Chapter 7: Energy source
Nineteen Earth years earlier ...
Planet: Jutherasim (Control planet in Valpatria Galaxy)
Location: Council Chambers, Everorthritia City
To my beloved daughter,
I am writing about my granddaughter, Jewels Adamore. She is not like us, Jewels has the gift, given down to her from me just like my grandmother before me.
Do not be ashamed of her, my daughter, Jewels will do great things. Our ability should not be feared nor kept secret, it should be embraced for it is a blessing to Everotorn, self-sustainable energy.
Beware ... War is coming, far greater than the ones our galaxy has seen before. I fear for you, my daughter, and I fear for Jewels, you must send her away before it is too late. If my power, her power, should fall into the wrong hands it will be the end for Everotorn.
I have foreseen it.
With love,
Your mother, Queen Amirosia.
Tears rolled down the pregnant queen's cheeks before falling onto the metal table she was seated behind. She kissed the letter from her mother, the queen before her, and folded the letter placing it down in front of her. "We must protect this child," she spoke to her husband and the high leaders from the neighbouring planets in Valpatria.
"How are we even sure this letter is from the late Queen Amirosia?" Military Leader of Moonsonia questioned, his eyes on the golden letter.
"I know my mother's handwriting, this is from her." The queen spoke strongly, she had to show the others strength if she was to help protect all of Valpatria from the great war. "Besides, when this letter arrived I was not aware I was with egg."
"Until this morning, that is," the King of Everotorn said. "As you all know, this letter was unopened until just now."
"Are you telling us to believe such a thing? Do you not know what you sound like? A great war, there has been many wars. Each time it is Everotorn at fault!" King Bastun accused, standing to his feet quickly knocking over his chair. "You come before us the leaders, kings, and council members with such false predictions! It is unbelievable for the King and Queen of Everotorn to fall so low."
"I agree!" A council member of Jutherasim rose up from his previous sitting position. "This is Everotorn's problem, not ours."
"How dare you?" a royal guard roared from behind the King of Everotorn. "We have protected all of you for many years. If Everotorn falls you all know very well every last one of your precious planets will fall with it! We keep you all—"
"We will send her away," the queen suddenly spoke, placing her hands over her belly. "If the time should come, we will send her away to a place where no harm will come to her."
"An inhabitable planet?" Moonsonia Military Leader asked. The queen nodded her head. "And which planet do you have in mind?"
Both the King and Queen of Everotorn answered with one word.
"Earth."

Present Earth time ...
Planet: Earth
Location: Camp Jameson
It did not take very long for the camp to come into view as we made our way to the top of a hill that overlooked the forest below. The lookout towers were the first things I saw, they towered above the treetops making it easy for the guards to see us approaching from the western side of the hill leading into the valley.
For most of the journey back I could not shake the feeling of being followed. It seemed the closer we got to the camp's edge the less the feeling became.
I followed behind James, who lead the way with Jeremy and Lucy. The other two, whom I had forgotten their names, rode on horses behind us. On the way back Lucy managed to kill two more deers and a bear.
We followed the pathway leading through the thick tall trees.
"You're back!" a male's voice yelled as we entered a cleared area between the tree line.
The man in a tree threw a ladder down before descending on it.
James walked over to the man, asking him, "Do you have anything to report while we were gone?"
"Nah, mate, it's been quiet these past few days out here."
"Good, that's what we like to hear. Have any of the raid teams returned?" Jeremy asked.
James turned around and gave me a glance as Lucy stood beside me, her brown hair blowing in the slight breeze just like mine.
"Be careful with him," she whispered for only me to hear. "James can't be trusted around women." With that, she stepped away from me.
"Lucy, what did you just tell her?" James questioned while Jeremy continued talking with the other man, whose name I did not know.
"The truth," Lucy replied sharply, eyes narrowing at him. "You can't be trusted, and you know it."
"Excuse me? Is this because of—"
"Oh, will you two just shut your pie holes?" One of the guys on a white horse pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Brett," James warned, eyeing him.
The guy, Brett, chuckled. "Sorry boss, my arse has gone to sleep. I can't feel it and I can't put up with whatever is happening between you two for much longer." He motioned between James and Lucy. "Why don't you two just go and have make-up se—"
"BRETT! You idiot, shut your mouth." The second guy laughed, leaning over to a tree he broke a small branch off and carefully hit Brett's horses' side causing it to run. "See you back at camp, Brett!" he called out.
Brett turned his face and stuck his middle finger up before vanishing in the trees.
These people were very strange, I did not fit in with them simply because I was not one of them.
"Jewels, come with me," Lucy suddenly said, causing me to turn my head and look at her. "Don't worry, I won't bite." She chuckled, holding her hand out for me to take.
Before I could, James stepped between us and said, "Lucy, she has to stay with me at all times."
"Of course she does," Lucy said rolling her eyes, her voice laced with venom. "I bet you'll even make her watch you shower, and watch you when you're fuc—"
"Just stop." A throaty groan leaves his mouth as he turned to my direction. "Jewels, come." This time it was James who held his hand out for me to take. When I hesitated he grabs my hand and pulls me away from Lucy, whose arms were folded as she was shaking her head.
I wanted to ask him what happened between him and Lucy, but it was not my place. They probably still thought I was a spy for the ROGS.
We walked to the camp's wall in silence, his hand still wrapped tightly around my own. We entered through a large metal gate that was open.
I instantly noticed the people staring at me and then at my hand in James's, who notices yet does not release me.
Soon we were forced to stop when a large crowd gathered around us causing James to tighten his grip yet again on my hand. "What is—" he begins, but is cut off by Brett.
"James! I just—" Brett pushed his way through the crowd and stopped before us, his eyes full of worry and his breathing uneven and heavy. "I just found out, the Wasties Leader is on his way here."
"Wasties?" I questioned, ripping my hand from James's. "What are—"
"The camp to the east of the Wastelands, alright." James looked at me then back at Brett. "Go, inform Jeremy, I'll be up in the east tower, and make sure the guards are doubled if Ver is coming then we can expect him to be leading a raid."
"What do they want?" Brett's question caused James to grab my hand.
James did not answer, instead, he began pulling me through the crowd and down a street. I had a feeling I knew what these Wasties wanted.
Me.
