Chapter 9

Lucille's POV

I know Ryan told me to get some sleep, but I just couldn't. I wasn't all that tired, just worried. I still can't believe that Caroline kidnapped everyone. It's sickening. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard someone coming up the stairs. They were moving quite slowly. I would think it was a tired Ryan, but I was wrong. My door opened and I was greeted with the last person I wanted to see.

"Hello Lucy," Alex let himself in my room. "What are you doing here?" I got off of my bed. "I just want to talk," he raised his hands in defense, yet still had a smile on his face. It was freaking me out. "I don't have to listen to you," I turned my back to him. "You may want to because the things that I have to say are important," he urged me to pay attention.

"Only if you tell me where Ryan is, I want to know that he's ok," I told him. "He's fine, just napping outside, anyway, I have a story that I want to tell you, you may want to sit down because this will be long," he instructed. I sat in a chair by the bed and he sat in one across from me. I guess it was story time.

"When I was about 5 years old, I remember my parents were comedians, always cracking up anybody who they came across. There wasn't a single critic saying they would ever give them a bad review and they could even make the most serious person ever laugh. One day, when I turned 8, a new tv show came to life being called "Whose Line Is It Anyway" starring you know who and took all the glory away from my family."

I'm pretty sure I knew where his story was going. "No one would laugh at my parent's comedy routines anymore, and then one day, they were booed off the stage and told to never return. It hurt them so much, that they became poor and broke the news that they couldn't afford to have children anymore, so they gave all of us up, and we've been in that foster home ever since," he continued.

Something doesn't add up with what he just said, Alex isn't an only child? I had no idea he had siblings. "You aren't an only child?" I questioned him then. His story is quite intriguing, but that doesn't mean I have sympathy for him. After the way he has treated me all these years, he doesn't deserve it yet.

"Since I've been in that foster home, I never cared for comedians anymore. They're always the same, they're either funny or not, and if they're not, then they won't be called a comedian anymore, just a joke. What you don't understand is that you are going into the exact same life my family was a part of and I hate to say it, but I worry about you," he actually admitted. I couldn't believe his words, yet he still didn't answer my question.

"I say this from all of us in the family, quit comedy, while you can still make people smile," he then resorted back into who he was before. "Never, it is my life and my passion, you can't tell me what to do, you aren't my foster brother anymore," I sounded like a child here, but it was true. Alex can't control my life just because his family couldn't handle the appearance of new comedians.

"You're right, I'm not your foster brother anymore, but from what our stepmom told us, she's anti-anyone who doesn't listen to her, and I suggest you do as I say otherwise we'll both be in trouble," he smirked because it seemed he was getting closer to the truth. "Wait, what?" He started to laugh at my confusion. "Oh Lucy, when you were only 4, you couldn't comprehend anything that was happening, mom and dad made me constantly watch you until we were both given away to that foster home," his words started to sting.

"But that means.." I didn't want to finish my sentence. "That's right Lucille, I am your brother."
