the thunder because it was bright and clear outside, and Hel grinned at the response she got, she then started re-telling the story of that fateful Christmas of her fifth year...
Hel sighed as once more, she shadow travelled to the Fat Lady in her nightdress, she shook off the shadows on her neck before saying the password and climbing in. Hel saw James sitting on the chair by the fire and he pounced up, "Lokidottir!"
Hel sat down in a different chair, "What is it, Potter? It's usually Sirius or Lily that asks me to come here," she said, revelling in the warm and homey atmosphere of the Gryffindor common room. It wasn't like the Slytherin common room wasn't warm and homey, it was just that it felt more like a palace to be stern and royal, in the Gryffindor common room she could be whoever she wanted to be.
James ruffled his hand nervously as he paced, "Yeah, but I really need you here Lokidottir, for Christmas my family is going on a holiday, meaning we won't be in our house," he said, turning to Hel with a worried expression on his face, his hair an absolute mess.
Hel raised her flesh eyebrow, "And?" she asked, she had a decent idea of what James wanted, but she decided to make sure her hunch was correct before sounding stupid.
James threw his hands up into the air, "Well, that means that Sirius won't be able to come to my home if things get rough."
"What about Remus? Pettigrew? McFellon?" Hel asked. It wasn't like she didn't want to be there for Sirius, oh no! She loved- er-liked the boy a lot, she just wanted her to only be a last-resort option.
"They live too bloody far fucking away!" James shouted to the ceiling in frustration, something Hel found quite amusing becuase it wasn't like she was going to bail on Sirius. But she made a big show of having no idea what James was talking about for payback on the prank he played on her the week before.
Hel sighed, "And what would you like me to do about that?" she asked, putting her hands in her lap, the silky fabric of her nightdress cooling her fingers by the fire.
"I was wondering if maybe you could convince his ma and pa if he could stay at Hogwarts," James asked, a hopeful look plastered on his face.
"Me?" Hel asked, well, it made sense.
It wasn't like the Blacks would listen to just any Wizarding family, not the Potters (Sirius had told Hel that Euphemia Potter and Walburga Black had hated each other since childhood, which made absolute sense in Hel's opinion), not the Lupins, not the Pettigrews, and to Helheim with the idea of the McFellons asking. Honestly, the only family that really could convince the Blacks to do anything were other Blacks and Hel's godly family. That's right, the Blacks literally only listen to gods.
"Yes you, you're the only one who's actually able to do it. Do you reckon your father can convince them somehow? Just this once! For my best mate!"
"He's not only your friend Potter, but he's also mine too. Of course, I'll mail my father a letter, he can convince them, he is the god of trickery, lies, mischief, and fire amongst other things, he's very persuasive. I'll send him a Raven straightaway, but I saw that there were only probably two others that signed up to stay, won't he be a bit lonely?" Hel and, then James sent her one his grins, and Hel's face immediately fell, "no," she said quickly as James grinned further, "No no no no no no no! I spend every Christmas on Asgard and it's amazing! We go hunting, there are feasts in honour of most us, there's the winter ball, there are presents from my family-"
"For Sirius, Lokidottir?" James asked, his grin replaced with a look that would make the gods pity him and, by experience, it was hard to make the gods pity you.
Hel just glared at James' face, it was pathetic really, so pleading, but she'd do anything to make sure Sirius doesn't have to go back to that horrid home of his. Hel knew what it was like to have a finally who hated you, her mother hated her terribly and abused her all the time, she didn't wish that experience on her worst enemy, and especially not the boy she lov- the boy she was friends with.
"Fine Potter, I'm only doing this for Sirius so wipe that smug grin right off your face," Hel growled, as James' grin returned in half a second after Hel said fine, "Is that all?" she asked before she was about to stand up, seeing as James was already sprinting to the Gryffindor Dorm Staircase.
James nodded hollering as he ran up the stairs. Hel sighed, "I'm only doing this for Sirius," she muttered to herself as she made the plans in her head.
Hel sighed heavily as she slipped out of the common room and right outside of the fat lady portrait, leaning her head back on the portrait she focused on the entrance to the Slytherin common room and felt as the shadows enveloped her in their comforting darkness and she was transported to her destination.
James, on the other hand, was hollering up the staircase, no doubt waking up a ton of students as he burst into his, Sirius, Remus, and Peter's dorm, only half-way out of breath.
Sirius was sitting on Remus' bed with Remus and Pandora sitting on it too, it was a tight squeeze but the two were trying to comfort a scared-out-of his mind, Sirius. Peter was sitting on his bed twiddling his thumbs and Elorie was lounging on Sirus' bed, shouting out comforting things to Siitrus that might've not been that comforting, but she meant well.
When James burst into the dorm, all eyes were glued onto him, Sirius even poked his head up from his knees as he sensed his best mate running through the door... or he could've heard James hollering.
"So? Will she convince her dad?" Pandora asked, rubbing Sirius' back comfortingly.
"She gonna!" James said brightly and watched as Sirius let out the breath he had been holding and the colour returned to his face.
"Thanks mate!" Sirus said, back to his old self now that he knew he wasn't going to go back to his horrible family for the winter.
A week later, after everyone had left Hogwarts, Hel was sitting in Remus' bed and reading. She knew she was safe there because the other students staying back were Ravenclaws, and those people kept to their own tower (and thank the gods they did). As for why she was in Remus' bed, she'd asked Remus if she could sleep in his bed for the break because she could not stand sleeping in the Slytherin dorm alone, luckily Remus had agreed.
"Whatcha reading Hel?" Sirius asked, sitting on his bed, playing around with transfiguration spells per the usual.
It was nighttime and Hel insisted on not closing the blinds to the windows, preferring to see the snow fall down slowly outside. It reminded her of Asgard whenever the gods decide it was time to have a snow day. While Sirius was looking outside while practising (more like trying to cause chaos with) his spells, Hel sat on her bed, reading a book while looking over every once and a while to the flurry of snow going by the window, covering the dark grass with a layer of bright white, well, it looked like a light blue, but it just made it all the more beautiful in Hel's opinion.
"Norse mythology," Hel replied, flipping a page of her book.
"But aren't you a goddess?" Sirius asked again, turning his whole body to face Hel.
Hel chuckled, tilting her head forward so her hair fell in her face slightly, "You mortals are funny. I'm reading this to amuse myself by your incorrect facts, then I'm going to write down every incorrect fact and return it," she explained, flipping another page and chuckling about a fact about her Uncle Thor.
She actually did this quite a lot with books about Mythology, so many facts were outdated, and it was very funny to see how mortals thought the gods acted. Hel would return the book to Madam Pince after writing everything wrong about the book and kindly ask for the woman to send it back to the creators. Hel would also sign her notes with her full title, so no person could mistake her for some imposter, she also suspected that Madam Pince absolutely hated her for doing things like that.
Sirius nodded, "Sounds swell," he said going back to his spell-playing, he was trying to transfigure a book into something, and Hel went back to reading, she grinned at some part then felt something fuzzy bump her, she looked down to see a dog nuzzling her, more specifically, a shaggy black german shepherd.
"You want to get on the bed?" Hel asked, petting Padfoot's head. Padfoot whined, he couldn't get into any trouble at the moment because he was all out of ideas, and he was so bored, it was also extremely late at night. Hel traded her book for Arabian Nights and patted her lap. Padfoot barked and jumped up on Hel, making himself comfortable, Hel smiled as she pet Padfoot, reading the book out loud. Hel was a few stories in when she and Padfoot started getting sleepy, yawning slightly, she memorized her page, setting the book down and turning to Padfoot.
