Chapter 21
⚠️ Heavy Smut ⚠️
Cas pressed hard kisses against Y/n's passion-bruised lips, eliciting breathy moans that escaped from her throat in small bursts. She pulled him closer to her so their bodies were pressing against each other, their desperation very plain in their actions. He skimmed his tongue across the skin of Y/n's throat and nipped at her exposed flesh as he ran his right hand up her shirt to cup her breast. Y/n bit hard on her bottom lip so she wouldn't cry out too loudly. Her fingers knotted themselves into Cas' hair and pulled at the root, Castiel dug his teeth harder into her neck as a groan pushed its way past his tongue and against Y/n's sensitive skin.
The erotic exchange continued until a sudden branch snapping drew Cas' attention away from Y/n. "What is it Cas?" She asked as breathless pants escaped her lips. He only pushed a single finger against his lips to silence her. They listened closely to the world around them.
The sound of crunching leaves was heard to the right of the camp.
Castiel drew his blade from the pocket of his hiking trousers just outside the door of the tent and mentally prepared himself for battle. When the unknown creature stepped closer to their fabric home Cas took a leap out at the creature, coming face to face with a large frightened deer. The deer took one small glance at Cas and ran the opposite direction, hopping over various obstacles before disappearing out of sight. Y/n shuffled out of the tent in time to see the graceful animal leap over a fallen tree. "Thank you for protecting me from Bambi, Cas." The angel tilted his head to the side and stared off into space. "I don't understand that reference."
"I know you don't baby, we've gotta watch some Disney when this case is over."
His nose scrunched up. "What is 'Disney'?" He put finger quotes around the word Disney. "That's a movie company that has made millions of animated and live-action films." Y/n fixed her rumpled shirt and crawled over to her angel boyfriend to press a kiss onto his cheek. "Too bad, I'm not in the mood anymore." Cas hummed in agreement and nuzzled his head into her neck, she sighed as his scruff brushed against her skin and tickled her. "Let's make a campfire. It'll be dark in a few hours, we can at least collect the wood." She suggested. Castiel pressed a hard kiss to her lips and put his blade back in his pants pocket. "Let's go." Y/n tugged him lightly by his hand as they entered the woods, collecting many small branches and dry leaves for kindling as well as large logs and fallen tree parts to burn for the night. They walked back when the sun had fallen towards the horizon and the cool late afternoon air set in. "Y/n, lets go by the lake for a while." Cas suggested as he tugged her hand lightly. She smiled at his childishness and followed him promptly so they could watch the sun dip below the lake's shimmering surface.
They sat in tranquil silence.
The evening cicadas started chirping and the crickets started playing their songs, creating a soft environment for Castiel and Y/n to bask in each other's presence. "Y/n," Cas whispered into her ear; his voice sounded gravelly. "You know I love you, right?" Y/n looked him in the eye. "Of course Cas, I love you too."
"I've been thinking for a while, I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." He grasped her hand and kissed her knuckles gently.
"I don't know if I'd be able to exist without you in my life. You've changed me, in ways I never thought were possible. You've taught me how precious life is, and I want to protect you in every way I physically can. My body hurts when we're apart, and I feel myself yearn for the moments when we'll be intimate again," he pressed small kisses in her shoulder and whispered into her skin. "You're all I've really got here, the only thing keeping me tied to this earth is you, Y/n."
She was stunned into silence.
"C-Cas... I... I don't know what to say. That was beautiful." She wiped stray tears off of her cheeks and kissed him repeatedly on the face. He smirked and embraced her tightly, rubbing imaginary shapes into her shoulder blades. Her arms were vices above his shoulders, but he didn't mind. He didn't need to breathe anyways.
