When the group finally got to the foster home Danny went to his room, he looked out the window and didn't see anyone. He still felt like he was being watched, like someone was out there that was just out of sight and he didn't like it. He changed into normal clothes and Toxin spoke, 'Who could be watching you?'

"Not sure, there are a lot of suspects but it could be a stranger too, and they might not be watching me specifically."

'Whether they are or not I do not like it, what should we do?'

"Keep an eye out for now, we can't risk them hurting any of the others, especially with more people around."

'Fine, but I do not like this.'

Danny agreed with him but he couldn't do much if he wasn't even sure he was being followed, he needed to be careful. Twenty minutes later he heard Mary downstairs, she just came home with Emma and Liam. He heard John a few minutes later and he kept glancing out the window, Toxin decided to fix his headache because it was getting worse.

It didn't help his mood at all though, he could deal with a headache but he couldn't do much against this possible stalker. Another ten minutes passed before Mary called him down, he didn't want to go but they'd ask questions if he didn't. He went downstairs and Mary made snacks, both for the twins and for the ones currently sleeping over.

Danny didn't know why she called him down until Isabella saw him and smiled, "You should come join us Danny."

Danny got a bit irritated considering he didn't want any part in this, he had a better vantage upstairs but that was on the side of the house. He could see the front better if he looked out the window in the living room, he didn't get to decide before she pulled him into the living room. He snatched his arm away, "Do that again and you won't like what happens."

Isabella didn't seem to believe him but she should have, he sat on the couch since it was next to the window. Richard sat next to him, "Are you okay?"

"Are you seriously going to ask me that?"

Richard wasn't sure how to respond, he knew Danny had been irritated all day but every since they walked to the house something seemed to be bothering him. They all decided to watch a movie and Danny didn't seem to be paying attention to it, he kept looking out the window. When the movie was over it was almost time for dinner so they all got up and a few minutes later they started eating.

Danny sat in silence as he ate and Toxin spoke, 'They are still out there, I do not like this.'

If Danny could talk to him he'd agree, he didn't know who they were or what they wanted but he wasn't going to let them hurt anyone. When they were done eating they went back into the living room and Danny stood near the window. He swore he saw a dark shadow when he walked over to the window so he kept watching outside.

Isabella and Lucas were trying to think of something to do and Artemis and Barbara tried to help them but Richard kept glancing at Danny. Lucas looked at Danny, "Hey Danny, want to help us decide on what to do?"

"No."

Artemis looked at him, "What's got you in a bad mood this time?"

"Do I really need to remind you that I didn't want any part in this, I'd rather be anywhere else."

Barbara spoke, "But you're still here."

"I hadn't planned on it."

They were all silent for a few seconds before Isabella looked at him, "Danny, I know you haven't had good luck with foster homes. Your family might not have been very good either but we get it," She sighed, "The twins parents were put in jail and they were taken. Lucas's mom died and his dad drank and neglected him, my parents did drugs, a lot, they never hurt me but I was scared that they would, so we get it."

Danny glared at her and walked away from the window, "No, you don't, those people aren't my family, they never were. They didn't do drugs or drink, they knew exactly what they were doing, they just didn't give a shit. It's not like they couldn't, I had an older sister, she never acted like she was but they loved her, they just never wanted me."

They stared at him in shock and he was just barely able to stop himself from punching something. Then they heard a knock on the door and Danny took the chance to get out of the room, Toxin spoke, 'I do not see how this can get worse.'

Danny silently agreed and opened the door, as soon as he did there was a gunshot and Danny felt pain in his right shoulder. He immediately kicked the person's arm to the side and he recognized them, now he knew how this could get worse. Mary came down the stairs, John looked out of the kitchen, and the others ran to the door of the living room.

Danny glared at them, "Everyone back into your rooms, Mary keep the twins upstairs."

Mary looked shocked, "Danny-."

"This is not up for debate, go!"

She took one look at his face and did as he said, the others did too and the man pushed his way into the house while pushing Danny onto the floor and closed the door. Danny kicked him in the stomach and he hit the door, Danny quickly got up and the man pointed his gun at Danny. He grabbed his wrist and hit his arm on the wall to make him let go of the gun.

When he dropped the gun Danny threw the guy over his shoulder, he got ready for the man to try and get up again. He soon realized that the guy hit the ground hard enough that he blacked out which meant he had to hurry. Richard looked out of the living room and the others cautiously did the same, Danny looked at the kitchen, "John."

John looked out the door and stared at the man, "How did you-?"

"Later, I need something to restrain this guy, zip ties, duct tape, I don't care."

John just nodded and went back into the kitchen, Lucas looked absolutely terrified and Isabella was hugging him. Barbara looked at Danny, "What happened?"

"I opened the door and he shot me, I'm not surprised either."

John came back with a roll of duct tape and Danny took it from him, he taped the guy's hands behind him and taped his feet. He moved the guy next to the door and Mary walked down a few of the stairs, her eyes widened, "Danny, you're hurt."

He looked irritated, "Really, I thought having a bullet in my shoulder was a good thing." Danny took out his phone, "Someone watch this guy, I've got to dig this thing out of my shoulder."

Danny dialed a number and walked up the stairs as it rang, he closed the door right as someone picked up. "9-1-1 what's your emergency?"

"Hey, a guy just forced himself through the front door and attacked me."

"I'll send two police cars and an ambulance right away, what's your address?"

"You don't need to send an ambulance everyone's fine, the guy's knocked out but he'll be fine."

The woman on the other end was silent for a second, "What's your address?"

He told her the address and she told him that the police would be there soon, he hung up and started taking care of his shoulder. Toxin spoke, 'I can heal your shoulder.'

"You can't right now, if the others find out that my shoulder is already healed after just getting shot they'll ask questions."