"I've got to change in my night robe, so I'm trusting you to look away if you don't, I am never changing in front of you again, except for when I'm in heat, then no rules apply," she ordered. Padfoot barked and looked the other way, Hel rummaged through her stuff, picking out a black night robe with low v-neck neckline with long sleeves and it was shorter than she'd like, but she didn't care, she took her clothes off and looked at Padfoot, who was looking the other way, Hel slipped on the dress and tapped Padfoot, "Done, like it?"
Padfoot took one look at Hel and barked happily as he pounced on her. In midair he turned back into his human form as he crashed into Hel, causing both of them to fall to the floor. Well, Hel managed to stay on the bed, Sirius was groaning on the floor, "I didn't expect that to happen," he moaned, he had changed in PJs ages ago.
Hel laughed, "Of course you didn't, now get up and either be a cute dog again, or you aren't sleeping in the same bed as me."
Sirius perked up as he changed into Padfoot, he curled up next to Hel on the bed and Hel covered the both of them with a blanket, she smiled as she buried her face in Padfoot's fur, "Goodnight Sirius," Hel mumbled, her Norwegian accent much more prominent when she was tired. Padfoot barked softly in response, and, in Hel's sleep, Sirius noted that she held onto him like a security blanket.
The next morning Hel woke up next to Sirius and freaked out just a tiny bit ... Okay, she nearly screeched but Sirius just smiled, "Hel, don't scream, I woke up in the middle of the night and changed back, but you looked really peaceful and you were still holding onto me, I didn't wanna go back to my own bed," he whispered
Hel bit her lip and got up quickly, "You're obviously sleepy, you need some breakfast in you," she said blushing, grabbing a random robe and slipping in the shower. Sirius just grinned from his spot on the bed.
A week or so later, it was Christmas morning and Hel awoke to the worst sound ever. "HEL WAKE UP ITS PRESENT TIME!" Sirius screeched, shaking Hel awake. Hel groaned as Sirius shook her back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, obviously not actually knowing she was awake because of his loud screech.
Hel fought back the urge to summon a knife and stab Sirius, instead, she just pushed his face from out of hers. "No Sirius," she mumbled with a thick accent, "It's much too early for this."
"Please Hel?" Sirius asked, and Hel could just feel the puppy dog eyes in his voice.
"No, what will it take to shut you up?" Hel asked, groaning.
"A kiss?" Sirius asked, smirking like the ladies boy he was.
Hel's eyes popped right open then, she was completely, utterly, and fully awake, she leapt up from her bed and yelled, "Alright, I'm up!", grabbing her faux fur robe and slipping on slippers, Sirius looked distressed at Hel's robe and she just glared at him, "What?"
"It looks like you're wearing my skin," Sirius pouted, his bottom lip stuck out a bit, as Hel rolled her eyes, walking out of the dorm.
There was a Christmas tree and the fire was already burning, Hel sat by the fire and Sirius ran for the presents, Hel smiled as he tried to find his presents and then freaked out because her presents were probably under the Slytherin tree. Sirius seemed to read her mind and grinned, "Nah, they're right here," he said, handing Hel a bunch of presents.
Hel blushed when she saw Sirius' pile compared to hers, he had six presents while she seemed to have sixty, "Oh," she mumbled softly.
Sirius realized what she was talking about, "It's fine Hel!" He said, "I'm still happy, see!" He said, giving her a childish grin.
Hel shook her head and smiled, "Open mine first," she said, nodding to his pile.
Sirius looked between his presents, one was wrapped in silver (no doubt his parents'), one green (Regulus), one red (Remus), one gold (James), one light blue (Pandora), one purple (Elorie), one brown (Peter), and one black, he opened the black one to find another box in it, he looked to Hel with a puzzled expression on his face. Hel just smiled and gestured for him to keep going, he took the box out, and another one, and there seemed to be seven boxes before he came to a small box which looked like a ring box. It was gorgeous, black diamonds on the top and it looked like it was carved from black gold. He looked at Hel with a confused smirk and Hel laughed, gesturing for him to open it, he did and he gasped, there was a small ring, and on it was the Canis Major constellation, and the Sirius star had a beautiful diamond on it, he looked to the top of the inside of the box and found Hel's silver writing,
'Dear Sirius, I hate to admit it, but you're one of my closest friends, I've really only had subjects and lackeys, but you're a real friend, it was fun spending this break with you. With all my love (actually, not all of it, but a lot of it), Hel Lokidottir.'
Sirius grinned and gently pulled the ring out and he noticed an engraving on the inside, "Sirius Black-Potter-Lupin-Pettigrew." Sirius' face melted in a bigger smile as he fit it on his first finger.
"Do you like it?" Hel asked Sirius to reply by giving Hel the biggest hug ever, "Yes," he whispered.
Hel smiled and pulled away, "It's only fair I open yours first," Hel said, grabbing Sirius' gift, which was wrapped in bright gold and scarlet, it was rather small, but Hel knew the small things were the best sometimes, she opened it to find three things, a note, a wrapped package, and a small jewellery box. Hel cocked her head to the side as she read the note.
"Dear Hel, it's weird having a friend that's a girl, I mean, there's Pan and Elorie, but I've got to know them a lot better than you, I had no idea what to get you, but after spending some more time with you I got you these I hope you like them. Your Oaf, Sirius." It said in Sirius' signature scrawl.
Hel smiled and picked up the package, gently prying off the wrapping. Hel gasped, there, sat the most beautiful book she had ever seen, the edges were painted with beautiful colours, there was gold trim, beautiful pictures, and beautiful metallic lettering. "Arabian Nights," Hel whispered, flipping through the book, to her delight, the pictures didn't move, but were stationary.
Sirius grinned, "Yeah, you always read your old one to me at night before we go to sleep, and it was pretty beat up, so I thought I'd get you a new one." Hel smiled gratefully, she'd had her old one since she was very little. It had actually been a gift as well when she was five years old, a gift form her father to be exact. When Loki took her away from her mother it was on her fifth birthday, one of the many gifts he gave Hel was the old, battered book, "Arabian Nights", one of the first copies to be made on Asgard to be exact. It had been through some rough times, and she absolutely adored the book, but now she had a new one.
"Thank you," Hel whispered with a smile on her face.
"Not yet open the other one!" Sirius said.
Hel took the jewellery box and opened it, she nearly gasped in surprise, there, was a silver necklace, with a locket with her symbols on it, she opened it to find that it was empty, but on the back, it had an engraving "Hel Black-Evans-Lokidottir, Princess Of Asgard, Rightful Queen Of Helheim, Goddess of Death, Ruler of the Dead."
"Yeah, I added my last name and Lily's last name to yours, hope you don't mind," Sirius said, smirking.
Hel just shook her head, handing the necklace to Sirius, "Put it on for me?"
Sirius looked to the locket and took it, gesturing for Hel to turn around, she did and gathered her long dark hair to her side as Sirius clasped the necklace, He asked did her to turn around and there she was, she smiled as she rubbed the locket, "Do you have any spare photos of you?" Hel asked her if she noticed the locket hung above the one her father gave her.
Sirius blushed, "Yeah I can give it to you later," he said, getting softer with every word.
Hel smiled, and both she and Sirius ripped into their other presents, getting various things. Hel got new hunting knives, dresses, robes, new books, new quills, new inks, literally everything. Sirius got a lot of sweets, prank things, dog toys, an ornate comb, and then a picture frame with a photo in it. Hel looked over to see that Sirius had his head down and his knuckles were practically white from how hard he was clutching the frame. Hel looked over his shoulder and saw the photo, which made her boil with anger. It was a photo of Sirius' immediate family, mum, dad, brother, him, except he was ripped out from the photo, the message was clear, "You're an embarrassment and a disgrace." Hel noticed tears forming in Sirius' eyes, she understood, it happened to her with her mother, they claimed that they weren't family to them, but then when something like this happened, you're reminded that this is your family and that they love you, and it hurts.
