Lean On

Keith listened to Lance hum an upbeat tune as they rested on Lance's bed. Keith propped himself up on the pillows Lance stole with Lance laying between his legs, resting his messy head on Keith's chest.

"Learning Altean actually wasn't that hard when I tried." Lance mused, sliding his finger over the Altean tablet to read the next page.

"I should probably learn, then." Keith ran his fingers through Lance's hair. "This mess is getting pretty long. In a while, you'll have the same mullet I have."

Lance shrugged. "That'll take a couple months, babe, but I'm thinking I like it like this."

Keith huffed. "Did you cut it at all the four months I was gone?"

"Yes!" Lance tilted his head back to look up at Keith. "It was getting in my eyes so just before that one battle, I had Pidge cut it!"

Keith raised a brow. "And she didn't stab you with the scissors?"

Lance snorted and shifted to look back at the tablet. "She offered. She was bored and had nothing else to do and I was whining."

"So she basically wanted you to shut up."

"Yeah. Basically." Lance shrugged, then returned his focus to the Altean book. "I can't tell if this is a history book or if it's fiction." He muttered and Keith rolled his eyes. "Oh, these two remind me of Pidge and Shiro. She is totally in love with the knight, but the knight doesn't exactly love her, so she tries to avoid him, but can't and this... Event, I'm not sure how to describe it other than event, but it happens and now she's practically locking herself away. Cannot wait for the end. So much drama. I love it."

"Of course you do." Keith sighed softly, toying with Lance's hair. "I could practically braid this."

"Really? You braid?"

"Not at all." Keith smiled slightly, pulling Lance's hair back. "I am worried about Pidge. She's completely avoiding Shiro, and by avoiding him, avoiding us."

The blue paladin sighed and set the tablet down. "Yeah... She's locked herself in her lab and her room. She's never anywhere else and she won't talk to anyone."

Keith leaned down and rested his forehead on top of Lance's head. "I'm going to try to talk to her again later. Pidge really needs to at least talk, even if I'm not really good at that kind of thing."

Lance hummed, taking Keith's hand. "I think you may have gotten better after four months of just talking to Pidge. She probably ranted and complained all the time."

"Yeah." Keith breathed in deeply. He hummed, lightly squeezing Lance's hand. "She did. I've gotten better at listening, I suppose, but still not so much comforting. I'm still getting used to this." He raised their linked hands. "I like it, it's just so strange and different from what I'm used to."

Lance chuckled and kissed Keith's hand. "At least you're trying, babe. I'll come with you to talk to Pidge. She really needs everyone." Keith nodded, closing his eyes. Both paladins sat in silence for a moment, reveling in each other's warmth.

That is, until Lance reached up with his free hand and tugged on Keith's fluffy ear.

"Hey!" Keith jerked his head back and pulled his hand away, then shoved a wheezing Lance off the bed. "My ears are sensitive, stupid!" Keith shouted, covering his ears.

Lance cradled his stomach as he laughed and rolled on the floor, not bothering to acknowledge hearing Keith.

Keith stepped into the Green Lion's hangar, Lance behind him. They immediately spotted Pidge sitting on her lab table, completely surrounded in her works and tangled in wiring. She looked like she was nearly finished with Rover 2.0.

"Pidge?"

The small paladin jumped and gasped, dropping her tools. Pidge whipped her head around to face her visitors. "I thought I locked the door!" She set down her Rover 2.0 and scrambled out of her nest. "How'd you get in!?"

Lance stepped forward to catch her before she tripped and fell off the table. "You left it unlocked. You've been in here for hours."

Pidge huffed and crossed her arms, stepping away from her fellow paladins. "Okay? So?"

Keith stepped forward, reaching his hand out to her. "You can't lock yourself away. You don't even talk to your father or your brother. We're all worried about you, and with you acting like this, we won't be able to form Voltron." Pidge only shrugged, glaring at them. Keith then sighed. "Okay, I realize this is my fault. I shouldn't have said that in front of Thace with how similar him and I are in the oblivious, blunt department." Pidge nodded firmly. "I shouldn't have said anything to make Shiro curious, I shouldn't have brought it up. I realize- ah! Shit, Lance what did I do!?"

Pidge's eyes watered and she sniffled, her arms unfolding to raise her hands over her mouth as she sobbed softly.

Lance reached over and took the little paladin into his arms. "Nothing, Keith. You did nothing wrong." Lance rubbed Pidge's back as she leaned into his chest, trying to muffle already soft sobs and attempting to hide her tears. "It's okay, Pidge. Let's go sit, hmm?"

All three paladins sat in the green paladin's room, blankets wrapped around their shoulders. Pidge was set between Keith and Lance and leaned on Lance's shoulder.

"I'm just... I feel like I'd drop dead if I so much as heard Shiro nearby." She muttered, fiddling with the edge of the blanket. "I really... I'm really scared. It's not so much that he was told what I said over a fucking month ago, it's that I really... I'm scared of him knowing that I'm in love with him because..."

Keith nodded. "Because he loves Allura."

Pidge nodded, sniffling. "Yeah. I mean, he's never said he loves her, but how he looks at her and he's always talking to her..."

Lance gently squeezed her shoulders as she trailed. "I know. Just, you don't need to lock all of us out. It's only been two days, but I miss playing with you. Hunk also misses cooking with you."

The green paladin laughed softly.

Keith leaned over and nudged her with his elbow. "I have to admit that I've missed you ranting in my ear. It was the best part of my day everyday those four months, and now it's strange without it."

Pidge grinned up at him. "It was fun ranting off, even though I was lightheaded sometimes after ranting."

"That's because you pack as many words as possible on one breath, plus some." Lance teased, tossing his other arm around her to tightly squeeze her. Pidge squeaked and groaned, but didn't push him away. "You need to chill out with your rants."

Pidge snorted. "Yeah, yeah, and you need to let me go or I won't be able to fix your eye."

Both Lance and Keith froze. Pidge pulled back and grinned. "I started a new project yesterday and I'm already almost done with it. You might be able to fully see again, and it'll be better than ever before."
