2: Running and hiding is actually in my nature
It had nearly been three weeks, for Joseph, training on Air Supplena Island with his Master Lisa Lisa, her servant Suzie Q, two trainers Loggins, and Messina, as well as his partner Caesar.
Through the duration of that time, though they still bickered, Joseph and Carsar grew closer. At first just friends, but they very quickly became something more.
Both of the young men did admit this to themselves as well as one another. They also agreed not to tell anyone else.
Ceasar said he belived that Messina and Loggins had already figured them out.
Joseph only responded with saying; "You're only being paranoid." Though he had a similar feeling.
At lunch time after a long morning of training, the two hamon trainees had ended up sneaking off from the dining room.
"Jojo, you're going to get us in trouble!" Caesar said as he was being dragged behind Joseph, though he didn't make actual attempt to head back to the dining room.
"Cool your jets Ceasarino! Lunch isn't even finished yet, it's one of the few times I actually get my training mask off. Is it so bad that I just want to kiss you while we have time?" He asked cheekily.
Caesar huffed, he was the levelheaded one of the two of them, but Jojo was right, it was a rare occasion that the mask was allowed off and it was a difficult thing to do to sneak each other kisses durning the small window when his mouth was free, and no one else was around.
Jojo sat Caesar down on one of the chairs in the sitting room, and knelt with his knees on either side of his lap. Joseph cupped the blond Italian's face, and Caesar placed his hands on Joseph's hips.
Jojo kissed the tip of Caesar's nose before he started kissing his soft lips. A minute or two pass and they were about to stop and head back to the dining room, when they heard "Ahem-" of someone clearing their throat, in the doorway leading back the way they came.
They both whipped their heads too see none other then Master Lisa Lisa. How hadn't they heard the clicking of her heals as she closed in on them? They thought.
Their faces were bright red as they didn't attempt to move from their position yet. Caesar's grip actually tightened out of fear on Joseph's waist.
The two of them tried to read her reaction but with her ever stoic face, and her eyes hidden behind dark sunglasses didn't give any hints to what she was thinking. "Would you be kind enough to join us for lunch?" She quickly remarked before leaving the room.
Once they believed she was out of earshot, Jojo nervously adjusted his scarf. "I'm sorry this is my fault."
"Damn right it is!" Caesar said pushing Joseph from his lap. Once he stood up he looked at the brunet and saw the hurt in his eyes. "I'm sorry. It's partly my fault too, I went along with it." Caesar huffed ruffling his fingers through his blond locks. "Let's go then." He said walking towards the dining room, Jojo close behind him.
When they reached the dining room, they saw everyone already seated. They both say in the empty seats that were across from each other.
"Where were you two?" Suzie Q asked.
Caesar and Joseph shifted uncomfortably and shared nervous glances at one another.
"Pay no mind to it Suzie Q, they were just off being boys." Lisa Lisa answered, not even looking at the blonde, rather preoccupied with her food.
The rest of lunch was pretty stiff with silence. Nether Jojo or Caesar wanted to speak up, and Lisa Lisa who only kept a straight face and a calm composure, was actually making things more awkward. Even Loggins and Messina knew something was up and didn't dare to speak.
After the lunch that felt longer then it actually was, Joseph told Caesar to tell Loggins and Messina that he had to go talk to Lisa Lisa before heading back to training.
"Do you think I should come with you? Or, should I wait until you're finished?"
"As much as I'd rather face the Pillar Men alone, then her by myself, something tells me it'll be better this way. One on one so we don't interrupt one another, or even argue."
"Alright, I'll trust you on this, I will speak to her when your finished then."
Joseph made his way up to Lisa Lisa's room where she most likely was at this time. He took a deep breath before knocking on the solid wood door.
"Come in." She said from her room.
Joseph gulped, his throat seemingly felt like it was tied in a knot. He pushed the door open and entered the large room, and shut the door behind him.
"Joseph, did you need something?" She asked upon seeing him.
"Actually, I wanted to explain myself!"
"Oh?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"When you caught Caesar and I, in the common area, we were, ah shit!" He said having a hard time collecting his thoughts and forming coherent sentences, before continuing, still not fairing any better. "So Caesar is clearly gay. I mean he over compensates, like he tries way to hard. Then me, I mean I like girls plenty, but guys woah, who couldn't like those too right!?" He clears his throat before slowing down and trying again. "Ok so it's 1938, this kind of relationship, isn't exactly something that people are usually ok with. Yes, and running and hiding is actually in my nature, shameful I know. So we didn't tell anyone."
"I don't thi-" Lisa Lisa starts.
"Besides this is the only family Caesar has, I think he's pretty upset over this too. Hell, I know my family is probably going to hate me!"
"Now wait just a minute, what makes you think I'm angry or even disappointed!? And what makes you think your family is going to act so negative?" Lisa Lisa cuts in before she can hear anymore of Joseph's ramblings.
"Uh, I-" Joseph stutters.
"I was only surprised to have found you like that, and that had to interrupt you was also embarrassing on my part. I grew up around Tibetan monks, and most of them were homosexual, there's nothing wrong with any of it or with you. But I do hope this doesn't distract you from your training!"
That was one weight lifted from his chest, but he was still troubled of the thought of his family finding out. "You can't believe how relived I am to hear that, but I'm sure granny Erina will-"
"She loves you too much for that." Lisa Lisa retorted.
Joseph sighs "I don't even know my parents but I'm sure they would be, disgusted, with me."
Lisa Lisa's mouth formed a frown for a moment "Don't speak like that! Your parents wouldn't be. After all, goodness this isn't my place to be saying this, Robert was in a relationship with William Zeppeli, the man who taught your grandfather hamon. No one in your family would ever think less of you because of this."
Joseph was stunned so much so it had actually silenced him.
"Don't tell anyone what I said about Speedwagon. It wasn't my place to say it." She said rubbing her forehead as if she had a headache, and perhaps she did at this point. "Alright if that's everything please get back to training, we do have the Pillar Men to defeat in little over a week."
"Uh, yes master Lisa Lisa." He said before exiting her room.
He hadn't expected things to go that way, but then again when did things ever go the way he expected it.
