Chapter 2. Mystery Discovered

He took her to a castle. They were nearing the gates as another boy ran out of the castle looking more frustrated than ever. He gave his sword to a man dressed in suit of armor standing behind him and started scolding the young man who saved Angelina's life.  All this time she was distracted by the sights she was seeing. Knights, castles, talking horses, and a market. Traveling in time was impossible, but Angelina just proved otherwise. Figuring that she was in medieval times she didn't know how to talk to all these people, nor did she want to. The more she learned about the middle ages in school the scarier they seemed to her. All she wanted to do was to go home.

"Edmund! How could you go out on a day like this! You know Narnia is in a middle of a war, what were you thinking?" The boy who looked older than Edmund said, "Who is this?" He added while pointing at Angelina who was still on the horse.

"I found her in the field, some trolls tried to kill her," The boy named Edmund spoke up. She could tell from the tone in his voice that Edmund was not too happy from the scolding he was getting. Whoever these two men were, knights, Angelina wanted to get away from them.

"You idiot! You are not supposed to go out into the field," The other boy screamed, looking very concerned.

"Don't tell me what to do, Peter. You are not father," Edmund spat out and went into the castle. The blonde grabbed Edmund's arm, but the young man just yanked it away. He didn't turn around and dropped his belt to the floor, his sword which was hanging on it, fell down with it. One of the knights standing near the gates ran up to the belt he dropped and picked it up, carrying it in after him, making sure he carried the sword at a distance from him. From what she observed, Edmund was quite important.

"I am so sorry for that. My brother has a temper," The golden haired boy turned to Angelina. "What is your name, and how did you get here?"

"Angelina. He doesn't seem like a jolly good soul." She looked at the golden haired boy, waiting for him to explain something, but he was silent, but she did get a smirk out of him from her comment on Edmund. "Where am I?" She finally asked, getting off the horse that, unlike during their brief meeting, stayed silent.

"Why, you're in Narnia," The blonde said, and stretched out his hand for her to take. She hesitated, but his warm smile made her trust him.

"Narnia, I've never heard of a place called Narnia from any history book-" She looked at the castle walls that surrounded her, and noticed how the gates were instantly shut by the guards. Her only way out was closed. She would have to find another way out.

Angelina didn't get to finish her exploration with her eyes as Peter steered her towards the castle in front of them. "You would not find Narnia in any history book, it is a special place, and where you are currently is Cair Paravel, my jurisdiction." It would be even harder to find her way out if she goes into the castle, so she hesitated again and stopped him.

"I want to go home," Angelina said to him and wouldn't budge. She didn't know what he was capable of yet, or how he would act upon her resistance.

"I'm sorry, but you can't," Peter grabbed her hand, before he lead her to the castle again he turned to face her and did a small bow with his head, "I am King Peter, the high king of Narnia, and I am charmed to meet you at this very dire time."

"As much as I am also charmed to meet you I will have to ask why I cannot leave, I came here somehow, I can get out," Angelina turned around and started walking back to where she came from, it was worth the risk and he seemed sensible enough.

"Only Aslan can send you back," Peter caught up with her, trying to talk her into staying.

"Alright, where is he?" Angelina didn't stop walking.

"Aslan comes and goes as he pleases. He is not a tame lion." Peter stepped in front of her, blocking her from the gates.

"I'm sorry, did you just say lion?" Peter's words finally made her stop walking and look up at him.

"Yes, lion," the golden haired boy said with a mysterious smile on his face, as if he knew something far greater than being thrown back in time by a magical underground station.

"That is not possible, and this is where I draw the line. It was fun listening to all of you, but I really must wake up now." Angelina was more speaking to herself than Peter.

"Look let me just show you your room for now, and we can talk this over?" Angelina nodded she noticed how he would not back down, but as Peter turned around she ran for her life managing to slip through the crowd into the castle and around its maze-like walls. The stone halls were a puzzle and every corner she took lead her to either safety or being caught by one of the royal guards.

She ran until she was sure they lost track of her. The sound of guards with their swords out scared her. Not knowing if they thought she was a threat, Angelina decided to not take her chances and let them catch her. Turning the corner she bumped into the familiar chest of the sulky boy with dark brown hair who had saved her life. His hands tightened around her arms, and he pulled her back.

"You," Angelina shoved her shoulder out of his grip, "excuse me," she tried to get past him, but he only blocked her way with his body, leaning onto the side of the wall.

Edmund smirked, "are you trying to run away from my brother? Bad idea, trust me, I've tried."

She rolled her eyes and tried to get past him again, but he still wouldn't let her, "your brother is some piece of work. Not that it is any of your business, but I have to get back home in time for dinner."

He moved out of her way and let her go, "time in the real world stops whenever you enter Narnia, so you need not to rush."

This made her stop in her tracks. He clearly knew a lot more about this place than she did, but the fact that he called her world the real world indicated that he knew something about it. Nothing made sense to her and all she wanted to do was run away, but this time it wouldn't solve the problem that was in front of her. She was lost in a world that was completely different from her own. Slowly making her way back to Edmund she crossed her arms in front of her chest. He pushed himself off the wall and looked straight at her, his eyes held the answers she so desperately wanted to know.