Eventually Y/n let go of Castiel's neck and pressed a long hard kiss against his chapped lips. Cas lifted her up by the waist and pulled her so she was straddling his hips. The kiss intensified when Y/n wove her fingers into his dark curls and pulled slightly. Cas internally groaned with delight and held her tighter by her waist, Y/n outwardly let a small moan escape her lips as his fingertips pressed into the healing bruises already etched into her supple flesh. They stayed there for a few minutes as the sun continued its downward descent into the lake and the evening cicadas started waking and chittering in the trees around them; both of them were almost too busy relishing the other that they couldn't notice the shining of a LED flashlight until a stray beam hit Y/n in the face through the trees. They pulled apart quickly and stood up, Y/n slightly panting and a deep blush spreading across her cheeks. Cas involuntarily pushed Y/n so he acted as a body shield, she was behind him as the figure, or figures, emerged from the trees. The lights shone directly in their faces.
"Why so defensive Harvey? It's just me, Rick!"
Cas straightened his flannel and pocketed his sunglasses, which he had forgotten to take off when the sun started to set. "Hey Rick! Sorry, you startled us." Y/n let out a small breath she'd been holding. Rick and another Ranger stepped into the clearing completely, both were holding holding large metal flashlights in their hands, the light reflected dangerously off the handguns in their holsters. Y/n shuffled out from behind Cas and held a hand up to shield her eyes. "Hi Rick, how've you been?" Rick and the Ranger pointed their light at the ground. "Good Rachel, real good. This is Jerome Valska, he's a new Ranger that I've been given the pleasure to train. Why don't you say 'hi' Jerome?"
Jerome, a tall, thin boy with a head of thick red hair, stepped up and outstretched his hand, a long smile on his face. "Hiya, I'm Jerome, but my friends call me Joker." His tone and the way he held himself was confident and charming. Cas shook his hand firmly. "Harvey, this is my fiancé, Rachel." Y/n went to shake his hand, but he took it upon himself to press a kiss to her knuckles. "Very nice to meet you Madame." Y/n nodded, very aware of just how much he creeped her out. "Likewise." She nearly had to yank her hand out of his grip and retreated behind Castiel. I don't like him Cas, he's creepy. Cas made a barely noticeable noise of recognition. I agree, he's making it very hard for me to stay calm, especially with the way he's thinking about taking you. Y/n thought of the two things that could mean and decided she didn't like either of them.
"We're making our rounds around the campsites to make sure there aren't any squatters or critters lurking about; this is the last site, so we're heading back down the mountain."
"Safe travels." Cas called as they turned to start their trek back down. Jerome made a point to turn back and look at Y/n for a second before slowly following Rick down the natural trail. Cas let a deep growl escape his lips that Jerome seemed to hear, because he faintly chuckled as they continued to walk. "What're you laughing about Valska?"
"Oh nothing Rick, it's nothin'."
They disappeared behind the thick brush a few steps later.
"Every damn time." Cas muttered under his breath. Y/n quirked her head to the side. "What do you mean Cas?" A red blush worked its way up Cas' neck and ears. "We keep getting interrupted every time I try to show you how much I love you."
It was Y/n's turn to blush deeply.
Cas stroked her cheek with his thumb. "You're so cute when you're embarrassed." This made her blush more. "L-Lets just... get the fire started." She walked to the camp while covering her red face, Cas followed with a smug smirk that pulled his thin lips almost to his ears. Together they placed the firewood in a neat pile and Y/n had to ignite the flames as Cas stared at the wood like it insulted his father. Then they sat back and gazed up at the full sky, the moon shone fully and bright while the small stars dotted the rest of the negative space that was the night sky. This is nice, being here like this. I'm really happy. Y/n leaned onto Cas, who couldn't help but overhear her thought, and smiled deeply. "This is nice Cas, I love this view." She looked across the sky towards Mars, which was shining bright red tonight. "So do I." He replied as he swept an eyelash off her cheek. Her full lips curved up into a small smile and she leant herself against his welcoming chest, a few moments later Cas heard soft snoring.
She was asleep.