"Hey," she whispered, "I have one more gift for you," she said as she brought out her locket, then she took Sirius' hand, the one with the ring on it. She muttered some incantations, holding both her locket and the ring, then she looked at Sirius and kissed him. Of course, he was surprised at first, but then he kissed Hel back, and just as soon as it happened she pulled away, biting her lip, "Rub the ring," she instructed. Sirius did as she asked and Hel winced as she felt the pang of sadness go through her, "Yup it works," she muttered.
"What works?" Sirius asked, then he was kissed again by Hel, who rubbed her locket while she did so and Sirius felt a happiness flow through him, then he realized that was what Hel meant.
Of course, later, they denied everything, they didn't kiss, they didn't sleep until the same bed, Hel never read stories to Sirius before he slept, they never got each other gifts. That ring? No, that's from my great aunt Marge. That necklace? That's from my fifth aunt ten times removed from Juno.
Hel finished her story, but conveniently left out the bits about kissing and the cutesy stuff, but she still explained how the necklace worked, "So it's like my father and my other locket. With my father's though, it's linked to his body, unlike mine and Sirius' which is linked to his ring. For an explanation to why my last name wasn't on Sirius' ring. For my culture, as you already know, you take your father's name and add son or dottir, so Lokidottir wouldn't work for Sirius, but Orionson would, but that had nothing to do with me and honestly is such a horrid name."
Hel looked over to Sirius, who was grinning softly, sending a small, smirk to Hel and discreetly rubbing his ring, which sent shots of love and joy through Hel. She smiled softly and rubbed her own locket, which she hoped sent love and friction back to Sirius, and a desire for more. It was silent for a bit and Hel awkwardly glared at selected people, but eventually, Lily smiled and cooed, "That's adorable!" she said, smiling widely.
Hel really hoped she wasn't blushing, it was kind of adorable if you looked at it from one view, plus that was the time she fell even more in love with Sirius. It was quite fun to just spend the entire day with him, joking around, helping set up decorations (for the record, Hel was the one who put up the black wreath with crow bones in it, no it wasn't spooky Sirius, it was beautiful), playing in the snow (Hel would admit that Sirius was quite a bit better than her at snow-ball fights), and just sitting by the fire drinking hot cocoa and talking (or making potions in Hel's case.)
Hel chuckled awkwardly then looked at everyone, "Alright, it's my turn, Carmichael? Truth or dare?"
๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Thalia looked up from her book and looked to Hel. Admittedly, Thalia had only been paying half-attention to Hel, she was reading a book about a Greek Demigod, a son of Poseidon, and it was quite interesting. Well, about as interesting as a book based on mythology could get when you were sitting not a few feet away from an actual live goddess.
Thalia has always liked and slightly admired Hel's intelligence and sass, but she doesn't like her or her "followers" very much and thinks they are all overrated. She tries to avoid them as much as possible, and Thalia thought that they only bring trouble, which honestly wasn't that far from the truth most days.
Thalia looked over her book and to Hel and she thought about the choices for a moment. With a truth she would be forced to spill her guts, and she couldn't lie because that just wasn't fair, plus she was positive someone in the room could brew (or might even have a bottle of) veritaserum, and she really didn't want to know what she would spill if she drank that. Well, she was for sure someone in the room had it on them, she was sitting in a room full of pranksters, mad genius', a few potions masters, teacher's pets, and a literal goddess to top it all off. If anyone wanted to, they could whip out (or brew) a bottle of the truth serum. With a dare, on the other hand, she would be forced to do something she didn't like, which sounded pretty mild compared to what she would have to do for a truth, plus the dress so far had been pretty much harmless, so might as well...
"I choose dare," Thalia said, putting her bookmark in her page and setting it gently in her lap. There's no harm in having a little fun? Right?
Thalia watched as Hel thought for a moment, tilting her head a bit in thought. Thalia noticed that it was a little quirk of hers, it's a wonder how her head hadn't become wobbly by then, or maybe it was wobbly, and how did her head stay in her neck like that if half of her neck was dead flesh? Heck, how does her system even work? Is it magic? A spell? So many unanswered questions. As Thalia was thinking up a question to research about later (knowledge is the greatest source of power after all) Hel seemed to get a lovely idea in her head since she grinned widely. Thalia knew this was never a good sign, she had shared a common room with the Marauders for barely a week, but she already knew a wide grin with a mischievous twinkle in the eyes the best situation for the victim. In her case, the victim was herself, which was just lovely.
"I dare you to sit in Lestrange's lap for the rest of the game," Hel said, crossing her arms and leaning back on her couch, which seemed to just make it more final, she even smirked, her upper lip pressed out just a slight bit more than her bottom lip.
"What? You're kidding!" Thalia said, her face one of disbelief. Sitting on Rabastan's lap? For the rest of the game? That's more than thirty minutes if she was lucky and calculating correctly!
Hel just grinned, "I'm not, have fun!" she said, waving goodbye to Thalia as she jerked her head slightly over to where Rabastan was sitting.
Thalia looked over to where Rabastan looked quite a little shocked by Thalia's dare. He was sitting on a chair next to Harley's and the seat next to him was occupied by Rosier. Thalia glared at Rosier and Rabastan before picking her butt off of the ground (still holding her book tightly because that was very important thank you very much) and going over to where Rabastan was, plopping down on his lap.
Thalia's face got a bit hot when she did plop onto Rabstan's lap, even if she couldn't help it. Her brain released oxytocin, the feel-good hormone that makes you feel like nothing can hurt you. Something she knew about because she read it in a book somewhere if anything she probably read the book not a day ago. The contact with Rabastan just made her feel happy even if she didn't want to. It was bad enough sitting in Rabastan's lap, but when he slowly wrapped his arms around Thalia's waist, her face burned.
Thalia herself was around 5'9", and she knew Rabastan was only an inch taller than her, but she felt his head lean forward and rest slightly on her shoulder, where it fit perfectly, it would seem that she was around two or three inches shorter than him when sitting down. Damn legs.
"Since when have you been willing to initiate contact with a 'filthy half-blood,'" Thalia asked, scoffing, her hair probably getting in Rabastan's face a little, not that she cared. Honestly, Rabastan has called her half-blood more times than she could count, sometimes using her last name if they were both in a good mood, but not once has she heard him call her "Thalia" and to hell with "Thals." They weren't on a first-name basis, much less comfortable with nicknames, Thalia was positive she's never called him "filthy pure blood," mostly just Lestrange, but maybe once by accident, she's called him Rabstan, just once.
Rabastan shrugged, "Since my brain released oxytocin," he said.
"How do you even know about that? I imagined your kind of blood-supremacist people doesn't fancy learning things regarding muggle science including things similar to that," Thalia said curiously, pursing her lips slightly as her eyebrows scrunched up.
"Well, I read stuff from over your shoulder."
"What?!"
"I said I re-."
"I heard what you bloody said."
"Then why did you ask me wh-."
"That was the sort of question that you don't respond that way to."
Someone cleared their throat and Thalia looked up to see Hel with her hand to her mouth, her eyes looking over at Thalia and Rabastan where they were bickering.
"Well this has been adorable, it really has been, but I think it's your turn," Hel said, awkwardly trying not to look at where Rabastan's hands were wrapped around Thalia's waist.
Thalia nodded, "Right," she said, looking around to everyone in the room, "Eeeerrr, Olivia, truth or dare?"
Thalia saw as Olivia looked up from rolling her years at something Lily had said, "Yes?" She asked at first, then chuckled lightly and tuck her hair behind her ear, looking down slightly, "I mean truth."
"Do you use coconut shampoo and conditioner?" Rabastan asked, his chin still in Thalia's neck, "Because your hair smells funny and I don't know if it's bad or-"
Thalia resisted the urge to whip her face around to face Rabastan, knowing it would probably only result in the two bonking heads, or worse, them kissing.
