Chapter 4
Y/n, Castiel, Sam, and Dean all sat down at a table. A waiter walked up to the quartet and set down four menus on the table. He gave a wide smile. His name tag read 'Sean' in big, black letters, the logo for Biggerson's above it.
"Hi!" He said and pulled out a small notebook and pencil from his apron pocket. "My name is Sean and I'll be taking care of you! Can I start you off with something to drink?" His pencil tip was rested on the notebook, poised to write at anytime. "Coffee, black." Dean muttered, leafing through the menu to the burger section and looking at his choices. "Make that two, please." Sam said smiling at the waiter. Sean quickly scribbled the order down and turned to Y/n, giving a flirtatious smile. "Anything for you miss?" She looked at her choices. "Ummm.... Can I have chai please? Warm is okay." He grinned mischievously and wrote it down. He turned to Cas. "Anything for you, sir?" He shook his head and narrowed his eyes at the waiter.
As Sean straightened and turned to walk away to the kitchen, Castiel glared at the boy, upset that he looked at Y/n that way. He had the urge to walk in there and smite him. Remember, talk to Dean about it later. Sean came back with three cups of water and slipped (Y/n) a piece of paper that read: xxx-xxx-xxxx call me~. Dean looked curiously at her "What's that Y/n?" Y/n reacted quickly, crumpling up the paper and stuffing it deep into the left cup of her f/c bra. "N-Nothing!" She tried playing cool, but stuttered. God damn fucking men.
She was busy mentally cursing the day Sean was born. Castiel tipped his head to the side, analyzing Y/n's thoughts. "Why do you physical harm upon the waiter?" Castiel asked, looking at her, this caused Dean and Sam to turn their heads as well. Y/n held up her hands and gave a nervous chuckle. "No... No reason!"
She crossed her arms and looked into her lap, a dark red dusting her cheeks. Sam and Dean laughed but Castiel just looked out the window at a passing hawk, the colors of it's feathers blending and contrasting each other perfectly. He wasn't listening to anything going on around him until about ten minutes later, when Sean came out with three cups on a serving tray.
"Alright," the waiter started handing out drinks. "Two coffees for the gents." He placed the coffees in front of Sam and Dean, and turning again to get Y/n's mug. "And a warm chai for the lady." Castiel heard the flirting in his voice, it made him upset but he calmed down, looking out the window once more at the beautiful bird, who was now perched on a lamp post.
Once again Sean whipped out his notebook and pencil. "Okay do you know what you'd like?" His cheery voice sounded a little sickly sweet, like someone had drilled a sense of false happiness in his brain.
Dean put down his menu first. "Double bacon cheeseburger with fries please and thank you. Also, a big slice of apple pie." Sam followed. "Your Caesar salad if you don't mind." He smiled at Sean who was jotting down orders. "And for you?" He asked Y/n in a sultry voice. "Just f/f please." He scribbled it down and raised his voice so Cas could hear him. "Anything for you sir?" Y/n turned to Cas and nudged his shoulder.
"Cas?" She asked softly. "Do you want anything to eat?" He looked at her, memorizing the details of her face before shaking his head. "I don't need to eat." He replied before turning to face Dean.
Sean walked off. "I'll be back with your food shortly." Sam nodded and smiled. Castiel asked Dean if he could speak to him outside, making Sam and Y/n look at him in confusion. "Yeah sure Cas we can—" he never finished his sentence because Cas placed a hand on his shoulder and with a flapping of wings, they were gone.
Castiel had brought Dean and himself to the nearby woods by the restaurant. He could see Levi pawing at the windshield of the Impala from where he was standing. Dean put his hands in his pockets and whistled. "What'd you need to talk about Cas?" He asked, slightly irritated with leaving his baby brother at the restaurant.
The millennia old being seemed nervous. "I have these... feelings..." He stated blunty. "These... urges whenever I'm around Y/n. My stomach feels weird, and my chest is tight." He paused before continuing. "I can't comprehend these human emotions, Dean. They are very complex." He looked at Dean, who had his head in his hands, and waited for an answer. "That, Cas," he said as he laughed to himself. "Is a feeling called love." Castiel tilted his head "What is love?" He asked, genuinely confused. Dean snorted and patted a hand on the angel's shoulder. "It's when you're... attracted to someone Cas. As in more than friends." Cas opened his mouth to say something back until he heard a noise...
A struggle. A noise of distress, a pause, a prayer.
I'm sorry Castiel.
And then... a single gunshot. "Dean." Is all he said before growling and 'flying' back to the diner.

There was so much... pain... She didn't know what happened. One minute, everything was fine. Sean had brought the food out and placed it on the table, he smiled and excused himself before going back to the kitchen. Y/n and Sam had started eating their food, then a man walked in. He looked nervous, and edgy, like a child who was going to school for the very first time, and couldn't let go of his mother's hand. The man was wearing a black hat with a faded logo for 'Dixon's Novelty Shop' printed on the front, he also wore a red and black flannel over a black tee shirt and jeans, they had small holes in them, and looked like they had cargo pockets. Adorning his feet were a pair of Timberland boots that needed washed, like he hadn't washed them in months. His eyes were a warm caramel color, and his hair was a dark chocolate brown, with a stubble on his face to match.
The man walked up to the register and reached deep into his pocket, before pulling out a handgun. Y/n's eyes snapped to the register when she heard a gasp of fear, and she saw the man with the gun pointing it at the cashier.
"Give me all the money in the god damn register." The man demanded. When the cashier didn't reply he added a sharp: "Now!" to the end of the sentence, getting the attention of the five people in the lobby, not including the cashier.
After the cashier had put the money in the register into a bag the man pulled out of his jacket, he walked over to the couple closest to him, a middle aged man and his wife, still pointing the gun. "Put your wallets and jewelry in the bag, now!"
The startled couple complied.
The woman took off a pair of pearl earrings, a diamond necklace, and took her wallet out of her purse before putting it in the bag. The man took off a watch and got his wallet out of his pocket before putting them in the bag. At this point, Sam had pulled out his gun and clicked the safety off as the man walked over to himself and a terrified Y/n. "Same for you, wallets and jewelry in the bag." He nudged the gun at Y/n, whose only jewelry she had on was her mothers emerald ring that hung from a sliver chain. She wouldn't give that to a thief; especially after her mother passed away. "You heard me bitch!" The thief shouted angrily. "Put your jewelry in the bag!" Y/n mustered up the most courage she had before swiping a strand of h/c hair out of her face. She took a deep breath to calm her buzzing nerves.
"No."
The man gritted his teeth at her. "What did you just say to me?" He grabbed her up by her hair, causing her to cry out in pain. This forced Sam to stand up, pointing his gun at the thief. "Let her go!" His deep voice resonated through the diner, loud and strong. The man pressed his gun to Y/n's stomach. "Put your hands up and drop your gun." Y/n felt him inhale her hair. "She smells nice, pretty little thing, ain't ' cha?" Sam looked torn between shooting him and putting the gun down.
Y/n shook her head, mouthing the words shoot him to Sam. She didn't want anyone else getting hurt. "Ten seconds." The man spat.
"Nine." She could hear the quiet sobbing of the woman behind her.
"Eight." Y/n made a last second decision and stomped on the man's foot. He grunted and loosened his grip slightly, but suddenly yanked back on her hair, exposing Y/n's throat and making her look at the ceiling.
I'm sorry, Castiel. She prayed to him directly. As she closed her eyes, she heard the firing of a gun, and felt an unbearable pain in her abdomen.
