Insulting or insulted

It could be handy to know when people are insulting you, or what to say back. Dutch is a very handy language for that because it doesn't get spoken out of Holland. Ofcorse it will always be nice to know some words to shout when your angry while none knows what you mean.

Many words like, Fuck, shit, damn it and others are taken over by other countries like mine and get used in our language too like it is part of Dutch language. So let me return the favor for who speaks English.

What I mainly use myself is mostly English but that doesn't mean I don't know them in Dutch. Take Fuck for an example.

For Fuck we have;

--------------------

Kut

--------------------

Pronounced;

---------------------

K u t

---------------------

It sounds a bit like how English sounds when you say; cut.

Well for shit we don't really have a translation which sometimes occures because we actually use the word shit. If I would translate it anyway we would have to go yell poo around and that just sounds immensely stupid XD. But I will translate it anyway.

Shit would become;

-------------------

Poep

-------------------

Pronounced;

--------------------

P oe p

--------------------

Again I don't think the oe exists in English but it sounds rather the same how oo get's said so just try that. And god I feel like a five year old translating this word XD.

One to the next which is;

Damn it.

This time our word is yet again longer then in English. We seem to like that for some reason. Like we want to brag with our hard to pronounce and long words or something XD. Anyway, that turns out into;

---------------------

Verdomme.

---------------------

Pronounced;

---------------------

Vurd o mmu

---------------------

It is kind of a hard one to explain but the E's kinda fall away when said and they start to sound more like U's. The easy thing is that when you want to say; God damn it, you only have to stick 'God' bevore it. It is written the same only pronounced differently. The O will be more spoken and the G very clearly.

Just one more I myself can't stop laughing over when I hear my brother rage over something and yell that thanks to me.

Nincompoop.  XD.

We have a shorter word for that for once. Mostly the English language makes words shorter then ours and easier to pronounce too mostly I have to say XD. But for a rare once we have it shorter.

In Dutch it turns into;

--------------------------

Sukkel or Stomkop.

--------------------------

Which literally translated means;

--------------------------

Stom      kop.  (two words made to one.)

Stupid    head.

--------------------------

Sukkel is for as far as I know not used in English anyway but it kinda has the same meaning. Well not if you count Nincompoop too XD.

What I myself would recommend to keep in mind when people annoy you is;

---------------------

Donder op.

---------------------

Pronounced;

---------------------

D o ndur   o p

---------------------

Which means;

Fuck off, but a little more polite. Just a little. Donder is also the word for Thunder. Op practically means on. But of you would translate on to Dutch again it would be aan which in his turn just sounds weird together with donder. So just leave it at donder op instead of donder aan. Sounds like you will flip a switch to put the thunder on XD.

Another phrase I just have to say before we stop is; when you drop from the stairs your down fast. In English it sounds weird. In Dutch it makes a little more sense. Especially because it is pure Amsterdam’s to say. (For as far as I can remember. Might be wrong but don't think so.)

It sounds like this in Dutch;

---------------------------------

Als je van de trap af valt dan ben je snel beneden.

---------------------------------

Literally translated meaning;

--------------------------------------

Als   je   van   de    trap     af    valt,

If   you   of    the   stairs   off    fall,

Ben   je      snel    beneden.

Are  you   fast    downstairs.

--------------------------------------

It is used in a sentence though.

Example;

-------------------

"Why?"  "Just because."  "Because is not a reason. If you drop from the stairs your down fast."

-------------------

In English it doesn't rime which is the whole point in Dutch. Here, this is the same sentence in Dutch.

------------------

"Waarom?"  "Daarom."  "Daarom is geen rede. Als je van de trap af valt dan ben je snel beneden."

------------------

Okay, so I stashed your heads with useless Dutch things. You can call your teacher a sukkel or a stomkop and when your siblings annoy you you just yell "Donder op!". Nice to have learned you guys a little more Dutch.

Fijne dag verder!

Have a nice day!
