You can go back and forth between pages as you please, but don't comment on the Great Hall just passing through, like comment in a common room "going to the great Hall" then go to the Great Hall and be all like "I grabbed a burger and went back my common room". You could just be like "I ran to the Great Hall right quick, grabbed a snack, and came back" and say all of that in your common room. Also, make them reasonable - you couldn't possibly go to Diagon Alley in the middle of the school year.
No controlling other people's characters in any way.

That Great Hall thing was unrealistic, because there are meal hours and stuff.
No entering other houses - unless you're being all sneaky and stuff. But still.
