What? Naaah! Not at all... writing is like pening down what you feel about a particular situation or sth. Just a good comand over the language and expressions is all you need.

Is there even any extent? Acc to me if you like someones work, apriciate it as you feel and critisice it in a way it becomes a helpful suggesting for the other one that motivates him to write
