Chapter 10: It's too Late to Apologize

"He's looking at you again," Brooke muttered to me, eyeing him.

Brooke finally came back from New York. And I couldn't stop laughing as she carried all her schoolwork she missed for the past three weeks.

"I think he's looking at both of us," I said.

"Mother may we?" Brooke offered.

"Yes we may."

We turned to him and gave Wyatt the finger. But I only saw his eyes were staring at me. I saw him turning away to the other guys, who chuckled at our "distribution of kindness".

Brooke chuckled. "Now his fan club is glaring at us."

We returned the favor to them, then went back to eating.

"Autumn, you have to tell me what's been going on." Brooke begged me. "What happened while I was away? Why do you hate Wyatt as much as I do?"

I shook my head. "We just talk, and I saw the jerk he really is," I half lied.

The truth is that the past couple of days, Wyatt's been trying to apologize to me. And he is really... creative, you could say.

He'd keep texting me, messaging me in Facebook, and he keeps calling me late at night to catch me off guard and say sorry. He also leaves me post it notes in my lockers (probably with the help of Luis and his lock picking skills), and even had his own friends apologize for him. And each and everytime, I don't forgive him.

I know, you're probably think I'm being too harsh. But what he said to me... hit me so hard. No one ever yelled at me like that, and leaved a huge scar to remind me. And what's worse is that I know he's right. What I did with Brooke is unforgivable, I betrayed my best friend. I'm not going to tell her of course, but I still can't break that promise.

I sighed. Wyatt hasn't been bothering me all day. Maybe he finally quit or just ran out of ideas. At least he hasn't thought of breaking into the announcement room and apologize to me in the speakers.

Like that'll ever happen.

Suddenly, we heard feedback from the schools speakers come to life.

"Hello? Testing one, two, three," a familiar voice said.

I groaned and put my head on the table. This can't be happening. This can't be happening. Everyone stopped talking and looked up the ceiling.

"Well hello, students of Strautlan High!" Luis's voice exclaimed. "This is your handsome, and single host, Luis Stinson coming to you live from the announcement room!"

There was a large thud, that startled everyone.

"You idiot! You gave away our location!" Dean yelled.

"They already know our location! We're using the speakers, duh."

"Oh right."

I heard Cyrus sigh, sounding really bored. "I'll go barricade the door or something."

I couldn't help but chuckle, they'll never change.

"Hey Autumn, are you listening?" Luis asked.

All eyes fell on me. I looked around, everyone had their jaws dropped. Even Brooke's jaw was dropped. I wouldn't be surprised if it fell off the floor. Maybe I should get some duck tape to hold it up for her...

"Way to go, Luis," I grumbled.

"Well we have a special message from your jerk of a friend, Wyatt Matthews!"

I heard gasps coming from everyone. Then they all started to whisper, probably gossips and rumors about me.

"Shut the hell up, Luis!" I heard Wyatt yell.

"Not my fault you messed up, bro," Luis muttered.

"Give me that!"

"No, I have the mike!"

"Well I need to talk!"

"No, I was the one who broke in here! At least let me use it for a few new minutes!"

"Why you little-"

There was a loud crash. The microphone dropped and there was another loud feedback. I had to cover my ears or else my ears would pop.

"Wyatt get off of me!"

"I'm sorry but there are some technical difficulties," Dean apologize in a cheery voice. "So please wait for-"

Loud banging was made. "Open up, right now!" Mr. Fowlman ordered. "You four will be expelled I say, expelled!"

"They found us!" Cyrus exclaimed. "They're trying break in here! Wyatt hurry it up already!"

"Right! Luis, get off of me already!"

There were a lot of shuffling. Some more crashes and yelling. I blinked, what's going on in there?

"Autumn, are you still there?" Wyatt's voice asked through the announcement speakers. "Well if you're listening, I just... I just want-"

"You and your stupid pride Wyatt!" Dean yelled. "Just say you're sorry already!"

I heard another series of gasps. I was too busy frozen in shock to care. The Wyatt I know wouldn't do something so... public.

"I was getting to that!" Wyatt growled.

"Not my fault you need to grow a pair like Cyrus does for-"

"Shut up!" Wyatt and Cyrus yelled in unison.

Wyatt sighed. "Autumn, I regret the stupid things I did that night. I was drunk and a huge jerk to you when you didn't deserve it. And I didn't mean a single thing I said to you. You are nothing like that, no, you're the exact opposite."

There was a short pause.

"All I just want to say is ... I'm sorry Princess."

Then there was a loud slam like a door bursting open.

"Matthews! Jones! Rodriguez! And Stinson!" I heard Mr. Fowlman holler. "You will all be going to be my office right now! Your parents are waiting for you, in there."

