Chapter 10
"Where am I?" A pale man stood before Y/n. She saw Castiel holding her body and looked up at the skinny man. "Am I dead?" She whispered, not really wanting to know the answer.
"I'm afraid... not."
Sam and Dean were released from their captivity with a wave of Castiel's hand. The ropes snapped immediately, and the brothers fell to the floor. Groaning, Dean sat up and rubbed his wrists. "Is she okay, Cas?" He calmly asked the angel. He was still holding Y/n like she was a child, her legs wrapped around his waist, her arms around his neck, her head nestled into the crook of his shoulder and his throat.
"What do you mean?" She questioned. "I see my body right there. I can't move, or... or feel anything. How can I not be dead?"
Castiel still had his arms around her, but he shifted to hold her better. One arm around her waist and one under both her legs. The blue eyes of Castiel pierced into Dean's green ones. Physically, Y/n was fine. Castiel's angelic powers had healed every gash on her, not even leaving a scar. Mentally? Before Cas healed her? She was on the brink of death; he wasn't sure how well her mental state would be when she woke up.
"That isn't my place to tell you now." The man smiled fondly. "It's just not your time yet."
"She'll be fine," his voice was gravelly as he spoke. "I healed her wounds and she's resting now... but I'm not sure if her brain will be able to take the amount of pain she endured. Humans are very resilient but she was close to death. I'm sure she'll be scared and skittish for a few days."
"So what am I doing here? Why can't I move?"
"Sometimes when you come that close to dying it takes a while for the soul to return." He looked over at Castiel, who looked at him like he could see him. "Luckily for you, you had some... divine intervention."
She gazed at Cas and surveyed the room. Dean and Sam were checking on each other, and she saw the ragged form of a person staggering in the corner. "This isn't over yet, is it?" She sat on the floor.
"Unfortunately not."
Sam walked to Cas and patted his shoulder, but was thrown to the side by a demon. He pulled his demon blade from his pocket with a low groan and got into a fighting stance, but it wavered when he saw his assailant.
"Kelsey?" His voice quivered as he saw the demon that was wearing Kelsey's face and using her voice. "You know, this meat suit is very nice; fits like a glove!" Kelsey's hand was used to flip her black hair over her shoulder, a taunting gesture to Sam.
Sam gritted his teeth and glared, he was very upset. "Oh, one more thing sweetheart." Kelsey continued. "If you try to exorcise me, little Kelsey is going to take a long drop with a sudden stop." The demon standing in front of Sam smirked and pressed a hand to her stomach before moving it back, showing off the bright red blood coming from her abdomen. "So no funny tricks, got it?"
Dean had come up behind Kelsey and grabbed her arms, forcing them backwards, locking her in place. "Sam! Knock her ass out!" Dean was struggling to keep Kelsey in place, she was writhing and trying to kick Dean's shins. Sam rushed over and pulled back his fist then hit Kelsey in the temple. Her body went limp in Dean's arms and he laid her on the floor. In all the commotion, Cas had moved himself and Y/n away with his abilities. He was now sitting cross-legged on the floor while holding Y/n bridal style. "It's okay Y/n, I've got you." He quietly said to her as he cradled her and stroked her face with his thumb.
"Grab the spray paint Dean." Sam was now restraining Kelsey using an abandoned chair in the corner and the ropes that were previously holding them captive. Dean stalked outside to the car and grabbed the bag of supplies from the trunk.
He went back inside carrying the bag and grabbed the spray paint, when he saw the paint, he gave Sam a bitch face. "Really?" He held up a can of hot pink paint. Sam shrugged nonchalantly.
"It was all they had in stock."
Dean grumbled some incoherent words and started spray painting a Devil's Trap on the floor. After it was finished and dry, Sam dragged the chair with the demon in it into the Trap, being careful not to scratch the paint in the process. Dean tossed Sam a bottle of holy water, Sam quickly caught it and opened it before dousing the demon in it. She woke up screaming in pain, thrashing around to get loose. "You son of a bitch!" She yelled at the brothers, her eyes going completely black and baring her teeth.
"Ah ah now," Dean taunted her, "watch that mouth now princess." Dean spritzed a little bit of the water into her eyes, Kelsey closed her eyes and hissed as steam rose from her face. "Go to Hell." She cursed at Dean, and to this he smirked.
"Already been, didn't agree with me." Her eyes opened again and they were back to a normal blue green color. "What do you want, Winchester?" Kelsey snarled at Dean "Where's Crowley?" He asked back, taking an angel blade from the supply bag and twirling it in his hands. "You can't kill me, Sam won't let you. He loves Kelsey and wouldn't let her die." The demon said, feeling very cocky and smug at the moment. "Who said I was gonna kill you?" Dean leaned down and stared Kelsey in the eyes, getting very close to her face. His action made Kelsey flinch backwards.
"Now I'll ask again. Where's Crowley?" After Kelsey remained silent for a few minutes Dean stabbed her through the hand with the blade, the tip of it cutting into the wooden armrests and causing Kelsey to let out a shrill shriek of pain. "Where's Crowley?!" Dean screamed at her, his deep voice very intimidating. "He's at a motel near your old house in Lawrence! Under the name Mark! Please stop!" Kelsey screamed back. Sam patched her stomach with the emergency gauze he had in the bag, wrapping it tightly around the wound and standing up.
"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica. Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Domine." He stopped to take a breath. "Ut Ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos.Ut inimicos sanctae Ecclesiae humiliare digneris, te rogamus, audi nos."
"What will happen to the demon?" Y/n questioned curiously. The pale man shrugged, bored. "I'm unsure, Heaven and Hell aren't my expertise. I just transport souls."
Black smoke came pouring out of Kelsey's mouth and went down into the stone floor. Her head slumped forward and Sam went rushing to see if she was alright. "Kelsey?" He shook her shoulders. "Kelsey?!" He yelled for her and her eyelids fluttered, revealing her bluish green eyes. "S-Sam?" She said weakly as she turned her head to the side. Sam cracked a smile. "Yeah." He sniffled as his eyes teared up. "Yeah it's me."
He hastily pulled the small girl into an embrace, and she gladly returned it. She winced as she felt the wound in her stomach and hand. "Ow... what happened to me?" Sam pulled from the hug and Dean nudged the bag of supplies Sam's way. "You were possessed. By a demon." Dean said. "Dude really? You couldn't have said it any more blunt, could you?" Sam's question was laced with sarcasm. Kelsey's eyebrows knitted together, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. "A... demon? But, I thought they weren't real!" Cas chimed in on the conversation, speaking in a flat tone of voice. "Every monster you can think of is real, even more species after that is also real. Ghouls, zombies, werewolves, vampires, shape-shifters, ghosts, demons, angles, and so many more."
He was standing now, still holding the sleeping, beautiful girl in his callused hands. Looking into her closed eyes he kissed her forehead, still looking at her, he spoke to everyone. "I swear on my Father to protect her. Any danger that thwarts her, I'll be there to stop it."
"You know," he leaned down and whispered in her ear, "he's sacrificing everything to be with you. Relations between angels and humans are forbidden."
Y/n looked at Cas as her heart swelled with warmth. "I know..."
"Are you ready to return?"
"God yes."
