Chapter 11

Emily's POV

Two days later Michael and Luke showed up at school again, seemingly on worse terms than they were before. Instead of heartbrokenly ignoring each other they would constantly snap at the other in the hallways, hurling awful insults at each other often drawing the attention of a nearby adult. Calum and I never questioned Michael on where he went or why he disappeared off the face of the earth for two days we only comforted him when Luke's insults went to far.

Lunch was even worse for the two, apparently the populars had kicked Luke out of their group so now he permanently sat alone. Michael doesn't sit with him anymore and the populars decided that talking behind Luke's back and spreading rumors was a good idea. Luke sat silently and took the insults random people would throw at him which probably weren't true. He wouldn't buy food and he wouldn't even make an effort to look alive and that was what tore Michael apart. It seemed like Luke was just falling apart but afterwards Luke would just end up spitting insults at Michael when he passes by.

And Luke's place at the table had been taken up by the /wonderful/ Anaïs. She didn't even seem phased by the dirty looks others sent her, me included, when she snuggles up to Ashton and they acted all cutesy. Calum was always the receiver of my moaning about how much PDA the two showed.

"This is cringe worthy." I shuddered turning away from Ashnaïs(ship name). To put it simply, Ashton was shoving his tongue down the poor girls throat. One of his hands was placed firmly on her back while the other was slowly creeping towards her chest. Their open mouthed make out session was left for the whole senior student body to see, and boy was everyone looking. Even Calum seemed bothered, and he was always indifferent about the two.

"Usually I'm annoyed by your complaining," Michael chuckled, "but this is disgusting." The three of us turned to look at each other before simultaneously sighing.

"High school." We groaned, laughing afterwards. Glancing at the clock across from me I pushed my tray towards Calum and stood up.

"I should start heading to Art, Ms.Teresa is going to flip shit if I'm late again." I announced slinging my backpack that was filled with art supplies across my shoulder. Michael sniggered at me but quickly shut up when I sent him a dirty look. I leaned down and gave Calum's cheek a quick kiss before heading towards the cafeteria doors. Humming to 'Daniel in the den' by Bastille I turned and walked through the nearly empty hallway.

"Emily, hold up." Anaïs was speedily walking towards me with a smile on her face, her cheeks rising in the cutest way. "Sorry, it's just that Ms.Teresa has been on both of our cases lately and I thought we should walk together."

"Sure thing." I chirped and walked with Anaïs to the art room. Ms.Teresa was already in the room when we arrived and gave the two of us a look of approval seeing as how we were here early.

Soon class got started quickly as other students started filing through the door. Ms.Teresa told us we were doing partner painting and quickly assigned us partners. I got paired with Anaïs, oddly enough, and the two of us quickly got to work.

"So how are you and Ashton?" I asked as I grabbed my supplies from my bag as she did the same. She sucked air through her teeth and placed a paintbrush on the table and looked up at me. She glanced around and I looked with her and saw that the rest of the class was busily chatting as they painted away.

"To be honest this isn't what I was expecting." She sighed leaning down to grab her set of paints.

"Really, how so?" I questioned intrigued by her statement. She didn't respond for a beat as she seemingly contemplated my question.

"He turns everything physical," she confessed, "sometimes I just want to have a sit down and chat but it always turns into a make out session." I finally looked up at Anaïs to see she was already looking at me. I was surprised because she honestly seemed fine with all the over obsessive kissing that I've witnessed but by the tone of her voice, I could tell that wasn't the case.

"Oh." I said dumbly. "I'm sorry about that." I added grabbing my red and dark brown paints, wanting to start with her hair.

"No, it's fine, how are you and...Column?" She said her voice rising into a question. I giggle erupted from my lips before I could stop it.

"Calum, and we're going great actually." Anaïs' face tinted red in embarrassment before her face turned cold.

"Elaborate." She demanded and I looked in confusion because this was a side of her I haven't ever seen.

"He's really sweet, and we just went on a cute 2 month anniversary date. We star gazed and had a cute picnic with those adorable tiny finger sanwhiches....." I gushed but was cut off by Anaïs huffing in annoyance.

"I really don't want to hear about your stupid perfect relationship." She grumbled fiddling with her silver locket. Anger flared in me and I internally groaned, my bitchy side was coming out.

"Can I paint you?" I asked in an overly sweet voice. Anaïs seemed confused but before she responded I had grabbed my tube of red paint, opened it, and squeezed it all over her unsuspecting face. She squealed and swiped some paint from where her eyes were and growled at me.

"Bitch, you didn't?" She yelled and slammed her hands on the desk. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, giving her a 'try me' look. She reached over and grabbed my brown paint and poured the whole can over my head. I gasped as it dripped down my long hair, staining it brown.

Without thinking I lunged towards Anaïs and tackled her to the floor, both of us hitting the ground with a loud thud. Obvious gasps, cheers, and yells resounded around us as Anaïs and I wrestled on the ground, spreading paint everywhere. I threw my hand towards her head and covered them in paint and rubbed it everywhere I could. She growled and flipped us and did the same, not hesitating to completely cover my face in paint. Between the clawing, slapping, and spitting insults at each other neither of us heard Ms.Teresa's yelling at us to stop. Not until we were forcefully pulled away from each other. I looked up, which sent a wave of paint flying, and saw the angry face of our vice principal holding my shoulders. Looked forward and saw Anaïs being held by our principal with an equally angry face.

"Crazy bitch!" Anaïs yelled squirming to get her hands on me again.

"Right back to you sister." I grumbled when our principal gave the two of us harsh looks.
