Chapter 11

It was around midnight when Y/n woke up in a motel bed. Dean, Sam, and another girl were in the room as well. Sam and the girl shared a bed, while Dean was doing his 'silent loner' thing. Someone shifted next to Y/n, and her head quickly snapped to the right to see Castiel in all of his angelic glory. Seeing him made her smile, wasn't she dead? Everything that had happened with the reaper seemed to fade from her memory.

"I didn't think heaven would be so nice." She spoke to Castiel, who furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "I get to see the love of my life, and my two favorite idiots. Even if they aren't really here with me." Y/n sat up and stretched, running her fingers through her h/l h/c hair to free the locks from knots. "Y/n," she shivered as she heard her name fall from Cas' lips. "You're not in heaven, I saved you before you died, this is all real."

The female in bed with Sam stirred slightly in her sleep, but rolled over and wrapped an arm around Sam's torso before falling back asleep. Y/n leaned her head on Cas' shoulder and asked him a quiet question. "Who's that with Sam?" She felt Cas kiss her hair. "The woman he ran into at the grocery store, she was possessed. We'll need to get her tattooed with an anti-possession symbol, she vulnerable to another possession." Castiel's voice was husky from not using it for several hours. "Same goes for you Y/n." He heard her groan quietly, this made him smile even though nobody could see it in the dark room. "Do I need to?" Y/n squeaked out meekly, for she didn't really enjoy the thought of a needle puncturing her skin a million times. "Yes." The angel's reply was almost immediate. "It's the only way to keep you safe from demon possession."

It was silent for a moment, only soft breathing was heard in the room. "I'm sorry." Y/n suddenly said, her head was hanging low as a few tears trickled down her cheeks and onto the backs of her hands, which were resting on her knees. "Why?" Castiel was confused. She hadn't done anything worthy of needing an apology in his eyes. "I'm annoying." Was her almost silent response. "I'm always getting hurt, and you always need to save me. I put you all in danger and—" Cas cut Y/n off by tipping her chin up with his hands. He wiped the tears from her eyes, and smiled gingerly. "You're not annoying. You are the most beautiful and selfless person I know. I would happily die for you, if it solidified your safety and happiness..." he trailed off, his eyes switching between her lips and her shining eyes. "I... I think I..." Cas once again trailed off, but quickly pressed his lips onto Y/n's. She was surprised, but quickly kissed him back.

His lips were soft, and gentle. Despite his otherwise angry, malicious exterior, he treated her like a porcelain doll, like she was fragile and precious to him. Because she was. He truly loved this human. Castiel, an angel of the Lord, was in love with Y/n, the fragile prophet before him. And now she was his.

The kiss went on for a little longer until Y/n needed to break away for oxygen. Castiel jutted his lip out in a small pout, he didn't understand why Y/n pulled away. "Did I not do it right?" His inquiry made her face flush red. "N-No. You're a... you're a pretty damn good kisser. I just needed to breathe."

She laughed quietly at the look of sudden realization that flashed across Cas' face. "Oh..." Little to their knowledge, Dean had woken up and snapped a quiet photo of them kissing for blackmail later on. "Heya, love birds." His rough morning voice called out. Y/n shrieked loudly waking up Sam, who pulled the gun from under his pillow and was frantically searching for a dangerous target to shoot.

The quick movements jostled Kelsey, who shot out of bed and onto the floor. Her black midnight hair sprawled across her face. "What the hell? What's wrong?" The small female asked at same time Sam yelled: "What can I shoot?!"

Dean, on the other hand, was rolling around his bed and laughing as hard as he could. "Oh for the love of Cas' father, that was hilarious!" Sam rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "You think you're funny?" He asked his childish brother. "I think I'm adorable." Was his stupid response.

"I don't understand." Castiel's voice was strained as he spoke. "What does father have to do with anything?" The angel's innocence made Dean crack up even more, earning him a pillow being slung into his face as a gift from Sam. "You never answered my question, Dean. What was so funny you had to wake us all up at," he glanced at the clock on the nightstand, "12:30 in the damn morning?!"

Dean tossed the pillow to the side and wiped a tear from his eye. "Oh nothing, I just caught these two—" before he could finish his sentence Y/n jumped across the room from her bed to Dean's and covered his mouth with her hand. Dean got a frustrated look on his face and licked Y/n's hand. "What the fuck Dean?! Gross!" She wiped his spit all over his face and jumped back into her bed with Castiel, landing gracefully in his arms.

As Y/n landed in Cas' lap, he wrapped an arm around her like a protective shield, enclosing her in warmth. He kissed Y/n's cheek gingerly, adding to the heat rising in her already red face. "Y/n just thought she had died, and that she was in heaven." He glanced over at the trio in front of him. "Though, I'm not sure how having you two here could be considered being in heaven."

Kelsey burst out laughing at Cas' insult towards the two, and Sam just turned and glared at her. "Can it, short stack." Kelsey stopped laughing immediately and glared back at Sam. "Oh hush up, moose." Kelsey's reply had Dean laughing his ass off, and the whole room was filled with genuine laughter. The laughter was cut short when a dull thumping noise came from the room to their left. "Can you guys shut up?! People are trying to sleep!" Everyone but Castiel covered their mouths to silence their laughter, and it was quiet again.

"Be honest." Dean asked everyone. "Can any of you go back to sleep right now?" Once again, everyone but Castiel responded with a head shake implying no. "I don't need to sleep." Was Cas' short reply. "We know Cas," Dean sighed, "we know."

"Psst." Y/n poked Cas' cheek, and he looked down at her with his bright ocean eyes, humming in response.  "I... I love you, Castiel." Y/n said meekly. Cas grinned and leaned down, kissing her once more and not caring if anyone saw. "I love you too, Y/n." He said as he rested his forehead against hers.
