CHAPTER THREE: Damn you, Fred Weasley!

CHAPTER THREE: Damn you, Fred Weasley!

The next morning when I woke up I smelt a pungent aroma by the side of my bed, I looked down and saw it was a stink bomb. I huffed in frustration but before I could remove it, it went off and filled the  whole dormitory, all the girls in my dorm ran out and started blaming me, all except Hermione.

I walked out of the dorm after them and saw Fred and George in fits of giggles at the bottom of the stairs. I scowled at both of them.

"For God sakes, you two!" I yelled at them.

"What? Snape the git took points from Gryffindor, and you had a go at me! Fair is fair!" Fred tried to say through fits of laughter.

"Honestly...I can't believe you two sometimes!" I muttered sitting down on one of the chairs in the common room, I grabbed a book that was innocently lying on the side and began to read, I didn't bother to go near the dormitory and ignored the rude comments from the girls in my dormitory.

I glared at Fred as he sat down next to me innocently, he seemed pretty happy with himself but I was not happy with him, why did he have to do that? It wasn't fair! I'm going to get him back soon...

"Oh cheer up, Lucy Lu!" Fred teased.

"Don't call me that!" I hissed miserably.

"What? Lucy Lu? Don't you like that, Lucy Lu? Are you sure, Lucy Lu, because I think it suits you Lucy Lu — "

"SHUT UP!" I yelled in his face, by this time the whole common room was staring at us, I got up and ran to my dormitory almost tripping on the way.

I rummaged through my trunk, ignoring the smell, and found a bottle of perfume, I sprayed it around every inch of the dormitory before getting changed into my school uniform. After that I ate breakfast in the Great Hall before going to my first lesson which was Defence Against the Dark Arts.

When in class I sat down next to Hermione, who was busy looking for her Defence Against the Dark Arts textbook, she was flinging books everywhere just to find this one textbook, I tapped her on the shoulder, and she looked up.

"You can share my textbook if you want," I smiled at her, she looked relived.

"Thank you, Lucy, I have so many textbooks in my bag I must have left this one book in our dormitory," I put my book in the middle of us then Hermione turned back to me. "Are you okay about this morning?"

"No but I'm going to get Fred and George back," I growled at the person sitting infront of me's chair.

"Good luck with that one, Lucy..." Hermione muttered. "You know how good Fred and George are."

After a few minutes Umbridge walked into the classroom, she knocked every ones textbooks off of their desks and replaced them with new ones.

"Pointless me bringing my book then..." I muttered to Hermione.

The class had a flick through the books but then I put up my hand in disgust until Umbridge noticed, I was not learning from a textbook like this. It wasn't even a proper textbook! This was not the text book we were ordered to buy.

"Yes, Miss Snape?" She asked in a rather high pitched voice.

"Why are we looking at books that are for first years?" I sneered in disgust.

"Miss Snape? Are you questioning my teaching methods? Just because your father is a teacher and wants this job does NOT mean you can do it for him!" Umbridge snapped at me.

"I'm just saying that there are no defensive spells in this book! We did more practical stuff in first year!"

"Again you are questioning the way I teach! And taking matters further questioning the Minister himself!"

"But I — "

"ENOUGH!" She screamed. "Detention, Miss Snape," Umbridge whispered cruelly.

I turned red in the face, I really hated Professor Umbridge now...

At the end of lessons, I headed back up to Defence Against the Dark Arts and into Umbridge's office for detention, I really didn't care much because it was just a detention, and besides it couldn't be that bad.

I opened the door and was instantly blinded by the colour pink. There were pictures of cats everywhere, decorating the room as if sugar coating her personality. It made me feel sick and I really wish dad had gotten this job instead.

"Ah, Miss Snape, I see you've turned up for your detention...You're going to be writing lines for me today," Umbridge whispered in that annoying tone of hers.

I sat down at the desk provided, and picked up the quill, it was rather odd it was a blood red colour I had never seen one that colour before.

"You will write, 'I must not be rude to a teacher and question the Ministries teaching methods'."

"Wait, two things. One you haven't given me any ink and two how many times am I supposed to write it?"

"You won't be needing any ink, and write the line until it sinks in..."

What? Until it sinks in? I got on with it anyway, I wrote the line down as carefully as I could and to my surprise ink showed up on the paper, but there was also a throbbing pain in my hand...

I looked at my left hand and saw the line I had just written appear there...I gasped and Umbridge turned around.

"Is there something wrong?" She asked

"Yes there is, why on Earth is the writing I just wrote appeared on my hand?!"

"I told you to write it until it sunk in and obviously it has...You are dismissed," Umbridge turned back to the papers on her desk and I grabbed my bag and began to leave when she stopped me. "If you ever question the Ministries ways again you'll be punished further."

I rolled my eyes and then left, my hand was really hurting it was limp and I could do hardly anything with it, I headed down to the Gryffindor common room and sat on one of the chairs.

"Hello, Lucy," Fred smiled coming to sit next to me, I still hadn't really forgiven him from earlier.

"Hi," I didn't really bother to take much notice of him, although the throbbing pain in my hand was getting worse and it couldn't not be read on my face.

"What's wrong?" Fred asked, noticing my expression

I shook my head and tried to ignore him, I still didn't like him. "Nothing."

Hermione stepped into the common room and then saw me. She was about to greet us when she grabbed my left hand harshly, my sleeve had slipped up my arm a bit to reveal the writing that had been caused by Umbridge's quill.

"What happened?!" Hermione demanded, studying my hand with care.

"Umbridge's detention," I brushed her comment aside but Hermione wouldn't give in so she raised an eyebrow. "She made me write lines and they apparently showed up on my hand."

"That's not the correct form of punishment!" Hermione gasped in terror. "I think you should go and see your father about this."

"What's he supposed to do?" I snatched my hand back and crossed my arms, concealling it even though it hurt even more that way.

"If he can't do it, talk to Professor Dumbledore about it!" Hermione was adament to tell someone about this.

I stood up just to keep her quiet, Hermione wouldn't shut up until you'd chosen the correct solution to a problem. "Fine, see you later." I headed towards the exit but Hermione and Fred swiftly joined my sides.

"We'll come with you," Fred told me reassuringly.

We headed to my fathers office immediately, Hermione knocked on the door without a moments hesitation and waited for my father to answer. He did so shortly afterwards and he was certainly surprised to see the three of us together here.

"What?" Was all dad hissed, as if he was majorly annoyed of being interrupted from the Daily Prophet newspaper in the evening.

"Please, Sir, at Umbridge's detention she made Lucy write lines and — " Hermione explained the whole situation to my father and he actually listened to Hermione for once without deducting points from our house. If the conversation concerned me; he would listen.

"Is this true, Lucy?" Dad asked me, he was in absolute shock.

"Every word of it," I nodded.

"Come inside and let me examine your hand, I'll have to get you a potion to heal it."