Some of the guys cursed.

"Don't use that language, and give me that mic-" Then the speakers turned off.

Everyone stared at me as I looked at the floor. I heard whispers, of everyone at school. Shviers went down my spine, rumors are starting already. Even though Wyatt apologized to me, it wouln't stop the rumors that will be going around about me. So to me, it's alreay too late to apologize.

"Do you know what this means?" Brooke muttered.

I cringed, waiting for the blow.

"I think Wyatt's finally over me!" Brooke exclaimed. "Freedom!"

I looked at her. That wasn't the answer I was hoping for.

"Fashion 101."

I groaned, crashing backwards into my bed.

"Don't give me that, Autumn," Brooke scolded me. "We agreed that once every two weeks, you'll take fashion lessons."

"Only because of you blackmailing me with a past due library book." I glared at her. "Curse you."

She chuckled evilly. "I'll reveal you the location once you pass Fashion 101 and become a fashionista graduate."

I glared at her again. "Once again, curse you."

Brooke rolled her eyes. "You'll thank me later. Now back to the lesson."

I grabbed my college notebook and pencil. "Ready," I said with no enthusiasm.

"Glasses," she said, pointing at a picture on the computer.

Our school supplies are low due to budget cuts. So instead of a projector, we have a computer screen. We should get more finds, but Brooke doesn't want to give up her weekly allowance just as much as I do.

"Glasses can be a fashion accessory," she informed me. "Are you writing this down?"

"Yes!"

She continued. "Not all outfits are good with glasses. But when they are, it makes the outfit... perfect. The glasses will help you look smart and brings out your eyes."

"Noted," I muttered.

"Now, onward to social studies." Brooke said.

"Why social studies?"

"Social studies helps you become social, rather than you always studying."

I know, it was stupid the first time I heard it too.

"Parties." Brooke said, pacing in front of me. "What are parties?"

"Parties are-"

"Uh uh uh," she scolded. "Raise your hand before you speak."

I sighed and raised my hand. Trying my best to not to choke her with it.

"Yes, Ms. Griffin?"

"As I was saying, parties are a gathering which a host invites them to per say... have fun."

"Close." She said. "A party, in a teenager's point of view, is a chance to meet other people, get drunk, and have fun" -she winked at me- "then in the next day, you'll never remember a thing that happened last night."

I took notes, she'll probably make another pop quiz like last time.

"And that's why we're going on a field trip!" Brooke said excitedly.

I looked up from my notebook. "A field trip?"

"Yup," she said, popping the p. "You and I will be going to a party!"

"What?"

"I know, I'm excited too!" Brooke said, jumping in the air.

"How? When? Where?" I stammered.

"A friend of a friend who's the cousin with the friend of Johnny Nelson girlfriend who's birthday coming up. And the party is open to everyone, so we'll be going!"

"Why?" I whined dragging the word on.

"What if I were to tell you... that if you come, you'll graduate from shopper to shopaholic?"

I raised my eyebrow. "Shopaholic? Then one more level and I'll graduate to fashionista!"

And fashion 101 is gone. Bye bye! Adios! So long! Never gonna see you again!

"I know! So you'll be going?"

I stood up and place my hand on the doorknob. "Yeah, let me just ask my-"

"Don't ask your mom!" She cried.

I recoiled. "Why not?"

"She'll say no! Just say you'll be sleeping over my house and we'll sneak out to the party."

"No, it's okay. She'll say yes." I said, opening the door.

"Don't!"

I bolted out the door and raced down the stairs, Brooke following right behind me. I ran into the kitchen where I found my mom.

"Mom!" I said.

"Yes, Autumn?"

"Could-"

Brooke clamped her hand over my mouth.

"Hi Mrs. Griffin, sorry to bother you, Autumn and I were- Ah!"

She took her hand off my mouth and wiped it on her pants. "Autumn!"

"Mom, can I go to a party with Brooke?"

"Sure, Autumn."

I smiled at the dumbfounded Brooke. "See."

My mom smiled at Brooke's confusion. "Unlike certain teenage girls who sneak off to parties, I trust Autumn won't do that. And Autumn needs to get out of the house more, so this will be a great way for her to socialize with other kids. Plus I know she won't get drunk, so she may go."

"Yay," I said with little to no enthusiasm.

"You knew she was going to say yes from the start, didn't you?" Brooke whispered in my ear.

I smiled devilishly. "Yes. Yes I did."

This is a pretty short chapter, wasn't it? Well the next one will be more longer, and awesome-er. Awesome-er is a real word, it's possimpible.

At the right is the song, Apologize by One Republic. I just thought of the song while writing this chapter.

The chapter is coming up! The chapter you've all been waiting for! And it's waiting for you next!
