Chapter 5
As soon as the bullet had shot out of the barrel of the gun and lodged itself into Y/n's stomach she let out a loud scream. The thief dropped her and she fell to the floor with a loud thud. Her h/l h/c hair fell around her face, and a pool of dark red blood spilling out of the wound onto the floor. Sam pointed his gun at the man who in turn pointed his gun at the six foot three gargantuan in front of him. A loud sound of flapping wings was heard followed by Castiel appearing next to Y/n. He looked at her body, red staining her white shirt like a crimson flower, shining h/c waves of hair framing her face, which was contorted in pain. Her breathing was shallow, still present, but fading quickly.
"Y/n..." Cas breathed out.
The thief in the flannel didn't know what had happened, he hollered in surprise. "Who the— what the hell are you?!" He yelled, aiming his gun at the now furious angel. Cas turned to face the stranger, pain and fury present on his face. "My name is Castiel, I am an Angel of the Lord..." He paused for a second to turn back to Y/n. "You hurt someone who I care very deeply about." The flanneled man was laughing. "Angel? No, no you can't be an Angel." Castiel cocked his head "Why not?" He asked genuinely.
"Because," the disheveled man laughed, "I'm an atheist. Besides, you? You're a dead man." He shot Castiel, expecting him to fall. The bullet worked itself inside to where his heart should be, but nothing happened. Cas once again faced the man, touching the wound and looking at his bloody fingers.
"You ruined my favorite coat." He stated.
The man dropped the gun. At this moment Dean had made it to the door. He kicked it in, holding his gun and looking for Sam who he spotted almost immediately. Then he saw the flanneled man, a seriously pissed off angel, and Y/n on the floor in pain and in a pool of blood. Sam took his opportunity of surprise to tackle the frightened guy to the ground. Castiel knelt down beside Y/n and placed a hand over her wound, bright light engulfing his hand and Y/n's abdomen. When he pulled his hand away the wound was gone, but she was still unconscious. He gently picked her up and placed her in a booth next to them, laying her down so she could rest.
The other patrons and staff were extremely frightened and confused at what had just happened. First a robbery, then a strange man appears, gets shot in the chest and just walks if off. To even say they were confused was an understatement. Dean grabbed the bag of stolen property and began distributing its contents back to their original owners, and they took them gratefully.
Sam held the struggling man's arms behind him and locked them in place, just like his dad had showed him. He called out for his brother. "Dean! A little help?" The older Winchester returned the rest of the money to the cashier and walked over to the struggling man in his brothers arms. He pulled his fist back and drilled it into the man's face, quickly knocking him out cold. Sam let him fall to the ground. "Well," Dean said, "I believe we can say that this prophet," he pointed to Y/n. "Has the worst luck ever!" Chuckling quietly to himself he walked out of the restaurant as Cas picked up the small girl in his arms and carried her out to the Impala, where little Levi was waiting for them.
Dean opened up the drivers side door and got in, picking up Levi and petting him. Sam got in the passenger side and gave his brother a look. "What?" Dean asked "It's a soft cat!" Sam rolled his eyes, snickering when Dean sneezed. "Dammit..." he heard his brother say to himself.
Castiel, who was carrying an unconscious Y/n, opened the back door and gently got into the back seat, positioning himself so she was in his lap. The angel looked down at the sleeping woman, her h/l h/c hair framing her face as she slept, her chest rising and falling with her breaths, her slow and steady heartbeat. He never felt so flustered in his time on earth or in Heaven. What would the angles think? Would they kill her? Or him? Kill them both? These thoughts rushed through Castiel's mind as he was stroking Y/n's cheek in an absent minded state. Her soft s/t skin was glistening in the sunlight with small shadows dancing around her. He sighed and stopped stroking her face, deciding to break the awkward silence. "Thank you both, Sam, Dean, for saving her." Sam turned to look at the angel and smiled. "It's no problem Cas, she's our responsibility too."
______________
The quartet arrived back at their hotel and as Castiel carried the unconscious girl, the man at the front desk stared at them with wide eyes. Sam rubbed the back of his head. "Uhh yeah sorry," he pointed at the woman in Castiel's arms, "she had too much to drink. We're taking her upstairs, sorry about the trouble." Dean was still petting Levi, who was now sleeping in his arms as well. Sam rolled his eyes at his older brother.
"Hey," the man behind the counter, who's name tag read Krona, called. The men turned to face Krona, he pointed to the cat. "No pets allowed, especially strays." Dean stroked the cat and frowned at Krona "Well first off," Dean spat, "he's not a stray. He's her's." He jabbed a thumb in Y/n's direction. "Second off, we aren't gonna be here much longer. And lastly," Dean pulled out his F.B.I. badge, which prompted Sam to do the same, "F.B.I. business, pal, we just go where the Bureau sends us."
Krona's eyes widened. "Oh! Sorry officers, didn't know you were F.B.I.!" Sweat beaded up on his forehead. Sam chuckled contently. "It's alright." They put their badges away and continued to their room. Well, Sam and Dean's room, Cas just kinda showed up with Y/n.
"Did you have to be so hard on the guy?" Sam asked Dean when they got to their room. "Well yeah Sammy! He was giving me an attitude." Dean replied causing his little brother to sigh. Castiel situated Y/n on one of the beds and moved a strand of hair out of her face. Sam saw this and whispered to Dean. "What's up with Cas?" Dean smiled like the Cheshire Cat. "Well Sammy, seems Cas here was bitten by the love bug."
The angel turned to face the brothers. "I did not get bitten by any kind of insect."
"Yeah yeah, whatever Cas." Was Dean's chuckling reply.