"We share a bath, you can look for yourself," she said before turning back to Olivia.
๐บ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Olivia rolled her eyes at something Lily muttered under her breath and chuckled a bit, she heard her name being called and popped her head up, looking at Thalia, "Yes?" she asked at first. She had completely forgotten she was supposed to say the truth or dare. Olivia realized her mistake and chuckled, tucking her hair behind her ear, "I mean truth," she said smiling.
Olivia watched Thalia a bit before she whipped around presumably talking to Rabastan about.. baths? Thalia then sighed and turned to Olivia, tapping her finger on her chin in thought.
"Hmmmmm," Thalia mumbled, then got a bright look on her face, "What do you believe your fathers are going to say concerning this entire situation?"
Olivia sprained her eyebrows up then tilted her head a little, "I presume you mean he soulmate thing?"
"No, I'm talking about the giant chicken feast we had last evening," Thalia said chuckling and giving Olivia an amused look.
Olivia just rolled her eyes and thought for a moment, her eyes flashing over to Evan, who was giving her a... complicated look. It was like part amusement, part worry, part envy, and something else she couldn't quite place. Olivia stopped thinking about Evan and thought to her dads, what would they say about this whole soulmate sorting? Well, first of all, they'd be intrigued, since it obviously didn't happen in their age because, well, You-Know-Who want running rampage. But they'd also be pretty excited since Olivia's never actually brought a boy home before...
"I think my dad would be pretty intrigued about the idea of this whole thing, no doubt they already know, the Ministries got to have contacted them by now. As for my own actual soulmate-" Olivia's eyes flashed over to where Evan was playing with his fingers next to Rabastan, "- I think they'd be overjoyed and really excited since I've never brought a boy home before. That is if we even get along."
Everyone seemed to agree that most of their parents would react that way, judging by the faces and comments, Olvia caught snippets of a few...
"You know my father, and you know what he'd think. Oh joyous, more mischief, how lovely, just in my field of godliness, plus, knowing he is the god of mischief, he'd have to have already known, I'll reread the eaters he sent me to you later."
"I'm sure my mum would be so happy to know that my soulmate is in the Black family tree."
"My mum won't care, not that I'd bring McFellon home anyways."
"Oh mums going to be overjoyed Dora, just wait till she hears I'm Bi, didn't even know I was bi!"
"Well, they won't be happy when they find out my soulmate is a halfie..."
"I don't have a soulmate!"
"Neither do I...."
"Well I know that my mums going to be overjoyed You're my soulmate, Dora, I bet she and your mum'll be planning our wedding tomorrow and our children's names next week."
Olivia just rolled her eyes at everyone's reactions with a smile on her face. She didn't hear one reaction though, and it was Evan's response. He just kept on fidgeting with his hands with his head down, she knew that he was very loyal to his family (just about the only thing she knew about him) and she knew she was a pure-blooded witch, so there was really nothing to worry about for him. Olivia never really focused on boys, and it's not like she's ever cried over one, but she just wishes Evan would tell her hats wrong. She liked to think her most defining trait was how caring she was to people she was close to, and she hoped Evan could be one of those people.
Of course, Evan was only loyal to his family, so it wasn't like he was going to open up like a book and just talk to Olivia, but if Olivia talked to him then maybe she could get him to trust her? It was worth a shot. She tried back in when they were in her dorm, and sharing a dorm just made it easier... or about just as hard.
Olivia rolled her eyes at her own self and her thoughts as she peeked over at Evan, who just so happened to be looking at her. Olivia quickly looked away and turned to find the next person to ask truth or dare to, and she looked no further than to the rich bitch... okay that was a bit mean.
"Clark, truth or dare?" Oliva asked, turning over to where Miranda was plainly flirting with Regulus, who seemed half-uncomfortable but half-into it. A feeling and look Olivia knew too well when trying to get Evan to actually talk to her.
Miranda sighed and rolled her eyes, twisting her perfect curl around her finger almost enchantingly, "Truth," she answered simply, pulling her hair over her pretty painted lips and kissing it as she let the locks fall back into formation- er, place, not even a hint of a stain on the blonde hair.
Olivia rolled her eyes and thought for a moment...
๐ธ๐๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Miranda had been fully invested in her job the entire week. What was her job you ask? Why darlings, let her tell you. Her job was to get Reguglus to realize his feelings for her, he was her soulmate, after all, or at the very least just like her back.
She had been whispering sweet things to him and looking at him through her eyelashes, her big -practically doe- eyes looking at him with a completely innocent and sweet look in them. Miranda could practically feel Regulus submitting to his own feelings before Olivia so rudely called her name.
"Clark, truth or dare," Olivia asked.
Miranda sighed and rolled her eyes, picking up a lock of her perfectly curled blonde hair with her beautifully manicured fingers and twisting it around she forefinger like someone twisting a wand for a spell, "Truth," she said smiling, pulling her hair to her pink lips, letting the curl fall down without smearing her lipstick. A skill she perfected with experience and the right products, it came really useful for idiot doofuses she liked to flirt with who thought witch's lips were naturally perfectly pink. Well, some (including Miranda herself) could argue she had perfectly natural pink lips, but not everyone was as fortunate.
Miranda watched as Olivia rolled her eyes at her little antic and thought before obviously getting an idea in her head.
"What was your first impression of Regulus?" Olivia asked, smirking.
"First impression after I found out he was my soulmate, or before?" Miranda asked, flattening her skirt out. Miranda had been sitting mermaid style in the couch Regulus was on, her legs facing away from Reggie of course.
Olivia rolled her eyes again, really, she'd get her eyes stuck up her head if she did it any more, and that wasn't a good look, "Before," she said.
Miranda thought back to the first time she first saw Regulus, "I couldn't have been older than nine, I might've been a bit younger, but around that year. It was one of those pureblood balls where the purebloods mix and mingle. I think it's mostly for adults to find spouses and arrange marriages." Miranda paused to take a breath and Hel butt in to say something.
"How young were you when you had your first ball?" Hel asked, much closer to Sirius than a the beginning of the game, something Miranda delightfully noted. If all went well, they would be sisters-in-law soon. Not that she really wanted to be sisters-in-law with the mythic bitch. She and Hel weren't exactly the best of friends, Hel had followers, she had followers, and even though they were in different houses and years, Miranda still felt a bit threatened by Hel.
"How old were you?" Miranda asked, answering Hels question with one of her own. She may be a rich bitch, but she wasn't just rich in money, she liked to know things before others, something that made her a good matchmaker because if you know the two spoons and their personalities, it's always easier to pair them together.
Hel smiled, her right slide tilting up in a grin, at the moment, Miranda didn't see a dead corpse, so a Hel must've put on the illusion, "I was five years old, it was the night of my fifth birthday, it was also my welcoming to Asgard," she said simply.
Miranda just smiled back, "I was six during my first ball, but I was kept close to my parents and instructed to keep my head up and to look pretty not to talk."
"Well, similar to mine, except they left out the look pretty, rather they told me to be comfortable."
Miranda nodded and went back to her truth, "Well, this had probably been my thirtieth ball, and I was getting very tired and extremely bored. It was really just food, adults talking and very watered down wine for the kids. Then I saw him, Regulus, from across with the ball and he had the same look on his face as I did, for the record, I saw Sirius nowhere, so he must've been off with Andromeda or something."
Sirius scoffed at this, and Miranda just glared at him. Lord knows what he was doing during that ball, he couldn't have been older than ten years old and he was already up causing trouble with Andromeda all the time. Miranda never took part in the mischief, but it was pretty fun to see something exciting happen at those boring balls.
"I walked over to Regulus and I introduced myself, which he did too. I may have been young but I saw that he was very, extremely handsome and I could tell he was very nice as well. We eventually got to talking and just having fun, going to what we now call our little corner of the ball and just playing games, eating, and talking, it was just lovely and the adults never noticed us. We did that a lot afterwards, and I always tried to look my most radiant for Reggie.
