George finished writing his letter and put it in an envelope. Just as he finished he heard a sharp knock on the door. George quickly answered the door to a man about his age staring back at him. He had a deep frown and really didn't look like he wanted to be there.
"Um 'ello. Do you need help with somethin?" George asked politely.
The man didn't answer but instead rudely rolled his eyes. Then he pushed past George and walked straight to the empty bunk bed.
"So I'm guessing you're my roommate." George said trying to be nice.
The man nodded and unzipped his suitcase. "Yeah but that doesn't mean I'm gonna be your friend or anythin. So don't expect stuff from me" The man said with a scowl.
George chuckled "looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."
The man looked up from where he was unpacking his suitcase and narrowed his eyes at George. "Look I don't want to be here as much as the next guy, but if we want this experience to be more enjoyable it would be best if you don't try to be cheeky. Got it?"
George put his hand behind his back and crossed his fingers. Then he nodded smiling. "Got it."
The man across the room put his empty suitcase under the bed and pulled out a book to read as he sat on the bed.
George sat there awkwardly. "So do ya have a name?" He said trying to make conversation. The man didn't even look up from the book he was reading.
George coughed trying to fill the awkward silence. "Well if you're not gonna talk then that's okay. You could just be tired, I know I am. I'm George by the way."
Once again the man ignored him.
George stayed persistent. "Where ya from? I'm from Liverpool myself. It's a swell place."
The man didn't acknowledge George at all.
George sighed and let his eyes roam the room out of boredom. His eyes fell upon the other man's suitcase resting under the bed. It was a nice black suitcase and it looked much more expensive then his. On the front he could make out faint lettering: P.Best
George gasped loudly gaining the attention of his roomate. "Pete?"
Pete looked up from his book for the first time with a confused expression on his face. "Do I know you?" He said disgustingly.
George smiled widely. "It's me George Harrison from primary school!" He said not being able to wipe the grin from his face. Maybe after all this time he changed?
Pete smirked. "So looks like ya finally learned how to open ya mouth."
"And you never learned how to shut yours." George retorted.
Pete glared "You were always the worst out of all em Harrison."
George crossed his arms clearly losing all happiness from earlier. "Likewise."
George and Pete sat in silence and would occasionally send a dirty look to the other.
Suddenly Eric entered the room smiling and holding a small bag. "George there's a gift shop in the lobby! I got ya stuff."
Eric grew quiet when he noticed the other unknown man in the room. "Oh ello. You must be our roomate. I'm Eric." Eric smiled.
Pete looked down at his book and didn't say a word.
"Yeah that's Pete he doesn't say much." George said bitterly.
"Okay then." Eric said awkwardly. "Well do ya wanna see what I got us?"
George nodded and ignored Pete. "Sure why not."
Eric emptied the bag and inside where postcards and things like that. But what really caught George's eye were two pins. They were each a circle with the skyline of Liverpool in the middle and the words Liverpool on the outside band.
"Woah Eric these are cool." George said picking up one of the pins and inspecting it.
Eric smiled. "I would have gotten more but they only had two left so I got them. One for you and one for me."
George grinned from ear to ear. "I'll put this in me letter to Ritchie."
Eric rolled his eyes playfully and laughed. "Man, all you ever do is talk about that lad."
George blushed. "Yeah he just drives me mad"
"Ya think if I got that Pete lad somethin he would be a little bit more cheery?" Eric said looking at the man across the room.
George frowned. "Nah. He's always been like that. I don't think he'll ever get a smile onto that face of his."
"Y'know Harrison I liked it better when you never spoke." Pete said joining into the conversation.
Eric had a puzzled look on his face. "Do you two know eachother?"
"Sadly yes." Pete grimaced.
George ignored Pete's comment. "He went to primary school with me and Ringo."
"Who the hell is Ringo?" Pete asked revolted. George could feel his face flushing in anger. "You remember Richard Starkey?"
Pete chuckled. "Oh yeah how could I forget that retarded kid?"
George glared daggers at Pete. "What did you just say about him?"
Pete shrugged. "Why do you care about that halfwit?"
George didn't want to reveal anything but his mouth had a mind of its own. "He's me husband."
Pete laughed at George. "You're a queer! Oh I should have known that the mute kid and the dunce would end up together."
George balled his fists together. Eric put his hand on George's shoulder quickly. "Hey let's get some fresh air. Now."
George hesitantly left the room but he took his letter with him so he could put it in the mailbox.
George and Eric took a walk outside for about an hour so George could clear his head. That left Pete in the room by himself.
Suddenly a nasty plan appeared in Pete's head. He quickly sprinted out of the room and into the lobby. In a small area in the corner of the room were an array of mailboxes. He made sure no one was looking and walked over to his room's mailbox. Then he slowly put his hand in and took out the only letter that was in there.
Then he discreetly tore the letter into shreds and threw the debris in the garbage can. When Pete was done he noticed that there was a pin in the letter. He smirked to himself and put the pin in his pocket, then he walked back to his room like nothing ever happened.
