Chapter Forty-Five; Start Again

When the police officer said 'All' of them, he really meant all of the men, with only Joshua and Ryan being handcuffed, before they took off, Drew, Ryan, Joshua, Zach, Brent, and Eddie being divided between the two officer's vehicles.

Which left Janelle and Joshua's girlfriend, who, had been watching the entire event from the sidelines, wondering if they'd be having to bail the six men out of jail.

Hesitantly, Janelle looked over at Joshua's girlfriend, only to realise that she was crying.

She swallowed a little, running a hand through her dark hair as she weighed her options. She could very well comfort the woman, but she could also avoid her since she was the one Joshua cheated on her with; but that just wasn't her.

Letting out a soft sigh, she reached out, rubbing the woman's arm. "Are you okay?" She mumbled.

She swallowed, wiping the tears from her eyes. "Yeah...Yeah, I'm fine." She muttered, before sighing. "I-I didn't realise he was such a.."

"An asshole?" Janelle finished her sentence, causing her to let out a soft chuckle.

"Yeah, That." She nodded in agreement, before looking down at her feet. "I'm Isabelle."

"I'm Janelle." She gave her a small smile.

Isabelle let out another sigh. "So...I'm guessing we should go get them?"

Janelle nodded. "Yeah, we should."

The drive to the police department was mostly silent between to the two women, and the most they talked about was how nice Ryan's car was. Janelle was rather thankful that Ryan had left his keys in the car and not in his pocket, otherwise she'd have to pay for a taxi to take them there. This way, they could just go straight home once she picked him up.

When they made it to the police department, the two exited the vehicle after parking it by the curb, before Janelle looked up to see Ryan stepping out, the jacket to the suit he was still wearing slung over his arm, with Brent, Zach, Drew, and Eddie following behind him.

"Ryan!" She Exclaimed, causing him to look up as she jogged over.

The two embraced momentarily, before she pulled away to look at him. "How did it go?" She Asked warily.

"We're free to go." He gave her a small smile. "Well, except for Joshua. They kept him for tax fraud or something like that."

"Can't say I'm sorry." Drew shrugged, causing Ryan to let out a light chuckle.

"I don't think any of us can, honestly." Janelle laughed a little, before looking over at Isabelle, who bit her lower lip.

"I better go get him." She mumbled, looking down at her feet.

Janelle's smile faded, as she reached up, scratching the back of her neck. "I guess so."

Isabelle nodded a little, before stepping up to the building, opening the front door. She began to step inside, only to look back at Janelle.

"Hey...I'm sorry about the shirt." She smiled sheepishly, causing Janelle to let out a soft chuckle.

"It's okay." She nodded reassuringly, before Isabelle stepped into the building.

There was a moment of silence, but, Ryan looked over at Janelle, breaking it. "It's not really okay, is it?" He asked, a small smirk on his face.

"Not at all."

After dropping Zach, Brent, Drew, and Eddie back at the apartment so they could return to their vehicles, Ryan and Janelle headed back home, the drive absolutely silent. Neither of them knew what to say, what to do.

Ryan had kissed Janelle; what he knew was that he made a mistake, yet, it didn't feel much like one, no matter how much he told himself that it was all it was.

And Janelle was still in shock over it; she wanted to yell at him, tell him to never do it again, but she wanted even more to finally admit that she loved him. She knew that she loved him, why was she still hiding it? It was time to face her fears; she had to trust that, if it was meant to work out, it would. Everything would fall into place. They already had.

The past few months had been a prime example of that: the fact that she even met Ryan on one of her worst nights st the restaurant, the fact that she happened to run into him again in a coffee shop; If this wasn't her destiny, she didn't know what it was.

Maybe it was time to try again. Maybe it was time for her to start over with love, give it another shot. Ryan has been so important in her life, and he had changed her. It was almost as if he fixed her.

Janelle looked over at Ryan as he drove, pondering what she'd say when they got home. Her heart began to pound in her chest as she mentally prepared herself; she was going to tell him.

She trusted him, she knew she was safe. Currently, he was the safest place she knew; He was one of the only people she felt she could be vulnerable in front of, and he always had been, even the first time they met, when she cried over being so tired, and he had comforted her.

He had always comforted her, and here, she had never given him anything in return; he loved her, yet she never gave him that same love back. What was wrong with her? She had to admit that she loved him. To herself, first; it was time to start again.

As Ryan pulled up into his usual parking spot, Janelle felt butterflies in her stomach, but she was unable to determine if they were good or bad. They could very well be her gut telling her that this wasn't what she wanted. Or, it could be that spark she felt for Ryan, only finally reaching the surface after months of concealing itself.

The two of them got out of his car, Janelle shutting her door, before following him up to the house. He unlocked and opened the door, before they both stepped inside, still absolutely silent.

Janelle was still racking her brain for how she could tell him; how would she profess her love for a man she had been hiding her true feelings from for what seemed like forever?

Suddenly, though, all doubts went away, when Ryan looked up into her eyes with those soft green orbs of his. She no longer had to think; she swallowed, stepping over to him, crashing her lips into his.

Seeming a bit taken aback, he blinked in surprise, before bringing his hands up to her waist, pulling her closer to him.

Janelle felt a million sparks as he deepened the kiss; she didn't need words. He was all she needed. Their lips moved in sync as they stood by the door, bodies pressed together, arms around each other.

Janelle hesitantly pulled away, feeling her eyes fill with tears. "Ryan, I love you.." she murmured. "I love you...I'm so sorry.."

"Hey, shh.." he lifted up a hand to place it on her cheek, their eyes locking as he gently gazed at her.

"I'm so sorry, Ryan.."

"Hey, it's okay.." he whispered, pressing his forehead against hers. "It's okay."

He gave her a small smile, and she gave him one back, a single tear falling from her eye. He quickly wiped away the tear with his thumb, lowering his hand back to her waist and reconnecting his lips with hers for a short kiss, before hugging her tightly, allowing her to bury her face in the crook of his neck.

Him, Janelle thought to herself. He was all I ever needed.