"I guess you could say my first impression of Regulus was pure love," Miranda finished smiling, happy to have her work done.
Most people were quite silent, they probably took Miranda as a rich bitch or something (okay she was), with all the people she snogs but, surprise surprise! She had a heart full of love underneath her bitchy exterior, quite the surprise to people who didn't know her.
"I didn't know that," Regulus whispered to Miranda, inching closer to her.
"Well now you do, I'll talk about it to you later," Miranda said smiling, blinking like a doll and letting her eyelashes flutter. She moved closer to Regulus too until they were barely an inch apart.
Someone cleared their throat loudly and Miranda sighed and turned around to face the group, "Yes, it's my turn isn't it?" she said sweetly, looking around, then she remembered someone was above them as well.
Miranda looked up to see Maelyn silently swinging from one of the chandeliers, the wooden one this time. It was lucky the girl wore tights under her skirt (well, she wasn't wearing a skirt at the moment, but Miranda always saw the girl wearing skirts) or else her knickers would be on display.
Miranda smiled wickedly at Maelyn, "Winkle, truth or dare?" she asked.
Maelyn frowned a bit and just kept on swinging, "Dare!" she called down.
๐ธ๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
'I wonder what lunch is going to be?' Maelyn thought, swinging from the chandelier. Maelyn hoped it was chicken noodle soup, she loved chicken noodle soup. If her absolute favourite food ever. Literally, who doesn't like it?
"Winkle, truth or dare?" A sickly sweet voice asked from below Maelyn. Maelyn craned her neck a bit so she could see the person, but she had her suspicion that it was the rich bitch.
Her suspicions were confirmed when she looked down to see a blonde, makeup-caked monstrosity right below her, smiling like some wicked enchantress. Maelyn frowned slightly, her perfect nose scrunching up, but she just kept on swinging, "Dare!" She called down, not really wanting to spill her guts.
Maelyn and Miranda hated each other. It was as simple as that. Because Maelyn is Aroace and isn't interested in "Snogging", what was the point of the two being friends anyway? They had very different outlooks on life, and Miranda was going to fill it with romantic love and beauty while Maleyn was just going to keep on pigging out on food and learning about dragons. Bless her metabolism, working overtime every day.
Miranda just grinned wickedly, "Lovely choice darling!" She called up, "I dare you to get off the chandelier and spend the rest of the game on the floor!"
Maelyn gasped loudly and was shocked into stillness, not swinging, her mouth was wide open and her eyes were pouting, "But!" She called down.
"A dares a dare," Miranda said wickedly, shrugging like an innocent as she blinked softly, letting her baby-doll lashes flutter.
Maelyn just glared at Miranda with a pout in her lip, "Rich bitch," she mumbled under his breath and she unhooked her legs from the chandelier. She quickly flipped off and landed on her feet a few inches away from Miranda with dead accuracy, scaring the everloving shit out of Miranda.
Maelyn mimicked Miranda's sweet smile, but making it look mean, "I've practised that," she said smiling with a sarcastic innocent look all over her face as she walked over to Lily and plopped down, her black kind-of crop top fluttering slightly and her knee-high boots lightly dug into her skin as she sat cross-legged on the ground.
"Everyone's upside-down," Maelyn mumbled her hands in her lap awkwardly. If she was swinging in the chandelier her hands would be busy holding her shirt up or just swinging below her, now she has nothing to do with them.
Olivia rolled her eyes and Lily giggled slightly, "It's because you're on the ground now Mae, this is actually right side up," Lily said
Maelyn pretended to look surprised, people said she was apparently a natural at looking surprised, "Really? Didn't know, I still like it better up there," she said sadly, looking up to the chandelier she so lovingly claimed. She had already scared practically everyone in the room on that chandelier already, with the exception of Lily, of course, that was mean.
Maelyn sighed and played with her red-orange hair a little. Lily's hair was fiery-red, a lot like a Weasley's while Maelyn's was a tad bit orange-y-er, she loved her hair. Though she did like to experiment a lot with it. Sometimes she would put different dyes in there just to see how the colour mixed with her naturally ginger locks, she put pinks and oranges and reds, getting different results every time, it was rather fun really tearing around, her hair would grow back anyway, so what was the rush? She's done bright red wavy bobs, some curly to her shoulders, sometimes a slightly curl until it flared out at the end, she's even tried an orange look with straight hair. It wasn't like anyone was going to judge her, no one even paid attention to her unless she was scaring them, and she'd like to keep it that way thank you very much.
Maelyn scanned the room for the next person to have fun with, Sirius Black had been dared, James Potter had been dared, Declan Lacey tied into it, Snivellus Snape had been dared, poor soul, Maelyn felt not one millimetre of remorse for it, Harley Kelly had kinda been roped into it, Elorie McFellon was dared, then Hel had been truthed, Thalia dared, Olivia truthed, and Miranda truthed. Who hadn't been asked yet?
Maelyn turned to face Remus and Pandora, who were holding each other's hands and looking expectantly at Maelyn, who grinned, "Remus, truth or dare?" She asked, smiling.
Remus immediately looked nervous and fiddled with his beanie hat. He did look quite cute when he was doing so, Maelyn could see why Pandora fell for him so hard, he looked like an adorable puppy when he was nervous.
"D-d-d-dare," Remus stuttered out.
Maelyn smiled, "I dare you to let me put a sticking charm on your and Pandora's hands, and you have to stay like that for the rest of the game," she said smiling, pulling out her wand.
Remus seemed to have been holding his breath because he breathed a big sigh of relief, "O-oh, okay, here," he said, holding out his and Pandora's interlaced hands for Maleyn to put the sticking charm on.
Maelyn grinned and kind-of leaned-in kind-of crawled over to where Pandora and Remus were, honestly, this would've been so much easier if she was just swinging off of a chandelier, aiming the spell, at their hands, she was so much better at it that way.
Maelyn mumbled the sticking charm and pulled away, admiring her handiwork, "I think it's good," she said, going back to her spot.
Remus attempted to remove his hand and Pandora's, but it wouldn't work, he smiled, "Brilliant, this is a really good charm," he said as Pandora snuck a kiss on his cheek, causing him to blush a bit.
"I'm friends with Lily Evans, of course, I'm good at Charms," Maelyn said, blushing on the inside but not the outside.
The corners of Remus' lips tilted up slightly as he looked for his target.
๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Harley'll admit to being completely overjoyed but the fact that Maelyn scared the everloving fucking shit out of the Rich Bitch, but she wasn't exactly happy to see the extremely fucking mild dare Maelyn gave Lupin, go harder! This is a game to fucking exploit people and embarrassment them to Hell and back.
Harley could kind-of smell the sweet-sour scent of Severus' shampoo as he sat the foot of their chair, still reading that bloody book. Harley themself were sitting sideways in the chair like a cat stretching. Their feet were in the air, the back of their knees on the armrest, their head (more neck) was Laing in the armrest as well.
"Kelly? Truth or dare?" Lupin asked, looking over to Harley.
Harley was a little surprised Lupin had asked them truth or dare, but just shrugged it off as being one of the few people who hadn't been chosen yet, "Fuckin' truth," they said. No, they weren't being a coward, they just weren't being stupid. They knew the dirty tricks and ideas that popped into Lupin's mind.
Lupin thought for a minute before getting a mischievous look in his eye, "What's a secret you've never told anyone?" He asked, smiling widely, and quite dorkish-ly if that was even a word.
Harley was a little taken aback, sure it was an obvious question, but seeing as she was the one to keep secrets all the time, Lupin knew where to look. Harley kept a lot of things to themself, never telling anyone they didn't fully trust anything, except for Sev, they told Sev everything. He was like a brother so he didn't count as just "anyone." Harley went through their mental files, looking for a secret that wasn't too horrible, they eventually settled on the first one that came to mind.
