If you weren't at the counter, you wouldn't have noticed the door opening - the chiming of the bell is muted by the mandatory Christmas music playing over the loudspeakers. You do your best to look merry as you greet your newest customer.

"Welcome to the Hero Ca- oh, hey, Izucutie." You wave.

He smiles brightly, half-skipping over to the counter and clearly hiding something behind his back. You're like 90% sure it's a knife and he's finally done with your bullshit. You wouldn't blame him.

"Hi, Y/n! Merry Christmas! I kinda thought you'd be closed for the day," he says, coming to a stop across from you.

You shrug and slump across the counter slightly. "Nah. Merry Chrisler, though."

"Yeah! I'm glad I got to see you though, beeecaaauuuse..." This is it. This is how I die. At the hands of an adorable cinnamon roll in this God forsaken café on Christmas Day. "... I have my class' present for you!"

Izuku proudly places a smallish box on the counter, wrapped in shiny silver paper and tied up with a neat green bow on top. He looks excitedly from you to the box and back, undeterred by your blank stare. Not a knife, huh.

"... Izuku, sweetie, what the fuck? I didn't get any of you anything. This is illegal."

He laughs. "Oh no, it's fine! We all love coming here, so we wanted to put something together to say thank you. Um, please take it?"

You internally cry a little at his pleading look. Sighing, you pull the box across the counter towards yourself. "Okay, fine. But you have to accept some free food 'nd stuff."

He just nods, gesturing for you to open the gift. You reluctantly do so, pulling off the bow and the ribbons and lifting off the lid. At the very top is a card, with a few pictures of chaotic scenes here in the café decorating the front. The inside is signed by all the UA kids you know - including Shinsou, surprisingly. Well, he does have a doodle of a mini him flipping the bird out at you, but it's a contribution nonetheless. You smile and set it aside, reaching into the box for the other item.

You pull out a small, hard-cover book, green in colour with a cute photo of Izuku on the front. He gives an awkward laugh when he sees it, beginning to mumble something or other about Mina going through his phone without asking. You decide not to disturb him, scanning the title - A Smile A Day - before flipping it over and reading the back.

"Do - do you like it?" Izuku asks tentatively, fidgeting as he waits for you to finish reading.

You look up at him with a grin. "Yeah. I think my favourite part is the cover." You laugh as he begins to splutter, lightly bonking him on head with the book to make him chill out. "But, seriously, this is really sweet. Thanks, Izucutie."

"I'm really happy to hear that!" He beams, slightly red. "I hope you'll enjoy reading it... oh, don't start checking until the 1st of January! It starts from the new year!"

You put the book and card back in the box, placing the lid on and picking it up to go and put it in your locker. "Gotcha."

"Great! Well, I gotta get home. My mum wants to go visit Kacchan and his parents..." He forces a tiny laugh, a sound that says he's going to die and he knows it.

You shoot him a finger gun as you head towards the back room, he himself walking over to the front door. "Don't die, my guy."

"I'll try... Merry Christmas, again!" He beams, before disappearing out onto the street.

"Happy Crisis..." You mumble, punching in the code to your locker and placing the gift safely inside. It's on your way back to the counter that you come to a realisation.

"... IZUKU YOU BITCH COME BACK HERE AND GET YOUR FREE FOOD-"

the mass update will be posted later in the day, but i had this idea and i wanted to write something for it and to plug the real thing-

yuuuuup, i'm making a book called a smile a day :)
each day, starting from january 1st, i'll post a message from a bnha character
the book will be up before the new year with a little introductory page, where you can request specific characters to have more frequent messages and stuff-
if you have an idea for a message, feel free to pm me! :)

i have two covers which i'm trying to choose between, actually - it's the same thing, but with different lighting, sooooo comment the one you prefer i guess lol