"What is this place?" She sighed, giving up the confidence she had about running away, "and don't give me some prince charming answer that isn't an answer and just follows up with more questions."

Edmund nodded, "tell you what, you tell me how you got here and I'll explain everything to you," Edmund looked into the opposite direction and then abruptly turned back to her, "and I am no prince charming, I am a king." His confident self pleased smile made her roll her eyes in disappointment.

She heard the clinking of swords and metal again and started to back away. Peter appeared behind Edmund with his guards, and the brown haired young man rolled his eyes too. He turned to his brother who looked at Angelina with frustration from her disappearance.

"Ah, I see you found the little bird that tried to fly away." Peter joked, motioning the guards to put down their swords.

"I can be persuasive," Edmund answered without emotion, "the lady decided to stay." He looked at Angelina to confirm his words.

She looked around, she wanted to find out more about this place, especially how to get out of it. Knowing that Edmund was her only chance at finding out what exactly was going on, and also knowing that there might be a possibility of this still being a dream, she complied. Walking up closer to them she nodded her head.

"Very well, if you would be so kind as to follow me to the throne room me and my brother will try to explain as much as possible and figure out how you tie into all of this," Peter motioned her to walk next to him. Leaving Edmund's side she followed Peter.

They walked through enormous golden doors which lead to a room with five thrones next to each other in a row. The room was big, able to hold a couple of thousand people in it. The walls were very tall too, although small spaces scared her, this large room scared her even more. It was strange to think of such a big place being bare in silence.

There was a table on the side of the wall, it had a huge map on it and a couple of chairs. Peter offered her one of the seats and the two kings sat next to her. Edmund was not engaged in the conversation that Peter was starting, instead he grabbed one of the books off the table and started to scroll through the pages.

"First, how did you get here?" Peter asked. Edmund shook his head with a smirk on his face, as if he heard his brother do this before and it all ended in failure. Her dreams definitely gave each of these men very clear personalities, she thought.

Angelina grabbed the sides of her chair, "well, I was standing on the platform of a subway station, and then all of a sudden everything started to disappear and I ended up on this beach." She tried to make sense of it all.

"Right, what was the name of that station?" Peter asked, and Angelina was surprised that he knew what a metro was.

She shook her head, "I don't remember! And it's not important, what even happened to me!?"

Edmund rolled his eyes, "you're in a magical land where nothing makes sense!"

Peter looked at him, "Ed, that's not helping! I am trying my best to understand how you got here and why, nothing in Narnia happens by accident. Someone must have called you, or something must have happened for you to come here. There is always Aslan's will for everything, but I need to know more about you to understand."

Putting the book down, Edmund cleared his throat, "we weren't special when we got to Narnia, she doesn't have to be either. Whoever she is, she's pretty strange to us too, I mean look at the clothes she's wearing!"

Peter took a look at Angelina and sighed, "I don't know Edmund, things like this don't happen. When the Telmarine's and the lords came to Narnia through the caves it was for a purpose."

Angelina caught the word cave," wait, I came through a cave to this land! Maybe if I go back-"

"It's useless, trust me, the cave only opens to Narnia, without Aslan it doesn't open to our world," Edmund interrupted her. It was strange of him to say our world as if he belonged to her world and not this one.

"Where are you from?" Peter suddenly asked.

Angelina looked at the two curious boys, they were probably as curious about her as she was about them, "London."

"What year," he added. When she said 2016 he put the pen he was writing with down. "You're from the future?"

She knitted her eyebrows in confusion, "yes, I guess."

Peter looked at Edmund who was already looking at him. They both shook their heads and Edmund squinted his eyes a bit at her. He remembered something that was essential to this strange discovery of a mysterious girl in the middle of Narnia. As Peter continued to question her, the nobles joined them and Edmund excused himself.

Some of the nobles offered to imprison Angelina, fearing that perhaps she was sent by the evil army to corrupt them from the inside. However, Peter did not feel right imprisoning someone who claimed to be innocent. The nobles didn't like her straight away, mostly because she talked back to them and the High King of Narnia, but to him she was a breath of fresh air. He called his sisters to ease her into the new life she was about to begin living in Cair Paravel and introduce her to all the things that life presented.

The two Pevensie sisters seemed pleasant, especially Lucy who was Angelina's age. They showed her the room she would stay in and tried to explain about medieval clothing. "This will be fun, I haven't talked to a girl from my world in such a long time!" Lucy exclaimed as she pulled out a couple of dresses from the closet. Angelina's head was already spinning from being overwhelmed.

In the library, Edmund was throwing out book after book from the shelves until he got to the one he was looking for. He opened the pages he remembered scrolling through about a year ago. There she was, pictured on the page, her strange clothes and him on a horse saving her from the trolls. Edmund thought it was a familiar scenario, but he brushed it off as deja vu. This time, he knew exactly who she was and what she was here for.

A/N: I was not satisfied with the plot before, their romance was too rushed and action in general was too rushed, so I decided to start adding to the plot and changing it a bit. I hope y'all aren't too disappointed and mad because of this, I really just want to make a good story out of it.