"I can see into the future a bit," Harley said shrugging as their hair fell in their face slightly, "I cough up fucking blood if I see too far or use it too much, but I can still do it. Side effects are shitty, but the info I get isn't."
Suddenly Hel's jaw dropped and she looked at her strangely, they didn't expect to see this reaction from the bloody goddess in the room.
"You have seiรฐr in your veins!" Hel exclaimed, her eyes growing wide, her royal composure gone, "Grandmother and Freyja told me there was one at Hogwarts, but I hadn't an idea who! I expected it to be a Ravenclaw, but it seems I was wrong," Hel said rapidly, shaking her head in disbelief, "You'll need to be trained in your art! Probably my grandmother, the finest at it, you're gifted! This is brilliant! I'll have to Raven Grandmother immediately!"
Harley was suddenly completely overwhelmed with information, they quickly sat up in their chair "the right way" as they placed their hands in either side of them, "Woah Woah Woah, hold a fucking second here, way too much info. Let's backtrack it to the beginning of your damn rant here. Seiรฐr, what the bloody hell is that?" Harley asked, their eyebrows knitting rife slightly.
"Oh yes," Hel said, regaining her composure and getting back her dignity, "Yes yes, of course, you haven't a single bloody idea what I'm talking about," she added, "Well, I was just saying, you have a gift, a mortal with seiรฐr in their veins, well, you have the ability. Seiรฐr is a type of magic practised in Norse society during the Late Scandinavian Iron Age, it is a form of magic relating to both the telling and shaping of the future It's an Ancient practice that my Grandmother Frigga and Freyja are masters at. They told me one student here was blessed with that gift, but they didn't know who. It seems I've found you, which means you'll need to go to Asgard to start training, that is if your family allows you to."
Harley was about to open their mouth but closed it. Their eyes were slanted slightly and lips pursed a bit as if trying to see through Hel and trying to figure out what the holy fuck she means, "Fuck it. Did you not hear the fucking bit where I said I cough up damn blood?"
Hel rolled her eyes as if that wasn't an issue, "That's normal for people who are starting, who haven't been trained, I'll just Raven my grandmother."
Harley rolled their eyes back at Hel and relented, it wasn't like Hel was saying that they had to go to train, it was just advised, but not coughing up blood was ideal. Harley just went back to their previous position and searched for someone to truth or dare.
๐บ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐
Olivia just sighed and rolled her eyes at the whole seiรฐr ordeal, sure she didn't really know what she'd been until He described it, but it sounded pretty cool. It was a lovely gift to have, but it came with the whole, coughing up blood side effect, which wasn't exactly the most ideal thing ever.
Olivia gnawed at the inside of her mouth a bit when Harley was looking for their next target, and yes, she used the correct pronouns because her parents were gay, if she wasn't respecting the LGBTQIA+ community, what kind of person would she be?
Olivia followed Harley's haze across the room, it was always fun to watch and listen to people who got truth or dared. Being truth or dared the other hand? Not so fun in Olivia's opinion.
"Tucker-James, truth or dare?" Harley asked, nodding their head towards Olivia.
Olivia rolled her eyes at Harley, but her defence mechanism for being nervous kicked and she forgot everything, her mind went blank, she just rolled with the first word that came to her mind, a very, very, stupid word.
"Dare," Olivia said confidently, with an award-winning, perfectly white smile, while her insides just screamed, "Why the Hell did you say dare?! REMEMBER HOW MILD THE TRUTH WAS? It was bliss! It was lovely! You idiot!"
Harley smiled viciously and tapped their chin like some evil mastermind coming up with a plan, "Hmmmmmm, I dare you...." they said, looking Olivia up and down.
Olivia bit her lip and then rolled her eyes as if to say, "Get on with it," but what she really meant was, "Take your time and please don't make me do embarrassing things."
Harley glared at Olivia and then got a vicious twinkle in their eyes, "I dare you not to roll your eyes for the rest of the game," they said grinning.
Olivia's jaw dropped and she stared at Harley offended, "What! But-"
"A dares a dare," Harley said shrugging, grinning like Hell.
Olivia wanted badly to roll her eyes at Harley's statement but was lovingly reminded by her brain that she wasn't allowed to roll her eyes because of the bloody dare. Olivia resulted in blinking it really fast and hoping her eyes wouldn't betray her and blink as she so desperately wanted to do. It was painful really, she couldn't wait for the game to be over so her eyes could be free. Okay, maybe her mind was overreacting, it had been thirty seconds and she wanted to talk to her eyes only once, that was good, right?
"Hello? Earth to Liv?" Lily asked, waving her hand in front of Olivia's face.
"What? Oh!" Olivia said she had gotten lost in her own problems, again, "Oh yes! It's my turn, isn't it? Uh," Olivia looked around and called out the first person she saw, "Potter! Truth or Dare?"
'Of everyone in this room. You chose him?' Her mind asked her.
'Oh shut up!' Olivia hissed back, smiling expectantly at James.
James looked up from trying to get Declรกn to say something to him that wasn't a remark about his very, er, beautiful face and looked to Olivia, "Who, me?" He asked, pointing to himself.
Olivia was about to roll her eyes but kept them wide open until they started to burn slightly to not do so, she sighed heavily and pursed her lips, "Unless you're hiding some other Potter over there, then yes, you."
James grinned and sat cross-legged, putting his hands on his knees like an overgrown child, which Olivia supposed he really was. James Potter, the overgrown child, it had a really nice ring to it.
"Dare!" James said brightly, and predictably.
Olivia wanted to roll her eyes once more, but very painfully kept them still, it was driving her to bloody madness! She fidgeted with her blonde hair a bit as she tough of a dare, she couldn't really think of anything, her mind lovingly blanking on her quite a bit, the only thing she could come up with was, 'What's your most embarrassing moment?' And that was a truth, but Olivia didn't really have any other ideas so....
"I dare you to tell me your most, embarrassing moment," Oliva said, giving James an award-winning smile. If there was a smiling contest at Hogwarts, she'd surely win it.
James pouted, obviously due to the lack of a life-threatening dare, she crossed his arms and looked up in thought, "Weeeeeeeeeeelll," he said, making sure to draw out the "e" in well long enough to think of his most embarrassing moment.
Olivia really wanted to roll her eyes at him, but she bloody couldn't! It was getting so darn frustrating!
"You could count the time Sirius pantsed me in the Great Hall as a prank back in second, or when Remus chased me around in the Great Hall with a fork in his hand back in third, or the time that declared my love for Lily during breakfast with a bowl of gravy on my head back in fourth, or perhaps that time that I nearly fell off a cliff because I flew over it and waa balancing in my broom with only one hand back in fifth, or maybe that one time I fell off my broom during a Quittch Match because I had been trying to impress Lily with a new trick back in sixth, or the time I had no bloody idea I was attracted to boys until the ministry made a new policy for sixth years and up had to go through a whole new sorting process for your soulmate. Which was actually this year surprisingly," James said brightly as everyone groaned.
Olivia so desperately wanted to roll her eyes at James, and it was practically physically painting her to not do so. She kept her eyes wide open and sent a glare over to Harley, who smirked, and then turned back to James.
"Well, er, I think that's good enough so... it's your turn," Olivia said shrugging, sneaking a glance towards Evan, who, maybe Olivia was just seeing things, looked like he felt sorry for her. She sighed, wanted to roll her eyes at herself, but shut her eyes instead, choosing to listen rather than be tempted to roll her eyes.
๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐'๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐:
Declan got pretty used to James asking a billion questions a minute at this point. It was pretty easy to tune out once it's been going at you non-stop for the last few days. If Declan was being honest, and not sarcastic (shocker, he knows), James actually kind of made sense, the whole point of this "cancelling classes'' thing was to get to know your soulmate, not mixing together random potion ingredients to see if you could make a brand new epic potion... and Declan totally wasn't doing that in the middle of the night, no way!
Delcan learned pretty early on that James was an Early Bird, he went to sleep fairly early (well, hours earlier than when Declan goes to sleep anyway) and woke up at Asscrack Dawn of the Day. When James slept, Declan usually made potions and just plotted how he was to deal with James the next day, or what the bloody hell he was going to tell his parents. He was surprised he hadn't gotten a howler by now, but there was obviously a worse punishment waiting for him when he went home for the fall break.
Declan decided that tonight he would answer all of James' stupid questions, at least the boy couldn't come up with any more than the billion he had asked Declan, right?
"Lacey, truth or dare?" James asked, grinning as he practically crawled over to Declan's little corner and planted his hands right in front of Declan, his knees behind him and his face way too close to Declan's. In all honestly, it reminded Declan of a stag, and, unfortunately in this situation, Delcan was a fucking doe.
Delcan blinked fast and pushed James away because, "Get out of my bloody space Potter, do you even know what personal space is?"
He answered James questions the tactical way, in other words, the way that wouldn't get makeup all over his face the way James' was, "Truth Potter," Declรกn replied, pushing James further away from him.
"Who do you love the most?" James asked grinning, obviously trying to get Declan's crush or something, but barely after James finished his question, Declan had his answer.
"My little sister," Delcan said rapidly, "I love my little sister the most in this world, heck, she is my world."
James blinked rapidly, his mouth wide open. Declรกn looked around and saw everyone else was in a state of shock as well, some people's mouths were wide open, some people were blinking rapidly while still trying to process the information given to them, some had their head coked to the side and their eyes squinted. The only people who weren't shocked were Remus, Lily, and Andie.
Delcan smiled at Andie, who shot one back, He and Andie were quite good friends, and Andie adored Declan's little sister, and the feeling was mutual. Whenever Andie saw Declan's little sister, she would always bring her dresses that may have not been the most expensive things money could buy (though they were still quite expensive because Andie wasn't going to let all of her family's money go to waste) but they were obviously hand-chosen for Declan's little sister, which made it even more valuable, or sometimes Andie would bring a doll or pretty jewellery, the bottom line was, Andie cared about Declan's little sister, therefore they were good friends.
Remus and Lily obviously knew about Delcan's little sister, Delcan rarely let anyone know about his personal life which was obvious seeing as everyone was shocked about him having a little sister, but since Remus and Lily were his best friends, they kind of have to know.
"I didn't know you had a little sister," James said, but it sounded more like a whisper to Delcan as he sat down in his bum away from Delcan, which made the latter breathe a sigh of relief.
"Oh wow, I totally didn't know you didn't know about my little sister that I've only told three people about, my turn," Declan said, then he got a brilliant, yet a mischievous idea. Delcan turned to everyone else and grinned, "Okay, so, this has been really fun and all, but I'm sure we've gotten a bit bored of this game, and some of us have things to talk over about," Delcan sent a warm smile over to Andie, who smiled gratefully back, it was obvious she wanted some alone time with Regulus, or, as Andie always calls him, "darling Reggie", "So I propose we do a group dare, me included."
Everyone seemed intrigued by the idea, even the ones who had no bloody idea who the hell Delcan was. Delcan cleared his throat and it only felt awkward to him, he wasn't exactly loving all the attention that was on him, and would much rather be in the shadows, but his dare would end the game, really the only plus about the attention (wait, nevermind, there aren't any pluses.)
"How about, we each wear the signature clothing piece, or something like that, of our soulmates, you know what that is I'm sure of it and then say one line impersonating them. After that, we have to wear the thing for the rest of the day, got it?" Delcan said, and when everyone agreed he smiled and waved everyone off. Everyone went to go do their own thing and Delcan was relieved to be back in the shadows again, in the background, his home turf so to speak.
Delcan turned to James and reached to pluck his glasses off, "Yeah. Not sorry about this, but I'm going to need these comically round glasses," Declan said, popping them on his face then wincing at how close everything looked, "Bloody Hell! You're eyes are horrid Potter," he mumbled under his breath.
"Yeah I know," James said, then looked over to Delcan, "What's your signature piece of clothing?" He asked.
"That... is a bloody good question," Delcan said, honestly hated all of his clothes, his parents were the ones who bought everything, and he hated it all. Everything was ridiculously expensive and was really a waste of money and fabric. But his little sister did give him a watch on his seventeenth birthday, she said she'd been saving up her allowance (which was a hell of a lot, even he got an allowance that was probably more than some people made in a month, heck, maybe a year) for. It was the only item of clothing that wasn't from his parents, and he loved it dearly and wouldn't take it off. It was waterproof for that was lovely, and it was his favourite colour: dark blue.
"Okay, I'm starting to regret this dare," Delcan mumbled, taking off his watch and handing it to James, "Here, but I'm warning you, Potter. If there's even a single scratch on that watch, I'm going to poison you in your sleep, which is extremely easy becuase you sleep with your mouth wide open most days, and you'll find out if Helheim really is as bad as Hel makes it out to be."
James nodded quickly and put the watch on, admiring it, well, he was squinting hard because he could barely see anything without his glasses (for the record, Delcan couldn't see shit either, the glasses just weren't his thing and James has horrible eyesight.)
Declan looked over to the few people still in the room who hadn't run up the staircase to get their Soulmate's signature piece of clothing.
Hel smirked as she made a motion for Sirius to hand over his beloved leather jacket. When he finally did hand it over, Hel snatched it up and put it on, she smiled at the obvious warmth of it and unclasped her necklace, the one her father gave her and handed it to Sirius.
Pandora had on Remus' favourite burgundy beanie hat he always wore, and Remus finally got his Gryffindor jumper back that had his last name embroidered in the back. It may have been Remus' once upon a time, but Pandora had stolen it way back in fifth year, and she was seen wearing it all the time, but nevertheless, Remus finally got his jumper back... for a little while.
Lily had on Elorie's purple leather jacket that Elorie wore often, and Elorie was wearing Lily's white doodled-on converse shoes. Apparently, from what Delcan heard from Lily, Lily has painted cute designs using neon markers, pens, and nail polish all over Sirius' combat boots so for "revenge '' Sirius doodled all over Lily's favourite pair of white converse, flower designs to be exact. Also, from Declan has heard from Lily's side, the two were mad at each other for ruining their favourite shoes for a bit, but now they loved the "messed up" foot apparel. This all happened in third year for the record.
Peter Pettigrew sat near Remus and Pandora, just twiddling his thumbs, he had no soulmate, so it wasn't like he could trade anything out. Delcan also noticed that the other person who didn't have a soulmate was nowhere to be seen, and he wondered where Maelyn was.
The first people down the stairs were Regulus and Miranda. Miranda had on Regulus' Slytherin Quidditch jacket (Declan loved Quittich and totally wasn't envious that Regulus was allowed to play, honestly, why wouldn't his parents let him play? A bloody Black could play! One of the sacred twenty-eight plays it and you call it a sport for the lowerclassmen?) and Regugkus had on a lovely diamond necklace, which honestly looked kind of nice on him, but that was the gay in Declan's brain taking.
Thalia and Rabastan came down with Rabastan wearing a jacket with the words, "I'm a Bookworm, What Are You?" On the back (Declan loves that jacket for the record, and it probably took that lots of convincing to make Lestrange wear that, Declan happily mused Over the argument in his head), and Thalia was wearing a long black robe.
