*Beep Beep*
George groaned at the sudden sound awakening him from his slumbers. God what the hell was that and why was it waking him up so early in the morning? It's still dark outside!
George rolled on his back away from the sound. He covered his ear with a pillow to drown out the noise but to no avail. Then out of anger and frustration he sat up and snatched the phone off his nightstand. The phone was vibrating loudly which caused him to wake up.
He looked at it but squinted his eyes because he wasn't used to the bright light. He noticed that he set an alarm for 1:45 in the morning. Why the hell did he set an alarm so early?
Realization washed over the man. He had a flight to catch. A flight that would take him to the military base. A flight that would take him away from his friends, children, and Ringo.
George slid the button on his phone in order to stop the deathly, piercing sound. Then he placed his phone and the nightstand and turned on the lamp brightening up the room. George adjusted his eyes to the bright light and got out of bed. He got dressed into a sweatshirt and sweatpants. He wanted to be comfortable because he was probably going to fall asleep on the plane.
When he finished brushing his teeth and hair, he back to where Ringo was soundly sleeping. The man was fast asleep, completely oblivious to the morning alarm and bright lamp. George chuckled, he swore that if a tornado hit the house Ringo would peacefully sleep through it.
George leaned over the bed and pecked Ringo's cheek. Ringo didn't wake up and just buried his head in the pillow. Then a mischievous idea suddenly came to George. Ringo would be pretty angry but it would be worth it.
George walked downstairs and rummaged through the cabinets until he found what he was looking for.
A nice black sharpie.
When he reached their room George had to hold back an evil laugh. He poked Ringo's cheek to make sure he was fully asleeep, then he used the sharpie and drew an ugly bushy moustache on Ringo.
He continued and drew a long uni brow on Ringo as well as a goatee on Ringo's chin. Then George got a little creative a drew an eye patch on Ringo's right eye. Surprisingly Ringo didn't wake up even when George was drawing on his eyelid.
To top it all off George wrote "Loser." across his forehead, because why not?
George leaned back and smirked at his creation. Oh man Ringo was going to be furious when he woke up. George giggled at the tought. That giggle soon turned into loud laughs.
Ringo scrunched his nose at the familiar sound waking him from his dreams. He opened his eyes to see George standing above him closing his eyes and clutching his stomach in laughter.
Ringo sat up and rubbed his eyes, still confused as to why George was laughing his ass off, so he spoke up. "Georgie?"
George instantly stopped laughing at the sound of his husband. He didn't even notice he was awake, he was laughing too hard.
"George what's so funny?" Ringo asked, his voice groggy from sleep.
George shrugged and tried to hide the grin on his face. "I don't know."
Ringo glared at his husband but the look on his face made George chuckle because of all the sharpie on his face.
Ringo was already confused but now he was starting to get nervous. "George what's going on?"
Ringo glanced around at the room trying to find a clue as to what George thought was so hilarious. His eyes landed on something in George's hand. Ringo gasped loudly upon realization of the object. "You bastard!"
Ringo practically jumped out of bed and sprinted into the bathroom. George stopped laughing and follow Ringo into the bathroom in their room. George found Ringo frowning and checking in marked face out his the mirror. "George this is going to take me forever to get out." Ringo glared at George in the doorway.
George smiled apologetically at Ringo. "I'm sorry Rich but I saw an opportunity I couldn't pass."
Ringo groaned and wet a washcloth. "You're an arse you know that?" Ringo said still angry. George smiled and took the warm washcloth from Ringo. He was about to protest but stopped when George put his free hand on Ringo's cheek and used his other hand with the washcloth to gently cleanse Ringo's face. "You're cute when you're angry."
George rubbed the washcloth along Ringo's chin and upper lip, washing the moustache and goatee off. "Yeah I'm still pretty pissed at ya." George hummed as a reply and pecked Ringo on the lips. Ringo didn't say a word after that and let George continue washing his face. "What a shame all of this has to come off. You looked pretty sexy as a pirate y'know."
Ringo rolled his eyes. "George it's two in the morning, it's way too early for this."
George giggled and kissed Ringo's nose. "Like I said earlier, you're cute when you're angry."
