Comics || Alan Frog

You've known Edgar and Alan Frog for about three years, and boy, they were eccentric as hell. But nevertheless, you decided to befriend the two boys when you met them at school.

You don't see the two brothers at school often, and you wonder if they were ever going to finish sophomore year. Edgar claimed they had better things to do, something about justice and those damn vampires! Honestly, what did that even mean?

While Edgar might've acted like a Rambo wannabe, Alan was a bit easier to talk to. Alan was more reclusive than his brother, and shyer too. It was definitely cute, and it felt so right talking to him.

You could talk to him about so much, like comics, than just vampires. By the way, you thought the boys were smoking crack when it came to vampires. Vampires? In your city? Yeah sure, and you're the Queen of England!

Today was any other Saturday at Santa Carla, and you managed to get by the boardwalk without attracting that oddly scary but hot biker gang. Maybe it had something to do with the sun still being out, even if it won't be out much longer. But the biker gang weren't vampires, of course not! That would be ridiculous.

You browsed through the aisles of the Frog's comic book store with a mission in mind. You were eager to read the newest Wonder Woman comic, especially since you enjoyed George Perez's artwork and work with the character so far.

Of course, you caught the attention of a Froggy.

"[Name]." Alan greeted you, saying as little as possible but still getting the point across. He was dressed in his usual getup, and yet he seemed more feisty and spunky.

"Hey Froggy!" You greeted in a chirpy tone, inwardly feeling mischievous as you knew that Alan detested that nickname.

But you weren't planning on stopping, you loved the reaction you got out him. It seemed to be the most emotional or reactive he got without his brother.

"Oh my God, again with that stupid nickname?" Alan groaned, already feeling exasperated with you. How come he couldn't have ONE conversation with you without mentioning that vile nickname?

"It isn't stupid! It's cute!" You retorted back, picking up Wonder Woman vol. 2 #1.

"Oh yeah, says the girl holding Wonder Woman!" Alan sneered, as if there was someone superior than Wonder Woman, which there wasn't.

"Oh? Because you're any better? You and Edgar are always quoting Superman! What is it? Truth, Justice, and the American way?" You scoffed back, except neither you or Alan meant any harm.

It was simply playful banter.

"Yeah but Superman is cool!" Alan argued back, except it wasn't a solid argument, even if Superman was cool.

"And Wonder Woman is cooler!" You replied back cooly.

"Yeah okay, sure..." Alan said, deciding to hold up his white flag. It was quite obvious you'd defend your favorite super heroine to the ends of the Earth.

"Ring me up, will you?" You asked, handing Alan the comic book. He glances at the cover quickly, it was colorful, depicting Wonder Woman in the center with Themyscira in the background, along with other Amazons. He figured he'd read it, he was going to anyway, but he'll read it for you now.

Alan liked you for awhile. He's known you through art classes at school, and always been fond of you. But it wasn't until both you and him matured that he realized he was harboring feelings for you.

He just didn't know how to tell you. He wasn't nearly as confident as his brother or a social butterfly like Sam Emerson. No, instead he was just plain old Alan Frog.

You were the only person willing to open up to him and overlook his oddities, unlike most girls or boys at school. Even if he didn't go to class often, you'd help him out and made sure he didn't fall too far behind.

Not much people would do that for him or anyone for that matter, and it made him love you. Your kindness, beauty, and grace won him over.

Now, how was he going to tell you?

Alan was already standing behind the register, ringing you up, and you hurried to pull out ten dollars.

"Do you want the receipt and a bag?" Alan asked.

"No bag. Just put the receipt inside the comic." You replied back, handing him the ten dollars.

But something sparked your interest, Alan quickly wrote something on the back of the receipt, placing it inside the book before handing it to you.

"Here you go, [Name]." Alan says softer than usual, a smile gracing his face as he hands you your newly purchased comic.

"Thanks Alan. I'll see you around?" You asked, getting ready to walk out the shop.

"I hope so." He replied back, and you felt as if there was a double meaning behind his words.

But you smiled and greeted him goodbye.

As soon as you walked out the comic book shop, you opened up your Wonder Woman comic. The receipt falls out and you quickly pick it up, looking at scrawl on the back of the receipt, which was written in black sharpie.

You blushed, feeling pleasantly surprised, and smiled to yourself. You safely placed the receipt back into the comic book, hurrying to walk back home before the sun sets.

You could guarantee that Alan Frog would get a call from you.