Olivia and Evan came down with Olviva wearing a fancy black tuxedo coat (clearly looked modified to a wizards taste, probably cost a fortune as well) and Evan wearing a cream cashmere sweater (Delcan has to admit, he looked ridiculous and he relished the embarrassing moment for the filthy blood-supremacist).
Harley was wearing a short black robe that clearly didn't fit her, and Severus had on Harley's combat boots, which clearly didn't fit him.
Then came down Maelyn, and, Delcan has to admit, he was a little weirded out by her choice, but it was a good weirded out. Maelyn came down with a pizza box on her head and a pizza slice in her mouth. When everyone stared at her funny she just scrunched her eyebrows and glared.
"What? I got this from the house-elves after lunch, you all were too busy bickering to notice me," she said shrugging, adjusting the box so it would stay in her head easier as she plopped down to the floor, eating her pizza slice (which was actually two pizza slices that Declan saw she just didn't do the ripping apart bit) as she adjusted her legs so she was sitting cross-legged.
Declan was going to say something, but decided against it, "Everyone's here?" Declan asked, looking to everyone. The sudden attention to him practically made him shiver with discomfort, this would be enough attention for him for the next decade and a half, "So, we have so say a line, er," Declan looked to James who looked a lot closer since he was wearing James' glasses, Declan got a brilliant idea and made sure to make James sound as bloody stupid as possible when impersonating him:
"I'm James Pottah, and I didn't know that I like boys since I was far too busy trying to get Lily to love me!" Declan said, obviously mocking James. He puffed out his chest and made a face that made everyone laugh, "And I failed miserably!" he added, which caused everyone to chuckle. Next James went, and Declan was more than relieved to be out of the spotlight, he quickly went over to a spot and placed a Disillusionment spell on himself, just watching everyone as they did their thing.
"I'm Declan Lacey and I don't like to talk to people," James said, mocking Declan. Declan rolled his eyes at how stupid James sounded becuase he bloody well did not sound like that!
Next Hel went and she wrapped Sirius' leather jacket closer to her (it fit her almost perfectly, it was probably just a half-size or a size larger) and grinned brightly and closed her eyes. Hel's appearance shifted so that she looked like a boy, Declan was pretty surprised by this, but it made sense since Hel's father could shift between genders (and shapes, but hey, he wasn't going to judge).
"No, I'm Sirius, you're James," Hel said in a much deeper voice than her normal voice, as if she had even changed her voice to match what it would sound like if she were male, which Probably came along with the whole "daughter of the gender-shifting god" thing.
Everyone laughed at Hel's line, Delcan even let out the softest of chuckles because Sirius really did say that all the time and Delcan means: All. The. Time.
Sirius' mouth dropped when Hel changed though, sure her hair got shorter and seemed to shrink into her skull, and her face turned more angular, but Delcan thought the real kicker for Sirius was the voice. Now, it wasn't a secret that Sirius was about as straight as the letter "D", so the whole "Hel can turn into a boy" thing must've been quite exciting for him. Declan thought he sensed sexual tension right there and then.
"My turn!" Sirius said brightly, adjusting the gold locket on his neck, and proudly putting his chin up in the air, mocking what Hel did all the time, "I am Hel Lokidottir, Princess of Asgard, Rightful Queen of Helheim, Goddess of Death, and who do you think you are?" He said in a horrible Norwegian accent that made Hel (now back to being Hel) slapped him lightly on the arm.
Next Declan watched as Elorie straiten up, "I'm Lily Evans," she said in a sweet night mocking tone, which made Lily glare at Elorie, "And I think James Potter is an arrogant toe-rag!"
Declan had to physically stop himself from busting out laughing as James pouted and even Lily let out a small giggle. Elorie on the other hand seemed quite delighted to make everyone laugh.
Next, Remus sat up a bit straighter and adjusted his jumper with both hands, the sticking charm on him and Pandora wore off a few seconds before they set out to complete Declan's dare, and cleared his throat, "Would you like a cookie?" He asked in a dead-on impersonation if Pandora.
Declan grinned unnoticed as some people's eyes widened and people's jaws dropped at how perfect Remus sounded to Pandora. Seeing as Remus was a close friend of Declan's, Declan already knew about Remus' special skill that was doing an impersonation of someone. All Remus had to do was listen to the person talk for a few minutes before being able to replicate their voice dead-on, it was quite a lovely little skill for pranking as well, something Declan picked up on very early on.
"No! For the last time, I am not fucking Sirius! Or fucking serious! Either interpretation of it!" Pandora said in a mock-deep voice, which made Remus chuckled and wrapped an arm around his girlfriend, pressing a kiss to her head.
Sirius rolled his eyes at Remus because, sure, in their fourth year they had been dating (Declan hated the days where Remus gushed about how amazing Sirius was, sure, Delcan was happy his best friend found love, but, seriously? Sirius Black? Known hater of Declan's. Love you mate, but I'm not going to love your boyfriend) but after they broke up, people still assumed they were shagging.
Peter just sat there, twiddling his thumbs and Lily quickly aid something to let him keep most of his dignity, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so if you believe that you are beautiful, who can tell you otherwise?" Lily said in a falsetto voice, making what was a beautiful thing Elorie liked to say sound childish and funny. Everyone understood the quote and thought it was quite amusing, Lily on the other hand just shrugged and let the sleeve of Elorie's jacket fall to her elbow.
"I like Pizza," Maelyn said, her mouth full of her last bite of the slice of pizza she was eating.
"I'm loyal to my family, and that's that," Olivia said, impersonating Evan and pulling the coat much closer to her.
"Come on girls, we have places to be and people to snog," Regulus said in a higher-pitched voice, obviously trying to not offend Andie, but failing miserably.
"Rude!" Andie said, then smiled, "We've been practising for hours Zabini! Just give it a rest!" She said in a low voice, impersonating what Refuges sounded like after he practised Quidditch with the Slytherin team, something Declan was just a little envious of.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry, I don't care," Severus said, unsuccessfully trying to manoeuvre his feet around in Harley's large combat boots.
"Come on Lils, they're just jerks," Harley said the black robe falling off her shoulders.
"Why is the only guy I'm attracted to in this whole school, someone who doesn't even notice me?" Evan said, sending a wide clear look to Olviva, a look that clearly meant, "Can we talk?" And it was a look Declan did not use very often. He suspected a lovely conversation would be going on after this game in Olivia and Evan's room.
"I'm not my brother, see? I'm more powerful," Thalia said, mocking Rabastan about the time a couple of students kept on mistaking him for his older brother, Rudolphus, who was in his seventh year of Hogwarts when Rabastan was in his first.
"My book has more personality than you," Rabastan countered, using an insult Declan has heard Thalia say a lot around the old common room.
Declan looked around and saw that everyone had gone and was probably looking for him, he muttered the counterspell to the disillusionment spell he had on and cleared his throat, cashing the people closest to him to jump since they had no bloody idea he was there.
Declan just silently walked up to his and James' room, and behind him, he could hear the padding of feet as they walked to their respective spots.
Question for you guys: Do you prefer long chapters, or short(er, I can't help myself I love to write) chapters?
My answer: Well, I've always been a person who prefers nice long chapters, and I love writing them as well!
Question for your characters: Which creatures are they good at identifying? Which creatures are they good at defeating? Which creatures do they have no idea how to defeat?
Hel: Hel is good at identifying all dark creatures, Dragon breeds, Thestrals, Dementors (that's wicked easy though), Vampire bats, Werewolves and wolves, Grindylowes, Banshee, Pixies, Ghosts v.s. Ghouls, Imps, Kappas, those kinds of things. She's good at defeating the creatures that they know (the dark ones). It is extremely difficult and practically impossible for Hel to cast a Patronus, Patroni are just beings of happiness and light, the complete opposite of Hel's powers, up to this point of the story, she's only ever cast a Patronus once, and that was after a full class of trying and staying after class for a bit (and weeks of preparation).