Ringo was silent until George was finished and put the washcloth away. When George wasn't looking Ringo crept up behind him and turned George's head toward him and smashed their lips together. George was a little shocked at first but gave in and kissed Ringo back just as passionately. Ringo let George's hands roam his body while Ringo's hands stood firmly on George's shoulders.
However before things could get to heated Ringo pulled away and smirked. "You're lucky you're cute too."
Eventually George and Ringo had to stop fooling around and make sure George had everything ready to go for the flight. George and Ringo placed all of George's bags by the door. Then George called an uber to come pick him up and drive him to the airport.
"Can't you drive me to the airport?" George asked for what felt like the hundredth time. Ringo frowned sadly and didn't look at George. "Honey you know I have to stay here with the kids."
"I know I just want to spend as much time with you as I can." George looked down at the ground.
Ringo sighed and grabbed George's shoulders looking him in the eyes. "Hey we'll still write eachother letters right? We can still talk to eachother." Ringo tried to form a smile but the pain in his throat from being on the verge of tears, was stopping him.
"This is not goodbye Georgie." Ringo tried to sound confident but his voice cracked right in the middle of his sentence.
George nodded and hugged Ringo. The shorter lad buried his head in George's chest, while the taller lad buried his head in the crook of Ringo's neck.
They stayed like that just holding eachother not wanting to let go. George kept one hand in Ringo's hair and the other on Ringo's waist holding the smaller lad against him. Ringo rubbed his hands up and down George's back in an attempt to not let George cry right in front off him.
But all efforts were lost at the sound of a car horn, signaling that the uber was here to pick George up. At the sound of the noise George could feel all hope lost and let the tears fall. Ringo pulled back at the feeling of cold tears hitting his neck.
"Sweetheart it's okay. It's okay." Ringo said quietly wiping the tears from under George's eyes.
"Its just I love you so much that I don't want to say goodbye." George found it hard to say words and not cry at the same time.
"Geo this isn't a goodbye." Ringo said surprisingly without a hint of doubt in his voice. "This is more of a see you later."
Without another word from them, they packed up George's suitcases and packed them into the back of the uber.
While all of this was happening Zak and Lee were sleeping peacefully in their beds. At the sound of the loud horn Zak awoke and sat up, wondering what was going on. He looked outside from the window where he heard the noise. He saw a car and his dads' putting suitcases inside of it. He quickly realized what was happening and ran into his sister's room and tried to wake her up.
George put the last suitcase into the car. George turned toward Ringo and gave him a small smile. "I'll see you later?" Ringo nodded. "See you later. Oh and George?"
George perked up at the sound of his name. "Yes?"
Ringo stepped closer to George. "I love you." George took Ringo's hand in his and smiled. "I love you more."
George and Ringo leaned in for one last kiss. Unfortunately it didn't last long because both of them were both exausted from everything.
George pulled away but still held his husband's hand like he always did. George realized that sometimes you never seem to notice when something you do all the time, without evening thinking about it, would be your last time. George held Ringo's hand even when he was inside the car and had to hold it outside the window. The uber driver started the car and started to slowly drive off. George and Ringo could feel eachother's fingers slipping away. Ringo tried to walk with the car but quickly learned that wouldn't last long.
Ringo hesitantly let go of George's hand.
George poked his head outside off the window and watched as Ringo faded away into nothingness.
Ringo stood on the pavement, not wanting to move from his spot. Then he suddenly heard the front door open and out ran his two older kids Zak and Lee.
Zak ran to his father's side. "Where's Daddy?"
Ringo kneeled down by Zak and Lee. "He just left."
Lee just stood there not really knowing what "Left" actually meant.
But Zak knew exactly what it meant. He balled his little hands into fists and screamed at the top of his lungs "No! I didn't get to say Goodbye!" His piercing screams filling the once silent air. "I need to tell him goodbye! I need to tell him I love him! What if he doesn't know that?!"
Ringo pulled his son into his arms. "Zak he knows." Ringo didn't know what to say except for that.
Zak continued to scream all throughout the night, causing Ringo to not get any sleep that night. Even if Zak was silent Ringo still wouldn't have slept at all, knowing George wasn't by his side.
"I would give up the world to have you sleeping in my tired arms tonight."