Toxin growled a little, 'Fine, but I do not like it.'

Danny just sighed and pulled out the medical kit, he dug the bullet out of his shoulder with some medical tweezers and set it on the counter. He stitched up the wound and bandaged it before quickly cleaning the blood and washing the blood off the bullet. He found a small clear bag to put it in and he used the tweezers to do all of it, then he walked out of the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Richard waited for Danny to come back when the man started to wake up and he'd managed to get the tape off his mouth without anyone noticing. He laughed, "So this is where he ended up."

Everyone looked at him and Artemis glared at him, "Where who ended up?"

"Danny of course, I heard he left Gotham after we were shut down but it looks like he came back."

Isabella looked confused, "Who was shut down?"

"The orphanage, he got there and we knew who he was as soon as we saw him."

Barbara gave him a suspicious look, "Who he was?"

"The one who would suffer for humanity, others were used of course but he survived longer, no matter what we did he was so brave. That's how we knew he was the one, he suffers and feels pain to repent for everyone's sins."

John actually looked mad, none of them had ever seen him mad, "You hurt an innocent kid for that, because you thought it would make up for the bad things other people do?"

The man shrugged, "It was him or the rest of the world, and he's certainly not worth anyone else's life."

Richard was pissed, this guy was with the orphanage that hurt Danny and this was their reason, some twisted religious viewpoint? He was about to walk over and hit the guy when someone spoke, "You talk way too damn much."

They all looked and Danny was walking over, the man laughed a little, "I remember that will of yours, even when you were nearly dead you kept fighting."

Danny didn't react, he didn't look angry or afraid, it was like he didn't care, "Will had nothing to do with it, that was spite."

John gave Danny a worried look, "Are you okay Danny?"

"It's a bullet wound, I'm fine, and the police are on their way to grab this guy."

He gestured to the man and they could hear sirens in the distance, Danny grabbed the duct tape and covered the guy's mouth again. The police got there a little over a minute later and Commissioner Gordon ran in with two officers behind him. He looked around and saw Barbara, then he saw the man and looked at all of them, "Who's the one that called?"

Danny spoke, "That would be me."

Gordon nodded and had the two officers take the man out and asked Danny to go outside so he could ask him a few questions. Danny just walked outside and Barbara hugged her dad, Gordon looked at her, "Are you okay?"

Barbara nodded, "Danny got hurt but everyone else is fine."

Gordon looked confused, "I was told no one was hurt."

Artemis crossed her arms, "Of course he said that."

Barbara looked back at her dad, "Please make sure he's okay."

Gordon smiled, "Don't worry, all of you just stay here."

They all nodded and Gordon walked outside, Mary then came down with the twins who were both crying. She looked at John, "What happened?"

"Danny tied the guy up and called the police, I'll tell you everything later okay?"

She nodded and tried to calm the twins down, while she did Danny was outside and he watched as the man was put in the police car and taken away. Gordon walked up to him, "So, what happened?"

Danny sighed, "Earlier today I felt like someone was watching me so I watched through the windows but didn't see anyone. After dinner there was a knock on the door so I answered it and as soon as I opened the door he shot me. I told the others to stay out of the hallway and I disarmed him and knocked him out, then I called 9-1-1."

Gordon wrote down everything he said, "Dispatch said no one was hurt, that's why they didn't send an ambulance."

Danny shrugged, "I was the only one hurt and I don't like doctors, I already took care of it anyway." Danny took something out of his pocket and handed it to Gordon, it was a bullet in a small baggie. "I dug that out of my shoulder, the gun is in the hallway by the door."

Gordon looked at the bullet, "Why do you think he attacked you?"

"I think you'll figure it out once you look him up, you were there when the orphanage was searched."

Gordon thought for a second, he'd only ever been part of one investigation into an orphanage so far. His eyes widened, "He was one of them?"

Danny nodded, "And I'm the kid that ran away, it was the only way I could think of to get the police there. I knew they'd probably find what was in the basement once they searched the place, I'm glad they got shut down."

Gordon was quiet for a second, "How did you know I was part of the investigation?"

"I was there, I hid outside to make sure the police busted them, I saw you walk in before I actually left."

Gordon slowly nodded, "You're one brave kid you know, taking that guy on alone was pretty brave, and living through all of that probably wasn't easy."

Danny shook his head, "I'm not brave Gordon, just a little reckless, plus I wasn't going to let them hurt anyone else, don't tell anyone I said that."

Gordon looked confused, "Why?"

"Because then they might actually think I'm a good person, your daughter and her friends won't leave me alone." Gordon stared at him and Danny messed up his hair, "If that's all I'm going to bed, I think my adrenaline's starting to crash."

Danny went inside and didn't talk to anyone as he walked up the stairs and went to his room. He closed the door and Toxin spoke, 'Can I heal your shoulder now?'

Danny sighed, "Sure, I'll just make sure I cover it up, it's not like I react to pain anyway."

Toxin healed Danny's shoulder and he took the bandages off before laying down and closing his eyes to sleep, he was tired. Meanwhile, Gordon walked back into the house to get the gun and after he picked it up Barbara looked at him as the others walked away so they could talk. Gordon looked at his daughter, "I can take you home if you don't want to stay anymore."

Barbara shook her head, "I'm worried about Danny, he's a friend."

Gordon smiled a little and put a hand on her shoulder, "Keep an eye on him, he seems pretty stubborn."

Barbara smiled and nodded before hugging her dad, after that Gordon left and everyone was left to wonder if Danny was okay. Richard couldn't stop thinking about what the man said, they hurt Danny and yet he didn't seem to care. The man actually looked proud of himself when he talked about it which made him think he'd actually hurt him, he just hoped Danny was okay.
