DAN POV

When the car drove off I lay on the cold ground with my jacket draped over me and my arms under my head. The sky was really pretty and it was only now I realised how small I was compared to the world and everyone in it, it was actually kinda terrifying to think about how I am insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I shivered, scared, thinking about how i could die and it wouldn't affect the world. I quickly fell asleep curled in a ball to keep myself warm.

~Time skip~

I woke up cold from the rough wind and the fact that my jacket had fallen off me, I was now lying on it. I stood up, my body aching from lying on the hard ground. I looked around me remembering what happened last night and cringing about how silly I had acted when I ran, I should have stayed and tried to talk to Phil.

I walk in the direction that I came from last night, it seemed longer than when I ran. I walked down the road as cars and van's passed me. I kept walking and it started to rain, at first it was just spitting so I could keep walking but it slowly became worse and I soon needed to put my jacket over my head to stop myself from getting soaked.

I finally got to a bus stop, it was empty and was covered in spray paint. I sat on the bench and looked at the times, the next bus was in 10 minutes so I sat and counted the money I had in my pocket. I had £2.50 which would hopefully be enough to catch the bus, but that would be all.

The bus came 5 minutes late and the bus fare came to £2. The bus was empty except for an old lady with a bag of food from a supermarket in the next town over from where I lived. When I finally got off the bus after a 25 minute ride I walked to my house; carefully so no one saw me. when I got there I took the key from underneath our slightly destroyed welcome mat and unlocked the door, i slid it back under before I stepped inside. The house smelled slightly like alcohol and disinfectant, it smelled like home.

First I went to my bedroom so see if anyone had been in there when I was gone, luckily no one had so i could take what I need without raising suspicion. Next I went to the kitchen, I took enough food to last for a few days and not too much to raise suspicion. Last of all I went into the living room to check the news, I was extremely interested in the recent  football game. I turned the TV on and they were just finishing about the weather, they usually do a local news article then the sport. The news article was talking about a child that had gone missing yesterday, I wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying until I heard them describe what I look like! I immediately looked at the TV screen to see what was going on. They had a picture of me and a list of what I looked like next to it. I suddenly became very cautious of who saw me, even the people I never spoke too knew who I was now.

I turned the TV off without even looking at the resent football score. I walked out to my back garden with everything stuffed into my backpack. I ducked through the hole in the fence at the end of the garden to the woods behind my house, I finally reached the small hut I found when I was young.

I opened the door and stepped inside. I saw the bed I made from what was dumped in the woods. the bed was made from the top half a bunk bed that I found near the road, conveniently I found a dirty old mattress by the road 2 months later. From my bag I took out a blanket and a throw pillow I took from my house. next I took two boxes from under my bed and filled one with everything from my room (clothes, etc.). I filled the second one with the food I took: I had 2 bottles of water, 3 apples, 5 granola bars and a jar of chocolate spread, I would need to go to the shop soon.

That night I went back into my house when I knew no one was there again and I filled up a hot water bottle to keep me warm. The mattress was actually really comfortable and I had a good sleep due to my dad not stumbling around drunk.
